Room With a View

Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay, Fife, 20-30£
17/11/2018: My brother is a retired chef who won many prizes in food competitions during his career. There isn’t much he doesn’t know about food of the highest quality. When we got married his wedding present to my beloved and I was a voucher to have a meal at Room With a View. It was one of the best eating out experiences of my life. That was a few years ago and, given that our eating out usually now includes a small boy who thinks McDonalds is fine dining (where did I go wrong?), sadly, we haven’t been back. So, when said boy was invited to a friend’s birthday sleepover it was the ideal opportunity for my beloved and I to revisit Room With a View. It did not disappoint! Every morsel of the food is of the very highest quality and with flavours beyond compare. The service was friendly and well paced. The little treats of amuse-bouche at the start and palette cleanser jelly after the main course are lovely touches. Beloved had Cullen Skink and Sea Bass and I had crevette encrusted in nuts and Thai Curry Monkfish. All taste sensations! Of course, when we got home I had to let my brother know we’d been back to the restaurant, how good the food was and how much we’d enjoyed our meal. Boy, was he jealous! Room With a View is his favourite restaurant ever..... and I know why!
07/10/2018: Dinner with my wife (anniversary) and we were not disappointed

The Grange at St Andrews

St. Andrews, Fife, 30-45£
03/12/2018: Exquisite meal. Very, very reasonably priced for the superior quality food served in this treasure of a restaurant. Made to feel instantly at home. Staff are perfect too, very attentive (but not obtrusive) and capable. Finest dining in St. Andrews in my honest opinion!
23/11/2018: Back here again. Just love it. Brilliant food great service such cosy decor. Can not fault anything except it’s too far from home to visit each week

East Neuk and Land Ward, Fife
17/12/2018: Visited The Cellar with family for my wife’s birthday yesterday. Enjoyed pre lunch drinks by the wood burning stove before being taken through to the restaurant. Service was first class, the tasting menu was amazing, we even added the Scottish Cheese course as an extra. Highlight was the Ox Tongue with the 3 year old Parmesan and Truffle. This was our second visit in 4 months and the quality and attention to detail is phenomenal. Many thanks for making my wife’s birthday extra special.
16/12/2018: My partner and I went to The Cellar for a lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere of the place was very intimate and cozy. We were welcomed by the manager and the staff and received an outstanding service throughout the lunch, including a delightful wine pairing. The degustation menu was fantastic and met our requirements: tasting beautiful, locally sourced and seasonal. I felt the food was traditionally very Scottish, with a fantastic touch of modernity and refinement. I have to say, the quality/price of the Cellar is probably one of the best I've experienced in Scotland so far in this type of restaurant. Will definitely come back!

The Loft Country Kitchen & Restaurant

Highland, Perth & Kinross, <20£
18/11/2018: Truly amazing food. Our second visit here and we were delighted again..the roast dinner was delicious and the gravy complimented the beef beautifully. Service was amazing again
14/11/2018: We went to The Loft after reading the wonderful reviews and we were extremely impressed. We had a very warm welcome from both the chef and Adrian who spoke to us in Spanish throughout. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was a lovely end to our Scottish holiday. Thank you!!

Andrew Fairlie @ Gleneagles

Strathallan, Perth & Kinross
12/12/2018: I have dined in this restaurant twice before and I cannot find a better dining experience anywhere. The food is to die for and the staff and service cannot be beaten, I cannot think of any other words to describe the experience 10/10
06/12/2018: I have had the privilege of coming to the restaurant since it opened. The Andrew Fairlie is not just a restaurant it is a sensory experience. From the small stool on which to stand a handbag, to the hand made coffee cups with a wafer thin lip to hand made everything which tantilises in every way.

The Boathouse Cafe Bar

Kintyre and the Islands, Argyll & Bute, 20-30£
25/09/2018: This is a fabulous restaurant with friendly helpful staff and a lovely ambience which serves the freshest seafood in a beautifully presented manner. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough - a must visit place! It is seasonal so check opening times and popular so advisable to book it.

The North Port Restaurant

Perth City Centre, Perth & Kinross
18/12/2018: Had my mums 80th birthday diner their with 12 family members, two of which are vegan . The north port is the best restaurant in my opinion in Perth. The food is exceptional and the service is so good . They go out of ther way to make you feel welcome. The vegan menu is fab .thank you north port for making my mums 80th in August so very special x
16/12/2018: Old friends were visiting us from France last week. They enjoy good food and the pressure was on for us to return the highest hospitality they had shown us for over twenty years. We choose the North Port which previous vists had demostrated a high level of quality food and service. They did not let us down and excelled inthe choices on the menu and quality of delivery.

Collinsons Restaurant

The Ferry, Dundee City, 30-45£
08/12/2018: Collinsons is probably the most consistently reliable restaurant in Dundee.
04/12/2018: Informality is the byword at Collinsons but it has a lovely atmosphere and great food too. Well worth a visit.

Lion & Unicorn

Trossachs and Teith, Stirling
13/12/2018: Nice village location, this old hotel restaurant is a popular place to eat. The menu covers all the main needs, and the food is quite good, although when it is busy, there is a bit of a wait.
20/11/2018: We are Australian and were after a traditional Scottish pub dinner. We did not book and the place was very full, however the staff found a way to seat our party of 6. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was exactly what I had imagined. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Kingarroch Inn

Cupar, Fife, 20-30£
16/12/2018: A truly wonderful experience from a quick call to book a table to the moment we left the building. Four weather beaten walkers and a couple of damp doggies were warmly welcomed for a late lunch. Great 3 course menu with ample choice to suit all. Our lunch was completely faultless with special mention going to the chicken liver parfait and the fish chowder. And the desserts of which we tried three....just do it. The garden looked like it would be lovely in the summer. Our next visit will be soon, very soon.
10/11/2018: We went along tonight after a recommendation from a friend and reading the reviews on TA. Once we managed to negotiate the website and waited a few days on confirmation of our table (just a little irritating) we weren’t disappointed. Excellent food, relaxed atomosphere, reasonably priced. We will definitely visit again.

Cafe Jannetta

St. Andrews, Fife
12/12/2018: Went for lunch today with a friend and found both the service and food to be disappointing. The waitress was more interested in chatting to her fellow workers than serving customers which was very annoying. When we moved to another table which was less wobbly she asked if we would like it wiped down before we sat there?! Considering it was covered in the mess from the previous occupants I was surprised she felt the need to ask! The food was below average and very overpriced for what it was. Our ice cream sundae was the best part but also ridiculously overpriced. We will not be returning or recommending to friends.
10/12/2018: Really fun happy atmosphere. We were a large party but still served quickly. The staff were really friendly and jolly. Highly recommend!

Wee Blether Tea Room

Forth and Endrick, Stirling
13/12/2018: Signs outside day open 8 days a week! It is shut. Should at least change the signs.Appreciate things are quiet, could be on holiday, whatever! Change the signs, gives a better message to someone visiting.
23/11/2018: One of my friends had raved about this lovely tucked away tea room in Kinlochard and my friend and I were not disappointed. A great find on a damp, drizzly day after a 5 mile walk around a nearby forestry walk. Our welcome from the 2 staff could not have been warmer and we were soon settled with drinks, and cake - lovely frothy coffee and the cake was apparently divine!! Definitely a return visit will be required, hopefully before winter closure but now that I know where it is, I am sure that I will become a regular. Loved the chunky wooden furniture, beautiful views on the loch even on a misty day and the possibility of sitting out on the decking in better weather. Staff were just wonderful - warm and welcoming, enticing with the choices available and lovely to chat to. Thank you so much :-)

The Post Box Restaurant

Perth City Centre, Perth & Kinross, 20-30£
11/12/2018: Fab food and drink, good price and high quality!!! The hospitality second to none 😯 celebration of birthday
04/11/2018: Booked dinner for four and from the moment we arrived could not have been treated better. They managed the balance of looking after all our needs but not crowding us. As for the food it could not be faulted in anyway. Every course, simply delicious. I had the lamb and have to say this just might be the best lamb I have ever eaten.

The Cruin restaurant loch lomond

Helensburgh and Lomond South, Argyll & Bute, 20-30£
10/11/2018: Got married at the cruin on Thursday and couldn’t be happier with the service and venue! All the staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us! The day went so smoothly and was completely what we wanted. Would highly recommend for a wedding venue, also the meal and buffet where also amazing!! Fantastic place!
07/11/2018: Everything was amazing and they could not do enough. The whole family had an amazing time. Beautiful views and we have brilliant weather.

South Kintyre, Argyll & Bute, <20£
10/10/2018: This is a tearoom of absolute excellence. Home from home, traditional and sweets and cakes to die for. The various flavour meringues are a sight and taste to behold. The experience is enhanced by the wonderfully friendly and attentive staff. This is a must to make a special journey to enjoy this special experience. The meals are also exceptional.
26/09/2018: Nearly drove past as its the shop too, but we had lunch were stuffed but eyed up the cakes, meringues. We took the second beach for dog walk returned about hour later for cake. We were not disappointed this is a lovely local family run old fashioned business the type so hard to find. I had also found it hard to find Scottish gifts and fortunately a small amount if genuine Scottish made gifts were on sale. It was well worth the drive we also saw seals. Thank you this made our day.
