Stayed one night DBB. Restaurant clean, nice and relaxing. Ordered ham hock for starters which was excellent choice, enjoyed very much. Main course ordered the duck, again delicious Dessert just couldn’t resist ordering apple and toffee crumble which did not disappoint, excellent choice again. Enjoyed every course. The waitress and waiters on the night (Sunday) were fantastic. Breakfast was plenty full and excellent choice, ordered the full Scottish and couldn’t fault it perfect. Again staff fantastic. We stayed1 night with the DBB deal and it is fantastic will definitely be back to stay.

Very pleasant meal and atmosphere. £46 for a small fillet steak with half a mushroom and some fries is excessive, but food was good. Wine also incredibly overpriced. Thought we were at Gleneagles. Starters and desserts were very nice. Our waitress, Iona was excellent and is a credit to the restaurant. All in all good food, but some of the prices were excessive. We'd think twice about returning to stay at this hotel as it was like they new you had no other easy choice of somewhere to eat.

We ordered food the night we stayed to our room and cocktails. Cocktails were amazing food wasn’t great. Chips very soggy and undercooked. Breakfast came with the room so we went to resteraunt and I paid extra for morning tea. Breakfast was tiny no toast or anything. Had to pay extra for a late. No water or anything provided at table so also had to pay for juice. The scones weren’t great and oat pots were very very small so would maybe next time just stick to the normal breakfast as it didn’t seem like an upgrade. We would come back though as we had a great stay all over

Dinner was part of an overnight stay. Food was just OK. I wouldn't have paid the prices for the food and most definitely not the wine if I'd only been for dinner. Wine was ridiculously overpriced for mediocre. Syarter obviously bought in (ham hough). Cod fillet could have been wonderful. But it was lukewarm, skin wasn't crispy. Crumble overly sweet.

Beautiful setting and views of loch but average food and service was a little too rushed for our liking (would have been fine at lunchtime but not for dinner) Most disappointing of all was the menu which was slightly up market pub food rather than decent restaurant food - had a caesar salad which was OK, but would not have been my choice in Scotland.

There were 3 in our party; we were looked after by Lauren, who could not have been more helpful. One member of our party chose a sirloin steak, which was, unfortunately, over cooked. Lauren dealt with the situation perfectly and a fresh plate came out a little while later - with a beautifully cooked steak. I chose the rib eye - no complaints, it was gorgeous. My friend chose the butter chicken, which was delicious. My dessert was creme brulee; perfect creamy base and fantastic, crunchy caramel top. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Many thanks to all the staff, especially Lauren.

The staff are very welcoming upon arrival, the restaurant is beautiful in the day with the views looking out onto the loch and at night the lighting is perfect, makes you feel very relaxed and chilled. The food is beautiful and drink options are enough and all reasonably prices as well! The only downfall is we felt rushed by the staff when ordering food, we had to ask twice for a few more minutes when choosing from the menu on two separate occasions, it made us feel rushed into picking our food and the courses come quick and fast!! But other than that minor fault we couldn’t fault the place and the bar staff are very nice!

Lovely area and great rooms with special touches, however, terribly let down by the restaurant. The rib-eye steak was tough and difficult to cut, even with a steak knife. Very disappointing. This was our last night of holiday and looked forward to a special meal, but it was far from that. Is it not possible to have a designated children’s area? We listened to a child on the next table screaming on and off throughout our meal. We asked for ‘tender’ vegetables. Maybe the chef doesn’t understand the word ‘tender’? They were like bullets. My husband ‘s chicken was tough too! We expected better from a 4* hotel.

Beautiful restaurant with an amazing view, but service a little slow, took forever to serve us and they completely forgot the coffee at the end. Don't recommend the artichoke starter, the pulp was completely removed and replaced with tomatoes or something, it was so barbequed it was inedible, Cesar salad was good but the croutons could break your teeth so beware 😱. We were seated and told a twenty minute wait. There was a tour group there so some what busy. We waited for an hour for soup and one sandwich. We said something about it to the waitress and she said she would look into it. After a while a different waitress Hannah came to our table and argued with us and she literally came back to our table with the ticket for our meals saying we only were waiting for 29 minutes. I could not believe that she did that. You could tell she was mad. Very unprofessional rude and needs to learn proper etiquette on being a polite waitress. Soup was ok as was the sandwich. The location is lovely!! Beautiful views of the loch! Service was friendly. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The artichoke was barely cooked and almost inedible. The complements (a mustard based dip and a salsa on the artichoke itself) felt like an odd twist. The pesto pasta was very oily and lacked any kind of garnish or bread accompaniment. It was tough to taste the hake through the other flavors. The chicken wasn’t bad but the mashed potatoes for both dishes were extremely stodgy as though perhaps from a box? We would go back for drinks for sure and, again, the people were lovely…but we likely wouldn’t go back for food.

Disappointed by the breakfast skillet. Clearly they had been cooked early morning and kept under heated lamp. The potato scone was stoating, both had to pick this up to attempt to eat it. No beans or sauce offered. No toast. The scones were tasteless and not fresh, no butter offered and no clotted cream. Brownies were very tasty, thankfully. Tea and coffee both served tepid. Asked for water and napkins, obviously server forgot, and the place was quiet, has to ask someone else. All in all disappointed by service and quality of food therefore would not recommend. We did enjoy scenery.

Following my last five star afternoon tea review I am afraid this morning tea was far from five star. Our friends were restricted by arrival time so morning tea was booked within booking time of a later 11.45. We were seated quickly by a very nice member of the team and drinks and meal specifics ordered. Firstly two meals arrived 9-10 minutes before the second two as a group of four we all sat while the hot items reduced in temperature . Suggestion bring the cold items out in advance if serving granola as most people would eat that first. The menu was :Homemade granola with yoghurt and berry compote • Breakfast skillet of sausage, bacon, tattie scone, poached egg and mushrooms • Homemade scones with cream and jam • Chef's sweet treat So we ate the “granola” I would recommend management to not announce but go sit down and order the home made granola and compote- it’s not the best and had been made hours in advance. Moving on lovely sausage and potato scone, no mushrooms, the bacon look dark and dried , unfortunately i could not get the knife through the bacon and eggs were well overcooked and hard - the later two deliveries of food were better than the first two so perhaps the first two were taken from a different batch. Scone was not freshly made that morning or if it was it was stored incorrectly and dried out , even with the jam and half the cream still dry. The sweet treat - was a dried brownie - no one consumed. The staff member asked how things were as we were eating the hot Items, I explained the problem with my hot items, the staff member offered to get another slice of bacon or egg I said no as I had already eaten most of the hot items but requested that chef receive feedback that even although customers are arriving late on the morning they should receive freshly prepared products as described and that the experience was not great and I did not think I would repeat the morning tea in the future as the experience was not great- this was before we had moved on the the scone and the “sweet treat” no one returned and asked about those. The team also need to look at the tray stands as the paint is flaking off them. So my last review for afternoon tea was 5 star the morning tea unfortunately would be 2.5 - 3 . Kitchen food service let us and the lodge on Loch Lomond team down yesterday. I would not be in a hurry to repeat.

Scallops were fresh but the sauce let it down and the bread was stale and expensive . Met up with a friend for lunch today. ALWAYS reliably happy with our meals at The Esplanade over the many years.... But today's young chef was very astute with his skills. We had *Cullen skink, the baguette was fresh and warmed....so often it is not; (it's the little things like this that make you come back,), *fish n chips, and *incredibly chunky steak pie, with a lid rising up to the ceiling I'm my opinion all 3 meals really were the best examples on the island. Well done to: *The Esplanade for keeping up the standards of quality which bring people back * The Chef * The always friendly and helpful waitress 😁 (Love the new curtains and furnishings 😁)
