100% would not recommend, chicken skewer was still pink, rest of the food tasted microwaved, asked to speak to head chef was told no, asked to speak to manager was told, FOH were rude. Chefs stand and stare at you from the kitchen door, only thing that was good was the ice in our drink.

Friendly staff. Very slow service. Although it was fresh the food not worth the price. Place was cold. Free three course meal for people on their birhday advertised. It was my uncles birthday and he was given a free main course but paid for the starter and sweet. All in all very disappointing.

Well I would recommend the Elizabethan! Great service from friendly staff. We both had the chicken skewer kebabs served with roasted vegetables, skin on fries, choice of sides and choice of sauce, all nice, the chicken and roast d veg cooked perfectly! Give it a try 😁

Amazing food and amazing value. They have a new chef here and it was stunning and I’m very fussy and a bit of a food snob 😃. They also do a deal where if it is your birthday you get all 3 courses free, so we got an amazing price

We had a large group (6 adults, 2 kids) and were happy to be seated around 6 pm on a Friday. I was surprised the place was not more busy. The food was pretty good. We had a variety of things: fish and chips, steak pie, gyros, curry, and kids mac and cheese. It was a good place to stop in the town of Dunfermline.

We were a family of four walk in with no booking. We were welcomed and shown to a table. New menu since the last visit but still a good choice of meals. Kids menu was good and both enjoyed Mac & cheese with puddings. It was a lovely touch that their garlic bread came in a wee box with some wee surprise toys added. This kept them entertained! The adults had a chicken skewer which was good, the chicken and veg were tasty. With better chips and homemade tzatziki this meal could be outstanding. Kids had 2 courses and drink for £9.95. And in total with two adult main meals and 4 alcoholic drinks we were about £70. While not cheap, we felt it definitely reasonable. Service was a bit slow at times however staff were lovely, one girl switched on the train for my boys and another lad didn’t bat an eye when my 5yo asked for his water bottle to be filled. We live locally and would return.

Came for dinner here twice now and also a lunch since the new menu & thoroughly recommend! Katsu curry was delicious & great portion size, hanging kebab was great, was a bit skeptic about how the chicken would be, but was so moist and had a lot of flavour! The 3 times I’ve been it has been quite busy but the staff are very attentive. The kids meals are a great portion size & great value for what you pay also! Every time I’ve been the food has tasted better than the last, definitely my new favourite local pub 👍🏻

Been going to the Elizabethan for years, first they remove the beef burnt end nachos from the menu :(, when I asked why they said it was because people complained it was ‘too big’ a portion … I used to get them as my main meal and was never disappointed. Recently the menu has changed, and the chicken and chorizo with sweet potato fries has been removed :( it was absolutely delicious, so I had to choose something else , I went for the katsu curry … the sauce tasted like a korma and the meat was like ‘chicken Maryland’ from a Chinese takeaway , which is fine if you like that… but never have I had a katsu curry that tastes like korma , it was too sweet. I did try and order the tacos for starter but there was none left , my partner tried to order fish which was also not available. The apple crumble was delicious however. I believe the chef has changed, I don’t think we will be returning unless they bring back the chicken and chorizo or beef burnt end nachos as we’ve tried many different things and nothing compares.

One star as can't put 0. This was our 2nd visit, returned after the 1st as benefit of the doubt after a mediocre experience. Unfortunately 2nd time round was far worse. Poor organisation and communication between front of house and kitchen. Extremely poor service. Waited around 45 mins for starters, asked for our child's food to be brought out also but this was never received. Eventually walked out after over an hour since starters for mains, still no child's meal in this time either! Had previously asked what was happening to be told the supervisor was having a word with the kitchen. We were however not approached by the supervisor, no explanation, no apologies made. No further drinks order, completely neglected in plain sight. Numerous tables seated after us had received their meals without issue. One tearful upset and hungry child. We won't be returning and would not recommend to anyone.

We ate here recently as a party of three. The service was good as was the atmosphere and i would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't been for my chicken...it was overcooked and very dry. Went with friends on a Thu for lunch. Place was fairly empty at first but became busy. I ordered the Lizzie burger which is something I would not normally order and it was very good. My friend ordered the Balmoral chicken and the ladies both had the Korma. Everyone enjoyed what they had. We found the service more than acceptable. This is pub grub and does not pretend to be anything more but having said that it was good pub grub. There are specials and a tapas menu. I was going to mark this as average but I suppose for me it lies between average and very good. Worth the money we paid

Locally, it is known at The Lizzie. To those not resident in the Dunfermline area it is the Elizabethan and it is situated on busy Halbeath Road, just yards from the busy junction which leads to the Queen Margaret Hospital. We've driven past it many times on the way to visit and wondered what it was like. On this occasion we passed it as we walked towards the surprisingly scenic Town Loch, less than five minutes drive from central Dunfermline, and the national site of Waterski and Wakeboard Scotland. Incidentally, there were two guys waterskiing despite ice noted in certain parts of the pond. One quipped: "My toe is a little cold." No wonder. There is a busy wee cafe on site, only yards from a spacious car park, but we strode on as the rain clouds loomed above. We headed back towards central Dunfermline and, by then, we were in need of refreshment, and a comfort break. Strolling along the Halbeath Road we passed The Elizabethan and thought: "Why not?" In off the main road and around the building through the car park did not set pulses racing, but we came upon the entrance and that looked more inviting. Opening the doors revealed a spacious, well-appointed bar with a variety of beer pumps, sadly not one with real ale on the day we visited, but there were plenty of alternatives including Spanish and Italian choices. The menu was pub grubby and it looked good. The prices were OK too so we indulged. Our excuse? It started raining so better inside eating than outside getting wet. Chicken and leek pie with chips was one pick. Fish and chips the other. We enjoyed a Birra Moretti and Guinness while our meal was prepared. This was a Wednesday at lunchtime and there were customers dotted around the restaurant which has plenty of room for diners. Out came the food. The chicken and leek was served in a dish. Loads of meat filling and a tasty sauce. It ticked all the right boxes (£13.95). Speaking of boxes, the beer battered haddock and chips, a big fish by the way, arrived in a box with peas and salad and tartare sauce (£15.95). Pleasing to the eye and also to the palate. The fish flaked beautifully and the chips were spot on. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. One further point, the loos were spotless if a little dated and the disinfectant smell indicated that they had been recently cleaned. One piece of history. The Elizabethan is named after the daughter of James VI who was born in Dunfermline Palace in August 1596. At the time of her birth, her father was King of Scots only. Ecosse Inns are the present "incumbents" according to the website and The Elizabethan is only a short walk from East End Park, home of Dunfermline Athletic. Pop in. We enjoyed it and will be back. Opening hours noon to 11 daily, Friday and Saturday noon to 12am. The Elizabethan, 110 Halbeath Road, Dunfermline KY12 7LX t: 01383 725877

What has happened to this place. I have been coming here for 40+ years and through many owners. Sadly, the current incumbents are dragging this establishment into the ground. Who owns it, or is it part of a group ?? Poor Bill Murray will be turning in his grave. I came today with family, on the 3rd request to have the table cleared the waitress tells me she will if my attitude changes. Raging !!! i ask the young lad at the bar if the manager is around, he informs me that this woman is the manager. At least that made us laugh. I said to her she desperatley needs some customer service training to which she informs me she has been doing this for 15 years LoL. In how many places i wonder. Sadly due to all this i was unable to tell them how poor some of the food was. Absolute disgrace and not surprised to find many similar reviews on this site. Thankfully i'm sure the current team will eventually be found out & perhaps i may return again 1 day.

Pints severed in plastic cups (which weren’t pint size) beer prices inflated today due to a sporting event on locally. Only 3 bar staff on. Two of which openly abusing customers. I wish I could give them 0 stars. Not a friendly pub. Definitely will not be back. Look at the food and service reviews from others. This was not a one off occurrence. No wonder the pub trade is failing. I will be pursuing a complaint with the brewery. Never again.

Very disappointing. Sunday Roast : Beef overcooked : Lamb fatty and overcooked. So tough had to send back reluctantly as we had waited 30 minutes for the original meal to arrive. Replaced beef , half portion of original and no lamb. Had to ask where lamb was and informed too fatty to send out. Beef was little better but staff had no idea how to deal with my complaint. They still charged us for the tough lamb and only reduced by £2:99 when it was queried. Should have read previous reviews and never gone in first place. Lack of experience and if its a decent chef in the kitchen they should have been embarrassed sending out our original Beef. Don't waste your money as they are not cheap .

Finally, after many second chances, I will no longer frequent this establishment. The service is woeful! A change of ownership/management is badly needed. I’ve never come across such inexperienced bar staff in my life - that’s after 18 months of hoping they’d get better. Don’t even attempt to watch sporting events here as you’ll be sorely disappointed by their lack of willingness to ensure their big screen is working - God forbid you ask them to turn the game on that THEY actually advertised! And don’t expect any volume. If looking for pub grub, head into town instead. If looking for a traditional boozer for the footie, walk 20 mins to the East Port Bar.

Great food, service and staff, from the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome from Kaitlyn she fussed over our 13year old chocolate cocker spaniel and made us all feel at ease. We had starter and main course, the food was nicely cooked and all delicious we couldn’t fault it. We will definitely be back. We usually go to adventure golf at Fife Leisure Park and eat there however none of the restaurants welcome dogs so we thought we would try the Elizabethan on our way in and have to say we were not disappointed. Restaurants at FIfe Leisure Park could learn a thing or two from here from great customer service, yummy food and 5 very satisfied customers. Thank you so much.

My wife booked a table for 6 plus a dog and when we arrived it was clear a table had not been allocated, maybe because it was empty. We even had to haggle a bit about about where to sit. We all had starters and main meals plus drinks. I chose the Tempura king Prawns, which was sent back as the batter was more like soft Yorkshire pudding. One of my daughters had the same and just extracted the prawns from the batter. I also disliked the sauce supplied, sweet chilli would have been much better. My other daughter chose the Haggis Scotch Egg, it was also sent back as being cold. One of the main meals was a Caesar Salad which contained basic leaf lettuce as opposed to the recommended Romain. My steak pie was actually very good with lots of beef, but again the pastry topping lacked crispness. Basically there were lots of issues, service in particular was not good with main meals coming out at different times and white wine being served without an ice bucket. There was clearly staff issues in the kitchen and a shortage of waitresses. The area we dined in remained empty throughout. We did get 2 meals taken off the bill, but needless to say there was no gratuities. A shame, a favourite local no more.

A planned quick Friday night dinner for six and our dog turned into a not so pleasant evening, which is unusual given we all together at times and independently eat there and never usually have an issue! Started with trying to squeeze us in into an unsuitable table, so we moved to have more space! Which is just as well as one of us had tapas with lots of plates- the other table would certainly not have worked! The pub was not busy and certainly not as we have seen it in the past! As we were getting settled at the table the drinks order was taken. We were starting to wonder where it was but it did appear. Food order was taken - with three trips for the waitress to go back and check to the kitchen on items we were asking about! Fair enough - the result being no haggis spring rolls and no specials left having just sold the last one by 6.30 ish! We waited and waited and the starters eventually started to come out about 40 mins later. By now the drinks had gone down so we’re ordered more for those who were not driving. The starters were mixed - the prawn batter was think and soggy for what was supposed to be Tempura King Prawns - we think it was more like Yorkshire pudding batter that was used! Needless to say not eaten! The black pudding scotch egg was cold - who wants a runny cold egg yolk over cold black pudding? So that was sent back! Starters finished and plates cleared and the black pudding scotch egg reappeared - a fresh one and hot and probs overcooked as the outside was now well done and black pudding dry! Eating when everyone else had stopped a good ten mins before! The waitress said she would clear the table and took the wine cooler away so when the fresh bottle of wine came it was just plonked on the table to slowly get warm! Who want warm white wine! When asked to just bring the mains out whilst one of us was finishing thier well done starter we were told oh they’re not ready yet! So we sat and sat and the first lot of mains started coming out one hour and fifteen after sitting down! I know wee don’t like to be rushed but come on! Half the table got thier mains and we were left sitting - not looking like the other half of the tables food was forthcoming we encouraged the table to start! Just as well really as our waitress was now serving two tables seated on the upper tier before the second half of our table! Now I’m not a professional chef or server but I am pretty sure that when you call service please it’s for the whole table and not just half! The rest of the tables food came an hour and a half after sitting down. When I said to the waitress I was not happy I did get an apology and she said I will get my manager. We were eating and the manager came over and told her what had happened she said she would take the prawns off the bill! Fair enough I said but what about the slow and info-ordinated service to which she said oh I have problems with my kitchen tonight! So to avoid us and say nothing or apologise up front and serve a mixed bag of food is the answer! Hmmm One of us had the balmoral chicken which was lovely apparently but very dry as there was little sauce with it! When asked for more sauce it appeared as we were asking for the bill! That I think sums up the night! I went to pay the bill and when checking it the manager said I’ve taken the prawns off - I repeated this giving her a subtle chance to make an apology a token attempt to say I have by way of an apology for the crap service and mediocre food taken off the pint of beer or a gin or a bottle of wine or something but no her answer was I’ve taken off the food that wasn’t eaten! I paid the bill and gave her some feedback that I was hugely disappointed that she did nothing to apologise for the very poor service and the delay to our evening. Our table still lay in tatters with empty plates empty glasses whilst we finished our drinks or in my case water and was still there when we left to be met by the three girls including the manager standing doing nothing at the door clearly doing nothing and clearly discussing me/our table which was really not the most professional! As everyone of our friends know we all who were present last night eat out a lot together and separately as couples or as a foursome - it’s the thing we all enjoy doing and in all types of places from pub grub to high end dining. The Lizzie you let us down for a quick pre card games night Friday night dinner and how you handled this suggests to me that your staff need to go back to Customer Service school and find out the meaning of making your customers happy from the basics from the manager of even a smile which can defuse any situation the greeting was as warm as the cold black pudding scotch egg!

Arrived for our booking and I'd asked to be moved table as they put us in a booth and me and my husband are big people so they moved us to a more suitable table straightaway so we ordered starters to share and asked for sideplates to be told they didn't have any so we used napkins which was slightly awkward but ok so I had to ask for them to clear empty glasses from the table (twice) and also I didn't like the batter that was used on the chicken goujons and onion rings but that's personal preference my daughter said the chicken tasted like fish. So as starters were cleared away we Asked for more napkins waited a good 30mins between starters bring cleared and mains bring brought out. The waiter was slamming things like the jug of water on the table as he put it down just felt all a bit strange. The main meals arrived and so did the napkins the meals were tasty thought the fish n chips in the crate was a bit strange but if that's how it's served that's how it's served. Had desserts as well bill was reasonable £30 pp approx for 3 courses and 2 ciders I wouldn't rush back as service was slow. Great food and great service. Good idea to book ahead as it was very busy when we arrived. I had the biggest fish and chips I’ve ever seen and my partner went for an amazing steak pie. We’ll be back soon

Dear God. Didn’t think this place could get worse but it has. Not enough staff, tables not cleared, no water in hot water urn, no clean mugs, no milk in coffee machine and the one poor staff member totally run off his feet trying to cope eventually collapsed with the stress of it all. Ambulance was called so I do hope the poor man is okay. Absolutely appalling that Morrisons management have let this go on for so long! Staff your cafe or shut it down!! We sat for an hour and a half and dud not receive our order especially after staff member collapsed. Werent offered a refund as till couldn’t be opened???? But were given a had written credit note for a free meal next time. After a second disastrous visit to this cafe I’m not sure I would return again!! Management get it sorted!!!

We had a bad experience at this place. We went around 10 pm for drinks as we were told this place is opened till 11pm. But the staff and shift supervisor told us they are closed as there was no guests and they were not professional to welcome us. It was very obvious from their voice and look that they didn't want to serve us. Me, my brother and our teen children were visiting Scotland and it was very harsh to see such unprofessional and weird customer service. It was also obvious from their approach that they were mean to our color of skin and not happy to see color customers. Even though we talk about diversity but still people are not mentally and emotionally accept the diversity.

Avoid until the manager/owner recognises that her behaviour is incompatible with hospitality, although I suspect she's not the type of person to take feedback. I wish I'd read the reviews before I spent my money there. I didn't enjoy seeing an elderly fellow customer shouted at about a coffee, or other customers being told off about where they sat, and I didn't enjoy seeing a staff member being told off either. I also didn't enjoy hearing plates crashing about, if you have an open kitchen you might be aware of this. The food was nice enough but overpriced and the menu is very limited. I'm afraid there are no reasons to visit the cafe that are greater than the reasons not to visit. I'll be back to Culross but not to Biscuit.
