I've reviewed his place a few times, and it changed based on the experience. Today, the experience was godawful, absolutely awful. The food and drink are good, but the service can be, and was today, terrible. The staff treat customers like crap, maybe because it's somewhere that always gets custom, so they don't need to bother being polite, or kind, or courteous in any way. Really bad, honestly, not sure I'll bother again. Also, mad expensive for where it is. There's no 'view'that people are going on about, it's basically the Abbey, there's are 1000 churches in the country, and this ain't the best one by any means. Needs a ton of work, probably a complete staff replacement.

This is a great cafe. Excellent location, great service and friendly staff. The only negative is a lack of local and Scottish produce. Maybe that can be looked at?

Great food and coffee, friendly staff and a nice place to hang out (especially on a rainy day). Wee gem of a place to check out if you’re in the area.

I have only been twice but have felt disappointed on both occasions the coffee is nice but waited over ten minutes for it to be served and this time I opted for Carrot and walnut cake but it was dry and stale - I should have complained but it was busy so I left but I won’t be back that is twice and both times my cake was dry and not worth the 3.50 I paid for it.

Beautiful cup of coffee and a delicious slice of 'Ultimate Carrot Cake' served by really nice folks, with a great view to boot. Can't fault it.

Called in here with family for lunch. Very bright and pleasant inside. The food is good especially the soup and we didn't have to wait long for it to arrive. The staff were pleasant and attentive.

Nice cafe but hopeless if you can't eat gluten and the coffee is pretty tasteless.

The Granary is comfortable, friendly and their soup and scones are tasty. Love it being in the Library building and with lovely surroundings, such as the Abbey and Abbot House.

Went for some food. A can of coke £3!! For a can of coke absolute joke. Had a toasties at an eye watering £8!! The food was ok and the views of the Abbey are nice. Staff are friendly but the prices are a total rip off and I will never return. I still can't believe I paid £3 for a can of coke RIDICOULUS.

Had a really lovely meal of waffles and pancakes here. It was about half full but nice and quiet. The coffees were lovely and warming on a cold day, and the portion sizes were great, and delicious! We paid about £20 for a coffee and plate of food each which for the quality we thought was completely fine. The staff were friendly, and the view out to the Abbey was beautiful, though the window tables do all get snapped up first. Would come again :D

Lovely wee spot with great views. Got to say, very disappointed at the 1 star reviews on here from some very entitled people who have obviously never worked in the service industry or ran a business. There’s a big difference between artisanal products made by hand and the mass produced products in the supermarket. If you don’t want to pay the price, go somewhere else instead of spitting your dummy out. Have some compassion for the hard working people trying to make a living and get off your high horse

Sandwiches charging near £8 is outrageous for Dunfermline. Do you think you’re in the Ritz? Regardless of them being “toasted” or the “high quality ingredients”. At best £5. You could buy the same quality ingredients at Tesco 2minutes up the road for the same cost and have exact same sandwiches all week! Owners need a reality check and stop charging London prices. Don’t buy people.

Unfortunately this review is from our 4th visit to the Granary (the other 3 quite similar but not as bad) We like the view and location hence we came back again. We ordered 2 coffees, a sandwich toasted plus a cheese/tomato gluten free toastie. The coffees arrived after 10 minutes (with hindsight we should have asked for them with the food) so we had to drink them before they were too cold. In a further 25 minutes as frustration was setting in my sandwich arrived which was really nice (but cold??) so what took 35 minutes in total? A few minutes later my wife’s toastie arrived with “ham” in it. Not sure how? Then another few minutes to rectify by which time it was cold. We had to order extra coffee to coincide with the food. We arrived at 11.45am so being busy (in my opinion) doesn’t excuse all this. At the counter and adjacent tables we could overhear other people complaining too. Bad experience I’m afraid. Never again despite the location. Rant over. Thanks

What a find, deserves more than 3.5 score. Tuna melt on ciabatta roll was tasty as was my egg mayo roll. Really excellent cappuccino too, really milky and delicious. The cakes are something else, the Strawberry Danish is DIVINE and my partner assured me the fudge doughnut was spectacular. Worth dropping in if you are in the area, if you are pressed for time jump in and buy a cake, you will not regret it. I intend to make a point of visiting again when in that neck of the woods.

Just like any other coffee shop selling coffee for extortionate prices. Ours had the added extra of being stronger than a herd of elephants with something to dash home for. I won't sleep for a week now...

Common theme here. My girlfriend and I called at this cafe about a quarter of an hour before they were due to close at 4pm which in itself seems absurd for a tourist destination. At the time staff were already stacking chairs on the tables in one part of the tearoom. We were looking for a suitable place to sit and were directed ungraciously to another room where there were no tables available. Unfortunately, as it now appears a very nice couple informed us that they were leaving and we could have their table. As I went to order at the counter they told my girlfriend that their coffee had been somewhat cool. Not having been informed that it was table service I went to the counter to order and was told that our coffees would be served in takeaway cups. When I queried this I was rudely informed by the older blonde woman with the pony tail that it was because they were about to close. They did seem happy enough to take my money however. The cakes were good but that was the only good news. Before we were finished our coffees the staff started to clear up around about us. Two foreign girls were encouraged ungraciously to leave. The aforementioned woman then came through and informed us incorrectly that we had already been asked to leave and we should go. When advised that we had not quite finished our coffees we were told in no uncertain manner to take them with us. This “lady” has no place serving the public in any capacity far less in a service industry. If she is an employee then the owners would be well advised to dispense with her services as she is the worst possible advert for their business. We are local and not only will we NEVER be back but we will advise ALL our friends not to go there under any circumstances.

Food was very good and probably cooked from scratch to order. The wait however detracted from this. We waited about 25 minutes which would be fine if we were having a lazy day but not really expected when needing a quick meal while doing your shopping on a busy day

We've lived in Kirkcaldy for almost 4 years now, being from Edinburgh were used to a Weatherspoons. However I wasn't expecting the old, dreery, tired and outdated pub we entered. The absolute stench best the bar was appalling, you know when drinks have been spilled and a mop that's been laying about for many hours more than it should have had been used to clean up! Yuk! Online ordering made this a bit easier, the food was ok can't complain really. Needing a pee though? That's about 3 flights of stairs and the toilet was in disarray, messy and broken, the toilet roll holder was on the floor. Parking was very difficult despite it being around 6 in the evening, not the fault of the pub though I suppose. Not recommended at all
