Scallops and cullen skink for starters, followed by cod with cabbage and potato. Lovely fresh local food, cooked and served by terrific, friendly staff. A very enjoyable meal on a cold winter night. Highly recommended.

We came here for a girls night out! I hadn’t seen my friend for nearly 12 months and I am so glad we went to harbour kitchen. The greeting was fabulous we were made to feel warm and relaxed as soon as we walked in so thank you Debbie for that. Debbie then briefed us about their Covid policy and guidelines which were clear and put me at ease with everything going on. The menu..... wow ! as a bit of a foodie the menu was amazing, choice was fantastic and to find out the food was freshly caught that morning was amazing as it’s hard to find places that do that anymore. Needless to say I think we all got to excited and pretty much ordered the menu hehe but it didn’t disappoint. The waitresses were so friendly and polite so a big thank you to Shannon, Debbie and Emma for being so lovely it really made the evening. So just a big thank you and I can’t wait to come back

We had visited the harbour kitchen for an evening meal. The place was clean and had hand sanitizer upon entry the waitress (debbie) sat us at our table and went through the covid restrictions which were very clear and informative. Our waitress Shannon was very helpful and tentive and kept within the restrictions set so you did feel comfortable and relaxed. In between courses Emma cleared the table and brought out drinks again keeping within the restrictions. The food was to die for. All the food was fresh (you can tell when food has been frozen and reheated) and made there and then. Every bite full was so tasty and delicious, chewing slowed me down, unfortunately I did take any pictures. There were plenty of seafood options which was great for me as I do love my seafood and even better when its caught that day. I definitely recommend this place when visiting Isle of lewis and harris

This was an absolutely stunning meal with fantastic staff and the best thought-through COVID-19 safety I saw anywhere in Scotland. It has only re-opened a few days ago when we were there but it was fantastic. My wife and I had a selection of seafood starters that were perfectly cooked but I absolutely have to mention the desserts which were Michelin star standard. (Having eaten in a couple in Edinburgh I can say that this is as good.)The deconstructed cheesecake was stunning and the Harris Gin and Tonic lemon tart was possibly the best dessert I've ever eaten.

Thankfully this place reopened just in time to coincide with our visit. We booked in advance and ate there twice. They're closed Sundays and Mondays otherwise we'd have done those too! I think the menu may have been limited due to covid-19 (not too sure) but plenty of choice and everything we had was excellent. No specific children's menu, but lots of nice small portion options. Service extremely good and they are really on the ball with healthy and safety precautions in the current climate. The interior and atmosphere great too.. Besides Cameron's fish and chips for takeaway which was really good.. and perhaps Artizan cafe for sandwiches and cake...you could easily give anything else a miss. Sadly Digby Chick wasn't open to try, but we heard it will be back just at a different location...

We had lunch here last year and everything was crossed that it would be open during eased lockdown - we were so happy when it reopened the night before our departure. It's just our kind of place and we feel that from the minute we walk in. Obviously there were lots of procedures to follow but it didn't spoil our enjoyment for one minute. The staff are great and the food even better. I struggled to decide but in the end opted for a duck and a scollop starter rather than a main, my partner went for the lamb. Delicious! In hindsight I should have gone for the scallop mains option as they were delicious and left me wanting more! The duck was beautiful too - but the star of the show was the lamb. It was succulent, soft and melted in your mouth. A -MA-ZING! Whatever you do, you must eat here!

With only two nights in Stornaway and a fair bit of driving in between, window shopping for restaurants was not high on our agenda. A step away from our accommodation and a wee peek in revealed a clean modern interior and lots of customers - always a good sign when the tables are busy. Good noise greeted us for what was a lunch visit and so did a smiling and welcoming staff. The food was presented promptly and delivered from an open plan kitchen - another good sign since both the food plates and work ethic of the staff were on public display. We thought the dishes (the ubiquitous fish&chips and mac&cheese) were well presented and good value. Though we hadn't booked (and it is worth booking), our experience like other reviewers was that staff bent over backwards to find us a table. We were accommodated without fuss or delay and since we were in a corner, continually asked if we were comfortable enough. In truth we were and most attentively catered for. Big dibs to the restaurant manager and her staff, who were flat out.Dinner was really good and the lamb shanks were cooked to that fall-off-the-bone state they should be as a result of long slow cooking. it was easy to clear my plate, with only a whistle clean bone left to contemplate. Yummy mash and gravy too!I wish the business every success, since it's menu was just of the right variety, and cooked with passion and quality ingredients . The staff clearly deserve every plaudit they get!

What a wonderful surprise. In Stornoway, no less! Of our three dinners in town, we chose Harbour Kitchen for the first two, and would have gone again for the third had it been open. Loved everything about it, really, from the innovative dishes, locally sourced fresh ingredients, execution and presentation from the kitchen, and friendly, attentive service. We were in Scotland for two weeks last year, but never ventured into a place that might be considered "fine dining". Harbour Kitchen changed our minds about that on this recent visit, and for any future ones. Were I to compare it restaurants in Portland, which is known for it's dining scene, I'd rate it as fine dining, but at a much more reasonable price.

The drinks arrived quickly, as did all the dishes we ordered, and this was very impressive. We ordered the steaks with mushrooms, chips and tomatoes, as well as the fish and chips. We were literally blown in the door on a rain swept Friday afternoon. Lovely menu and a chance to try the Orkney gin from their good selection. This washed down an extremely well made and presented mac and cheese with a side of chips. Soooo tasty do give them a try if you are passing

Searching for somewhere to eat, already turned away from one as hadn't pre-booked. Came in here and said we could sit at the bar for food. Great place to watch the chefs prepare our food. I had chicken fillet burger and bf had mussels - both delicious. The reason I gave excellent was particularly due to the warm welcome and friendliness of the staff - lovely polite young man who served us, and another young lady too . Well done.

(Souvent plein...)

I have visited this restaurant a couple of times now and can honestly say it's the best restaurant on the whole Island . I opted for the Harbour salad with the most delicious fresh salmon on my first visit , the service was excellent and you can watch the chefs prepare your meal . On my second visit I ordered an Italian margarita pizza , I was amazed as the pizza baker hand rolled it while I waited and then came and served me it and told me he uses an authentic Neopolitan recipe..... and it tasted amazing. Can't wait to go back for more of that pizza ! If you like seafood with an Italian twist this is the place to dine , the staff are all lovely and I highly recommend a visit to this fine restaurant .

Perhaps it was day 2 of the Heb-Celt festival and I’m desiring something healthy, delicious & in need of vegetables. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised; restaurant looked crowded but they sat me quickly and .... wait for it .... I had mackerel and a side of vegetables. The mackeral was delicious and the vegetable side was cabbage and asparagus, two vegetables I’d never put together. Really good _ lovely staff_ back next year for sure. PS don’t hesitate to eat at The Harbour Kitchn. ✨⚡️

Stornoway was busy because of the Heb Celt Festival, and we were directed to this restaurant by a helpful staff member at nearby Digby Chick. Harbour Kitchen was quite full, but we were offered a seat up at the bar, from where we could watch, through a beautiful, colourful array of gin bottles, the chefs hard at work in the small kitchen (an evening's entertainment in itself). We were expecting just a basic meal, but the food, presentation and service were splendid, and far exceeded our expectations. My salt cod fishcakes were accompanied by the perfect complement of a tomato remoulade, and my husband's treacle-glazed salmon steak was the best salmon he had ever had - it really tasted of the sea. It was one of those memorable meals, and a really lovely evening. Thank you so much to the staff, and keep up the brilliant work.

Had a lovely meal here, scallops to start and delicious langoustine and a pudding. With a glass of wine and a coffee it worked out at £40 each. It was disappointing that the scallop dish had just two small scallops. A previous review mentioned they got three which is what I would have expected for the price >£10. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was good. I would go back because the food was great... but it might not survive in a town where portion size and value for money matters so much.

Daar waren we erg blij mee. Vervolgens hebben we allebei een hoofdgerecht (met frites) en een dessert met koffie genomen. De kwaliteit van het eten (en de koffie) was erg goed. De salade als hoofdgerecht was wel een kleine portie. Maar overigens alle lof.

found this place on a day business trip to the island, after a long day and looking for a quick bite before the plane. I mentioned to the staff I had a plane to catch and they responded with quick and efficient service. I had the lamb shank which was very tasty, not too much of it but a nice helping. Rounded off with a glass of house wine it hit the right spot!

This was my second Festival to attend in Stornoway, and I happened on this great little restaurant, just across from Town Hall. Wow! I sat at the chef's table bar, and I was able to watch the guys in the kitchen work. They are a trip! Professional, friendly with each other, great food. Top notch kitchen. The wait staff are also very good. Everything I had there is wonderful.

Called in after work looking for a table for two, they said come back in half an hour but true to their word, came back and had a table and the food was first class with service of equal quality, nice atmosphere and would return. Harris gin and lemon tart was tasty

Reasonably priced quick dinner. Friendly service and a versatile menu (managed to cater to the needs of an exhausted 9 year old). Would be a 5 star rating but the disabled toilets were out of order.

The Harbour Kitchen is a nice, modern place in the centre of Stornoway, with a choice of both modern and traditional food - you can have a pizza Hawaii or a lamb shank, and they'll both be delicious. The prices are good, and so is the service; but it tends to get crowded in the evenings, especially on the weekends, so better be there early or book ahead!

This was my first time at this restaurant since it had changed from the Lido. I was there with some friends who were wanting to try something different. The menu was not extensive but provided an adequate range that there should have been something for most people's taste buds, the night we were there they also had three specials: garlic butter langoustines, monkfish and I can't remember the third option. I opted for the tomato and goats cheese to begin with. It arrived beautifully presented and with a balsamic dressing that was simply divine. However the goat's cheese appeared to be in hiding (or simply in short supply). For main I chose the monkfish, which arrived in breaded, bite sized pieces and with chunky chips and salad. This was very nice and fresh, but like the starter it lacked substance.I'm not sweet toothed, so pudding was not something that I was interested in. My two friends opted for the dessert soup and the tart. They both enjoyed them but both said they could do with more, again these were very well presented (see pictures). These were washed down with a Brewdog beer, one mate had white wine and the other a soft drink. We were all a bit shocked when the bill came to £140. All in all the food was very nice, but there simply wasn't enough of it and at that price I don't want to leave a restaurant feeling like I could have another course. Given that this is a restaurant on a small island and located in a shipping port town where fish and shellfish are available and at a relatively low cost then I feel that this will be it's downfall unless they address these issues. They are charging city prices with small portions. Another local restaurant, Digby Chick, started off like this but quickly realised that small portions weren't going down well and they thankfully changed their approach. 18 years later and they are still in business and busy. I think this place will certainly attract tourists, but that is a very short window on this island. Time will tell if they have the potential for longevity.

We managed to book for an early dinner before heading back to HebCelt. There were a few things not available on the menu but we all found something we fancied. The food and service was good. Our only comment would be that the helpings are a bit small for a hearty appetite. My husbands sweet potato chilli was particularly petite

My girlfriend and I had the kilo of mussels for 14 pounds, which was delicious and great value. At the end of our meal there was a lot of sauce left that I think is an awful shame to waste, so I asked for some bread to dip into it and finish up - clearly a compliment to the chefs. So I asked for some bread, got two white slices, which was fine... ate the rest and asked for the bill, which showed that it was 3 pounds for the two slices of extra bread!!! The audicity to even put that on the bill blows my mind. What an utter letdown at the end of a marvelous experience. To put that into perspective - half a kilo of mussels costs 7! And 2 slices of white bread cost almost half that?! I feel obliged to bring down the 5 star rating of this venue as that is not how you treat any customer. Will not return here again.

This place is definitely worth a visit! The scallops were lovely and fresh and the honesty box is heart warming. There are two fridges. One for pre-orders and another stocked with a variety of scallops and oysters. Would recommend doing the nearby circular scenic drive to Kneep Beach. Such a stunning beach!

A super destination. Truly wonderful. We had a table beside the window looking out across the bay. Perfect for celebrating my son’s birthday. Everything on the menu was excellent. Local produce and at least 3 choices for starter, main and dessert. Between us we tried most of the menu! Great atmosphere, relaxed yet efficient and friendly.

We came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!

All you want from a fish and chip shop. Very generous portion of fresh fish (cooked to order) and chips for a very reasonable price. Wish i had had the opportunity to try some of the other options. Efficient service. Great value!
