The best restaurants in Eilean Siar Highlands and Islands

We came to Skoon a few times since it opened its doors and were back today (my other half, her father and I) while visiting family on Harris: we spoke to Emma and she was great to talk to. The place has not lost any of its charm, a real oasis for visitors and with delicious bakes/coffee. The artwork by John is splendid, and there is a good collection of sheet music (trad music for clarsach and fiddle, mainly) and CDs/Vinyls. I would be back in a heartbeat! Francesco

First day popped it at 3.50pm, ordered coffee and cake, told to take a seat, items duly brought to table. Then someone from behind the serving area literally shouted at a group of older ladies that they needed to leave as "we are closing in exactly 5 minutes". I caught the waiters eye and mentioned he had just served me, the same disembodied voice "we close at 4pm sharp". 2 days later at 2.10pm I dropped in for a sandwich, took a seat, looked the menu, went to order to be told "kitchen is closed" I mentioned that it states food served till 2.30pm, "served yes but it needs to be made first so we stop taking order around 2.15pm". Maybe the food is good but I have yet to try it. Staff need some lessons in customer care, speaking to some locals it appears they are well know for the lack of customer service.

What a special treat we experienced on our visit to Flavour this week. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and relaxed. Each & every course offered a wonderful taste of the produce available seasonally on our Island with the attention to detail that goes into the selection, preparation & the presentation of the dishes, quite amazing. We enjoyed hearing the story of our food from start to finish & the dedication put in by Chris, the Flavour team & also His family is evident. Absolutely Michelin star dedication. Very friendly personnel. Really good scones and coffee. The chocolate cake was fabulous. Perfect after a 6 km walk around the Butt of Lewis Ligthhouse.

Please please please open up again. I don't mind paying extra as the quantities and qualities of food are stupendous. 😋😘🤗

Went in today for lunch and had Hot dog & toastie with fries with tea. The staff are warm and friendly.... efficient and the food was spot on. Credit to the community. Wonderful gem of a place. Highly recommended. Beautiful museum and very informative.

We ordered pizzas online and they were ready perfectly on time. Easy website. Friendly staff. Delicious pizzas with options for all tastes. Thoroughly recommend a detour if you’re around Lewis

Tucked away on the other side of the pier, this is a fantastic takeaway, the taster box was delicious and so fresh. Loved the scallops which were perfectly cooked. Thank you.

This place is definitely worth a visit! The scallops were lovely and fresh and the honesty box is heart warming. There are two fridges. One for pre-orders and another stocked with a variety of scallops and oysters. Would recommend doing the nearby circular scenic drive to Kneep Beach. Such a stunning beach!

The tag line is the "Smallest chippy in Scotland", they work out of a fairly small shed with a number of small fryers. There's space for about 4-5 cars so I didn't have a problem parking. There's an easy to use online ordering system, I picked up the QR code at the nearby campsite I was staying at. You pick a 10 minute slot for your collection which is arranged online to stop them getting overloaded. I had large haddock, chips and mushy peas which were cooked to order. The haddock was perfectly battered and cooked, the chips were just right too. The mushy peas looked natural rather than full of green dye. All in all it was worthy of five star all round. Probably a couple of £ more than the average chippy, but well above average so good value. More than happy to recommend.

Our second visit to this little gem of a cafe and we were not disappointed. The breakfast once again was delicious, plentiful and great value for money.staff were pleasant and very friendly . We would not hesitate to return.

This was our second visit to Mollins, and if we are back on Lewis again we will return. We ordered a large haddock and chips, black pudding supper, and 2 macaroni with chips. My wife has coeliac so requires a safe place to eat gluten free, the staff have a great knowledge of the condition which means it’s pretty safe from cross contamination. The staff are also very friendly. My wife stated this was the best gluten free fish supper she had eaten, the other meals were also very tasty. The cost won’t break the bank either. I would advise you to book online in advance as we seen a few walk ins disappointed as the slots were full. We also go an extra 3 pieces of fish due to a mix up with another order.

What a brilliant place to enjoy refreshments! Absolutely stunning views! The food and drink is of top quality too. It’s open from April to end of September and defiantly worth a call when on North Uist
