26/11/2023: Sunday lunch the 26th of November and fully booked months ago. Easy to see why....Fantastic food great ambience and service. Very relaxing better than any Glasgow or London experience. Starters of local crab and stuffed mushrooms followed by the most delightful local lamb and beautifully cooked Haddock.Topped of by a lovely home made carmel and apple pie....a byo and no corkage charge . A big thankyou to bRino? In the kitchen and wonderful service from Valirie and Jessica..Alan and Christina Dunn Largs....a must visit for good food lovers.

Stags Pavilion
Irvine West, North Ayrshire
01/08/2017: This little tucked-away restaurant is not to be missed if one visits Arran. Reservations are a must and should be made several days in advance, especially during the busy summer months. I ate here with my mother, my sister who has celiac disease and my 13-year-old niece. All of us ate well, even my niece who is a finicky eater. Kids menu was expansive and suited many palates and kids and regular menu had large portions at reasonable prices. The staff were well able to accommodate my sister's special dietary needs and she ate well here, more than in other fancier restaurants we visited on our tour of Europe. I ate Arran lamb, which was tasty, and my mother ordered several platters for the table, all of which were delicious. We were very stuffed when we left, too stuffed for dessert, which I regret missing out on. I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant, and although the interior is small, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy. . It was just wonderful to eat my delicious dinner while gazing out at the Scottish hills covered in mist and fog. Loved it, would go back for sure.
01/10/2016: Stayed at Butts Lodge 150 yards away and this and only local pub are the only places that serve evening meals. This does not have a drinks licence but you can take your own and they supply the glasses without any charge. Great selection of food, decent prices and superb service.

Trafalgar Restaurant
Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire
15/12/2016: So sad to find out that Wolfie and his wife have retired. There food and service were fabulous. I wish them all the best, but, I will miss them and their fabulous restaurant.

Biggar Flavour
Clydesdale East, South Lanarkshire
03/07/2019: Sadly the Biggar Flavour bakery shop closed on 29 June 2019. The owners continue to operate "The Orchard" next door where some of their bakery products are still made available along with jams, preserves, etc. The main difference is that they no longer provide sandwiches, ready made meals or hot savoury items.
09/04/2019: Myself along with my family use this bakery frequently. From birthday sponges, boxes of small cakes for parties to getting a quick lunch. Always fresh and tasty. Great customer service from all the staff and today I dropped my money without noticing and the owner chased after me to return it. Thanks again!

Kilmichael Country House Hotel Restaurant
Ardrossan and Arran, North Ayrshire, 45-60£
22/08/2017: Just in case someone drives up to the front door .. this place is closed as the proprietors have retired .. what a shame as it was easily as good as Glasgow / Edinburgh's finest..
17/09/2016: Restaurantes en estilo elegante. Los alrededores son lujosos, con comida deliciosa y vinos.

01/10/2022: Lovely spot for a late snack lunch.
So nice to find somewhere with unique character.
The apple and blackberry sponge took me right back to being in the kitchen with my Mum ❤️.
Also had a great chat with a couple who were out cycling.
31/01/2021: Poor service/ rudeness.
Felt so unwelcome. Due failed communication via with pre-order from their Instagram 2-4 days ago advance. Staff rude no apologies wasn’t helpful

Stablestone Tea Room, Home & Garden
Clydesdale South, South Lanarkshire
17/11/2018: We stopped in the afternoon for a late lunch and met Jim and Anne. He had been in Canada and we found we had a mutual interest in Clydesdale horses. Turns out, after quite a bit of research, that our Clydes are related to his families horses, through Union Jack, back to our families Clydesdale stud Baron's Pride as far back as late 1800's. Thanks for your great hospitality and information, and we did find almost all of the ancestors we were looking for. Hope to get back someday, we were there on May 26, 2018, sorry it has taken so long to send a review, and I am also sorry I didn't get back for the "Scottish Breakfast" . Take good care, and if you ever get back to Canada, look us up, I believe Llana gave you her card.
24/06/2018: We called in on our way home from attending the Moffat Classic Car show and were very glad we did. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The service was friendly and welcoming. There is off road parking at the front of the tea room. A very good place to stop.

The Sugar Cube
Ayr West, South Ayrshire
04/09/2019: Lovely little coffee shop which also does meals. Fabulous Clootie Dumpling Scones are a must try and at £2.75 for a coffee and scone well worth a visit.
11/04/2017: Went there with wife, sister and (female) cousin for afternoon tea. We had a great afternoon out - and everything passed the scrutiny of my three guests - with flying colours.

The Drawing Room
Avondale and Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire
30/12/2023: A visit to The Parlour with friends this evening and we could not have been made more welcome.
What a beautiful atmosphere and lovely attentive staff.
Tonight was their tapas menu and even though we hadn't booked we were welcomed in and rather than wait for service to begin we were offered the choice of their sharing charcuterie platter ... OMG it was amazing and well worth the money.
This is the place to be for a chilled out classy evening with friends or a loved one ... the boys have certainly put the haven in the name of our little town.
Can't wait to visit again.
11/12/2023: New owners new rules, all change inside and do not dare to question the owners decision to change things. Permission needed before posting any negative comment. The thought police are controlling the public forums. Used to be a 5* review such a lovely manager, friendly and appreciated his customers. Food remains excellent under Yvette's culinary skills.

Doon the Beach
Saltcoats and Stevenston, North Ayrshire
01/03/2024: Surprised and delighted to find a cafe here, just what all the walkers and cyclists want. A good car park and outside seating if you want. A friendly greeting and a good easy to follow menu with fair prices. You are served at your table and they have plenty of home baking and treats for the dogs. Useful local information board and a popular place with plenty of banter.
26/01/2024: Friendly as ever and the food is just the best
The staff and volunteers are welcoming and genuinely dog friendly, just love going there

Woody's Ice Cream
Ballochmyle, East Ayrshire
27/09/2020: We decided to pay a wee visit to our favourite ice cream shop, it's about 35 miles round trip but worth it. We got some wispa gold cookie doughs, kit Kat cheesecake and white choc dazzle ice cream, which were all delicious and portions were good sizes. The ice cream is all made from fresh ayrshire cows milk which makes the ice cream so creamy.Definitely worth paying this little hidden gem a visit!
31/07/2020: Always a pleasure coming here. It's well worth the thirty mile round trip. Always a good choice of flavours.

Fran's Coffee House
Irvine West, North Ayrshire
24/02/2024: This is a wee gem of a place. Great food and coffee and a varied menu to choose from plus a daily special. The food and drinks are made with good quality ingredients and everything is very reasonably price and represents great value for money. After the famous Glasgow Rangers 😉 all the staff in here are clearly the A Team ! 🙌 .... Lyndsay, Dawn, Gaby and Souper Davie (the Cook - his soups are delicious 😋). If you are in or around Irvine get yourself along here to sit-in or takeaway some food and drinks - you won't regret it.
08/10/2023: Whenever we're in the area, we always pop in! Great atmosphere and always a warm welcome! Easily the best cafe in Irvine!
