This place is definitely worth a visit! The scallops were lovely and fresh and the honesty box is heart warming. There are two fridges. One for pre-orders and another stocked with a variety of scallops and oysters. Would recommend doing the nearby circular scenic drive to Kneep Beach. Such a stunning beach!

Wowsers never had scallops that tasted this good! We drove down to The Scallop Shack on our way out to visit the Calabria stones. We ordered scallops to collect later (they had been caught 45 minutes before we arrived). Open 24/7 with an honesty box what’s not to love!

Weird road out to the Scallop Shack and easy to miss the turn off, so keep your eyes peeled. The Scallops are not cheap but they are very memorable. I had them with a bun and salad. Basic chairs and tables outside a shed - so no points for fancy.

So, when I got there it was "closed"However, their idea of closed is somewhat different, the door was open, there were fresh oysters in the fridge and there was all the kit you need to open them and enjoy. There was an honesty box for payment, tabasco and lemon for the oysters and a fridge full of scallops to buy and take home. The trust and honesty of this place is beautiful, the shack and oysters is amazing and the surroundings are just divine. Thanks for restoring my faith!!!!!

this place is exactly what the name suggests, a shack selling scallops, and a few other bits. The are so fresh and amazing. We had a couple of rolls with butter, each with 3 large hand dived scallops, and mugs of coffee. Wasnt sure how that would go, but they were just fantastic, and on a windy wet day sitting under their awning looking out over the water where they had come from, will be something we will remember well.Good luck to you and every success hopefully.

If you want the best scallops you've ever had, this is the place. You do need to know, however, that it is exactly what it's name suggests. It's a shack on a pier that sells the tastiest, freshest scallops you'll ever have and you eat them out in the open. From shell to bun, with optional local black pudding and/or bacon side, in under ten minutes is what it's all about and all four of us thought they were the tastiest and best value scallops we'd ever had. You can also get them equally fresh to take away and cook yourself. Brilliant!

Just a perfect gem of a place - wanted scallops to cook and we found them at this wonderful wee place on the pier. Fresh and hand dived. Didn't have time to stay for lunch at the restaurant but you can just tell it would be amazing if we had - literally a Seafood shack but what a joy to find.. and they were delicious. Owner was great too - with helpful advice and interesting chat. A must go place if you love seafood or even if you don't, its worth a look.

We seen signs for this place whilst travelling the island and also reviews online and decided it was a must go to for us. We were not disappointed. The shack itself is at the harbour and you have the option of cooked scallops or your can take away fresh to make yourself. We decided to have a some to eat and went for the scallops and black pudding on a roll. I must say this will be the best roll I’ve ever had. The scallops are lovely, fresh and cooked perfectly. I would say the price is also reasonable considering you get 3 fresh scallops on the roll or with salad. There is also an option to buy and eat fresh oysters, which we should have done if not being too greedy with our rolls. Overall this is a must pitstop when exploring and the fact it’s only open 12-3pm makes it even more important to squeeze it in.

Well signposted on way to Uig Sands. Two parts an honesty shack with scallops and various seafood and a kitchen and outside eating area. Basic location but the food is to die for if you love seafood.

If it was all fresh then it's cool [ second time on Outer Hebrides ] .

The morning started well with a visit to Uig Scallop Shack, what a great wee place. Cafe opens 12-3pm in the summer but there is an honesty box 24/7 where you leave your money and take any change from 'the change chicken'! We had a lovely chat with the scallop shucker, he showed us the live scallops, lobster and crabs they have in their tank. Seemingly the lobster is bully and eats the other crustaceans. We were too early to eat the simple/local menu but we did come away with half a dozen fresh locally hand dived scallops and two shells. Great wee place on Bhaltos harbour, Isle of Lewis.

It's not a five star restaurant, it's better! The ambience is enhanced by the views of the fishing boats and loch from our table outside the shack. There's a pop up gazebo in case of inclement weather. Serving boxes and cutlery are bio-degradable. I could have eaten there every day, but there were too many other places to visit on the island. If I was a local, I'd have a standing reservation.

We were staying just around the corner in Riof so had scallops 2 nights running. The boat comes in about 4pm so if you head round after this the scallops are fresh. Best scallops I’ve had anywhere and when you factor the freshness and quality in, they are very good value. 6 large king scallops for £8.50 is a bargain if you’re used to Edinburgh fishmonger prices! As previous reviewers have mentioned it’s an honesty box system if no one is there.

If you like seafood, then this is somewhere to put on your itinerary. The scallops are from the local loch and come straight to the table (after cooking) here on the quayside so you couldn't get them any fresher. Mussels and oysters are available at certain times but if you don't like seafood then there are a number of other things on the menu. Its a long drive but the scenery is great.

The Scallop Shack was recommended to us by several people when we were staying nearby. It's a lovely, friendly place on the harbour where you eat 'al fresco' under their awning. The scallops were the freshest I've ever tasted and it's a simple offer served with bread and salad. We liked it so much we went back the next night and sampled some of their herring, which was just as good.. Although they serve soft drinks they don't have a licence but you can take your own wine along. A very relaxed and enjoyable place, as someone else has said, they have a great vibe.

We ate at the Uig Sands twice. Once as a cafe for soup and once for an evening meal. We absolutely loved the experience and it wrapped up and end of a magical week On Harris and Lewis. The food was fairly simple and not fussed about with, but was high quality produce, cooked extremely well. Best Scallops Ive had anywhere and these chefs know how to season their food. Front of house was near impeccable. Attentive, relaxed and friendly. Sadly the fixed menu had finished as the restaurant was about to finish its season, but the choices were good and balanced.

We came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!
