Uig Sands Restaurant in Eilean Siar

We ate at the Uig Sands twice. Once as a cafe for soup and once for an evening meal. We absolutely loved the experience and it wrapped up and end of a magical week On Harris and Lewis. The food was fairly simple and not fussed about with, but was high quality produce, cooked extremely well. Best Scallops Ive had anywhere and these chefs know how to season their food. Front of house was near impeccable. Attentive, relaxed and friendly. Sadly the fixed menu had finished as the restaurant was about to finish its season, but the choices were good and balanced.

A super destination. Truly wonderful. We had a table beside the window looking out across the bay. Perfect for celebrating my son’s birthday. Everything on the menu was excellent. Local produce and at least 3 choices for starter, main and dessert. Between us we tried most of the menu! Great atmosphere, relaxed yet efficient and friendly.

Dined in and enjoyed a beautiful view. The meal was well prepared, tender venison but otherwise not remarkable. We asked to sit at vacant window tables but were refused the option (don’t know why?). Felt a little uncomfortable with flat rate and no opportunity to decline a course. Otherwise good service. As menu arrangements stand, wouldn’t return.

As four visitors on holiday, our friends asked a local associate where they should celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary & were advised the ‘Uig Sands’. It was certainly an excellent recommendation which didn’t disappoint any of us. Welcoming, friendly service, a panoramic view of the coast & sands, & of course, excellent food. I think we loved every course we had between us & felt the whole experience was worth the money. Thank you!

Wir waren zu zweit für 5 Nächte auf den Hebriden und sind schon bei der Recherche auf dieses Restaurant gestoßen. Das Lokal hat keine Wünsche offen gelassen. Wir hatten Gott sei Dank schon mehr als zwei Wochen vor Anreise reserviert, denn die Tische sind für Hotelgäste garantiert. Nur was übrig bleibt wird an externe Besucher gegeben. Wir hatteb Glück und bekamen einen der begehrten Fensterplätze. Sicherlich auch, weil wir eine für deutsche Verhältnisse unübliche aber für Schottland durchaus nicht außergewöhnliche frühe Uhrzeit für das Abendessen gewählt hatten. Auch weil wir das schöne Licht so lang wie möglich genießen wollten. Schon beim Reinkommen ins Lokal raubt es einem den Atem bei diesem Ausblick auf die kilometerlangen weissen Sandstrände, Buchten, türkis blauem Wasser und sich schlängelnden Meandern an kleinen Bächen und Wasserstraßen zwischen satt grünen Moorlandschaften auf dem Weg zum Meer. Ein ergreifendes Schauspiel …. und das in einem sehr schönen Lokal, sauber, hell und freundlich und hervorragendem Essen. Es gibt feste Menüs und einen festen Preis. Nicht günstig aber die Qualität des Essens und die Location mit diesem atemberaubenden Blick haben ihren Preis. Wir hatten an diesem Tag großes Glück und haben einen der schönsten Sommertage erwischt und das Anfang September! Wir konnten es kaum fassen. Die Fenstertische werden nicht garantiert aber wenn man die frühest mögliche Uhrzeit wählt, hat man die besten Chancen. ☺️ First come, first serve.

From the greeting to when you depart everything is absolutely spot on. Food amazing and service discrete and timely. The staff work so well together.

Absolutely amazing. Our booking was checked on the day and all information confirmed. Our party had two allergies which were completely catered for, with exceptional service The setting is incredibly beautiful and the food is absolutely superb. One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Whatever you order, you won’t be disappointed. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The Uig sands a fantastic restaurant with wonderful views over Uig sands. The restaurant provides superb meals and the staff are always smiling and very friendly. For £85 you get a choice of 4 starters , mains and deserts along with bread and an aperitif. The food is absolutely stunning and is a real treat for foodies. Booking a table is recommended and you will not be disappointed.

Amazing food in the most beautiful setting…. My only negative was we had a family behind and the child just moaned and cried until they left… however wouldn’t stop me returning but maybe should consider earlier seating for families and slightly later for couples?

Came here on 21st June for my birthday, booked as a surprise by my wife. What an incredible place! Jaw dropping views from its hilltop location across the sands, super friendly staff, great service and amazing food. Saw 3 eagles from our window table during the meal and were then treated to a spectacular sunset. Honestly can't recommend this place highly enough and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Will undoubtedly be back.

This is more a dining experience than a place to eat. The food was outstanding at my time of life I thought I had enjoyed most things good. Apparently not, this was the best I've ever tasted. Don't hesitate to book a table here it is worth every penny!

Uig Sands Restaurant located.overlooking Carnish Bay sits in the perfect location. The service is very warm, welcoming and professional you feel at home as soon as you walk inside. The highlight of the location is of course the views which are special. The food is mostly local and the menu is a fixed price 5 course with options for starter, main and desserts. There is a great selection of drinks on offer and there were good non alcoholic offerings too. This is an increasing demand area and driver diners expect more choice today which Uig Sands covers. The whole food experience was delightful and literally faultless for us. The staff are chaty and knowledgeable about the food and about the local area, sharing tips for gems to visit around the bay.

We had reserved and were allowed to stop with our motorhome for 6.40 after drinking alcohol. The food was delicious and everyone was really friendly. We'd love to come back.

We had a very relaxed and enjoyable family evening meal after a Hebrides beach wedding in the morning. Food, service and location fantastic, we could even see and eagle soaring over the bay out of the restaurant window. Great use of local ingredients and a chef and kitchen brigade who can clearly cook. 5 stars from us.

Thanks for a lovely early evening dinner at Uig Sands. The food (we had smoked salmon, venison for me, scallops for her and brownies for dessert) was delicious and beautifully presented in a truly stunning venue. The views of the beach are unmatched. We had a slightly awkward welcome from one of the young waitresses, who seemed circumspect that we had arrived (perhaps they weren’t used to younger patrons?) but she warmed up after realising we had a reservation! The gentleman who served us for the rest of the evening was an absolute professional and very friendly. He was a particular credit to the business (apologies I didn’t catch his name but he mentioned he’s from the Midlands!). From my perspective all food courses were excellent, my compliments to the chef. Dessert was a highlight. Unfortunately their coffee machine was broken but they made a reasonable attempt at a cafetière batch in its place to complete the evening (no oat milk though, but that’s understandable). Overall an outstanding experience and hopefully we’ll be back.

The food, which is totally delicious, is matched by the team of people who were so friendly and attentive whilst we enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend the smoked salmon, scallops and the monk fish. The interior is relax and the view is obviously breathtaking. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening. Uig Sands restaurant is not only the best place to eat on the island it is one of the best restaurants in the world. The food is beautifully and thoughtfully prepared. Locally sourced from the isle. The menu is a set one with three courses, sourdough and dips, an amuse bousch. Service is friendly and you are guaranteed a warm welcome. But it is the view that is the killer, overlooking Uig bay watching the sunset there is nothing it can be compared to. Worth every penny.

I have been for dinner on many occasions with friends,family and alone. Each time have experienced a warm welcome,attentive service and totally wonderful food from a varied menu. Set in an idyllic location it is definitely the place to go for a top class meal and hospitality.

This was one of the best meals I've had in ages. Compact menu means that the chefs can concentrate on sending out exceptional dishes, while the addition of specials gave a choice wide enough for our group of 5. Portions were really well sized, not like some restaurants - I know you pay for the quality of the ingredients, but when you are paying you do want more than a mouthful. The wine list was also good value and small enough to ensure that there is something for everyone, without getting ridiculous. Staff were great and not too fussy - we were left to get on with enjoying the food and the sunset view.

We dined here last night as an early birthday meal for my husband. The location is stunning and despite the weather, it was still a great and interesting view from the table. The food was probably the best we have eaten all year, the smoked salmon starter was fantastic, the scallops main course on special was phenomenal and the lamb dish also great. Desserts felt a little underwhelming compared to the starters and mains, they were still very good but one complaint would be the popcorn served with the “donuts” was slightly burnt and the taste was then overpowering. Despite this I would still return even at the price of £75pp. I did feel the drinks prices were slightly off, £9.50 for a single gin and bottle of tonic water is very steep, I don’t think the prices should be so high when the meal is already on the pricey side.

We stayed in the nearby beautiful Uig Sands Rooms (a few minutes walk away) and dined here 2 nights on the trot! Wonderful, contemporary and relaxed with amazing views. The staff were extremely welcoming, courteous and attentive and amazing choice of dishes on the menu. Plenty of seafood to choose from (the turbot was outstanding), but also other equally delicious meat and vegetarian options available, together with a great Specials board. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Isle of Lewis.

A wonderful meal and the most incredible view from our window seat. The little crab canapés was an amazing explosion of tastes. I could have guzzled a few of them. The Hebridean chowder was fully loaded with mussels, lobster, scallops and my turbot main dish was mouthwatering. The accompanying beetroot was an inspired choice of veg. Fab. The one, important, things which stops me from giving this restaurant 5 stars are the really uncomfortable seats, which spoiled the whole experience and left me with a sore back. Our dining experience here was superb and the three courses were well worth the price. We chose a bottle of Chablis which perfectly complemented the dishes we ate. The scallop that was part of my starter was the best I've ever tasted and every course was perfection. The pineapple dessert with mini 'doughnuts' was unexpected and divine. Excellent food and wonderful warm, friendly and unpretentious service is one thing, but the sunset view over stunning Uig Sands combined to result in a truly unforgettable meal. 3 courses for us both and a decent bottle of wine came in at £200, which for a special meal whilst on holiday, we thought was well worth it. I want to thank all the staff that ensured we had the most special time at Uig Sands. I had just proposed to my fiance about an hour before arriving and they couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We hadn't planned on staying as we didn't realise they had accommodation but the manager organised a room for us very last minute. The food, accommodation and location are out of this world.
