Stayed in hotel and had dinner and breakfast. Food fine. Restaurant clean and comfortable. Rooms clean and comfortable although not warm at night but you could open window

Love it. Great with kids and elderly accessibility. Service was fast and friendly gemmaleigh done an amazing job making us feel welcome and food was on point as usual. Will be back again.

Always great food, always seems to be short staffed but staff that are present are always attentive and deliver a great service, especially Claire 😁

Family get together with 11 of us for dinner. Our server Yvonne was friendly and dealt with our order efficiently making sure we were happy with our meals and had everything we needed.

Had an amazing experience during lunch food was good and the service was impeccable from our server Kayley who has to be one of the bubblyest young lady ever I will absolutely be back here for food.

Nice hotel next to the beach. Rooms are ideal with comfy big bed, friendly staff, food in the restaurant is great and the breakfast is spot on.

We had a lovely waitress called Lynn, who was amazing. She assisted us in the right choices of food etc and was so helpful with my young 3yr old niece, she had her eating happily!! The food we chose was absolutely delicious. What a wonderful experience!!

Nicely decorated, good ambience. No loud music or sports on TV blaring. Claire was very nice, really good with the children in our group. Offered a selection of colouring and puzzle sheets. Food was excellent and very good value. Only negative was that we waited quite a while to be served drinks, then have our order taken and the same for our dessert. There seemed to be plenty staff and everyone was extremely pleasant, just seemed a long time for staff to come to our table for each time. I would recommend and will return.

I stayed here very recently on a business trip. Its a wonderful hotel and the staff are amazing. The lady on dinner service was so attentive and polite making sure everything was OK. But.....Teresa on breakfast stole the show. She genuinely couldn't do anything more for us. I am a bit fussy when it comes to breakfast but she recommended some alternatives to the menu to make sure I ate before heading off to work for the day. A true star and genuinely so caring. The hotel is fit for purpose, clean, comfortable and good location.

The four of us (two couples) enjoyed an evening meal on Saturday, March 9th. While our food order did not go according to plan, Lynne nevertheless took care of us. She understands the need to 'look after' regular customers. We plan to return soon. Many thanks, Lynne, for making it an enjoyable experience.

Delicious Mothers day celebration lunch for four at the Caledonian Hotel today. Myself, husband, Mum and Auntie M. Lynn who served us was extremely helpful, informative, friendly and very attentive. Thank you Lynn for making our day special.

Their hotel nearly killed me. I was sick with fever and flu due to my cold room. This includes, but not limited to: night sweats, vomiting, nausea, cough, chills, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, loss of voice, fatigue, sneezing, headache, inability to stand for long, and inability to sleep, going to the ER, being prescribed medicine, and being urged to vacate or get warm. The heat was constantly off. I told staff for seven days in a row about my situation and that I may need to go to hospital or die if they keep turning off the heat. And it was turned off again after the fact. I was denied by two different women to turn it back on. I asked for an extra blanket too which I could not get. I had to borrow a blanket and bring it to the hotel. I was there for days unable to leave. I was too weak to travel or check out early. I tried one morning and couldn’t even stand long enough to shower. They refused to refund me. My holiday in Scotland was defunct because I was stuck in the hotel trying to heal and get strong enough to leave. What’s sickening is when I said I was going to end up in the hospital or die, one worker responded, “But did you end up in the hospital or die?!” They kept trying to say I had Covid- all three ladies individually, instead of acknowledging I was cold. I tested negative for Covid. One said a person can’t get sick from being cold. When I educated and informed her what the doctor said, she said she wasn’t in the medical field so she didn’t know. Obviously. Their treatment of customers is sub-human. Run. Don’t stay. I’ve talked to locals who said the staff treats people terribly.

Arrived for breakfast after making a call to see if they were open.the staff member who answered the call was a bit off. We arrived and the waitress was very strange. Celebrating a 60th Wedding Anniversary is a very special occasion and the staff went beyond our expectations in helping us to make it memorable. We had 'The Snug' room to ourselves which was perfect. The tables were beautifully laid, the food was delicious, and the service was great. A special mention to Shannon who looked after us throughout the evening, nothing was too much trouble. Despite visiting Leven many times over the past few years this was our first visit. Good menu choice including Vegan options. Service from start to finish was excellent and very reasonable prices. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day. This is going to be our regular eating place when in Leven. Our server was Shannon who is a credit to the Caledonian.

What happened to this lovely restaurant?On previous visits to Leven we would treat ourselves to lunch at this hotel and it was always heaving with folk enjoying their meals from Wrinklies to families with small children to business folk.Sadly it's not like that now! On entering (one way system) 2 of us were given a table in the main thoroughfare. Staff seemed clued up on Covid health and everything was explained. Paper menus (perfect sense due current pandemic) but totally different menu. Noticed other changes - atmosphere, only a few diners and prices seemed a bit higher (and afterwards portions seemed less!). Very noticeable is no longer any smaller portions (Pensioner or 1/2 size portions for light eaters) and in fact were advised they longer do them which resulted in my companion ending up with a starter of the breaded mushrooms as there was nothing else to tempt. My order - a Cheese and Bacon Burger (£10.49) arrived WITHOUT bacon! Asked where the bacon was and first thing the waitress did was add bacon to the bill - an EXTRA £0.99 despite having ordered a cheese and bacon burger! Regrettably only noticed the extra charge afterwards - so check your bill BEFORE payment! Burger was good (lettuce, tomato, mayo) on brioche bun, small portion of fries served in a tin pail and 3 onion rings served on a hot plate.Won't bother returning as it's just turned into an ordinary 'chain'.

I ate here a couple of years ago and bit was at best very poor pub grub.That had certainly changed, it's still.pub grub but the standard is some much better and it's supported by very helpful staff.The menu is what you would expect from a Green King establishment, plenty of choice for everyone.I have been back 3 times since it was refurbished and never had a bad meal.

Walked in and was pleased to see that everyone was adhering to the covid guidelines. Was served by Claire and had excellent service from start to finish. I was surprised when she told me she only started in the hospitality business at the end of August. She had a professionalism about her that would have made me think she worked in this business for years. Both me and my partner's food was fantastic for the price. It's hard to find somewhere to eat nowadays where both the food and the service is both fantastic. Will definitely be back.

We came here for my girlfriends 20th birthday with a friend and had a 3 course meal. Everything tasted good and between the 3 of us with drinks included it was only 80 quid. I had not been here in almost a year due to covid 19 so they had alot to live up to. The new decor was very nice and Steph seemed professional and was very helpful always checking on us every little while and providing us with a good and warm service. Can not wait for our next visit and it brought a little piece of normal back into my life after a very long 12 months. 10/10

An interesting stay. The bed was comfy and being able to have our dog with us was a real bonus, but we didn't get much sleep. The walls are paper thin meaning we were treated to several rounds of next door's romance! The hotel is also right opposite a popular takeaway, with loud shouting and revving engines. Plus, the decor is very dated and in need of maintenance. The loo wasn't attached to the floor, the hair drier didn't work and there was enough sealant on the sink that it'd be water tight to the full depth of the Mariana Trench. Can't say I was all that impressed at the mouldy shower either...+ Dog friendly+ Decent bed- Paper thin walls (revealing many "bumps" in the night)- Dated and poorly maintained

Visited the Caledonian Hotel, Leven little over a week ago for an occasional meal with my partner. As entering the restaurant I was greated by member of staff who was very accommodating, didn’t catch her name. Covid-19 regulations were set up well. Food & Service was superb. A special mention to Dean the Chef as nothing was to much for our meal. Thanks Dean & to the staff, will be back!

Booked 3 nights at this hotel and checked out after 2nd night. Was woke up at 4 am with someone banging on another door only to slam doors continuously for a good few minutes!!!!!! Room was rather dated and in desperate need of refurb. One window was screwed shut thus making it a safety hazard. We ate in hotel first night and service was second to none as was breakfast the following morning. However on second morning we waited and waited to be seated and in the end gave in and went else where to eat. May I just add that we had to go out reception and walk round the building and in restaurant entrance as they had a one way system in operation due to Covid. Surely they could have a section cordoned off just for guests rather than have them walk outside to go round a corner and join a queue.

Had the most beautiful meal. Staff very friendly and polite. The meal was excellent and lots to eat too. Pet dogs are allowed which is an added bonus. All staff were great but Claire added that little extra touch. Would highly recommend this hotel. Great prices too as well as a varied menu.

Great find. Booked hotel for a few nights. Came here for dinner and it was so good we booked in for Sunday and Monday dinner too. All staff were excellent and made our night such an enjoyable experience. Claire was very attentive and courteous and personable. Anything we wanted, she provided us with the correct source and information. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent food, cooked to perfection! Friendly helpful staff who manage to create a safe happy environment give n the current pandemic. Stayed in the hotel and dined in the restaurant for 4 days. Staff very nice. Dog friendly restaurant and hotel. Restaurant and bar are beautiful. It's a pity the rooms don't match. But that's our only negative hotel area desperately needs updated but still loved it. Walls are paper thin... You can genuinely hear everything through them.

Our first visit back to "The Caley" since lockdown eased, and i have to say the breakfast we had was awesome. We were attended to by Gill, who done a tremendous job of making us feel safe and welcome, always smiling and helpful, and nothing was too much for her to do. Well done to Gill and her team. Regular visitor to "The Caley" pre Covid-19 lockdown. Never been disappointed previously so we were looking forward to eating there again. We pre-booked table online (Advisable)Arrangements in place to escort you to your table were good and social distancing was perfect. You could either order via an app or through the serving staff; we chose the latter as we like the human interaction! Drinks ordered first, then meals both of which arrived quickly.The food itself was absolutely excellent, well cooked and decent portions, from the scampi to my gourmet burger.Staff were friendly and attentive (thanks Kerry) especially when we wanted more drinks. Overall a lovely night and even the thunderstorm as we left to walk home didn't dampen the enjoyment!Overall a lovely meal out.

Out for lunch today, there were three of us in the party and the food was good with something for everyone. Our waitress Siobhan was fantastic, very friendly and attentive, would definitely go back. Also well organised with regards to social distancing and safety measures.

Myself and my family stopped in for a meal on Saturday afternoon on the way home from the beach. We have been to the Caledonian several times of the last wee while and have enjoyed our visits and our food. We were served by Jade today and had a really nice chat with her. She was really friendly and had remembered my daughter from our previous visits which is always a nice touch. The restaurant has a really good one way System and the staff have things under control to ensure safety. We will definitely be back again. Thanks for a lovely meal!

I’m gonna be 100% honest. Never even left a review before in my life but the food was this bad here I actually had to. Not sure if other people that have actually rated this highly are okay but this is hands down no joke the worst food I’ve ever been served and it’s actually pretty expensive !! Literally got served a defrosted Iceland (if that) main for £12!?!?!? In total payed about £20 with a starter and it was baaaaad. Guy I’m with got completely different meals and it was just as poor! Madness. Absolutely rotten. Staying in the rooms that I can’t even knock for the price but the food is a disgrace!

I had a meal today at The Caledonian Hotel in Leven during a day trip to Fife. The meal was served quickly, was of a very high standard and most enjoyable. I was extremely impressed by the helpfulness of the staff and the cleanliness of the facilities. I will be back on my next trip

This was our first "night out" since lockdown and we were were filled with a little trepidation. However we were put at ease right from the start and the place was set up very well and the controls were excellent.Once at our table we were asked to register for the Scottish Track and Trace programme, which put us further at ease. We then had the option of ordering from the staff or using an app. We chose to order direct and I have to say, theservice was excellent.Our main server, Eryn, was very friendly and nothing was any trouble for her. The service overall was smooth and very quick. The food was excellent and portions were healthy.Overall it was a very pleasant experience, made even better by Eryn.

Unfortunately we were not organised enough to book so we chanced going to the restaurant. We were met at the door by Jade who could not have been nicer, she had no tables available for 45 min, when we told her it was ok and we would go for a walk with the dog she took our number. she phoned and let us know a table had become available and we headed back.The social distancing measures were well thought out and did not adversely effect the atmosphere. We enjoyed and excellent meal and were well looked after byJade and all the staff.

The Caledonian has had a refurbishment and it looks great again. I used to work in their cocktail bar when I was a teenager! I have very fond memories of it. My family and I now live in the south east of England however we return to visit our Scottish relatives once or twice a year and the Caledonian’s restaurant is always our must visit for the great fish and chips! We weren’t disappointed we also tried the Scampi, traditional Haggis, Hunters steak and Ribs all of which we can thoroughly recommend. Service very friendly. It’s lovely to see it doing so well.

Not happy at all was told where to sit after asking if i could sit somewhere else as i suffer from anxiety was told no. I have lunch here fairly regularly and I'd say the food is usually pretty good pub grub but the service varies hugely. Today it was quick and attentive but the wait staff on during a weekday lunchtime seem more experienced and better than the weekend staff. I would not recommend coming on a Saturday but Mondays seem great! My meal today (squid and a burger) was tasty and hot and well worth the price!

We go out with friends every Thursday. Some place different every week. But we do occasionally return to our favourite every. Ow and then. The Caledonian is one of them. Never had a bad meal or service in all the time we have visited. Recently been refurbished, but glad it’s the same staff. Alway a friendly welcome and a wee bit of a laugh too. Food is great and good value for money. Haggis fritters are a favourite along with garlic mushroom for starters. But be warned. Starters are huge and you will struggle to have a dessert.
