Visited this wonderful tea room having visited the area and read the reviews. Had a lovely cup of tea with the most amazing home made chocolate orange cake. There was a huge choice of cake available, I’m not sure how the lady remembered them all. We never looked at the lunch menu, but will next time we visit. All of the staff were really friendly. The lady did tell us that they don’t take cards but could take a bank transfer or cash. If visiting the area, a stop off is definitely recommended.

We had heard from a local near us that this tea room had good cakes so we called in on our way to the Southend beach. What a great little curious shop and tea room. The cake was good I had lemon drizzle and wifey had chocolate cream, both very good and worth the calories disappointed with the coffee as it was very strong even though we wanted milky! Great little shop if you’re in need of supplies though. So yes I would recommend for cake but maybe try the tea instead of the coffee! Very friendly staff and a little bit dog friendly too.

What a lovely experience! Mr and Mrs “Muneroy” were so lovely and welcoming, and so were the staff in the tearoom. After some lovely lentil soup (gluten free) we had cakes. Oh my goodness, I had the lightest gf Victoria sponge I’ve ever eaten, and those are very hard to make without gluten. The owner bakes so many delicious cakes and had to put up with my questions on how she made them so light! Also, there were so many of them, the serving staff deserve medals for remembering them all! This tearoom is a MUST if you’re in the area or not! Lovely couple and so so nice. Just a note for any future visitors - the tearoom is cash only but you can do a bank transfer if you don’t have cash on you.

We went here for coffee and cake but it was full. However the owner went out of her way to make sure we got some yummy cheesecake and even found us a seat in a different part of the shop. She then gave us free coffee and free cake for our journey home! The cakes are home-made and delicious. They are also a bargain for the enormous helping you get. Can't recommend this place enough but maybe check in advance if they are fully booked as it's extremely popular with the locals.

As other reviewers have already said, this is one place that you should not pass by. First of all as you enter the place, it has the appearance of a small village store. But wait, there is more. Turn to your right and enter the tea room itself, sit yourself down, and get ready for a massive foodie treat. (I have to say at this point, when my friends and I went, the lady taking orders was on her own, and very apologetic that things might take a little longer). But, everything was done in good time, the coffees and teas arrived first, followed by three huge portions of macaroni cheese, with chips of course. We even got an extra portion of chips as the lady wanted to make amends for the very slight delay. (In her own words, she was flying solo that day). Well, we stuffed down the main courses, and then we were told about the huge cake selection. (We had already seen the size of the meringues, being eaten by a nearby group of people, and decided that as they were the size of a football, we would plump for something less filling). Well, the slices of cake arrived, and these were the size of aircraft wheel chocks. Absolutely massive, but not only massive, but very tasty indeed. Again, when we came to pay, the lady was apologetic about the time it took to get our food, but to be honest, it wasn't long at all. Top marks to her for doing so well. If you are ever in the area, visiting the nearby St Columba's footprint, or nearby chapel grounds, you must, must MUST visit this place. The service we received from the lady who was rushed off her feet was impeccable. Will we be back, too right we will. By the way, make sure your tums are ready for a great feast when you go in. Oh, and when we went, it was CASH only, which was fine by me as I think that is still the best way. (And it wasn't me who paid the bill anyway).

If I could give Muneroy more than five stars, I would. If you're in Southend, don't pass this by. If you're not in Southend, get in the car and go there now. You'll marvel at the huge selection of cakes, then take a minute (or several) to decide on which one to order. No worries, however - they're all delicious!

Visited the Muneroy on a wet, miserable and windy day while up in Kintyre on holiday. Very welcoming, reserved a table for us as we brought our dog along. Quite old fashioned in their approach, and all the better for it! It's like sitting in your gran's parlour! Loved it! Cake and scone were very good indeed as were the coffee and hot chocolate. Nice place for a coffee break on a really miserable day.

A really excellent place to eat with a classic aesthetic and a cosy feeling throughout. Food is scrumptious and goes down quickly and of course the cakes are great. My one nitpick is the need to move to direct debit and card machines as they only do cash which can be annoying and tricky for those who don’t carry cash.

Return visit to Muneroy. Each time has been lovely. The first time we stumbled across the cafe whilst on a cycling tour and ordered a sandwich followed by a cake - we were suprised to learn of the choice of cakes on offer and delighted when our choices arrived, generous in proportion and full of flavour. In subsequent visits have enjoyed more cakes, exceptionally friendly & helpful service, purchased bits from the store' and chatted about Frances' wonderful Instagram posts Recommend combining a visit with a walk around Dunaverty Bay, visiting the Rock and perhaps walking along the coast to visit the Keil caves & St Columba's steps and then the beach beyond. You may well spot Seals and if you're lucky an Otter.

Another great visit to Muneroy. Another fantastic fulfilling feast. Another delicious delight of dazzling delicacies. - what draws me (and many, many more) back time and time again? Driving for miles and hours to Muneroy? Is it the warm welcome from Ian and Francis? Is it the unpretentious relaxed low key atmosphere? Is it the pleasure seen in every single other customer as they deliriously delight in the cake - which really needs to be “cake” with a capital CAKE? Is it the joy that oozes form the team who work there. The love that goes into every single cake? The massive portions? The amazing flavours? The chilling background music? The vibe? The glow? The buzz, warmth or comfort? NO, it’s not any single one of these: it is EVERY SINGLE ONE of these ingredients that make the MAGIC OF MUNEROY!

I’ve visted a few times, most recently with three friends over from New Zealand. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming and the decor is quirky and fits perfectly. We had a delicious lunch and, of course cake, you have to have cake. The portions are extremely generous and reasonably priced. As it deserves to be, it is extremely popular so booking is recommended which is easy by a quick phone call or email. A visit is an absolute must if you’re visiting the area.

This is a tearoom of absolute excellence. Home from home, traditional and sweets and cakes to die for. The various flavour meringues are a sight and taste to behold. The experience is enhanced by the wonderfully friendly and attentive staff. This is a must to make a special journey to enjoy this special experience. The meals are also exceptional.

Nearly drove past as its the shop too, but we had lunch were stuffed but eyed up the cakes, meringues. We took the second beach for dog walk returned about hour later for cake. We were not disappointed this is a lovely local family run old fashioned business the type so hard to find. I had also found it hard to find Scottish gifts and fortunately a small amount if genuine Scottish made gifts were on sale. It was well worth the drive we also saw seals. Thank you this made our day.

You may never see another tea room like this. It’s fantastically unique, superb in every way. We only had coffee and cake, but never have I had such a gorgeous cake and gluten free!

Six of us called in for lunch while we were on holiday nearby, as we had read some info at the cottage. Lovely restaurant/grocery shop combined. The place is filled with collections of teapots, jugs, and quirky vintage items, which is a delight to browse while waiting for the delicious meals! And the cakes were amazing too. Light as air and looked spectacular, we couldn't fault any of it. Four of us also enjoyed a hearty cooked breakfast. The owners and staff were a joy too! Don't miss this one if you are in the area. It's the jewel in Southends crown!

This cafe is very allergy friendly. Even though we arrived close to closing, as soon as we mentioned gluten free the chef came out to speak to us about our daughters allergies. She was very nice, very accommodating and very careful. I would recommend this cafe to anyone, but in particular to anyone who can find it difficult to eat out. The staff care, the portions are generous and the service is very good. Very clean toilets too

Had a lovely bowl of homemade soup with a sandwich filled with excellent local ham followed by a cheesecake the size of Kintyre and a mint and chocolate meringue the size of Arran - and it was only a half portion! Both were delicious. All the staff here are local and very welcoming. Go for a walk along beautiful Dunaverty beach and then come here afterwards - a perfect outing.

We booked a table in advance. Which was wise after travelling 150miles to get here.

Visited the tearoom on our final day of our trip, and boy was i glad we did. Decor old and brings such character to the tearoom, my wife liked the arrangement of teapots and got chatting to the young waitress about the place. Lunch was glorious, the curry was spot on and the wifes tuna salad was simple but tasty. Best to come....the huge homemade meringue was bigger than anything i had seen. Toffee sauce maybe not homemade but just lovely. Bit far to get to as out the way, but massively worth a visit. Staff and Owners were very delightful.

We finally got to have another meal at lovely Muneroy. Food delicious, as expected, great service from the waitresses and a lovely welcome from Frances, the creator of the amazing desserts. We managed a huge slice of chocolate mint cake after our main course, a light, deliciously creamy cake with just the right hint of mint. Would certainly recommend driving out to enjoy this hidden delight of a restaurant.

Marvelous honesty tea tent set up by local school students in a fantastic setting. This was the most unexpected treat on our cycle tour along Jura's coast
