Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland, 60-100£
23/01/2019: We were staying a 2 minute drive away and the owners of our cottage told us about Loch Bay. The owner is the Michelin star chef, previously from the Three Chimneys they said. We couldn’t believe our luck…. So I sent an e-mail to make a reservation but received no reply. As we were wandering down to the quay I thought I would pop in only to be told that they couldn’t take my enquiry and would need to wait for a reply to my e-mail. Not rude, but certainly odd.
10/01/2019: We had dinner on two successive nights at Loch Bay and really enjoyed everything.

Anderson's Restaurant

Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, 20-30£
18/12/2018: This guy can cook...for anyone who has never tried Andersons...well you are missing out big style. Every time we stay at Aviemore we always take a trip to Andersons...it is the highlight of our week...definitely the best food in the area. A wonderful meal last night...along with fantastic service. It is just simply a great experience from booking to paying the bill. Well done to all the staff at Andersons....till we are back again. Merry Christmas Guys...have a great well earned break. From The Brown Family From Stirling
14/12/2018: An excellent meal from start to finish. Waiters were very welcoming and quick to seat us and get drinks. Food was second to none and good portions with beautiful presentation. I’m so glad I’ve finally found somewhere up here that has that extra bit of quality in their food. When the bill came we were very surprised by just how good value it was for the satisfaction. Go here.

Plockton Shores Restaurant

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, 30-45£
13/02/2019: Fabulous meal, fabulous service, quiet but out of tourist season which is good for us locals. We had starters, mains and shared desert for a lovely lunchtime birthday treat.
20/01/2019: The young lady who greeted us on arrival, and was also our server, was lovely, and we felt confident that we would have a nice meal, and so it turned out.

12/02/2019: Close to the Lochaline ferry this gem of a restaurant is a must to visit ( booking advised) .Rustic in decor with imaginative well flavoured seasonal cuisine. I have had several visits and each one was unique and special. Cannot recommend too highly. Make a special visit from Mull or plan your journey around this restaurant .
03/01/2019: I cant wait to come back to eat seafood in your restaurant again. That was so amazing. Really good place to relax good staff. Thank you very much LuisP

The Wee Puffin

Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, <20£
20/02/2019: Cant say anything bad about this place. Very good service. Very friendly staff. Good value for money. Ordered a burger and OMG it was the biggest burger I have tried to eat. I couldn't finish the portion. Best place to eat in town.
18/02/2019: Visited during a weekend stay in Grantown on Spey and this place definitely had the best value for money out of the places we ate in the town. The service was good. The food I had was good but not great; I had fish and chips and the fish wasn't the freshest tasting. The starter sharer for 2 people only had 1 slice of garlic bread and 1 puffin/haggis ball which seemed a bit stingey. However overall still had a good time and nice meal.

Digby Chick

Steòrnabhagh a Deas, Eilean Siar
22/01/2019: We booked in for a mid week treat after reading all the fantastic reviews, and oh my god we had the most exceptional service and food that we’ve had in a long long time!!
03/01/2019: This is a brilliant restaurant with an excellent menu where you can guarantee a great meal every visit. We go regularly as a couple and cannot fault it. Early bird and lunches are great value for money. Evening menu a little more pricey but worth it for quality food.

Single Track

Eilean a' Chèo, Highland
19/01/2019: We went out of our way twice to have the hot chocolate at Single Track Cafe...ON THE SAME DAY! That might just be an indication of a bigger problem (ahem, chocoholics), but it was in our minds the best hot chocolate we'd ever had. And of course, the best thing on a cold blustery day like the day we were out to hike the Quairang. One to warm us up before and another afterward.
31/10/2018: We popped in here for a coffee on a recommendation from Skye-based friends and weren't disappointed. Soup, coffee & cakes later off we went! What a great spot to live & work with the constantly changing views of Kilmaluag Bay almost on the doorstep.

The Pier Cafe

North, West and Central Sutherland, Highland
21/01/2019: in a location without many options...the pier was so quaint and wonderful. we almost just picked up chips and soda at a gas station but i asked if there were any good restaurants nearby. YES! the ambiance was sweet, my salad was very fresh. a little cup of soup and a pretty mocha with a sailboat. so cute.
28/12/2018: We ate here last summer by accident - and loved it. This Christmas week we've been twice and it gets better and better - really wonderful atmosphere and wonderful cuisine. And, THANK GOODNESS, NO DOGS! More and more we have found restaurants falling over backwards to accommodate modern pets - almost invariably spoilt and badly behaved. I don't think you'll find better food anywhere in the Highlands - and it's not even expensive. Make a detour of 25 miles if you have to. Great beers and wine too. We look forward to going back there on our next trip.

Oakwood Restaurant

Inverness West, Highland
05/01/2019: First of all the Oakwood Restaurant sits about 4 miles west of inverness on the Loch ness road. A beautiful spot to take a walk as we did with our dog to the start of the river Ness along the Caledonian Canal looking at the boats and working up an appetite.
28/12/2018: Had mixed seafood at Oakwood and it was delicious . Gorgeous mix of beautiful fish in a very tasty sauce , accompanied by melody of vegetables . Well worth trying ! Food Superb . Lovely atmosphere .Definetly worth visiting .

North Harbour Bistro & Tearoom

Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch, Eilean Siar
31/12/2018: My girlfriend and I attended the Bistro on a day out to Harris. We had read good things about the Bistro and were keen to try it out. The building from the outside does not convey the delight that are contained within. We eat seafood a lot and regularly eat out and so to experience these unique flavours and dishes exceeded all our expectations. SUPERB ALL ROUND, highly recommended.
12/12/2018: The look the outside of the North Harris Bistro & Tearoom is not revealing the very special cuisine inside. As the building used to be the community shop and bistro, it is not architectural delighting as the the meals served there. But don't hesitate, just walk in. You get all the fresh local fish and seafood not just well prepared, but served as beautiful looking, even better tasting dishes. And as this attracts more and more visitors, be sure to book a table.

Nannys Shop

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, >100£
07/11/2018: Visited here in October, stopped by for nice bowl of chowder which was lovely and location is really nice but we can't really say the same for the staff, as a group we just felt that they were a bit abrupt at times. One of the ladies who worked there also asked a customer to locate to another table to accommodate a larger group which is really bad I think!! Probably will go back there when we visit again, just to give it another chance, perhaps they were having a bad day.
01/11/2018: Lovely setting and lovely little village but why so expensive? £3.20 for a small slice of cake? Take plenty of cash with you if visiting.

The Potting Shed

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland, >100£
17/11/2018: We both chose the Applecross Bay prawns which were absolutely delicious and a good portion too. Luckily we just about had enough room for a cranachan for dessert. We both agreed that it was the best cranachan we had ever tasted . Nice setting and lovely waitress. We will definitely be back.
14/11/2018: 3 course meal starter was 4.5/5 main course 4.5/5 and the dessert a disasterous disappointment 1/5 it was like chewing gum and spoilt the meal .. don't go for pavlova

Gille Brighde

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
06/01/2019: As the road to Diabaig twists and turns through glorious mountain scenery you begin to wonder if there really can be a restaurant ahead. But there it most definitely is, in the beautiful little village of Diabaig set around a sheltered bay, and it has been worth every inch of the journey. Excellent food in a most congenial setting; unpretentious and honest cooking at its best.
17/12/2018: 9 hour walk over Being Alligin in scorching temperature we retreated to this fabulous

The Bealach Cafe and Gallery

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh, Highland
18/11/2018: Stopped here for coffee and cake and it was excellent , very friendly staff , great location. Would highly recommend
17/11/2018: Stopped off here after a day out exploring/walking in Kishorn & Shieldaig. Its in a lovely location just at the junction for Shieldaig/the Bealach na Ba. There is also a craft gallery on site, and they sell local honey, jams, etc. They have a good and varied menu, I opted for soup to warm me up - red pepper and lentil which was delicious, followed by rhubarb crumble cake (yum!) and coffee. Very reasonably priced, obviously very popular with locals as well as visitors.
