We had breakfast here twice and the food and options were of good quality, especially for a buffet service. The Sunday was my birthday and my Partner with the help of Nichol put Happy birthday banners up to suitably embarrass me, added with the Happy birthday musical candle. All in all excellent customer service, especially Nichol going the extra mile to help and serve customers in the restaurant. Thank you.

Please be aware they operate a new parking monitor and send charges through the post for £50+ if they deem your stay as unauthorised. This well sign posted and appears to built in a way to trap innocent people stopping in the car park for a short time. Very upset that this large company has decided to go down this path to make a profit.

Restaurant/Food was excellent, but needed a little patience waiting to be served drinks. Hotel room = well past its prime = basically awful :( ... windows either painted shut or shash cord broken & needing a bottle to jam open the window, tap that rotated when you turned the handle, no sink plug, bed was crap, could hear kitchen delivery at 5:30/6am (?), could also hear the lift/elevator music in the restaurant as breakfast was being setup ... and the list continues!!!!!!

Don't visit The Elizabethan for food too often and usually it's a solid 6/7 out of 10, however this visit was a disaster. Whilst I take into account that they appeared to be short staffed, the main issue was that both the restaurant and the toilets were filthy. We sat a what could best be described a make-shift booth for 2 (table 105), which had sticky handprints up the wall on one side and a healthy layer of dust and grime on the other and many hand and finger prints up a perspex screen. This wasn't a one-off, the other 2 or 3 booths were exactly the same. We had a 45 minute wait for 2 main courses, which when they did arrive the order was partially incorrect and lukewarm. Our server did come to our table to apologise for the wait time and advised that this was due to how busy they were - there appeared to be around 10-12 other diners. We both had the hanging chicken kebab which was dry and lacking in any flavour. The "Lemon & Herb sauce" had the consistency and look of garlic butter and was the warmest thing on the plate. When the main courses arrived another drink was ordered, however the only place this appeared was on the bill. Whilst paying this was highlighted, as was the experience. The additional drink was removed from the bill, and 25% was taken off the bill as an apology. Not the usual experience when visiting The Elizabethan but certainly won't be rushing back.

Dropped in here for a toilet stop. Decided would have some food. It was 17.05 hrs, I asked for sandwiches but they stopped serving those at 17.00 hrs what a let down. I asked to see the current menu and looked over the choices. I managed to make a couple of choices namely scotch broth soup and macaroni cheese. After a bit of a wait they arrived together who knows why. I started off with my soup it had a bit of a home made flavour. Then I started on the macaroni cheese and finished off with my fresh orange and lemonade. If I ever return I would make sure I was early enough for sandwiches. I found the prices expensive and would not rush back. If you are on a budget I would not recommend.

Review of The Lido Chip Shop (Helensburgh) Pizza – A Shadow of Its Former Glory** For over **30 years**, The Lido Chip Shop’s pizza was legendary—a cut above the usual chip shop fare. Their original recipe had the **perfect balance** of a thick, doughy base, a rich, tangy red sauce, and **loads of deliciously melted cheese** that made it stand out. It was a local favourite for a reason—every bite was packed with flavour, and you could tell it was made with care. Sadly, **things have changed**. The new version uses different ingredients, and now it’s just… **average**. The cheese is no longer as generous, the sauce lacks its old depth, and the base doesn’t have that same satisfying chew. It’s not *bad*—it’s still an okay chip shop pizza—but compared to what it once was, it’s a **huge letdown**. If you never had the original, you might think it’s fine. But for those of us who remember how good it was, the new version just doesn’t compare. **Bring back the old recipe!** **Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) – Used to be 5/5, now just another bland chip shop pizza.** *Still hoping they’ll go back to the original way—nothing else in town came close!* --- **Anyone else miss the old Lido pizza?

What a find, deserves more than 3.5 score. Tuna melt on ciabatta roll was tasty as was my egg mayo roll. Really excellent cappuccino too, really milky and delicious. The cakes are something else, the Strawberry Danish is DIVINE and my partner assured me the fudge doughnut was spectacular. Worth dropping in if you are in the area, if you are pressed for time jump in and buy a cake, you will not regret it. I intend to make a point of visiting again when in that neck of the woods.
