Always had great fish & chips from here.

Average Fish and Chips, batter was soggy fish luke warm. Claims to have 10% discount for cash ordered 2 fish suppers and a gravy AND because of gravy told that 10% discount didn't apply !!!!! IF YOU'RE OFFERING DISCOUNTS THEN HONOUR them!!!! UDPATE to owners reply - How can an on line order be CASH??????? Check your website the only option for 10% discount is the only entry that doesn't have a link to ordering! My wife is not a liar, clearly jigerry pokery going on here and we're not the ones being dishonest in an attempt to clear our name!!!!! Strange how you only take umbridge at the issue around the 10% discount and not that your Fish and Chips are average and soggy.

Had to wait over 30mins for food but it was fairly quiet. It is extremely overpriced for a full pizza crunch £11.00??

I believe this is the place I visited in November 1986 when my US SUB docked at “Holy Loch” which I understand to be Faslane . The most delicious Fish N Chips, with salt n malt(vinegar) wrapped in newsprint,,,,,!!!! Ffwd to Feb 1993, I attempted to recreate the fish chips experienced…… my lovey was recovering from knee surgery and I was helping with house and childcare, long story short, the kitchen was literally in flames before the haddock made it in the oil!!! First time I've been in here in years and forgot quite how good this place is, the fish supper was excellent and cooked to perfection the batter was top notch, the staff were really nice as well so don't hesitate to check this place out!

Great service- the girl who served us was very polite and helpful. Food was lovely and portion sizes were well worth the money.

We were just visiting the area and fancied some fish and chips by the waterfront. The girl who served us was polite and I liked having an extra piece of fish as a choice. I really enjoyed the food and brought back some childhood nostalgia, really one of the best chippies I've had in a long time.

We had driven all the way out too Inverary but the price was outrageous out there so we drove back to Helensburgh and glad we found this wee gem of a chip shop and myself, my wife and kids loved every bite. Definitely be back next time we're passing through!

Fish fryer was rude to customers who asked how long they needed to wait. Two young woman serving were embarrassed and nerves to talk to him and could see they felt awkward. Not a nice atmosphere for these young woman to work in.

This chip shop is an original feature in Helensburgh and is, in my opinion, easily, one of the best chip shops in Scotland. It's Italian owner prides himself in many years of experience in producing the most delicious food. The suppers are exactly as tasty as I remember 42 years ago when I was a child of 10 year old. Chips still done in dripping!! Stepping into the shop is like stepping back in time. Right on the seafront!! Reasonably priced and superb beyond belief!! I recommend!!

Last night of the holidays and we were looking for a tasty fish dinner to take back to the caravan. Lido did not disappoint! The food was tasty, the portions generous and the lady who served us was very nice. Thank you from a well fed, happy bunch.

Fish chips shop with no fish. Ok understand, it was past 8pm and may be a busy day but while long waiting for our just chips, saw to prep fish for someone else(well what ever). Waited so long to get a chips, been said sorry i forgot you and have only last regular portion. So waited for next round. Got regular anyway. Didnt have a power to argue. Paid £3.80 for large. Got regular, or if that was a large cant imagine what size is regular. "For that money!! Never more" Avoid.

Been going here for years when in Helensburgh best fish n chips food great and staff helpful ive known the owner for years going down to Helensburgh will be back soon

The staff here were outstanding a very busy peak time. Its not often I compliment the chef and say he could be working in a Michelin star restaurant. Well done guys, super impressed. I'll be back !

They only serve "white fish", I. E. they can't tell you if it's cod, haddock or River cobbler. Both the chips and the fish tasted quite greasy, though it was totally edible.

Thinking back on my time from 1987 to 1992 as a young man in the US Navy living in Helensburgh. I still think fondly of the best pizza I've ever had to this day that Kay and Lido would cook. My dinner table was the green trash can just out in front of Lido's. Had pizza all over the world and Lido's was always the best. Thanks for the memories...

Staff lovely but very expensive 2 small sausage supper 5 pounds 40 A cust ask for the two normal size sausage as in chip shops all over West of Scotland around 5 60 in this chip 8.60 are they gold lined. Good produce but customer cannot afford that. Sorry guys

Excellent chippy, had to wait a while for them to cook fish but that meant it was lovely & fresh. Price not too bad, staff are very nice.

Only had fish and peas, it’s excellent, you get 2 fish cooked fresh well worth the short wait. Staff don’t get chance to be overly friendly but the food is excellent.

Popped into Helensburgh for some food whilst on holiday. Had a couple of small fish and chips. Wonderful welcome from a young guy and great food. Would highly recommend!

We moved up here 10 weeks ago and I really can’t describe how utterly brilliant this place and all who work here are definitely the most welcoming and attentive to our needs. We have nearly always had the haggis supper and we phone the order through.... it’s always on time and utterly delicious. We have also had the sausage supper and the deep fried Cadbury cream egg and last night we had the fish supper. Now I’m a Cornish lass and missing her fish and chips I can add to the record that last nights fish and chips made my Cornish heart leap. Perfect and thank you so much. The lad behind the till ( who nearly gave me a pizza as we were chatting about the amazing qualities of the home made pizzas) .... the way you apologised because you had to take a phone order was extremely polite and great customer care. Love this place. Have stopped off here for years on day trips for a special fish and I'm never disappointed. Friendly staff and fresh food cooked on order. The queue was long tonight but what u do u expect when the food is so good. Well worth the wait and the dog loved his wee bit of fish. Sorry he was impatient he just loves special fish.

I ordered a 12" pizza with small chips, I waited an hour for it to be delivered to my home and when I got it, it wasn't hot and the chips were covered in thick layer of salt. I also had to pay over 15 pounds!!! For two things!!

I come from Glasgow, we come to Helensburgh just to buy food from this chip shop it's the best.

Waited for a while as I didn't fancy the fish and so ordered scampi! The scampi wasn't as good as what i buy in the supermarket and cook at home! My husband ordered a fish supper and was very disappointed - not as good as home and that isn't very good!

tried this for a change and the Portion sizes for the price was terrible but it was also a good thing as the food was Really Greasy. actually feel sick after eating it. Won't be back

Love this chippy! Always a stop point when coming into Helensburgh. Large portions and fairly competitive pricing. Quick and friendly service. And you can pay with card for no extra charge which is a plus. Kids menu is pretty decent.

Worse chip shop I’ve ever bin to, how this place is busy is beyond believe. Chips are under cooked everytime I’ve bin and the batter on anything falls away when you pull the paper away from your meal. Bin three time all in all and it’s worse everytime.Absolute disgrace, vile, horrible and that’s being nice

Sausage supper, sausage was nice and tasty. However chips are woefully terrible. Over cooked and left in the drain pan. Soft soggy and not good. They think by giving you a big portion it will be ok. No smaller and finish frying them off to order.

Surprised to see some poor reviews for the Lido, as we had a good experience. Service was fast enough, and the fish and chips was excellent. Pretty well priced compared to some of the other chippy's on offer in Helensburgh

A good breakfast roll but not the fastest. A lot of local chatter took priority over service. Friendly though.

I don't live near to this chip shop, but pass loads of others to come here.Lovely quality fish, freshly cooked and great chips. It's busy 'cause it's really good, and they keep the orders flowing, getting them out asap when ready. And they're well organised at that too. 1 piece of fish is a very good size ( a bit big for me, but I try my best ) and I can't imagine who would need 2 in a fish supper.

There's plenty of competition in Helensburgh but this is clearly the best with fresh ingredients, properly cooked and friendly staff.

staff taking orders constantly and everyones waiting to get there food and there getting mixed up wish who paid for what nasty female worker rolling her eyes at customers and talking about them when customers asking about there fish - to me a single fish is 1 piece of fish - a fish supper is 2 slice fish and chips - but no its only 1 slice of fish they call it a double if you want 2 slices fish with chips - the same goes with all the supper meals wouldnt buy from them again i wish i had waited in the long line of people waiting at the wee kelpie along the road will go there next time

Long established business:. We hit them just after lunch with only two staff on duty. A bit slow service but decent food well cooked.

This Fish & Chip shop on Helensburgh Sea front is a must visit for anyone local or any visitors to this town located on the shores of the Clyde. The choice of food is huge as they serve everything that you would expect from a chip shop and then some.

Don't buy chips here on a Monday afternoon used to love going here for a pizza and curry chips but today put me off. Reheats from the weekend solid,slimy and greasy chips , lots of small ends £1.75 for a very tiny square portion Drove down to the carpack at the sea shore and gave most if away to the awaiting seagulls far better at the Wee Kelpie but it dosen't open till 4 pm

Decent pizza, good tomato sauce, with the right amount cheese, the pizza base was really nice. I got the pepperoni which was ok but not the best pepperoni. Would recommend and wasn't too expensive either

If you want fish and chips don't go here I'm still looking for the fish. These people need to go somewhere like whitby to see how real fish and chips are done and at the right price. Not just serve bad food at high price

Fuimos para cenas especiales de pescado como hemos hecho muchas veces antes. Esta vez el pescado era delgada y sin sabor y había varios huesos. Esta es la peor cena de pescado que he tenido y en 7 libras cada una, sin duda, no porque eran una ganga. Si puedes evítalo.

First was over charged then shortchanged when I pointed this out was told I was wrong then after a few attempts at trying to do the maths in his head finally got correct change. The food was disappointing very greasy not worth the wait .

Nos volveremos, realmente no es así. El día de la pizza deliciosa de lido están bien y verdaderamente con la base de cartón tienes ahora. Esta doble horneado de la base no funciona. Que sería mejor cubra la caja de cartón con queso y salsa.

I go here from time to time if the ques are too long in the other chip shops, the food is ok but the issue is with the ordering of food and lack of waiting space, if any more than 5 people are in at once it all becomes a nightmare, customers seem to stand anywhere, nobody knows whos orderd and whos not, the staff often forget who is next and people jump the que down to sheer confusion. ......if it's quiet its worth poping in.....if its busy stay well away

My son requested a chippy for his birthday dinner and as a normal parent who does not the hassle I agreed. Upon waiting some 15 mins for the fish to be ready then the chips to be ready I eventually left the chip shop and proceeded home only to find out that for the princely sum of £6:20 per supper it was certainly lacking chips, in their defence the supper did come with 2 fish and were delicious. My request to them is this- just add another half scoop of chips and you will have the ideal fish supper!

Ordered a single fish and a fish supper from this takeaway. Was charged almost the same as two fish suppers - £11 To £12.40 Fish was lovely but the fish supper had two fish and a few chips, while the single fish had two fish. We really wanted a single fish and a fish supper with a proper portion of chips. The lady before us had a huge portion of chips with both fish suppers so don't know why they get it so wrong.

Each time we visit there are always queues out the door at this Fish n Chip shop.Quick service. Good qualify is. Freshly made pizzas.

My partner ordered a chicken supper. Was told it would be a 10 minute wait for chicken. She nipped round to Tesco and on returning was told another 5 mins. When the chicken was eventually ready they gave another customer who had just walked in the last of the chips so had to wait another near 10 mins for more chips. Could they not have given her the chicken and the chips and let the customer who had just walked in the extra wait. The food was not bad when she eventually got it. Chicken a bit dry but chips a million times better than The Wee Kelpie chippy along the road. I have had some nice fish suppers from The Lido in the past and think it really is hit or miss.

We as a family visit here regularly for carry out meals , ranging from Chicken and or Fish and Chips . Although I don't like it my children love Chips ,cheese and Curry sauce. Their black pudding is excellent . Cheery service and a great selection of juice cans and bottles .
