Food van but no ordinary food van. A wonderfully fresh fish experience. On a freezing cold drive we stopped here for the box of seafood special and titbits for the kids. Outstanding quality, we really enjoyed it.

We have driven passed here numerous times from Scarista to Stornoway and back but it’s never been the right time or the weather to stop until today. Just wish we had made time before as it was great! We both had the squat lobster scampi, French fries and salad. All were beautifully prepared and cooked while we waited. When we returned out empty containers I said we would definitely be back.

The first time we stopped we missed it on the way to Callanish as it was so misty, luckily on the way back the mist had lifted. It is situated at the side of the road with a great view towards Loch Seaforth and Skye in the distance. It’s a husband and wife team. He catches the fish and she cooks it.

Stopped at taste n sea in north Harris this afternoon. Owner Irene and the lovely Catherine gave service with a smile. They are situated at the most marvellous view out to the open sea. Our freshly cooked goujons of haddock were superb as we're the crispy fried calamari, the crowning glory has to be the 4huge langoustines and home made red slaw. Everything was freshly cooked to order and as such was delicious. We also had skinny fries and cans of coke and it only came to ÂŁ27. Great value for money. They are open 6 days a week from 8am till 6pm, serving breakfast also. I would recommend it to anyone, restaurant quality food at much friendlier prices,. What a little gem!

We stopped at Taste n'Sea for a quick bite on the way to the ferry. However, quick it was not! Maybe it was just our timing as a small crowd was waiting for their food when we arrived. The good itself though was excellent to include the paninis, burgers, and the brownie.

Passed this the first time when my wife said she didn't want to risk seafood from a mobile food seller. I sulked, so after a quarter of a mile we turned round and came back. Unfortunately our experience wasn't good, unlike other reviewers. We ordered the fish and the squid rings and was given a buzzer. Unfortunately the buzzer never went off, so we seemed to wait for ages. Seemingly our food had been ready for a number of minutes but no one came to tell us. When we did get it the squid rings were like rubber and you couldn't bite through them and the fish was average. Very disappointed, based on the reviews that we read. Perhaps an off day for them!

The most wonderful roadside ‘streetfood’ you will ever eat. Cullen skink to die for, delicious salty chips, followed by hot tea on a rain-sodden day with the most gorgeous chocolate brownies (made by the owner’s husband, following her recipe) and the fluffiest victoria sponge. We were walking the Hebridean Way and it was pouring with rain, so the owner told us to sit in her car and eat. Which we did. Hebridean hospitality. Thank you.

What a surprise. We pulled into a lay-by and there was Taste n' Sea - a roadside van in a stunning location serving fresh takeaway food including lovely looking cakes. We bought the fish box which was made up of freshly battered and cooked haddock goujons, langoustine, prawns and calamari served with fries, mayonnaise and homemade coleslaw and ate it in our campervan with a perfect view. It was the best tasting seafood and the batter was crisp and light. Friendly staff too. Would definitely go back.

It's so much more than a roadside van. Seriously good fresh seafood - we ate there twice and would come back anytime. Try the fish box, you won't be disappointed. It can get quite busy, with lots of locals stopping for lunch - which is a good sign. Note that the location on the map is incorrent (as of May 2019). They're located in a car park on overlooking Loch Seaforth, on the main road, about a 15 min drive north of Tarbert, not near Leverburgh!

We all had a superb lunch - well deserved after our 3 hour, strenuous cycle up out of Tarbert and my fish box in particular, was fabulous. I couldn’t have the breaded lobster but was giving extra of other bits to make up. I believe the fish wraps were excellent too. Fantastic!

We were recommended to this roadside food truck by a local from the other end of the island. Everybody here knows about this great little van - sitting in a lay-by above Loch Seaforth just on the border between Lewis and Harris. We arrived just on 6pm when they were closing. But the owners were very happy to crank up the kitchen and serve us a meal. We had wonderful fresh calamari and local slipper lobster. Delicious. And so cheap. Add in the view of the loch and the birds of prey soaring above - a spectacular place for a snack. And very lovely people. They also have a holiday cottage to rent in the loch below. Haste ye back

As a rule very good, had a 3/4 hour wait and food not up to the usual standard. Not sure what caused delay as there were only half a dozen customers one of which couldn’t wait for their meal due to the delay. When the meal eventually arrived there was an empty paper pot in the box which presumably should have contained tartare sauce to go with the fish. On this occasion very, very disappointing .

These young people deserve to succeed. An idyllic spot. A silver caravan in a layby with a couple of cable drums for tables is the fact, but... these young folk are industrious and charming, with a comprehensive snack menu, served in minute or two while you sit outdoors taking in the spectacular view down Loch Seaforth. You could sit in your car if it's raining, but you won't get the atmosphere! The Meavaig trail is just down the road. No toilets.
