We dropped in for lunch on a drive from Tarbert to Ness, stopping at the usual tourist spots. This wonderful, beautiful spot was a world apart. The moment I stepped in I heard one of the staff give a cheerful “tìoraidh” (bye!) to some people who were leaving. The cafe was packed, but the hosts graciously assured us we would be taken care of. and we were sent off to the museum exhibits, which were well organized, lovely, and Gaelic-language centered. The shop too featured Gaelic-language merchandise. Lunch was amazing- that fluffy white bread!!! Amazing and reasonably priced. The wait staff were cheerful & efficient & kind, to the customers and with each other. All I can say is if I thought I was saying goodbye to Lewis on this trip, the Comunn Eachdraich Nis may be the welcome I needed to come back again. Tapadh Leibh, a h-uile duine.

We started with delicious toasties and coffee , followed by a visit to the museum. What a treat! Joan McLeod was on hand to tell me about the Adabrock Hoard recently retuned to the museum on loan from the museum in Edinburgh. Sadly back only for a year. There was so much to take in during our visit that at least one more visit will be necessary to do it justice.

We stopped here as I am interested in the history of the island. We could not sample the cafe as there was a private function (coach trip) but that was ok, we could walk round the museum. The museum is in two parts, the first is the day to day life of the island and is very interesting. The 2nd part is simply stunning in terms of the hoard and the discovery of for me this was simply amazing at the items found. It was made all the more interesting as the curator, a man I sadly forgot to ask his name, took the time to explain the origins of the hoard and sword. It was incredibly interesting and the timeline on the wall and depth of the peat theoretically on top of it, was staggering. Well done for a great museum.

An unplanned stop here was well worth it. Firstly because they have a great café and we fortified ourselves with an excellent scotch broth followed by cake. Second, some really interesting and well laid out historical installations plus artworks. Thirdly, a great little shop with local crafts and art plus books, both about the area and its history and also fiction set in the Outer Hebrides. Bought the Peter May trilogy here, set in the islands and haven’t been able to put it down! Highly Recommended

We stopped to visit the museum and also had a very nice lunch. The museum is small but very interesting and currently has a special exhibit of Viking treasures found in the area. The docent was very knowledgeable and interested in sharing. The cafe was large and able to accommodate us despite a bus load of folks arriving at the same time as we did. I enjoyed the lentil soup of the day and my husband enjoyed his toastie. We split a piece of chocolate sponge cake, yum!

If I said this place was good it would be an injustice.....it's actually brilliant. We visited twice on our Hebridean Adventure (my mother and I ) each time welcomed into the building by lovely, friendly, helpful staff who I believe are largely volunteers. The Museum is very interesting with lots of local artefacts ,there's a nice little gift shop with many items from the local area. Food is absolutely top-notch and great value for money and if you've still got room the cakes/tray-bakes are simply divine. Each and every time we're staying at Lionel, approx 2 miles down the road,we'll be re-visiting this place...honestly can't fault it. We're from Huddersfield ,West Yorkshire which we dearly love..but this is "another world". Thank you everybody for making our visit so enjoyable.

We were greeted by Agnes, who was very friendly and helpful, telling us all about the centre, and finding us a table in the cafeteria, despite it being full of a coach tour. We had very nice paninnis and then explored the museum with its genuinely interesting displays on local history, activities etc. We're really glad we stopped

As a family group of about a dozen of all ages we descended unannounced on a busy Monday lunchtime. We enjoyed a lovely selection of filled rolls (highly recommend the black pudding with egg) and homemade delicious cakes with tea and coffee. Ordering a second round of rolls because we enjoyed the first ones so much, we were advised that they would be a little delay as they had run out of eggs and had to send somebody next door to the croft to get some more. Fabulous food and not even 1 food mile for the eggs.Brilliant. Tea served in proper cups and saucers was lovely too. Portions generous while prices were very reasonable. All that while sitting in the museum's exhibition on the 1970s which made for really interesting conversations about "We used to have one of those. And now it's in a museum" and also a fascinating display of local history, culture all to the background lilt of the local gaelic speakers who also frequent this little gem. Make some time for visiting the exhibitions and reward yourself with some serious time in the cafe! The cafe is clean, spacious and the service is excellent with a good menu for lunch or a tea/coffee stop. This is my second review of the Comunn Eachraidh and its cafe and if anything, it has improved since my last visit. The homemade soups, oatcakes and cakes are still excellent as is the local black pudding or bacon (my husband's favourites) but with the addition of a new Italian coffee machine, there is now the option of lattes, flat whites etc etc. I have to say the latte is super, as good as any flashy "barista" makes in the fancy Glasgow coffee shops. The staff remain very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about their locality which is a bonus for the many visitors this part of Lewis receives. As a bonus it is lovely to hear Gaelic spoken all round you (even if like me , you don't understand it).Keep this great facility going.

This was our second visit to Mollins, and if we are back on Lewis again we will return. We ordered a large haddock and chips, black pudding supper, and 2 macaroni with chips. My wife has coeliac so requires a safe place to eat gluten free, the staff have a great knowledge of the condition which means it’s pretty safe from cross contamination. The staff are also very friendly. My wife stated this was the best gluten free fish supper she had eaten, the other meals were also very tasty. The cost won’t break the bank either. I would advise you to book online in advance as we seen a few walk ins disappointed as the slots were full. We also go an extra 3 pieces of fish due to a mix up with another order.

Tucked away on the other side of the pier, this is a fantastic takeaway, the taster box was delicious and so fresh. Loved the scallops which were perfectly cooked. Thank you.

Inspired by the “EatDrinkHebrides” trail map, popped in to collect a picnic lunch during a Hebridean road trip. We had the most amazing toasties and hot chocolate. Handy for the ferry. Worth a detour!!

Stunning view and friendly, efficient staff in a small family-run hotel. The quality of food was excellent, but fully grown humans may wish to order two main courses each, such was the rather miserly amount of actual food - scallops and monkfish respective.y - on our plates. Top marks for presentation and taste, but would have loved a little more.
