Brewers Fayre Monkton Lodge in South Ayrshire

This is the last Brewers Fayre in Scotland i hadn't visited (now that they have closed the Glasgow ones) So i needed an excuse to tick it off. I was staying next door. The staff were very friendly , there weren't that many but they still seemed to be everywhere and on hand when needed. It wasn't that busy that evening but more did come in throughout the visit. The food service was quick and the meal was tasty. Just disappointed you have now got new kitchen doors which don't match the other ones with pentagon shaped windows! The area we sat in had clearly been freshened up recently with newpaint and carpets.

First visit in over 2 years and our first impression was how dirty and rundown the place has become.The table walls and windows looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The meal itself was pitiful. I had steak pie and skin on chips When it came it was a single pie which was so hard I couldn't get my knife through it accompanied by what looked like a handful of supermarket frozen chips all I all pretty unappetising.The few staff who were on were doing there best .The irony was there were only 3 other tables occupied when we were there.Sad that this once family favourite of mine appeared in such a sad state.

We are local to the area yet haven’t visited here for at least 20 years. We were pleasantly surprised with the food which was great value for the price paid. The staff were pleasant, albeit not enough of them for the size of the venue. Our only gripe was the lack of wine glasses. We ordered 3 wines but only one glass was available, two of the wines were served in substitute glasses - after our meal we ordered a bottle of wine and still no glasses were available! Brewers fayre please can you order a box of wine glasses, this is a basic requirement for your customers! A little bit of investment is required inside - only one of the tills was working which was causing some frustration for the staff and customers. However I think they made the best of a situation that was outwith their control. Would we return? 100% Well done to the staff working this evening.

Atmosphere relaxing and chill. Staff really friendly and amazing. Was served by Nicol, Jen, Jessica, Sarah, Jason and Callum. It’s our favourite brewers Fayre place to go. Food is lovely too

We visited Monkton Lodge Brewers Fayre on July 4th, 2024, with a coach trip of senior citizens en route to Millport. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heather, Kayley, and all the staff for their kind and attentive service. The use of the facilities in both directions was greatly appreciated, and the staff could not have been nicer. A special mention goes to the fabulous ice cream and trimmings served on the bus for those who did not get off to use the facilities. It was a delightful touch that everyone enjoyed. Great breakfast on Easter Sunday. Busy as expected but never a lack of buffet options hot or cold and the girls working were super friendly and gave the kids a chocolate which made their morning!

We booked a table for 20 for a family night out. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent ! The kids enjoyed the soft play and a good time was had by all. Special thanks to Ross, Emily, Evie & Jessica - I needed gluten free and they looked after me very well.

Booked for Mothers Day for 5 adults and a baby, absolute disaster. Arrived to a table with absolutely filthy chairs and a high chair that hadn't been cleaned and still had food sitting on it (pics attached) Main meals took an hour to arrive and that was only 3 of them. Another meal arrived 10 mins later and the final one another 10 mins after that - 1 of us had already finished eating. The final meal was supposedly delayed as the waitress claimed she told the chef to bin it and claimed she was "shouting at him for the last 5 mins" - hardly very professional. Unfortunately we had already ordered and paid for desserts as they were part of the 2 course mothers day menu and had to be ordered at the same time, or we wouldn't have bothered. A waitress asked if we had ordered desserts and asked another waitress to chase it up. 30 mins later, a different waitress came and asked what we had ordered and so again had to wait. Bad service, long waiting times for food and overall a pretty disgusting place. Some tables were sat dirty still to be cleared the whole time we were in the restaurant and as for the toilets - sticky carpet! Vile!

We love visiting the play area at Monkton Lodge!! I normally visit with my two daughters, it’s great to let them have a run around and burn off some energy after school. The food is always great, and I love the fact we can eat inside the soft play. The staff are always very polite and helpful, but a special shout out to Emily she is always so lovely to us and my children love her, we left the other night with both my daughters not wanting to leave. Emily is so chatty and loves playing with my daughters, she even put sprinkles on my kids brownie just to make them smile, a true asset to the team. We will be back soon as I’ve promised the girls they can come back to see their new “bestie” as they put it. Thank you so much to all the staff at the monkton lodge every single one of you are brilliant.

This used to be a family favourite due to the average food but great play area. Unfortunately our last few visits have been awful. Missing food items, dishes served to members of our table once everyone else had finished, plates left to pile up rather than be cleared. The play area is unsupervised the vast majority of the time and when you use the toilets next to it, and see the condition of them, you will never return. Save your money and take your kids to a soft play where the equipment is well maintained and supervised and the food is infinitely better. Don't bother raising your issues to management either as they make it clear they aren't interested.

Breakfast was great. Buffet really hot and constantly being refilled. Lots of choice on the continental too. Went for mother’s day breakfast and was busy as expected but didn’t feel manic only complaint would be the toasters. Team were really nice and helpful

Was taken for Mother's Day dinner. I ordered off the Mother's Day set menu whilst everyone else at the table had the carvery. Even though we asked staff twice when my order would be coming out, it never did. After 1hr and a half, I still had no food and everyone else at the table was finished eating so we left. I had no Mother's Day dinner as what was ordered never appeared. Very disappointed.

Staff friendly but under alot of pressure due to lack of them. !!! Very small portions and quality of food not good Chicken fajita burger came with beef chilli dip but I requested chips instead but at an additional cost.!!! Dip was awful... and Chicken tasteless. Ordered caramelised apple pie and ice cream for dessert... Very small portion of a soggy pie with some brown stuff on it and the smallest scoup of ice cream ... Will not be back the bill was £54 for 2 people ..

Avoid at all costs. Had a terrible visit at christmas with food not arriving and staff not seeming to care. Decided to try again only to have the same issue. Kids starter was forgotten and had to ask for it and it came with mains. My main was missed and came when everyone had finished eating then the kids brownie which was ordered at 2pm had to be chased up at 4pm as it still hadn't arrived then 10 mins later we were told there was no brownie left. When we complained we were met with the trainee manager laughing in our faces and being completely rude. The visit was made worse when I was queuing to ask how long my main would be. I was in a line of 4 people waiting whilst the trainee manager stood at the breakfast pass eating pizza in full view of paying customers trying to get food. I'm a regular visitor of brewers fayre restaurants but will never return to Monkton Lodge

What used to be a reliable cheap and cheerful restaurant is now a not so cheap and not so cheerful restaurant. Staff are rude and unhelpful and seem to have had no customer service training whatsoever. Eating here you don't expect fine dining but I do think customer service is a basic expectation and unfortunately on this visit it fell way below anything I have experienced before. Only got 1 star as there is no option for none.

Food here is divine for a chain restaurant,very tasty and freshly cooked,portions reasonably sized,though service can be slow at times(only criticism).Staff friendly,good selection of alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks,everything reasonably priced,ended up eating here all 3 nights we stayed next door in Premier Inn, though we had planned to eat elsewhere in area during our stay,think that says enough about the place. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly,plenty of room,in fact its huge.even contains a large childrens soft play and climbing area. Had seen mixed reviews of the place,but was perfectly acceptable to us and never encountered any problems or issues.

Visit here on the daily, and nothing for the staff is ever a bother. Always happy to go above and beyond for you. Friendly and super welcoming Staff!

Great place for kids… they enjoyed playing in the soft play. Plenty of snack options for the kids…not too much of crowded .

We hired the soft play on Saturday evening, for a family party. Was so lovely having the soft play to our selfs, Emily the young girl in the soft play was great, she helped us move tables and decorate the place, nothing was too much....

Let’s start with the positive. The young man at the bar taking orders was incredibly pleasant. Unfortunately it went swiftly downhill from there. Toilets - disgusting. Two fully blocked. One with a broken seat. None of them flushing. Service within the soft play area. Awful. Not only did the young girl say she didn’t actually like kids, but her attitude towards the three families was terrible. Five children’s dinners ordered - and three came ten minutes before the remaining two. And the tables hadn't been wiped down for goodness knows how long. The staff clearly have no interest in customers as they hang around in groups and ignore customers when they are clearly waiting for cutlery, drinks, to name but a few of the issues. Suffice to say we will not be returning to the Monkton Lodge.

Went her tonight 17/11/23 for food after a long drive home from England, we ordered off the Christmas menu we both had pati came on a plate with a slice of toast pati in a plastic tub and a blob of chutney on the plate...

Great visit as usual...warmly welcomed by Gillian and meals prepared as per our requests...nothing too much trouble. Relaxed and comfortable surroundings...perfect Sunday afternoon!

We come here almost every week, and we have got to know stacey and sarah(the chef) haven't met her personally but she is the best chef that we have had food from, we ask now everytime we are in if Sarah is in as we want her to make our food 🥰 Stacey is a credit to your restaurant and very chatty and polite to us on every visit. 21 very happy people after a mouth-watering experience at Monkton Lodge. All the starters, as ordered, were served up on time. Slight error on the mains but happily resolved within minutes. All staff were attentive and performed their duties brilliantly. So good we've even been back for breakfasts!

Visited on 1st October as a family of 5. Been here several times before but can’t say I’ll be back. Food was ok but not up to the usual standards. We then waited for over 50 minutes after the main course was finished til dessert arrived. All the time, diners were arriving and getting through their courses whilst we waited. I tipped whilst paying for the food when ordering. If I’d been paying afterwards, the tip would’ve stayed in my wallet.

This is a fantastic spot!! We are currently on holiday in Scotland. We came for an evening meal as a huge group of 21, the food was great hot fresh, all came out at the same time. All the staff were polite, and a special mention to Kayleigh she was amazing went above and beyond to accommodate us all. It was that good that we returned the next morning for breakfast, which was equally as super as the the previous night. Lots of choice, everything was full no waiting around for things to be replenished, always food out, and last but not least it's incredible value for money. Honestly can't recommend it enough. Some of the similar restaurants where we live in Yorkshire could learn a few lessons from this place. Get yourselves down there!!

Honestly, I don't normally review however after visiting this place I needed too.. Kayleigh the manager was absolutely fantastic from reserving our table to the most excellent service. The food quality was beautiful 10/10. Hot and all fresh. The staff just all wanted to help and make sure we were all ok and everything was perfect. Which it was. I Felt comfortable with my children (4 boys) and didn't feel like that I had to keep them quiet at the table.. There is an amazing play area which was extremely clean and tidy, also very fun. The children has an absolutely wonderful time.. Our first holiday to Scotland and this restaurant has made it wonderful.. Thanks to Kayleigh and her fantastic staff.. We will be back..

I had my daughters 2nd Birthday Party at the Brewers Fayre Soft Play Monkton Lodge and I would like to thank the amazing gentleman Nichol who was in charge of the organising. Arrived at Minkton Lodge and had not booked a table. Jill was great and got us a table without any problems. Ordered steaks which were delicious. Staff were very friendly and the service was great. Will definitely be back.

Kids loved the soft play and with juice refills and 2 meals for roughly a tenner it was a good way to get them out without breaking the bank

Fantastic experience. Arianna and Atlanta were great Santa's helpers. Kids were well fed and had plenty of time in soft play. Santa was lovely with the children and they got a colouring book.. Would definitely recommend.
