Katrine Cafe in Stirling

Went here for a lunch. The cafe has a pleasant aspect but lacks ambiance, in fact is more like a works canteen. The food is basic. I had soup and a sandwich which were basic in ingredients and presentation. Didn’t enjoy them. You also have to pay a minimum of £3 to park in order to eat there. No refunds given if you eat in the cafe.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and wasn't impressed. A quite flustered male was serving behind the counter, and the cakes were stale. Not great :(

Steam ship cruise was very good on Walter Scott. Cafe was fine. Hot food was served quickly (and was delicious), scones were dry, and staff were friendly & very helpful. Great service all round.

As a family of 4 we had a voucher for afternoon tea at the cafe after our boat trip along Loch Katrine. It was lovely, cosy and welcoming after a cold trip on the water. We were told we could swap the afternoon teas for pizza for the kids if we wanted which we did so we have two cheese pizzas and two afternoon teas. Food was quick and staff were friendly. The pizza were lovely kids polished them off. The afternoon tea was huge, we were really impressed with the quantity and how fresh the sandwiched were. Would recommend and we will return.

We went to the cafe after a two hour boat cruise on the Loch. Only wanted something light so a toastie with ham, cheese and tomato was ideal it came with nice fresh salad and crisps. After ordering it soon came out nice and hot and tasty. Enjoyed it . The cafe is in a great spot overlooking the piers, nice to see the boats leave and return. A lovely stone building with outside seating also for nice weather days

wow got a take away breakfast here my one holiday treat while having a few nights away in the van . made a great brunch and so delicious if you want al a carte while away dont miss this chefs cookin xxx

Lovely cafe with great views over pier and loch Katrine. Delicious food. Well cooked and presented and very good value . We had coffee before our loch cruise and it was probably the best latte I have ever had. Went back for a light lunch and was not disappointed.A little gem. Well worth a visit.

Went at 10am for breakfast, Not another customer there. Menu seemed to be a roll with various fillings and coud not see veg option Asked for a toastie instead, Girl said cant have as toastie machine not warmed? Asked what veg optians for a roll and was told they might have veg sausage which I ordered she went to check and came back to say did not have ! She said you can have cooked bfast ? I asked is it vegatarian ? No🤣 I order 2 rolls and potatoe scones Came honestly burn black not edible🤑 Only 2 customers and cant even cook a potatoe scone Got 2 cakes which were not kept in a chilled b area and soft andwarm on a very hot day.Shocking place could be a gold mine as loads of people outside for boat trip

We stopped by here for a quick lunch before cycling around the Loch and also after for a snack. The staff were super friendly and the prices were alright. There was a decent selection of drinks though there was no beer on tap. The food however was very hit and miss so -1 star. The Ham & Cheese toastie was great, but the Coronation Chicken toastie has zero taste. The pizza was mediocre but the Raspberry Ripple was out of this world. The outside area was very nice and let's face it, it's the only place you can buy drinks and food here, so have a seat - it's pretty good.

Really pleasant lunch on the terrace of the cafe. Very nice staff and good sandwiches at a good price. Would recommend calling in if you visit Loch Katrine.

Extremely disappointing. No food available. Do not depend on eating here. We arrived very hungry after a long walk, and were looking forward to a meal in the cafe before a boat trip on Loch Katrine. On going to the counter at midday to ask for a menu, we were told that they were not serving food, only teas, coffees and cakes. No soup, no sandwiches, nothing. Quite clearly this cafe can not cope with a mix of booked bus tours and general public. And they are happy to leave customers hungry. This was not advertised in any way; the sign outside still advertised main meals, fish and chips, salads, etc. The boat tour was also telling people to go there for food.

Travelled with a Coach party & had an excellent group meal of soup & various sandwiches - very enjoyable.

I have never had such an awful toasted ham and cheese sandwich! The cheese hadn’t even gone soft, far to much butter on the bread, accompanying crisps were stale! Not a great experience and certainly not worth the money.

great breakfast for the non veggie. veggie sausages not brilliant lots of food though. you def won’t go hungry.. lovely views over the loch.

We arrived a little late for one of the boats so we decided to have something to eat at the cafe. The snack was good, it would have been nice if the weather was better and we could sit outside as the view was nice. We then went for a boat ride which was very nice. Overall a relaxing day.

We arrived at The Steamship Cafe at 3.30pm on Saturday after a lovely 4 hour walk, with a good appetite and ready for a sit down and relax. Although the board said the cafe was open till 5pm, hot food finished at 4pm - Oh, good, we thought and went to get our order in. The lady at the till said no, kitchen is closed! No hot food, so we asked for a sandwich. No, kitchen is closed. Cake & tea/coffee only - no sandwiches. We obviously looked pretty disappointed, so she went on to explain ‘We’ve been busy today, so the kitchen closed early’. No apologies. We made do with a cuppa and a bag of crisps & sat on the terrace. A lovely view, but in rather depressing surroundings - grubby, uncleared tables, cigarette butts in the borders, unswept floors, unfriendly staff who really couldn’t care less. The Steamship Cafe obviously relies on their captive audience of one time visitors.

We were staying in the pods at loch katrine and we visited for breakfast on the first morning to order some hot rolls and toasties which were all delicious, so much so we were planning on having something later on before it was meant to close but when we went in to order they were telling everyone in the que that hot food had stopped at 3.30pm which disappointed quite a few customers. They clearly lost a lot of money which the charity clearly needs. Not great business sense in our opinion so much so we didn't return over the next 3 days so lost even more business from us!

Don’t expect anything from the 21C when visiting the cafe at loch Katrine. We had planned a day out which included a trip out on the loch. We’d booked the 1pm sailing to build in time to lunch first. We knew there was a café...

Lovely location with friendly service and ok food. They are also very dog friendly. The terrace has a lovely view overlooking the steam boat and offers glimpses of what look like a lovely loch

The cafe is upstairs (lift available) with views down the loch. Pleasant staff who gave fairly quick service at lunchtime. We had the soup and toasties combo. Vegetable soup wholesome and the cheese and onion toasties well filled - ham and tomato likewise. Covid regulations...

By placing the cafe at an upper level the experience is enhanced by the views. The choice of food is wide enough to satisfy most tastes with efficient self service for ordering.

Lovely little cafe on the banks of Loch Katrine. Fast, efficient service and plenty of choice. Option to sit outdoors - only thing that spoils this is that smoking is allowed in the area where clearly people are eating - this was the most disappointing...

We love Loch Katrine. Friendly, friendly place. From the steam ship, to the cycle hire to the cafe and ice-cream hatch. All really friendly and nice fish and chips. Thank you.

Se supone que el café abrirá a las 9: 30 como nos dijeron en la tienda de regalos que abrió diez minutos tarde, esto debe ser una garantía regular ya que a la mujer en la tienda de regalos se le pregunta esto todo el tiempo. Cuando se abrieron, tuvimos que pedirles que encendieran el ascensor para que mi madre discapacitada pudiera acompañarnos después de haber estado esperando fuera del ascensor durante diez minutos. Explicamos que estábamos en el crucero a las 10:30 y esto sería un problema, ya que realizamos nuestro pedido de dos desayunos de capitanes y una tortilla simple a las 9:45 que nos dijeron que no. Solo había otras dos personas en el café antes que nosotros, así que no esperé una larga espera hasta qué punto estábamos equivocados. Fui y saqué algunos cubiertos de la bandeja, en la cual solo había dos tenedores y uno de ellos había secado los alimentos, así que volví al mostrador para pedir más y me dijeron que tendría que esperar. Seguramente, si abres a las 9: 30, tu personal debería estar allí a las 8: 30 para asegurarse de que las placas calientes y todo lo demás estén en su lugar y listos para un inicio a las 9: 30. A las 10: 15 y el barco había comenzado a abordar y se estaba llenando rápidamente, a diferencia de nuestros estómagos, volvimos a preguntar nuevamente sobre el progreso de nuestro pedido y nos informaron cinco minutos. 10: 20 nuestros desayunos salieron en cajas de cartón para que pudiéramos comerlos en el bote. Esto no es lo que queríamos hacer ya que debes comerlo en tu regazo, ya que no hay mesas en la cubierta del barco. Mientras mi novia y mi madre se metían en sus desayunos, me dejaron sosteniendo al perro mientras mi desayuno se enfriaba. La tortilla estaba hecha y gomosa, mientras que habían puesto la mantequilla para las tostadas con los desayunos calientes, así que para cuando subieron al bote, la mantequilla se había derretido durante todo el desayuno, lo que lo empeoró aún más. La calidad de los ingredientes es mala por decir lo menos. Champiñones enlatados pan barato, incluso el perro no comería un poco, la mayor parte de la comida quedó sin comer. Mi desayuno se fue directamente al contenedor sin abrir. Si hubieran sido honestos y nos dijeran que la comida no estaría lista, nos ahorraría 30 y no tendrían esta crítica mordaz. Solo quieren tu dinero y eso se nota en la actitud del personal. El personal no profesional necesita una nueva capacitación, reemplazo o un reloj de alarma para que puedan levantarse lo suficientemente temprano para que puedan actuar juntos antes de abrirse al público. ¡No volveremos NUNCA! ! ! ! !

Alimentos frescos y bebidas disponibles sin alcohol o alcohólicas si no está manejando. El amable personal que estaba muy ocupado en nuestra visita. En las horas punta (el barco que regresa) puede estar ocupado, pero el personal hace todo lo posible lo más rápido posible para asegurarse de que se cumplan sus necesidades. George (estoy seguro de que ese era el nombre de Gents que nos atendió) fue educado y profesional. Quedó claro que se habían estirado en cuanto al personal, pero no tenía sentido sacarlos del personal ya que hacen todo lo posible para asegurarse de que tengas una gran experiencia.

Had the homemade lasagne and garlic bread which was delicious. My partner had the burger and chips which was superb. Just what we needed after cycling to the end of the loch and back. We will be back.

We always divert to go to this cafe. The scones are home made and the welcome warm and sincere. Last time we brought my daughter's dog and the owner brought out a dog bowl of water and some treats. Now that really is amazing

Booked for afternoon tea after a cruise with the family ,staff warm and friendly tea served right away, there was plenty to eat but fillings on the sandwiches could have been better . I would describe this tea as average ,value for money but not great

Stopped off for lunch before our boat trip. What lovely staff! The waiter did a wee coin trick to entertain my grandson whilst we were waiting to order. Lovely baked potatoes and sabdwiches. Thank you!

Perfectly located at the head of Loch Katrine with good views overlooking the boat dock. Whether just a tea/coffee stop or something more substantial this is a good place for a break.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch here. Prices were reasonable. The food was very good too. It offers many filling if you choose to have a jacket potato. There are afternoon teas and it's licenced.

Nos detuvimos para tomar el té y el pastel después de caminar por Ben A'an para un regalo de bienvenida después de una fantástica caminata. Ordenó desde el mostrador y consiguió un buen asiento junto a la ventana. Lamentablemente, la mala selección de tartas como agotadas (era 15:00 por la tarde) pero lo que estaba en oferta estaba bien. Puedes tomar el té de la tarde, pero mucha gente dejó el suyo, no estoy seguro por qué. Estacionamiento fácil, pero 3. Bonito camina alrededor del lago, en caminos asfaltados.

Íbamos en una vela a las 2. 30 pm y decidí llegar temprano y almorzar en la cafetería.

¡Solo tomamos un café con leche y soy muy quisquilloso a la hora de revisar mis lattes! Era tibio, no era bueno, pero realmente no me podía fingir llevarlo de vuelta y pedirles que lo calentaran nuevamente. Asientos fuera con vistas preciosas. Subimos los escalones para llegar al café, pero creo que hay otra entrada al otro lado que es más fácil para los menos móviles. El café parecía limpio y aireado, pero parecía un poco caro para lo que era. El personal es muy joven pero educado y profesional. Lo probaría para el almuerzo.

Limited range of 3 draught beers, lager, Best & Guinness, but tea and coffee, ice creams and light meals and snacks, clean facilities with lift for less able, has steep steps up outside, but view is fabulous.

El café es encantador con vistas al muelle con excelentes vistas. Hay una buena selección de comida que es servida por personal servicial. Está limpio y bien cuidado y tiene un ascensor para los visitantes con discapacidad, ya que el café está situado en el primer piso.

Here for a Steam Boat Club Rally. 10 boats and we all enjoyed a super evening meal here with a haggis especially piped in for us. Excellent.

Having trouble with lift for disabled customers while I was there, but they did manage to get it working for me. We only had sandwiches which were good. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Although a cafeteria style operation, the food is fine and prices reasonable. the facility is clean and tidy. It can be a little crowded during peak periods.

This was very basic when I last visited but has not been given a face lift and new management and is much better.

We had coffee and cakes here which were nice but a little more expensive than other places nearby. Lovely outdoor seating area if the weather is good.

Very relaxed while enjoying your food in front of the great scenary. Lake Katrine was the most beautiful lake I visited so far.

Pleasant staff, fairly average cake and a good place to refresh your tastebuds whilst either waiting for the boat trip...or sheltering from the rain. Nice walk around Loch Katrine go from here too. Would we go again - ...maybe!

This review is based on me and my family only having had hot drinks and cakes, late on a sunday afternoon, but it told us all we needed to know - the cafe is very overpriced, and the quality of the cakes was no where near to others we had had locally in "lesser" billed establishments. The setting is lovely, by the loch pier, but thats it. Basically they have a captive audience, as if your there, thres no-where else nearby to go to for alternative. We had rocky road cakes and coffee and hot chocolate, nothing brilliant, rocky road was very hard and not very tasty, drinks were luke warm and VERY expensive, £20 for 4 hot drinks and 4 small pieces of cake! Next time it'll be picnic we take. Sorry Katrine cafe, hope your dinners are better value than your snacking...a measly 3 out of 5.
