Cafe Eighty 2 in Highland

Great place. Very busy but they found us a table for us out of the way as we have a dog and wanted him tucked away. I had what can only be described as the best, tastiest tomato 🍅 soup I have ever had in my life. It was amazing and sent my comments to the chef that day. Great menu variety and quite a special place .

Disappointed by what was rated (and still is rated) as the best place to eat in Drumnadrochit. However, from what I have read since visiting Cafe Eighty2, there has been a change in ownership, which does not seem to have been for the better. We wanted to have a simple breakfast, and while the choices looked good, they were limited, and relatively expensive in comparison to other locations we had been to in Scotland. I went for the "full" version, without certain items, but asked if the fried egg could be scrambled, but this was not possible. Not an issue, but then the fried egg came out completely congealed and was not warm, as was the rest of the food. We did comment on this after eating it all (yes, I was hungry), and the message would be passed onto the chef. However, we had the feeling that the food had likely been prepared for a while, and the person who looked like the chef was happily taking to other customers. There are better places in Drumnadrochit. Go there, not here (!)

Used to absolutely love this place. Have been 4 times since the new owners have taken over and I’m so sad to say, today will be the last. Last visit I came to eat here, I had the full meat breakfast which was average (it used to blow my socks off it was that good), there was only a around 2 mushrooms that were burnt to crisp, a tiny piece of sourdough bread not enough for a mouse and a very small portion of beans totalling £14. The meat in the breakfast is nice and clearly from a local butcher but £14 for this? Not worth it. I asked to substitute things in the breakfast which they refused (really cannot understand why this would be a problem?) Todays visit. I visited with friends, one friend disappointed by her full meat breakfast and the other had a burger which he enjoyed. The waitress serving us was pretty rude and uninviting. I ordered a ‘halloumi and pesto toastie served with a side of Bombay potato salad’. When it arrived, I was shocked - the toastie there was 2 small pieces of halloumi, a very small scrapping of pesto and two slices of tomato, it was the driest and most underwhelming toastie I have ever eaten. I ended up removing 2 slices of the bread as it was uneditable due to the dryness, the toastie was I believe £10 and for that price I expected perfection or at least for it to be enjoyable. The Bombay potato salad was 2 or 3 small pieces of potato. Where is the rest of meal? I would have complained but no one came over to our tables to check on us or to offer us anything else. After the last 2 visits being so disappointing, I will not be returning. I am so disappointed by this as I’ve been here probably over 30 times and I never had an issue when the last owners were there as they put their hearts and souls into the food. I used to recommend this place to everyone as the best cafe in the highlands, no more.

We stopped here while in Loch Ness for lunch and loved it! We ordered the chicken toastie and French toast and they were both really good! The toasties also came with the best potato salad we’ve ever had, it’s a must try! They also made us a really good smoothie and were very nice and efficient! Would need to return if we were ever in the area!

Visited today 07/08/24, the menu is very limited and geared towards healthy / vegetarian / vegan. The specials board should a double burger with chilli jam, ordered two only to be told the kitchen did not have any burgers? But still left it on the specials board!!!! Staff very friendly and accommodating.

These guys are not closed! They reopened a couple of months ago. Food: delicious! Flora tea: delucious and beautiful! The staff: super Nice! Location: right off the road. The decor: really cosy.

This modest building does its best to hide a quirky, comfortable and welcoming little cafe. The menu was varied. The service was exceptional. The food was first-rate. High quality ingredients that are cooked with love and attention to detail. Will definitely visit again if we're nearby.

This was a perfect little gem with amazing food, friendly staff and a quirky atmosphere. The choice of food was great enough for all to be happy and was freshly prepared, well worth the wait.

From the outside it doesn't look like much. You may be tempted to drive on to somewhere with a more scenic view. Don't be! This is one of our favourite stops, with great food and amazing teas. Service isn't always the fastest but it's such a lovely place, with such friendly staff, that I would never complain - we just feel glad we can spend a bit more time here! They have a few things for sale from local artists too. I always look forward to stopping here on our way north, it makes the journey worth it!

What an absolute gem of a place. We’ve been to this area a few times, but must have driven past the cafe (it’s just before you get into Drumnadrochit centre). Never again! The food was exceptional, such a unique variety of well thought through flavours. We had the halloumi toastie (with chilli jam and pickled ginger) and a smashed avocado on toast which came with raita and peach compote. Seriously good home made bread too. Big shout out to the owner and the other staff who we blethered away to for ages as they were great fun. Can’t believe we have missed this place all these years, we will definitely be back again to make up for it. Highly recommend.

Myself and my husband went for breakfast on Saturday 1st October. As you can see by my breakfast I am very very fussy. But it was beautiful and I loved the heart shaped toast. My husband had a full Scottish breakfast even though he didn't like the haggis and curried patties (personal choice) he said he had to try them. He reckons the sausages were really tasty and wanted to order more to take away. It's a really homely place and had a cosy fire in the corner. Thank you :)

Stopped here for lunch whilst doing the Great Glen Way. Lovely cosy atmosphere with the stove going and super friendly staff. Fantastic varied menu with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. My wife had the vegan breakfast which she said was the best she had ever had.

What a lovely find on our way through the highlands. Absolutely delicious breakfast, proper tea….. in pots, lovely China, cool vibe and friendly, helpful service. Dogs not allowed inside but plenty of seating outside and good sized car park. Best food we had in our whole trip, well done team @ Cafe eighty2.

Fantastic range of food, different to the rest of the eateries available. Quirky decor again different to others. Staff very friendly and attentive. Drove past the first day of visit but didn't the second time and will never do this again when in the area. Well done to all those involved in this delightful venture!

Following reccomendations we stopped here for lunch. We were super impressed by the food, staff and atmosphere. The menu had a wide variety of choice and the food was fresh and homemade. We will definitely visit again if we are back in the area and I highly recommend a visit.

We arrived as fresh, local flowers were being cut to put on the tables. As soon as we sat down we were given a bottle of water and a couple of glasses. It is a tad expensive but the food is worth it. Oh my, fresh bread! I must say, to the owner mainly, I loved your decor. Nothing matches! My type of taste. Bright, clean and airy, the tables are not packed together. Dogs are welcome but are asked to sit outside, with their owners.

We had a delicious lunch here at Cafe Eighty2. Both of us had Toasted sandwiches which were great. The lentil soup as very tasty as well. There are lots of vegetarian options and options for different teas. The staff was super helpful and friendly and we felt very comfortable there. It's a long walk from the town to the Cafe Eighty2, but they have an ample parking lot. It is definitely worth going a little out of the main town area to eat here.

First visit and will definitely return. A warm welcome by all staff and really lovely menu. Definitely worth the drive through from Inverness to get decent grub and reasonable prices too -highly recommended 😍

Stopped here before going on overnight hike, had the vegan breakfast was fantastic. The whole group enjoyed it so much, that after hike came back next morning and I had the nest breakfast and a smoothie. Everything I had during both visits was fantastic.

My daughter and I had breakfast at Cafe Eighty2. It was heavenly! The ladies who served us made us very welcome and looked after us well. Everything was being kept clean and well ordered and we felt safe during these scary times. Lots of interesting items and pictures to look at in the cafe while waiting for our slightly different and delicious breakfasts. We highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Just ok. Could do with a little more advertising as it’s outside Loch Ness and you don’t see it until you’ve passed the village green. Ok to call in if you need to.

My partner and I went here for breakfast on the morning of our wedding and it was such a great pick. So great in fact, that we went here for breakfast the day after our wedding too! Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free, or veggie, vegan, etc. depending on your dietary requirements. Also looks like there is a good mix of healthier/lighter options as well as richer dishes, but it's all great food. We had the cooked highland breakfast and I had one of the smashed avocado breakfasts one day and the maple syrup and bacon pancakes the next which were both delicious. Great fuel if you're heading off on a hike too. Super friendly staff, hand sanitiser on the door as you come in which is good too. Love the decor, and an all-round great vibe. Highly recommend and I know we'll be heading back here for breakfast next time we're in the area!

I ate here a few days ago and absolutely loved it! The cafe has a cute and quirky set up which makes it stand out to any other cafe. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options which is rare for a cafe/restaurant in the Inverness area so I was pleased about that. I had the vegan breakfast option and included homemade beans, avocado, veggie haggis/black pudding and sausages. Was about £10 but there is a lot on the plate. Would definitely come back!

AMAZING. We had been wild camping for two weeks in the highlands and fancied a nice breakfast on our last morning that wasn’t cooked on our portable gas hob! We were driving past Loch Ness and researched local cafes; this one caught our eye from the photos of other people’s amazing looking food. We stopped off early and the place was empty when we entered but got full very quickly! This place did not disappoint; we both said it was one of the best breakfasts we’ve ever eaten. We ordered the full highland brekkie and the French toast. Generous portion sizes, amazing flavours, excellent presentation, cannot fault it. If you want great quality good food (a lot of vegan options too) then this is the place to go. Personally, I LOVED the quirky interior and arty decor, inspiration for my own place!!! The staff were absolutely lovely which made it all the better as well, so friendly and chatty. If only we lived close so could visit more often. Overall 10/10. Thanks guys.

Travelling through Drumnadrochit returning from a day out. On the recommendation of a friend decided to visit this lovely café. Great place, excellent service from friendly staff. The sandwiches and cakes we had were perfect and obviously very fresh. Can't wait for this place to re-open, will definitely be back.

I went along yesterday for lunch with a pal. I had a delicious, vegan Thai curry that was served with hot naan bread a (dairy free) yogurt and then managed an apple scone with home made jam. The cafe is cheerily decorated and staff are pleasant and attentive but not over fussy. It was fairly busy with a mixture of tourists and locals. It's really nice to find decent, home cooked food; I'll be back for sure.

This was a cute little cafe with a delicious breakfast. We walked here from our AirBNB cottage nearby and had a relaxing breakfast before visiting Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.

Popped in for a bite to eat after visiting Drumnadrochit, slightly out of the town but well worth it. A warm and friendly welcome in to the quiet and tastefully decorated cafe, lots of lovely looking cakes on display and a small but interesting menu on offer. I opted for the highland breakfast and can honestly say that it was the tastiest cooked breakfast I think I have ever had. All freshly cooked and piping hot food, made for just the perfect size meal, outstanding.

Very friendly and nicely decorated, stopped for tea but cooked food looked delicious! Excellent service and seemed a destination for locals and passers through. Do not be put off by the outside which looks a bit grim from the road.

Delicious vegan full Highlands breakfast, best English/Highlands breakfast we’ve had in North England and Scotland so far. Perfect home made baked beans, avocado spread, black pudding, patty, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and potatoes. Best vegan scone we’ve ever had, and cakes are wonderful as well. Very cosy setting and very friendly staff.
