Myself and my husband booked a table whilst we were on holiday. We got there and were sat in the middle of the room directly behind a table with three people on it. We normally don't like being sat in the centre of the room, but didn't say anything even though there were other two seater tables available. Given menus and asked what drinks we would like. There was no draughted beer or larger so my husband settled for a bottle of cider, I had a fruit juice. Our food arrived in good time, I went for the burger and my husband went for the fish which came in bread crumbs mushy minted peas, only thing was fries not chips? I also had fries which I couldn't eat as they had been salted and I can not take salt. The fish was lovely and so was my burger. We didn't bother with a sweet, or coffees. We did find the place tired and it had no atmosphere. So unfortunately we would not re book.

Great little place, newly reopened. It holds about 20, very friendly and accommodating team and great food. Had haggis fritters in whisky sauce, venison stew and fruit crumble, all were delicious. My non veggie mum raved about her celeriac 'steak'. Would definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

My other half booked the Struy Inn for a birthday dinner while we were staying in Inverness. We knew the area having previously hiked in Glen Strathfarrar closeby, but I didn't appreciate what an incredible restaurant this was. From the warm welcome from Karen and Jim, to the outstanding food, and the charm inside the Inn. this was a perfect evening. I had crab mornay and vension with a finish of ice cream - incredible flavours and the venison was cooked to perfection. Can't possibly recommend highly enough.

Because of the Corona Virus the restaurant isn’t able to open so instead are temporarily providing takeaways. Last week we had fish and chips and this week the cannelloni. Both meals were extremely good as was the service we received. Disappointed not to be able to use the restaurant but would thoroughly recommend the takeaway.

An exceedingly warm welcome from Karen and the lovely log burner. Pre dinner drinks to ponder the menu. The locally sourced ingredients absolutely top off the quality of the menu. Oyster Rockefeller, Haggis Wellington, Halibut, Venison Tenderloin, Chocolate Fondant and Stcky Toffee pudding were our choices, absolutely delicious. No rush, Karen was very attentive throughout, lovely to talk to Jim afterwards in the bar, a very accomplished chef. A MUST visit if you are in the area!

The restaurant is only small with 18 covers and that allows the couple who run it the opportunity to serve excellent food of the highest quality ingredients. The service is attentive and it is always great to see a chef who comes out and chats to his customers. The setting of the tables is predominantly in one room although there are two additional tables in the bar area - a traditional setting but with a homely feel. Will definitely be back

Charming little restaurant. Wonderful food. The website states that Struy Inn is 'unsuitable for children' (we noticed afterwards). However our two (well behaved ;-)) kids aged 8 and 10 were welcome and thoroughly enjoyed Struy Inn (especially the Eton Mess). Since it's quite small it's necessary to book ahead.

We visited this beautiful, charming, cosy little restaurant on the last night of our trip up to the Highlands and what a treat this was. Both me and my husband have agreed how outstanding the food was, simply divine and definitely worth a visit. I opted for the muscles and after visiting many fish restaurants around the world I believe these to be the best I have ever tasted. My husband went for the steak and still (a week later) mentions how special it was. Thank you to the lovely hosts for a beautiful visit, will definitely be back.

The food was amazing, definitely one of the best restaurants we went to in Scotland. We arrived to The Struy Inn a little earlier than our reservation time and Jim and Karen didn’t mind. We were greeted so warmly and were seated next to the fireplace to warm up and order drinks. I tried a local beer that Karen recommended to me and it was fab! We then moved to our table in the dining room and ordered a starter. We decided on the Garlic, Rosemary, & Parmesan flatbread. I DREAM about this flatbread still. If I could, I would have Jim make this and ship it to the states for me!! It is SO good. The absolute best flatbread I have ever have. It was crispy, yet the inside was the right amount of chewy. The cheese and herbs blended together so well. I decided on the lamb shank (after a joke from Karen that went over my head about a lamb running around with three legs) and my partner had the venison tenderloin. I can’t even put into words how good these meals were. My lamb fell right off of the bone and was so juicy and flavorful. The red wine sauce I could drink on its own. SO GOOD! This was the best meal of our entire trip to Scotland and Ireland. My partner loved his venison tenderloin. He said it wasn’t super gamey tasting like venison is over in the states, which was a great thing to him. The service by Jim and Karen was the best service I have ever received at any restaurant that I have ever been. The amount of love these two have for what they do can sure be seen and tasted in their dishes. We had to have dessert and Karen recommended the Sticky Toffee Pudding...and let me tell you, the night prior we had a Sticky Toffee Pudding that we said could never be beat, and The Struy Inn once again beat all of its competitors. The BEST Sticky Toffee Pudding I have ever tasted. It was perfect. The sauce was amazing. Just wow. Not only did Karen serve us, she helped us out tremendously with our Isle of Skye tour that we had planned for the next day. We were so lost and had no idea where to even meet and her detective skills found exactly where we meet and who to talk to. If it wasn’t for her, we would have missed our tour. So thank you, Karen and Jim, for sharing your amazing talents. I will never forget this dining experience. So much love to the both of you!

We ate here a couple of times during the past week, the first was the Struy’s fish and chip take away and the second time a meal in their restaurant. The fish and chips are to die for, cooked fresh and plenty of it. I rang in advance to order and because I was a little early we sat and had a drink in front of the wood burner with a nice glass of wine. At the time the Inn was quite so they set a table up for us and we eat in. Our second visit was to have a meal in their restaurant and our meal was wonderful. My wife had the lobster, myself a steak and sister in law chicken. Our starters consisted of shell fish and haggis. Each and every meal was just perfect. Our hosts were very polite and friendly and the service spot on. I have no hesitation in recommending the Struy for fish and chips or a table meal,

My pet hate as a wheelchair user with a really big chair . Is not always to do with access but how the environment and the people and staff within the restaurant make me feel ... I went to struy Inn for first time.. I had the Haggis Starter and the Pan fried scallops the food was the best I had ever eaten, portions were perfect. But how I was accommodated for and was treated made the whole experience perhaps the best dining experience Ive had. My friends had phoned ahead and therefore I was seated on the same level as the gents toilet and if I had been female it would have been at a different table on the female toilets level . The table was just as I came through the door and had been moved before I got there it was all very discreet. On this particular night we got to spend time with the owners which was fascinating. The building is old so the doors will only accommodate an medium size wheelchair but if you can walk on crutches or rollator once through I had tons of space for a massive wheelchair. I never used the toilets so unsure of the facilities or space. My advice is phone through before you go let them know your needs in terms of access or dietary and the restaurant will accommodate ... I am so looking forward to going back. This place is a hidden gem .

Ok we didn't actually find this place ourselves, it was recommended, but what a recommendation!!!This restaurant is effectively the front room of the host & chef's house, with a bar in it. The couple are the only staff and they run this place in their own style. And we loved the intimacy of the place. There are only 5(!) tables for dinner (they don't do lunch) so you are best to book to avoid disappointment. The menu isn't the biggest but that doesn't matter because the quality is through the roof. They have refined the menu to just offer some absolutely amazing dishes. I had the langoustines tails to start and I don't think I have ever had better. They were perfectly cooked and the flavours were unreal. The Fillet of Sea Bass we both had for our mains was just some of the best fish we have had. Wonderful. Again the flavours were unreal. And the accompaniments were selected worked so well. The chef is self-taught and is clearly a natural as he got it spot on for all of the food we had. The host was down to earth, friendly and spent time with all of her guests. When we go back to the area this place will be top of our list of places to eat. The quality of the food would be befitting of a top London restaurant. I think you will struggle to find better.

A quaint little place with immaculate service and a good selection of really delicious meals for travelers looking for the "authentic" experience. Aside note:While we were there the proprietors were raising two young owls sitting in a large cage and we immediately had an interesting and very informative conversation. There are numerous falcons and owls outside in confinement, leashed by their legs to their post so they don't wander too far within their cage which did raise questions regarding animal welfare. I'll admit, I'm neither an expert nor can I in any way judge to what degree this is animal-friendly or not. This falconry is the other part of the business and/or hobby.

The owner/waitress is most welcoming & juggled well between serving tables & chatting to locals (some of whom were there to collect carry out fish suppers). Puddings were also well presented but a little sweet. Overall, a lovely experience.

Very friendly reception and service throughout from the lovely couple who run the Struy Inn. Everything superbly cooked and presented. All our dishes - the hake, duck and sirloin steak - were delicious. The desserts, especially the syrup and stem ginger tart, were also outstanding. A shame we are leaving tomorrow. We would have certainly revisited. Highly recommended

Such a lovely couple run the Struy Inn !! You feel at home and special as soon as you walk through the door. A small bar and restaurant, that serves up an exquisite menu of fresh locally sourced food. (And also does take-away fish and chips!!) Not open all week so I'd recommend you check. The drive out is very well worth the trip. Excellent menu of whisky - Macallan being the most costly but a rare taste for a special celebration.

At last I can review the Struy Inn, we went in last week with my sister and her husband. Karen and Jim made us so welcome. We ordered drinks and sat near to the wood burner till our meals were nearly ready and then went into the dining room. The main meals were excellent but the deserts were to die for...the treacle tart was out of this world. After the meal we went back in to the bar area and after a little while Jim came out and had a little chat (he had finished cooking for the evening)It is hard to believe that Karen and Jim run the place on their own and make every visitor feel so at home. Will be back in the area hopefully in August and will eat in here again !

The Struy Inn is, without question, the best place that we have found to eat since moving to the Highlands. The excellently cooked, locally sourced ingredients, warm welcome, good wine list and comfortable surroundings put this restaurant at the top of our list. We love their seafood, fish, beef and venison dishes, particularly the scallops, langoustines and sea bass.

We were lucky enough to be taken here as a Christmas present when visiting friends. We were made to feel very welcome in this warm, intimate environment. We had dietary requirements which were very well catered for including making sure they provided gluten free bread. The food was fantastic and if we lived closer, we'd definitely be eating there on a regular basis.

Having passed this inn earlier in the week only to find it closed we decided to give it a try. What a wonderful find it was. The inn is run by husband and wife team. We were shown to a lounge area, and had per dinner drinks. We ordered chicken and the langostines as a main portion, and boy was it good. The best langostines were the best I've ever tasted. The attention to detail and service were what you would expect from a top restaurant. It was soo good we've booked to stay over the Easter weekend.

A great discovery with the most wonderful food, especially the venison and scallops. Well worth the walk from Eagle Brae (40 Minutes).

It's a real treat to find a local establishment serving quality local ingredients well cooked and beautifully presented .We had a fantastic Saturday evening hear , in the traditional yet romantic setting .Our langoustine and devilled mushroom starters were both perfect and so tasty they offered an insight for what was still to come . The main courses of seabass and a special of the night lobster Thermidor were both amazing in particular the wonderful lobster served with a selection of the finest local veg. Pavlova and sticky toffee pudding offered the perfect way to round off our meal . The Struy Inn gets ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

This place is perfect. The food is fantastic and the menu has a good choice. Something for everyone. And if you are gluten-free even better. You will be well looked after if you let them know. If you are after good service, plenty of drink and great tasting food then eat here. We had the perfect evening to celebrate my birthday.Even better if you can get there without having to drive then there is the possibility that the chef will happily drive you home once he has finished cooking. Especially if you are staying at Eagle Brae. A really nice touch and made the whole evening special. A REAL GEM,

My wife and I stayed here for one night during a weekend away. What a great find! Karen and Jim were extremely hospitable and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Our room was very comfortable and well kept. Dinner in the evening was all local fayre and was well presented and delicious. The Struy Inn is located close to the glens and a river, these are easily accessible walking from the Struy. We wished we'd had longer to stay and will hopefully revisit in the future.

We stumbled across this place on our weekend trip to Loch Ness. It was lunch time and we fancied a pint, we pulled up and a gentleman came up to us in the car and advises they were only open evening weds to Sunday. He was very polite and had a bird of pray on his arm (random I know!) We decided that it looked really nice and friendly so decided to go back Sunday evening for dinner..... And boy are we glad we did!Karen and Jim have got it so right, we were really impressed by the menu and wine list. The specials were also really good which Karen explained the fish was caught that day. I had scallops for starter and while lobster for main and my partner had Scottish smoked salmon for starters and surf n turf for main which was filet steak with scallops and langoustines. We were blown away by the quality of the food and how well it was cooked...... But also how Karen and Jim do everything themselves no staff what so ever!!!We really were so pleased we found this place. We got talking to an American couple in another restaurant and recommend this place, I do hope they went and tried it outThanks Karen and Jim for a wonderful meal x

We stayed at Eagle Brae (a few minutes away), and dined twice at The Struy Inn. The friendly welcome from Karen and Jim was much appreciated and the food was brilliant. When we booked (by phone) Karen informed us that there was no kids menu but they would be happy to accommodate the children (11 and 7) from the adult menu. The kids shared a delicious steak and with chips and vegetables to share for all, it really was the perfect meal. It was so good we retuned for our last night in Scotland! We will almost certainly return to Eagle Brae, and The Struy Inn will be our first choice for eating out. Thanks Karen and Jim,....from The Sale Family.

We were advised to have dinner there, as apparently the gin tonic (with grapefruit) and the meat are to die for! What a blessing we picked this restaurant. It's tiny so good luck when you make a reservation! What a fantastic welcoming by the lady and the chef of the house! They welcome you if you were their guests in their house (and you are)!It felt so genuine . And YES, the gin&tonic was absolutely fantastic. We had langoustines and salmon as a starter and after that the Scottish meat! A feast for the mouth and stomach! It was absolutely delicious!!!!If I would be back in Scotland, this would be one of the place I absolutely would like to go back to! A must!

We were late coming down off the mountain near to Struy, after a superb walk. Knowing that last orders for food are commonly as early as 8pm in Highland Scotland we called in to the first restaurant that we came to - The Struy Inn. We were very lucky as we had no booking and Karen was able to fit us in on their last table! Yes, we were hungry after a day outdoors, but the food was absolutely delicious, and all freshly prepared using their local ingredients. All home-made fare, from the bread right through to the deserts. The venison was especially good, very tender and full of flavour, superbly cooked to retain the juices. Thank you for accommodating three tired and hungry walkers!!

This Inn is in a very pleasant and peaceful rural location. We had very tender confit of duck and delicious sea bass both with a great range of perfectly cooked and presented vegetables. We were greeted and served by the owners. The Inn has a great ambience with a small cosy dining area

Wonderful meal in a lovely restaurant. Really worth a visit if you are in this area but it's very popular and small so you need to book. The couple who run this are lovely and run a lovely, homely establishment. We loved. Our evening there. The food was lovely, well cooked and very delicious.

Whilst we had received several recommendations that we try the Struy Inn, we had not expected a Michelin standard restaurant in the middle of nowhere and so close to our lodgings at Eagle Brae (2 minute's drive away). Indeed, I had not anticipated that the restaurant might be fully booked - as it was - on our preferred Saturday in the middle of March. We received an incredibly warm welcome from the owners when we arrived for dinner and, after a pre-dinner drink from the extremely well stocked bar, were shown to our table in their delightful dining room.A good sized menu, and even better sized portions of delicious and thoughtfully presented food, did not disappoint and were accompanied by a usefully diverse wine list. This restaurant really was a complete surprise to us and we would strongly encourage anyone to consider booking a table there whether you are staying in the immediate vicinity or not.We certainly wish the new owners all the very best in their second year.

We have a delicious afternoon tea at The Snug today. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. Lots of thought is put into the afternoon tea with a great choices of sandwiches, yummy homemade sausage roll, scone and lots of delicious sweet treats. I would highly recommend this just make sure to book in advance because obviously this needs to be prepared. Excellent value for money. Great atmosphere too.

We didn’t have a booking but the restaurant fitted us in which we really appreciated. We were not disappointed the food was exceptional and so was the service. The menu is small, but perfect. We all ordered a different main course and none of us were disappointed. I have a starter again, beautiful and the rest of the party a dessert again fantastic. The complimentary soup was a nice touch too. It was the first evening of our stay and it could not have been any better. A really great restaurant. Thank you.

On our holiday in Glenelg we popped into this cafe, which is popular with both locals and visitors. We only had coffee, but the food on offer looked very tasty. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There is ample parking nearby. Overall a nice place for a snack. Highly recommend.

Popped in today and managed to get a table as they were very busy so enjoyed our usual wonderful lunch. Always cooked to perfection and the famous "Richard's chips" were fantastic. They are dog friendly too so our wee pooch Alvah had a great time being petted by other visitors.
