We came to Skoon a few times since it opened its doors and were back today (my other half, her father and I) while visiting family on Harris: we spoke to Emma and she was great to talk to. The place has not lost any of its charm, a real oasis for visitors and with delicious bakes/coffee. The artwork by John is splendid, and there is a good collection of sheet music (trad music for clarsach and fiddle, mainly) and CDs/Vinyls. I would be back in a heartbeat! Francesco

I passed signs for Skoon Gallery several times whilst on the way to other places but eventually curiosity got the better of me and I decided to take a look. The entrance is up a driveway and while there may have been a sign at the entrance I didn’t see it and actually took a chance it was the right entrance. Driving up to the house there is no indication of it being so but a couple of picnic tables outside showed it probably was. There was no other signage not even at the entrance and again it was a guess whether it was the door to the right or the gate to the front of the house. I tried door which seemed more logical and was correct. The gallery itself is actually a tearoom with the paintings hung around the room. The interior is beautiful and the paintings were stunning, very classy and if we hadn’t just had something to eat would have had a drink. The only thing I would say is please add some signs to the gallery so people aren’t unsure of the way in!

We stumbled on this art gallery / cafe whilst on a tour around Harris. A very warm welcome on arrival, followed by some really yummy sweet treats to accompany tea / coffee. The scones are baked each day, with a choice of fruit or plain.Everything was just right, and it was amazing to sit enjoying the food and admiring the art on sale displayed on the walls. A cosy and classy spot to stop.

One of the best afternoon teas I have had. The right ratio of bread based and cake based stuff, with a wee cup of soup too. Fillings included a red pepper and humus- not something I would choose but it was great, and a cheese and pickle - pineapple pickle. Scones sublime. Great wee spot, atmosphere warm and the art work incredible.

Not long back from a holiday on the Isle of Harris and delighted to have come across the Skoon gallery and coffee shop. Overlooking an inlet on the east of the island, this offers fantastic coffee and delicious cakes in a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The couple who run the place are friendly and welcoming and have put an immense amount of work into creating one of the more hospitable galleries/coffee shops we came across. The artwork is outstanding and captures the character and ever changing colours of the island. The gallery might also lay claim to being the most remote record shop in the country with a great selection of Scottish music - from Scots folk legends Ossian to modern day exponents such as Julie Fowlis and King Creosote. There is no shortage of galleries across the Isle of Harris but you'll be hard pushed to find one better than this!

I've been going to this gallery-cafe for the past 7 years after a recommendation from a friend. In the past they have served lunches, but in 2018 they stopped and now simply sell baking and hot drinks, please be aware of this if you plan to visit: it is simply a coffee house now rather than a cafe. That being said it doesn't downgrade the place at all. The coffee and tea are always excellent quality (I usually go for the Assam) and their scones are served as two small scones with jam, cream and butter, all served in small bowls to avoid the jam/cream first argument. The baking is freshly made on premises, but be warned that the scones are the only mainstay, the others rotate regularly. The place is always clean and has indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are both extremely friendly and they always remember my preferences despite only visiting about 4 times a year. The views are lovely looking over the bay at Geocrab and parking is ample. Whilst you're there take time to have a look around their small gallery, they also usually have one of their larger canvas paintings available as a raffle prize.I highly recommend this for an afternoon tea.

The Café at the gallery of Andrew John Craig is on the nice rough east side of Harris. There are no beaches on this side of the island, but scenic landscape unique to this place of the world. Just a few hundred meters off the main road is the signposted Café. A carpark is just beside the house (disabled parking in front of the house closer to the entrance). The tea, coffee, snacks (fresh made scones!) and soups I had there on two visits in 2017 and 18 very, very tasty. The setting of this cafe really is stunning - especially on a sunny day. The art is also lovely to look at inside, along with the fire. We were most impressed with the quality of the catering though - unlike some cafe's - I thought it providing good value for money, especially with how the delicious cakes and coffee were presented and served (ice cream with the brownie etc). Everything seemed to have been thought about in relation to how to do it well - including the sign outside 'dogs welcome at our outside tables' -so much nicer than 'dogs not welcome inside the cafe'. The cafe also has a card machine, despite its remote location, which is helpful.

We have been many times and it gets better and better. Love scones and muffins. Don't miss going there when you are in Harris. View from setting area in front of cafe. Beautiful day.

This was our second visit to Mollins, and if we are back on Lewis again we will return. We ordered a large haddock and chips, black pudding supper, and 2 macaroni with chips. My wife has coeliac so requires a safe place to eat gluten free, the staff have a great knowledge of the condition which means it’s pretty safe from cross contamination. The staff are also very friendly. My wife stated this was the best gluten free fish supper she had eaten, the other meals were also very tasty. The cost won’t break the bank either. I would advise you to book online in advance as we seen a few walk ins disappointed as the slots were full. We also go an extra 3 pieces of fish due to a mix up with another order.

Tucked away on the other side of the pier, this is a fantastic takeaway, the taster box was delicious and so fresh. Loved the scallops which were perfectly cooked. Thank you.

Inspired by the “EatDrinkHebrides” trail map, popped in to collect a picnic lunch during a Hebridean road trip. We had the most amazing toasties and hot chocolate. Handy for the ferry. Worth a detour!!

Stunning view and friendly, efficient staff in a small family-run hotel. The quality of food was excellent, but fully grown humans may wish to order two main courses each, such was the rather miserly amount of actual food - scallops and monkfish respective.y - on our plates. Top marks for presentation and taste, but would have loved a little more.
