What a special treat we experienced on our visit to Flavour this week. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and relaxed. Each & every course offered a wonderful taste of the produce available seasonally on our Island with the attention to detail that goes into the selection, preparation & the presentation of the dishes, quite amazing. We enjoyed hearing the story of our food from start to finish & the dedication put in by Chris, the Flavour team & also His family is evident. Absolutely Michelin star dedication. We made a reservation at Flavour months before our holiday on the Isle of Harris. Use the friendly taxi driver to get there, it's worth it for the wine pairing. We can't think of enough superlatives for our visit to Flavour: an extraordinary evening in a cozy atmosphere (like visiting friends), perfect, beautifully presented food and a harmonious menu. It was a pure explosion of flavors. We particularly liked being able to watch Chris and his team prepare the food, the perfection and calmness at work was impressive. For my husband and I it was a perfect evening that we will never forget!

Wow! We would highly recommend visiting Flavour. The food was exceptional. We loved every single one of the courses and the taste combinations and attention to detail was sublime. We were a little surprised to be sat on a table for four with another couple but, they were great so it wasn’t an issue. The time just flew while we were there. We can honestly say it was up there as one of the best meals we have ever had! We would highly, highly recommend.

We seldom leave reviews on Trip Advisor but on this occasion we just had to. Our experience at Flavour was just simply gorgeous! It really does live up to its name! Chris and his team are meticulous in ensuring the best quality ingredients are sourced and use local produce, some is foraged which is incredible. The time taken to carefully craft every course, often using tweezers to place the delicate items such as flowers is a delight to watch. Chris is supported by the talented Alex who clearly enjoys working alongside. A visit to Flavour is an absolute treat and a must for anyone that gets the opportunity to savour this unique culinary experience.

This was an amazing experience. Loved sitting 'in the kitchen' with Chris & his team. Chris was so passionate about every course, explaining the menu, ingredients and where they were foraged from. It was great to ask questions - "where do you get your ideas from?" What/who is his inspiration for his menus? Loved that his daughter is involved in the foraging.. it was a delightful meal from start to finish... thank you!

This restaurant is slightly out of town of Tarbert, but well worth the journey if you enjoy an interactive dinner. We were sat on the same table as another couple and it made for interesting conversation. We learnt about all the different ingredients as we enjoyed the meal. I especially enjoyed all the sustainability elements of the meal as its important for restaurants to incorporate this into their menus. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. The chef adapted the menu to our requirements. The food itself was amazing and we loved it.

Delicieux repas … mais quand même quelques remarques: - l’endroit est trop étroit… placer 21 personnes dans un si petit endroit n’est pas vraiment top.. - le fait que nous soyons assis à une table de 4 personnes (donc avec un autre couple) même si c’est annoncé sur le site, n’est pas vraiment convivial… - dans le commentaire auprès du menu ke propriétaire mentionne que son but est d’obtenir une étoile Michelin… si ça dépend uniquement de la cuisine: ok ; parcontre le cadre manque quand même de charme.. - le concept de cuisine ouverte est super mais exige alors également une discipline en cuisine… le bruit des casseroles, de la vaisselle et entre cuisiniers était vraiment dérangeant…

We wanted to celebrate our Mother’s birthday in style so asked Chris to come to our Airbnb and cook a meal.The trouble is he didn’t. He created an absolute masterpiece!Working with his fantastic assistant Willie, Chris produced a 7 course feast of the most amazing food.I could try and describe it all but all the best thing I can do on this review is urge you to visit Chris’s restaurant, Flavour, when it opens after lockdown.His use of local ingredients as well as wild produce is sensational and I would defy anyone not to love what he creates.Thank you so much Chris and good luck to you and Nicola with your impending new arrival!

Chris cooked for 4 of us at a private cottage. 5 course menu, fresh local produce, beautifully assembled. On a holiday where we ate at some established fine dining restaurants (in particular on Skye), this was nonetheless a real highlight of the trip.Parfait and venison (pictured) were favourites but it was all great. Will be looking to book again when we're next up.

On our visits to Harris over the last two years we have been fortunate to be able to get a place at one of Flavour’s pop up dinners.This year due to COVID-19 these were not available.We therefore decided to take the opportunity to book Chris for a private dining. The whole experience was fantastic.Chris happily answered every question we had during the evening. He produced an amazing selection of food. Every course was beautiful. As is always the case we loved trying dishes and combinations of tastes.We have access to plenty of good restaurants where we live. None come anywhere close to what Chris produces for his diners.If visiting Isle of Harris this is a culinary experience you do not want to miss in our view.

We recently got married on the Isle of Harris and arranged for Chris to cook for us to end a perfect day. He did not disappoint, his food was wonderful. Canapés to die for, fresh line caught mackerel that was amazing, carrot soup, locally sourced Venison, so tasty ending with an Apple dessert and home made chocolates. Chris cleaned everything up before he left too. Such a nice guy and am happy to recommend Flavour

We booked Chris for our anniversary meal at our holiday cottage on 20th September. It was a fabulous experience. Chris was great and explained all the courses. They were all very flavoursome and we were impressed at how much of the ingredients had been caught (mackerel), grown (veg and herbs) and sourced locally (venison) by Chris himself. A likeable guy and it was a pleasure to have him cook for us. He even did the dishes and left the kitchen spotless! Highly recommended.

Booked Chris for our Wedding Anniversary meal at our cottage - what a delight!Taste, presentation and quality were truly outstanding.Started with a lovely couple of canapés - tian of crab crostini along with mushroom and thyme filo tart.Then beautiful scallops with beetroot purée, Tomato and Pepper soup, Lobster with leeks, mash and bisque, followed with a lovely Strawberry Mousse with fresh berries. Wow! What a meal. Booked tasting menu for four and Chris produced a memorable dinner Beautiful lamb and mushroom canapés followed by line caught mackerel (hooked by Chris that morning) with home grown salad leaves. Main course of local venison with beetroot, home grown vegetables and smoked potato soufflé was superb. Strawberry mousse and berries, home made Harris gin chocolates and a great cheese board. Could not be faulted. Chris and his sister were great company. You MUST book if you are going to this beautiful island.

Out in Harris for our honeymoon and this was a gift given to us for our wedding.It was such a lovely treat to have a professional chef come and cook us a fantastic meal in our own home.Not only was the food and presentation first rate but Chris was so friendly and made it a really special evening for us. Definitely will be treating ourselves again when the in-laws come up!!

We benefited from a really superb fine dining meal from the comfort of our own home. Having been to many of the top restaurants in Scotland (Andrew Fairlie, Martin Wishart), the quality of food that Chris presented was definitely of similar quality.It was really special to have the two chefs quietly preparing the food and then hearing exactly where each dish was sourced from e.g. venison from the local Amhuinnsuidhe estate and lobster from West Harris, etc.If you want a truly memorable dining experience, I thoroughly recommend Flavour. You will not be disappointed!

We visited the pop up in the community centre this time and we were hoping it would be as good as the pop up we had last July in Chris and Nicola’s home. We were not disappointed, the 6 course 8 wonders of the world menu was just beautiful. The delicate Crab Taco was incredible, I ate olives which were delicious and I normally pick them out of my food and the venison fillet was also delicious. Every course was special and morish. Chris is the type of Chef who creates magic with food to the point that everything has a place and is perfectly balanced and even things you are not normally keen on are elevated to another level. They are also happy to adapt any dishes for your dietary requirements, nothing is ever too much effort.This is an experience you should definitely have at least once but be warned you will want to go back for more! It is worth every penny and Chris and Nicola are so lovely and friendly they deserve to be very successful. We also went to their shop at Talla na Mara and bought a selection of gorgeous chocolates. My favourite was the Peanut butter but the Scalpay honey ones were fabulous as well. I wish them the best of luck with their plans for the future.

This was our second time dining with Flavour at one of their pop ups. The first time was fantastic so we arrived with great expectations.Chris did not disappoint and delivered a fantastic menu around the 8 wonders of the world. The variation of tastes was amazing. We also had a special added to the menu of Oysters that had just come from Barra the day before.Every course was beautifully cooked. Front of house was handled brilliantly by Nicola.What impresses us most about these dinners is that despite cooking for so many people, Chris still makes time to come out and chat with guests. All of the dishes were explained by Nicola when brought to the table.It’s difficult to put just how good it is into words.If you are looking for an amazing dining experience in Harris, cannot speak highly enough of Flavour.

Went to pop up restaurant during our visit to harris in august. Chris and Nicola do a fantastic job. Chris is a passionate and creative chef and Nicola is a great host. Pop up restaurant was in village hall and full credit to Chris for being able to make such good food which is fine dining. Chocolates are amazing now available from their shop. Hope one day they have their own restaurant so we can visit several times during our next trip!

Perfectly cooked food from the amuse bouche of tiny portions of crab on an oatcake and a salmon filo parcel to the plate of hand made chocolates with your coffee the food was superb. Stand out for all of us were the scallops and the chocolate bar, heaven, that man can cook.

We had the pleasure to attend a Flavour pop up in Leverburgh and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chris put together a menu celebrating Scotland's flavors with seafood in many variations and vegetables in delicious preparations new to me. I particularly appreciated both him and Nicola taking the time to chat and give some insight into the provenance of the food and their own story. Would definitely visit again!

Fully deserving of all the 5 star reviews. Chris cooked for us in our holiday accommodation and he produced the most wonderful meal making the whole process look effortless. His food is amazing; creative and delicious. Crab, lobster, cod, Arbroath smokies, chocolate even fuchsias and viola petals are included in his imaginative array of artistic creations. What an incredible dining experience we had at Flavour. Chris is a phenomenal chef and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening. Chris’s cooking marries up the very best of local Scottish produce, and this tome round with some Asian influence, to create course after course of mouth watering, inventive and delicious cuisine. The fish we enjoyed had been caught that very day - you can’t get more fresh than that! Nicola was the perfect host and we were made to feel super welcome in Chris & Nicola’s house with its wonderful views over the sea. Can’t wait to come back.

We attended Chris and Nichola's taster menu evening at their home on Thursday and had a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and the use of local ingredients with a Sri Lankan twist was a success. The beauty of attending this type of event is you don't know what you're going to get so maybe not for the fussy eater. Being able to watch Chris cook and ask questions added to the evening. The fact some of the ingredients arrive on the local bus had us laughing but shows the resourcefulnes of this young couple.

From start to finish it was flawless cooking showcasing Isle of Harris produce. What a treat it really was. We received our voucher for flavour as a wedding present and we had a great night. The lobster pakora gorgeous, the parsnip soup how Chris can you make that so tasty? The black pudding and qual egg wow, the Harris saddle of venison cooked to perfection great red cabbage. Had an amazing dinner earlier this evening chez Nicola and Chris. What enthusiasm. It was like having our own personal chef for the evening...very relaxed with lots of chat about their travels and ambitions. The food was excellent with each course like a work of art. Chris's menu showcases the best of what Harris has to offer from hand dived scallops ( harvested by him) to gorgeous home made chocolates. If in Harris maje sure to book. You won't be disappointed

We spent a week on Harris, and were lucky to have Chris cooking for the whole week. An absolutely outstanding chef, of the highest possible standard. From the home-made bread, ice-cream and chocolates to the signature dishes, everything was prepared with the utmost attention to detail. He sourced amazing local produce, and showcased the best of Harris. Brilliantly supported by Nicola. Can't recommend highly enough - this is my first restaurant review, but felt I should post as it was so good!

A lovely, relaxed evening at the pop-up restaurant. Cosy, pretty setting for a special family dinner. Delicious courses, local ingredients explained in detail and just enough in each course to fully enjoy but leave enough space for the next, and come away feeling perfectly satisfied! Finished off with delicious handmade chocolates that we have also bought as pressies and souvenirs, or received as gifts ourselves! Even a chocolate-covered strawberry bouquet! A great service for Harris from a lovely young couple.

My wife and I were lucky enough to sample the the culinary skills of this young chef on our first night on Lewis, and how happy were we that we did. Chris offers occasional pop up dinners on Lewis, and fortunately we were alerted to one he was hosting at a local guesthouse in Breasclete. The food was exceptional and reasonably priced, and worthy of a far more upmarket setting. Of course the local produce was front and centre of the meal selection, and one that Chris takes plenty of pride in sourcing. On our visit we needed to provide our own wine, so it pays to check this when booking. So get on social media and follow the exploits of this talented young chef, who I am sure is headed for some grander things.

For my birthday, Chris, the chef, came over with all his supplies and made a delicious meal in our holiday cottage with very fresh local and seasonal food. He also does pop up restaurants around the island as well as makes amazing handmade chocolates. We can’t wait to try dinner again with him at the pop up later this week. You must eat here if you are on Harris! Chris is an amazing chef who uses the best fresh ingredients available! The monkfish travelled by bus from Stornoway that day! This pop up restaurant was a delight, we didn’t know what to expect but the food was outstanding, atmosphere relaxed and if we could have seen the views for the mist they would have been stunning. Chris and Nicola were welcoming hosts and every course a taste sensation. From the quail egg and Stornoway black pudding scotch eggs, light goats cheese soufflé and the consommé! Wow! So fresh!! The chocolate fondant dessert with Isle of Harris tuille biscuit was amazing and to finish off Chris’s homemade chocolates. Without a doubt one of the best meals we have ever eaten. We visited tge pop up restaurant Flavour with my Mum for the 6 course tasting menu. My Mum is not a fan of fish or shellfish so she was worried that she wouldn't enjoy it but I mentioned when booking and Nicola said that was ok. Chris and Nicola run this pop up from their front room and they are a lovely friendly couple who along with Belle put us at ease and managed to cater for 12 from tgeir open plan kitchen without even the sound of 2 plates touching each other. Their calm manner and easy chatting between courses added to the ambience and there was a nice comfortable pace to the courses. You BYOB abd they happily provide wine glasses and keep your drinks in the fridge and serve you as a restaurant would.

We had dinner at the pop-up hosted by Chris and Nicola last night and the food was wonderful. Chris sources as much as he can locally and clearly pays a lot of attention to the preparation and presentation. We had soufflé with goats cheese and smoked haddock, butternut squash soup with smoked paprika , fresh cod and langoustine with quinoa and a curry sauce which was amazing, and a heather honey posset with fresh berries.

Totally unexpected find on Harris. Relaxed atmosphere with fine dining quality, locally sourced food, beautifully presented as a 5 course tasting menu. BYOB but ask to try some of Chris’s sloe gin, it’s a hit! Best meal I’ve had in a long time and food that would not be out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. We were treated to a 6 course dinner of outstanding quality in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with Chris, our chef, able and willing to chat to us despite how busy he was. He and Nicola provided a very special dining experience which we would recommend to anyone.

We were so lucky that our hiking guide arranged for us to have dinner at Chris and Nicola’s. The food was amazing, beautifully presented. We all really enjoyed our evening and once again so nice to chat with the chef Chris and his wife, Nicola. Definitely try to dine with them if your visiting this amazing isle.

I was part of the motorbike tour mentioned in an earlier review, There were 5 of our group dined that evening and as per the previous review, I think Epic pretty much sums up the experience. Chris and Nicola make an excellent team and delivered a first lass culinary experience. If you find yourself on the Isle of Harris you'd be mad to miss this off your must do list.

we were on a motorcycle tour of the Hebrides this weekend and managed to get into Nicola and Chris's pop up resteraunt. we were made feel most welcome by this lovely young couple and Nicolas service was excellent. The food was as good a standard as any Michelin starred place having visited plenty. a must do when on Harris if you are lucky enough to get in. all seasonal local fair perfectly prepared and cooked. the chef even hand dived the scallops earlier that day. one word EPIC!

Celebrated our 27th Wedding Anniversary on May 11th 2018 with a meal at Flavour. The meal was absolutely delightful and the service and atmosphere created by Chris and Nicola was so friendly and relaxed. Cannot recommend highly enough and we are sure to return sometime hopefully soon.

So glad we found this place (from Tripadvisor) and managed to get a table for one of the nights we were in Harris. Such an unusual experience, Chris and Nicola made us feel very much at home and Chris cooked a memorable meal. Black Pudding Bon Bon on a beetroot aeoli, beautifully cooked langoustine, a very tasty seafood bisque served over a finely cut concoction from a small glass individual teapot then, the highlight for me, a most delicious and tender cut of red deer venison. All topped off with a trio of delicately prepared desserts. A fantastic meal from a fantastic chef.

We had a bit of a problem finding it but what a superb dinner. Chris and Nicola work together very, very well but it is clear that Chris is the chef who produces the innovative dishes. We had the best meal we have had in Scotland. Just a delight to eat. I was very made up by the special dessert Chris made for me because of my health needs but even without that, it was all delicious. Thank you very much indeed and I hope you continue to make a great success of it !

Having recently visited the beautiful Isle of Harris we were going to miss the Flavour pop up so we asked them to come and cook in our holiday cottage. We’re so glad they could come and make a special night for us. The food was great and some wonderful locally sourced produce. We had the pleasure of dining at Flavour last Friday evening after it was mentioned to us by Doug and Kate at Hebrides Glass. What an absolutely amazing meal. The food was at the standard of any city restaurant. All the courses were absolutely wonderful and the venison was the best we have ever tasted. This pop up restaurant was an unexpected find after speaking to some locals. We did not know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and its presentation. Using exceptional local produce and bringing its flavours to life made it a memorable culinary experience for us when we visited the island again after 10 years. In order to be able to experience the cooking of a very talented young Scottish chef, you will need to keep an eye on the Facebook page in order to get the dates for the pop up. Chris and Nicola have a bright future in the growing food culture of Harris bringing the flavours of the amazing Scottish produce to life.

Chris and Nicola made our wedding day complete with food and ambience to die for. Having been married that day on Huisinis Beach we needed to find somewhere to have dinner not that easy at the best of times on Harris and even harder at the end of October. We hunted high and low and rang people and places in the lead up to our wedding. We even spoke with Chris who told us that unfortunately he had nothing booked for the time of our visit so when he rang us a week before leaving for Harris to say he had a place on the 30th with a taster menu we were overjoyed. I (the groom) am by no means an Epicurean preferring simple fayre such as bangers & mash and the like rather than what I used to refer to as "fancy and scanty" food. NOT ANY MORE. I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful of the food that night which got better and better with each course. Check out the website and if your on Harris and want your taste buds assaulted (in a good way) go there you won't be disappointed.

Was able to experience this dinner after watching others post and the owners post absolutely scrumptious pictures. Thought we were originally going to miss it but they added another date while we were there and were so happy!! The venison was melt in your mouth tender and the honey posset had us all liking our fingers trying to get every drop. If you're on Harris and they are having a dinner go!! Bring cash and your own alcohol.

Myself and young family took a spontaneous trip to Flavour and wow!! Chris and Nicola couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating for ourselves and our two young children. The food was outstanding; Chris is truly gifted. We enjoyed watching as the chef prepared and cooked our food right in front of us whilst our children played. We absolutely loved that we could have such a high end meal and still have the children catered for (we discovered that our 2 year old and 4 year old like scallops and venison!?) we would most definitely recommend this unique, fine dining experience to everyone. I'm full of praise for this pop-up restaurant. It is a pleasure to watch chef Chris putting the food on the plates. With love and passion, he conjures up a fantastic meal with local ingredients. Lamb in three different variations of Scarista, salmon from Uist, vegetables from the surrounding farmers, honey from Scalpay and mustard from Harris and more. Nicola is absolutely enchanting in service. I wish them the fulfilment of their dreams and for sure I will return.

I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of dining with friends at Flavour pop up restaurant in Harris. Quite simply the whole evening was "outstanding" and Chris and Nicola really know how to ensure you have a top class evening. Seldom, if ever, have I ever met such wonderful hosts that are so passionate about what they do and ensure that your dining experience is truly memorable. The food was just incredible and every course was carefully explained in terms of sourcing of ingredients through to cooking methods used. The surroundings were amazing - relaxing with views that will live with me forever.

Incredible tasting menu. Well worth contacting Chris and Nicola to see if the pop-up matches your dates and make the effort to get to one of their evenings. Easily as good as any Michelin restaurant I have eaten in and a far more relaxed and welcoming setting. My daughter (10) loved the evening and food as much as us. Thank you.

Having eaten some of the best seafood whilst travelling through the Hebrides, we were delighted to come across this wonderful pop up on the Isle of Harris. Chris and Nicola sourced local produce for our amazing fusion menu. Personally the quail scotch eggs with Stornoway Black pudding were fabulous, in saying that the courses just kept getting better. Our hosts attention to detail, friendly and inclusive manner and the delicious food - made it easily one of our highlights to Harris. Thank you for sharing your beautiful food and all the effort put into creating such a special memory - Melbourne misses you both.

When the chef at Flavour mentioned that he had caught the fish we were eating two days before, while diving, using his spear gun, I knew we were in food heaven! This was one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. Every dish carefully thought out, beautifully presented, and it was clear why it is called "flavour". The view of one of the world's most beautiful beaches, even through the rain, was an added bonus.

An excellent dining experience in every way. The six course fusion menu had combinations of flavours and textures to die for, with most of the ingredients locally sourced, caught and cooked by Chris and served by Nicola. Each course was accompanied by a relaxed and knowledgeable commentary about the provenance and cooking methods used. The dining room was beautifully presented and we felt included in the preparation in the adjoining kitchen. What also impressed me was the attention to detail like the wafer in the shape of our island

We ate at the Uig Sands twice. Once as a cafe for soup and once for an evening meal. We absolutely loved the experience and it wrapped up and end of a magical week On Harris and Lewis. The food was fairly simple and not fussed about with, but was high quality produce, cooked extremely well. Best Scallops Ive had anywhere and these chefs know how to season their food. Front of house was near impeccable. Attentive, relaxed and friendly. Sadly the fixed menu had finished as the restaurant was about to finish its season, but the choices were good and balanced.

We came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!

All you want from a fish and chip shop. Very generous portion of fresh fish (cooked to order) and chips for a very reasonable price. Wish i had had the opportunity to try some of the other options. Efficient service. Great value!
