The Golden Fry in Fife

Ordered my dinner at 6:30pm on a Saturday delivery said approximately 7:30pm phoned at 8:15pm and was told the driver was leaving with another order and my order would be delivered when they came back, dinner was delivered at around 9pm contained one wrong item, so called the store and asked for it to be fixed which took a further almost hour, my wife didn't actually eat her dinner until after 10pm went through mealzo to get a refund for it to be declined by the store, absolutely ridiculous and this isnt the first time, i won't be ordering from them again.

I get off my fat butt and go along to the golden fry and treat myself every Friday to a 12" calzone, which lasts me for two days. VERY friendly staff, good quality meats, fantastic portions and VERY good value for money as far as i'm concerned. I'd give 10 stars if i could 😊

At least 2 hours wait for the food. Phoned after one hour and 20 minutes and they said that they are busy and don’t have a driver or whatever like it’s my problem. Food was mediocre. Never again

We got a Icelandic fish supper and my hubby is very fussy about food but got to say it's the best fish he said he has tasted in a long time the fish it's self was very tasty and the batter was so soft the way we like defo if you want a change of fish go for Icelandic fish you only get what you pay for defo be getting this again

Amazing food cooked to perfection. Definitelyrecommend. Sadly, I was trying to confirm my order, but two staff members just ignored me whilst they chatted . Another staff member who sorted our food acknowledged me .

staff friendly the chips onion rings and jumbo haggis were not edible the batter was like rubber had to throw £14.00 out won't be back .

Called to place an order, the person on the other endof the phone was extremely rude. She was no better when I arrived to pick my order up. I ordered Battered fish cakes none insight. Salt & vinegar as requested, unfortunately the whole dinner had to be put in the bucket due to the amount of salt. You could actually see the amount of salt just lying in the box. Disgusting !!! Bad service all round.

Ordered food from here tonight as our local chippy is closed. I have to say I could not be more disappointed. Waited over 2 hours for the delivery, and even then my partner’s food wasn’t sent. Despite them calling an hour after I placed the order to say they did not have Icelandic fish and what would we like as a replacement! Absolute shambles! Ordered before 7pm and her food arrived after 10pm! I ordered special fish supper and it was mediocre at best. Chips were undercooked and the fish was a sweaty mush. Will not be ordering from Golden Fry again!

They need to remove themselves from the Melazo app as well, as cannot fulfil orders placed there. Twice they have not had an item that has been listed. Last time I ordered, they called 15 mins AFTER delivery was due to be delivered, to say that they didn't have an item I ordered (I thought they were phoning as were late or lost!). I asked for an alternative that was slightly higher in price and they point blank refused! Bearing in mind we were now sitting at 1hr and 20mins from first ordering, and this is them JUST getting in touch saying that they dont have all items? I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was too busy. I said I'd wait. Manager came to the phone and didn't apologise or offer any explanation except that they were busy! Again, I asked as a goodwill gesture for missing item and very late delivery, could I get one special fish - not even two- and he hung up. In this day and age, customer service is key and actually just being reasonable and accountable isn't asking the earth, but no, not here. Think they know their food is good, so just can't deal with the human side of providing a service. Such a shame. Mistakes happen I get that, just learn to deal with them in the appropriate manner and get some training on dealing with public without hanging up on customers.

Joke of a shop ordered at 8 and at 10 o'clock order still not ready for delivery , phone 4 times to be told the other staff lied to me that the order was on its way , avoid at all cost

Calzone and pizza are best in town

Ordered online. Was advised it would arrive in 60 mins. After 90 mins we phoned the shop to be told it was with the driver. An hour and twenty five minutes after ordering it arrived. Cold food. Clearly had been driven around Fife for quite a while. The bulk of my meal went into the dog dish.

Delivery service is terrible! 2hours we have waited and still not delivered. Avoid if you are hungry. Such a shame as it is a good chippy

Don't order for delivery unless you are willing to wait over 2 hours. Food is totally hit and miss. Staff get worked up and angry when you phone and ask where your order is, as if you are expected to wait 2+ hours for delivery.

The Golden Fry was very busy when I called in. Despite this I had my order taken promptly and only waited 5 minutes for my freshly cooked meals. We had a fish supper and sausage supper. They were fresh, hot and tasty. There is a good menu with lots of choice. I would recommend eating from here.

Put an order in online at 17:45, estimated arrival 18:50, called at 19:01 got through, lady hung up on me, phoned back, before I even got my question out, was shouted and saying the driver is leaving now, despite the delivery time being 10 minutes before, whoever was on your phone at 19:01 you should keep her away from the phones if that's her manner when speaking to people that spend money with you buisness. Added regular chips that didn't come with my order, didn't see the point in phoning and asking going by other reviews saying they got the wrong order, 45 minutes late, and the order has missed items. Food itself, it was luke warm, chips soggy, all the batter was soggy on the fish, sausage and haggis bites. If you are busy, do what other takeaways do and hire another driver to help.

1hr and 20 mins late and Luke warm , mediocre quality,used to be a good chippy but they obviously don't give a monkeys about their customers anymore . All in all pathetic , I hope the owner takes note and does something about their business before they don't have a business anymore

Food was ok could’ve been a wee bit warmer. Big issue is the ridiculous 2 & half hour wait for delivery, got to be in contention for the slowest takeaway delivery service in Scotland.

The food is alright but there has been so many occasions where the order has been wrong. I mean,we just ordered chips and cheese. got the chips,but no cheese. we paid for chips and cheese,not a portion of chips. seriously update:The portions are terrible! Paid the same amount as the neighbouring a&r and got way less food. Also, the fish was rank. My father said it tasted funny and ended up woth food poisoning. Avoid this place

170 minutes for delivery Advised 80 minutes delivery time, 20 mins overdue and called to be advised it would be another 20 minutes, 30 minutes later still not arrived. Happy to take the money when they can’t deliver in a decent time. Hardly a decent service and paying for it. Was barely lukewarm when it did arrive, stuck to paper and soggy. Used to be a great chippy but it's definitely slipped. Been waiting over two hours for delivery, phoned to make sure it was fine and didn't even get my question out before the lassie yelled IT'S ON IT'S WAY down the phone at me. Used to go all the time but doubt I'll bother again.

Been waiting over 2 hours for a delivery , phoned up asked where it was , was told it was out for delivery, 30 mins to by phone up again and find out it’s not even been made yet and they will just do it the now, no apology until we said we didn’t want it anymore acted like it was a joke ,

Fish Supper: The fish was bland no taste. 2 Pieces of fish one large the other slightly smaller plenty chips. One Supper would feed an older man and wife. Will I be back Nah!

Asked for chicken kebab with just veg and garlic mayonnaise. It came and it had large mushrooms in it. Who puts mushrooms in a chicken kebab. I hate mushrooms and can’t stand the taste. I had to put the whole kebab in the bin. Never going back there.

Been here before, VFM, good atmosphere, really quick service and staff are very friendly, will definitely be back.

Fish and chips were rank I was mostly disappointed with a staff member who kept on going on about smell of weed to the extent I was ready to say something to her she's not a very pleasant person to have working for you who does she think she is talking to someone like she did she has fake blonde hair early 50s I would say the other staff member dark headed lass was very pleasant what we all noticed was she has beautiful eyes you maybe need to think about getting more staff like her and get rid or the blonde before u loose customers

Ordered at 16.44 and it arrived at 18.17, macaroni was dry and burnt to the bottom of tray, Garlic bread burnt black all round underside edge, won't be back for anything else disappointing

Fantastic takeaway with a huge menu. Food is fabulous all served by really nice staff.

Felt like I have been served last nights left overs. Kebab meat thin and hard, chicken soild couldn't even get my knife through it, chips shocking. Only decent thing was the salad and the sauce. Guys you use to be the best chippy by a mile, what the hell happened

For £12.50 what a deal! 16 inch meatfeast pizza chips and juice, pizza was phenomenal thanks to the pizza chef martin. Deserves all the credit he can get Full stars.

I wish I could give you a better review but being a regular customer, I feel I have to say something. The food is OK but not worth the 2 plus hours wait and its not just because its "busy" today. This happens every other week. Ordered at 4:45, its now 6:58 No sign. I'm thinking this will be the last time ordering with you and its a shame because your staff are lovely. The owner should consider some kind of change to keep customers coming back. 7:24 no order yet

I've been a proud customer of the golden fry for about 25 years and it never ceases to hit the spot. It's one of the best places to get a pizza short of going to an Italian restaurant. Fried foods are always tasty and kebabs taste better than anywhere else.

I order every week for delivery at the same time with at least 2 hours in advance. Only reason why order for specific a time is as we get other food from a different place for the same time too so we can have our dinner together. Well, 9 out of 10 this is not happening. I understand there are other customers too etc but every single week its late. Not 5 minutes or so. Average is about 30 minutes.. next time the food is going back. Absolute beyond a joke!!! And poor driver is the one who has to apologise. This is the 3rd same review over a few months and not once has golden fry replied/apologised. Some costumer care…..

Food is good. Using them weekly. However, delivery is not the greatest. I understand the delivery times are approx which is fine but if even after over an hour AFTER the estimate time stated the food is still not there... twice it happened now and phoned up but it was then delivered in a matter of minutes. Forgotten? Then another time i ordered at about 5.30 for delivery at 20.30. Delivery happened at about 6.30... i emailed to mention my frustration but no reply after almost 2 weeks now so am sorry but for that now only 2 stars. Food is good but delivery and email response for me isn’t the greatest. 22.10.21 and yet another late late delivery. Every single week the same. Despite ordering well in advance. Would be great if owner would comment/apologise after all? Its getting beyond a joke now!!!

Used heteagood few times when visiting relatives, but Sunday 13th June it was not good. Chips were awful, smoked sausage was tiny and white pudding undercooked. Very Dissatisfied. Usually chips excellent but they were almost like reheated.

Great food but the delivery service is horrendous waited nearly an hour for my delivery after l ordered online phoned up twice and was told it had just left and we're still waiting for a 18:20 order. l think u need to employ new delivery drivers

First time customer, good set up, friendly Staff and best of all very decent Pizza & Kebab.

1 star because I can't select lower. Called for collection, was told 10-15 minutes, gave them 20 as its a Saturday. After standing in the shop for 30 minutes i walked out and went elsewhere. Was told originally waiting on chips, funny that cause a few others walked in and were served with no issues, thought it may possibly be the extra single sausage I asked for but after watching some order and leave with a sausage supper I knew that wasn't it either. It takes 3 staff to serve 1 order. The place is a joke. During a pandemic when you don't want to be in closed spaces with other people and your left standing waiting a long time and more people inside the shop than that's allowed to gather outside speaks volumes. Never again will I or any other of my family in the area be ordering from here. Muppets

Had a large order of food delivered on Saturday as we had some family visiting & have to say everything was fab. Food was delicious & hats off to Maria & staff for excellent service.

Our choice of takeaway was the Calzone, which was first class with the fillings probably the best in our area.

This is my go to takeaway for the area. It’s always really busy so the food is fresh cooked. During lockdown you can order either by phoning, using the app or in person. Everyone stands, socially distant and in masks on the pavement, the staff are at the door and collect your order, number or name and take payment by contactless. I always get a fish supper and it’s always good. That’s why it’s my go to weekly chippy.

Bit cold standing outside but it wasn't too long and it was worth it

Now I remember why I tend to collect, rather than order a delivery. 16" pizza was missing from order, driver phoned shop and was told someone would bring it, she still had other deliveries to do, well the shop waited until she had done the deliveries and went back to shop. By the time it arrived the chips, which were delivered originally, were going cold. Driver was full of apologies but feel as it was shops mistake they should have had someone deliver it quicker, not even a free can of juice or chocolate bar to apologise. Very disappointed in the quality of the service from the shop.

I advise no one to get a delivery from the golden fry I called this evening at 10 past 5 for a hamburger supper so an 1 hour and 20 minutes go past no sign of the delivery so I called them they said that my order was on it way another 45 minutes goes past still no sign after 2 hours and 5 minutes so I called them and cancelled the order ridiculous and they lied and said it was already on it way

No problems using online ordering, mostly prompt delivery, cheery service. Food fresh cooked and tasty. Relatives missing coming to visit as they are missing their fish suppers...the best!

Placed an order and picked it up, was told it'd be ready in 15 minutes, arrived just as it was boxed perfect. 2 doner kebabs and a small bag of chips, kebabs still hot when I got home, loads of meat in the kebabs, all in all very tasty indeed. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Long queue when I visited tonight - many customers picking up orders (which are made up when they enter the shop)- also delivery orders being made up ! The food when I finally was served was hot & delicious though ! The staff were obviously busy but still smiling & cheerful!
