Delights in Eilean Siar

What a gem of a place! I stopped by for a take away coffee and cake and it was delicious! Also, lovely service. It is worth a visit:

I had a Turkish delight cake here that was absolutely heavenly. Nothing wrong with the coffee either. Beware that seating is very limited here, so it’s not like you are likely to get your own table. I must say at first I did mind having to squeeze in with strangers, but it did lead to an interesting conversation. You can take your coffee with you too, of course and have it outside or on the go. They have a nice shop as well with food stuff. Nice place and easy to find in the middle of the town centre.

The accommodation we stayed in had complimentary cakes when we arrived... and we hunted down where they were from and established it was this place. We bought cakes almost every day, one day I’m ashamed to admit I ate 5. The mint aero and Turkish delight were my favourites. Just incredible tasting. A must visit. The quirky little shop is great as well.

It doesn’t matter how often I visit I am never disappointed. This is a fantastic coffee shop with great cakes. The customer service is the best.

Great vanilla latte, kids loved their hot chocolates and the two baked goods we tried were delicious. Cute and clean shop, great prices, staff friendly and helpful. Would def return!

Wir tranken hier einen Kaffee und aßen Scones und die schmeckten sehr gut. Ansonsten gab es verschiedenes Gebäck.

We popped in to Delights for a browse round the shop, which is well stocked with unique gifts and deli foods to suit all pockets. The coffee and cakes are divine and the staff are so welcoming and friendly! Highly recommend!

If you are in Stornoway this is the place to go for the best tea/coffee you will find in the town. The home baking is beautiful with the only issue being what cake to have! Takeaway is also available if there are no tables available. Staff really know what good service really means. The shop has great selection of nice gifts and food products.

Wir waren hier kurz nach 9.30Uhr zum Frühstück, da andere Cafés noch geschlossen hatten. Es gibt verschiedene leckere Kaffees und Gebäck. Die Scones, die wir hatten, waren frisch und sehr gut. Regelmäßig kamen Ortsansässige vorbei, die hier ihren Morgenkaffee geordert haben. Zudem kann man in dem Laden noch viele Köstlichkeiten, auch als nettes Mitbringsel, kaufen.

Had a lovely cuppy stop with the family today. Cake was amazing and it’s the first time that someone had made me a mocha to die for. Staff were friendly and enjoyed a wee giggle. Can’t wait to visit again. Thanks

Excellent place to find unusual food items to purchase, lovely home baking and coffee options. They also sell lovely gift items and their hampers especially at Christmas are amazing!

Hier een taartje gegeten met witte chocolademelk. Nog nooit geproefd, was erg lekker. Wel echt voor een zoetekauw. Taartje was prima. Ze maken hier vast alles zelf. Wel prijzig. 3,95 voor een toastje met een klein plakje zalm. Lekker rondgeneusd in het winkeltje met leuke servies items.

Als Zeitvertreib (warten auf die Fähre in Stornoway), fiel uns dieser Laden ins Auge.

I bumped in when it was windy and raining outside. I got myself a cappuchino and a aero (mint/chocolate) bar. It all tasted delish. It is a giftshop aswell.

Our dry cappuccino, macchiato and carrot cake were all thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The coffee here is the best in Lewis, staff were very friendly and welcoming. The range of products in the deli was great and they have a range of gifts too, perfect place to pick up a birthday present.

We always visit Delights when In Stornoway, they have a great selection of gifts, a great menu and the best coffee to sit in or take away.

Fantastic shop, whether you want a coffee/tea with fresh home baking. You can also buy nice gifts ranging from Heyland and Whittle diffusers to lovely China crockery. There also a nice range of assorted deli foods available - definitely worth a visit.

This is a mixture of a small coffee shop, gift shop and deli. The café is only small with a couple of tables but they serve a lovely selection of tea, coffee, hot chcolate, cold drinks and cakes. The gift shop has a lovely range of gifts such as handmade ornaments, candles, pottery, glass etc and also has a fantastic range of foodstuffs. There are chutneys, sauces, spices, coffee, biscuits, chocolate, crisps, jams. The fresh items are often lovely findlaters pies and coleslaw and they also sell the hebridean smokehouse scallops and salar salmon. Well worth a visit!

We visited Delights upon recommendation of some local residents. We were looking for something to fill our craving for sweets mid-afternoon. Upon entering Delights we could tell right away that this was a good choice: so many local folks hanging out drinking coffee and queuing for baked goodies was a good sign! Definitely worth a visit.

The staff were friendly, and they served an excellent pot of tea (Tea Pigs), plus a choice of yummy cake. Its sited in a shop offering a range of deli and local (and touristy) items, some quite quirky.

Excellent coffee. Real coffee shops seem to be few and far between in Scotland. It is nice to see more and more popping up. Has a good selection of food and food-gift items.

This quite a busy little shop. The tiny coffee area is alway busy because of the good coffee and home made cakes. They have a light lunch but I only go there for the coffee and cake, also to buy interesting foods to take home. Great shop.

Bought a selection of items. All of them fantastic. The fig and black pepper chutney is wonderful. There serving dishes were beautiful.

What a wonderful coffee shop this is. Not only do you get great coffee and delicious baking but you also get a great welcome. The ladies who work here are so friendly and helpful that it is truly a delight to pop in. There is also an excellent range of goods for sale including speciality teas, coffees and other delicatessen items which you can have beautifully gift-wrapped. We have been in three times now and feel like old friends.

We had a read and a tea and enjoyed strolling through the shop and looking for gifts before taking the ferry back to the mainland.

Interesting shop and tiny coffee area. You need time to check out everything available as theres so much n this shop. Nicely set out and great for unusual and local gifts. Not a lot of space if its a busy period.

Being a bit of a caffeine junky this place is great for me. Staff are always smiley and friendly, if just a bit worried when I ask for 3 shot lattes. This place also has great gift ideas to peruse while they make the coffee!

Sells some really lovely food, some not available in local supermarkets. Also sells local delicacies. Small home furnishings is my favourite in this shop.

Defiantly recommend for anyone who enjoys a decent coffee. Also a great selection of fresh local produce to buy and some lovely china ware. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff also provide a beautiful gift wrapping service.

I visit this café very often and enjoy it every time, whether I'm sitting in or taking out there's always something I fancy! My favourite buy is the white hot chocolate, I can't find anywhere else on the Island that does this or does it as well. They are delicious and you can flavour them with any shot of your choice. There is always a wide range of baking and you can have a nice shop around while you're there. The only problem is the lack of room. I usually have to take the drink away with me because I feel bad that I'm taking up space or that people are waiting to sit down. It's a problem that would get worse if the café gets more popular but I'm sure they have plans on how to fix it.

Popped into this gorgeous shop after reading the reviews and decided to have coffee as well cappuccino was fab also enjoyed lemon drizzle cake as light as a feather they also had scones, Victoria sponge and a few other lovely cakes prices were very reasonable and staff lovely on holiday home to more or would have returned

We visit Stornoway every year and always make a point of visiting Delights, the coffee is the best around and is specially made for them, served in large cups by very attentive and friendly staff. This year after our daily cycle around the castle grounds we stopped here each morning and by the 2nd day the staff knew how we liked our drinks and happily chatted to us about our holiday and their own visits to Edinburgh. The cakes are all made locally and are absolutely delicious. The coffee area is within the deli shop and it has a varied and interesting stock of unusual sauces, biscuits treats and some local fresh produce. They also sell local crafts and speciality pieces. The only down side is that the coffee area only has two tables, seating for 8 people - maybe they could knock through to the shop next door and expand - I'm sure this would be very beneficial to the business and would ensure there was always a seat available. Having said that if you don't get a seat the first time, walk round the block, peruse the shop and a seat will become free if not take away is just as delicious. Would definitely recommend that you pop in and try.

This is such a warm and welcoming place. The coffee and cakes were wonderful but it is the staff that make it - they couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Within two visits we felt like we were friends and when we next return to the Outer Hebrides it will be one of the first places we visit. As a previous reviewer said - it is well named. Can't praise it highly enough.

My husband and I have been going to delights regularly since it opened. The coffee, herbal teas and most of all, home baking are fantastic. The selection of goods and gifts is wide, varied and difficult to find anywhere else in the town.most of all the staff and service are both second to none. Cheery, outgoing and helpful, the saying displayed behind the counter "Enter as strangers, leave as friends" says it all.I only wish Delights could open a branch locally in Glasgow !!!!! It would be crowded permanently. A definite MUST when on Lewis.

Wonderful shop - interesting produce and gifts but the coffee is a treat!! Undoubtedly the best in town. If you choose to sit in, the cakes are lovely as well.If you spend any time in Stornoway, you have to visit Delights!!

Attentive and very friendly folk behind the counter serving a terrific range of local produce (great to find Stornoway smoked cheese in their chiller along with sumptuous quiche slices to take away. All that and peat-smoked coffee too. Terrific deli/café you have to visit.

Great coffee and the best chocolate cake ever. My wife's birthday cake was prepared especially for her and the delight she felt upon eating this magnificent creation does the stores name justice. They are extremely friendly and helpful, perhaps I am used to the less than excellent service in New York City, but this place makes a trip across the ocean worth it. If you get a direct flight from NY to Glasgow connecting to Stornoway it takes about eight hours, but it will be well worth the time.

Superb little shop. They only have 2 tables to sit at but the take away coffee is just as good. When sitting in there is usually a good selection of home made cakes and biscuits on offer.Once you have had a delicious coffee or specialty tea, take some time to browse around the shelves, they have a wonderful selection of goods on sale both food stuffs, fancy glasses and china and its the only place in town where I can find Easyo sachets for my youghurt maker.

My husband and I go to Lewis several times a year and as soon as the ferry has docked we head straight for Delights. It's well named as this little coffee cum gift shop is a true paradise. Coffee is superb and the staff remember your order from your last visit. The home baking is amazing, I could just skip lunch and "eat cake".....there is an amazing selection of foodstuffs and gifts. (I can recommend the Stornoway smoked cheese).Staff are friendly, helpful and fun......it's just a great wee place ....there is a sign which says, "Arrive as strangers, leave as friends"..... Says it all ....

Nice but expensive gifts and foods. I bought a couple of things as gifts and they have been received well. Possibly too expensive to shop at regularly.

great selection of pates quiches and other treats, awesome scallops. lots of nice foods in jars, i would have liked a bigger variety of deli foods but i was really hungry when i went in.

Das Delights bietet, im Vergleich zu vielen anderen Cafés eine angenehme Atmosphäre in einem Ambiente, welches wirklich einem Café würdig ist. Selbstgemachte sehr leckere Backwaren können gekauft werden. Besonders angetan hatte es uns jedoch der absolut traumhafte Kaffee. Ohne tatsächlich alle Cafés in Stornoway zu kennen würden wir soweit gehen zu behaupten, dass es hier den Besten gibt.

The coffee was lovely (and the sweet things) but some of the stock available was pricey............ yes it did taste very good but is the price justified?

Excellent coffee, beautiful cakes and a shop full of beautiful treats, I wish this place was closer to my home (Glasgow!) . Stocks all sorts of tasty treats and great gift ideas-pottery and smelly stuff! Well worth a visit.

Delights is more of a shop/deli but they do have a couple of tables if you want to sit in for a bite.They will more or less fix you anything to eat that they sell in the shop.Very friendly and great coffee

and unquestionably delightful in fact. A very nice shop, full of things that are not cheap but all well chosen and worth it. If you can stay for one of their excellent coffees - and add in the Victoria Sponge if diet permits - you will be really pleased. All this, and lovely, warm friendly staff.

Quite the nicest shop in Stornoway..IF ( like me) you come in for coffe and very moreish cake be prepared to come out with a much lighter purse and top quality products.Smiling staff, top of range products.

I love going into Delights. It's one of my favourite shops in Stornoway. Staff are very friendly and the latte is the best in Stornoway. Great gifts at reasonable prices. Only two tables but I often go in on my own and always get chatting to someone. Great place.

This is a gift shop with a couple of tables for having coffee and cakes. The owner is a very friendly and welcoming woman, and the latte was absolutely perfect. I understand that they have their own blend of coffee made for them? You can tell. If it was open on Sundays I would've gone back before leaving Stornoway. Recommended!
