The Sandwich Station

Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, <20£
16/06/2019: From the outside the building looks like a small snack/shed but the moment you step indoors you’re greeted by a friendly face and a delicious range of sandwiches to cater for every tastebud.
13/06/2019: Visited The Sandwich Station while exploring the northern part of the island. Had delicious Arran Blue Cheese sourdough sandwich. All sandwiches are freshly made to order and use locally sourced ingredients. Excellent choice of imaginative fillings. Sitting outside is not a problem in fine weather. Keep up the good work!

Crown Inn

Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire, <20£
16/06/2019: Called in for a few drinks, very relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.
13/06/2019: We love the crown and visit frequently and since the new management took over a couple of years ago and the new chef Moggie joined, the food has been consistently good. We heard that new menus were comng and as we had a couple of friends visiting from Netherlands we thought we'd give it a go.

The Chestnuts Hotel Restaurant

Ayr West, South Ayrshire
15/06/2019: From the breakfast to the evening dinner we can highly recommend the resteraunt and the food. The staff are very friendly and really helpful. The atmosphere is very good and the same food is served both in the bar area and the resteraunt. We were staying in the hotel and the locals seemed to be regulars which is a good sign.
12/06/2019: This is a short review as I cant find anything negative to say about our evening at the Chestnuts Restaurant. Service, Drinks, Food, Prices. Book a table and go - soon !!

The Blair

Annick, East Ayrshire
18/06/2019: had a great meal on fathers day - great service - plenty of options for all - very good vegan menu although not vegan tried a couple from the menu - very good curry - warm greeting and very pleasant staff - - others tried the chicken dishes - huge portions, although very busy did not have to wait to be served and food services at a nice timely breaks - will go back again - hopefully soon
12/06/2019: We booked The Blair after a recommendation and as had never been had lunch to check it out. We didn’t hesitate and booked it straight away best decision we made. 16 of us descend on the 8th of June and from the moment we arrived the staff were warm welcoming and attentive. There was something on the menu to suit everyone and the food was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and my mum made some wonderful memories. The kitchen staff saved the day when the birthday cake had a malfunction and the staff on the floor went out of their way to make sure everyone was well looked after. All I can say is a heartfelt thank you for making my mums birthday a day to remember.

John Carrigan's Blantyre

Stags Pavilion

Irvine West, North Ayrshire
01/08/2017: This little tucked-away restaurant is not to be missed if one visits Arran. Reservations are a must and should be made several days in advance, especially during the busy summer months. I ate here with my mother, my sister who has celiac disease and my 13-year-old niece. All of us ate well, even my niece who is a finicky eater. Kids menu was expansive and suited many palates and kids and regular menu had large portions at reasonable prices. The staff were well able to accommodate my sister's special dietary needs and she ate well here, more than in other fancier restaurants we visited on our tour of Europe. I ate Arran lamb, which was tasty, and my mother ordered several platters for the table, all of which were delicious. We were very stuffed when we left, too stuffed for dessert, which I regret missing out on. I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant, and although the interior is small, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy. . It was just wonderful to eat my delicious dinner while gazing out at the Scottish hills covered in mist and fog. Loved it, would go back for sure.
01/10/2016: Stayed at Butts Lodge 150 yards away and this and only local pub are the only places that serve evening meals. This does not have a drinks licence but you can take your own and they supply the glasses without any charge. Great selection of food, decent prices and superb service.
