We had tea and a treat at Marks and Spencer’s Staff was very friendly the babychinos for our two little girls were free of charge the kids meals came with an extra piece of fruit and the ham and cheese toasty was cooled down a bit so they won’t burn themself what a great service - The food was fresh and delicious for a very reasonable price! Definitely check it out if you would like a quick snack

Stopped by for a coffee. Ordered a large cappuccino which was a decent size and a medium coffee which was far too small compared to the large. Also ordered a bubble tea. Considering this cost £4 - this is ridiculous cost considering this was mostly water! Far far too expensive. The scone we ordered was passable - still very dense as if not cooked properly. Could be so much better.

Popped in for a latte and roll and sausage. My wife is in a wheelchair and an assistant quickly appeared beside us and offered to help us to a table (it was pretty busy). Quickly served and hot food delivered reasonably quickly and consumed with glee. Recommended

I was greeted by a male server for coffee who referred to me as ‘mate’. The time and date was 09:30 on 21 September. The coffee was absolutely terrible and I left after one sip. Never again shall I visit this cafe. Training staff on courtesy and politeness would be a productive start.

I shop regularly at my Local M&S Foodhall, but they don't have a cafe. Everyone said I should go to the Gyle Store - and they're right. I was blown away by the range in the Foodhall and even got a free cup of coffee in the coffee aisle. The people who complained that the store was busy on 23 December must live in "cloud cuckoo land". Order in advance and save yourself some grief.

High quality convenience food at reasonable prices. Ironically a couple of sandwiches and two teas is more expensive than the £10 meal for two offer in the store.

Very good selection for breakfast. My husband and I stayed at the budget Ibis hotel across the road and popped over to M&S; for our breakfast. Would recommend this rather than the basics of theirs.

If you want a snack or light meal at a reasonable price, the café at Marks and Spencer is a good choice. Most of the items served are available for purchase in the food hall,

Someone is needing to take a good look at the set up of the way the cafe works. The coffee is continually lukewarm to cold even when asking staff to make it really hot, it's still not hot enough. My experience today was enough to make me say we won't be back. In the queue there was a woman in front of me and a gentleman behind me. The woman paid then while waiting for her coffee to be served, I was then asked by staff what I had on my tray and what drinks I wanted. Paying for this I was then also standing waiting on coffee/tea to be served when the gentleman behind me was then asked what he had bought and what drinks he wanted. He then had to come between me and the woman in front of me to pay by card in view of myself and the other customer. I was then served my tea/coffee but had no cutlery, having to ask the woman in front of me if she minded if I leaned over her tray which had food on it, to reach the cutlery I then had to ask her if she would hand me napkins. This is not on having customers to move out the way so other customers can pay and having to excuse yourself to others to lean over their food to get cutlery and napkins. Come on Marks and Spencer....this is not the usual service that comes from a company of your standard. No complaints about the staff as they are only doing their job which is hindered by the set up of your counter.

The café provides a welcome pause between shopping, providing a decent range of tasty snacks/light meals. The store itself is super, providing a wide range of goods, many of which are only seen in the largest branches. Free parking is a bonus.

So easy for me to get to & love the range of massive goods that they carry at this store. Much better laid out than in town with lots of space between clothing racks. Plenty of parking too.

I think the lack of competition that M and S have created for themselves at the gyre cafe shows. It is too busy and absolutely filthy. Good coffee - went there at 9.00am last week and under our table was absolutely disgustingly dirty from the day before! Also the walls and tables filthy. Environmental health need to pay a visit.

My wife and I were visiting Scotland. While we do not want a huge lunch we wanted something filling and reasonably priced. We had found some restaurants were tourist driven and very very expensive.I am Scottish though it had been over 40 years since I had been there.(my first to Edinburgh) I am from the Glasgow area.We went into Marks and Spensers because it is also a department store. All types of fashion plus a grocery store We discovered this one on Princes Street...I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS EATING ESTABLISHMENT.They serve everything from Steak pies to fish and chips. If all you want is a tea and pastry..They have that too.My wife and I had a delightful lunch..for 12 pounds very very reasonable...Try the soup of the day it is so fresh

This is a busy cafe inside Marks and Spencer at the Gyle in Edinburgh. Plenty of tables, slow service as the tills get slowed down because of the jam as you have to wait for the hot drinks to be created, but that's the only down side as the food is good.

I have eaten in several Marks and Spencer cafes and while the food is good I always find the service SO SLOW people waiting to be served are always complaining about the length of time it takes. Marks really need to take a look at this problem and find a way to make their staff move a bit quicker as people do get fed up waiting.

This is a nice enough place, but is busy and we only just managed to get seats for 6 of us. It was worth it, we had various sandwiches, toasted sandwiches etc and a child's meal. Food was hot and tasty, the coffees were lovely and strong, just how we like it! Well stocked with food and the staff did their best considering how busy it was. I will go back.

Popped in here quickly for a quick snack as did not have much time to hand.I went to three check outs before I had to go to a fourth when they took my order.I only had a baked potato with cheese and butter and pot of tea.The potato was small and surrounded with only lettuce and two cherry tomatoes and three small bits of cucumber. The tea was hot but I think they should re-think their milk jugs - very tiny and not enough milk for 2 cups of tea. However served the purpose.

Food good, staff polite, layout - bright and airy - so why does no-one manage this unit and respond to queues of people waiting to pay for their food. This is a frequent source of frustration, and today I asked someone to do so - took 5 whole minutes!!! come on M&S you are letting an otherwise brilliant store experience become annoying ...

This is a great place to go for lunch! The atmosphere is very good with a general hubbub of chatter. It is ideal for families with young children as well as for meeting with friends for a blether! The decor is nice and modern and clean and there is a nice big window with trains passing by behind a hedge! Ideal for keeping the kids amused! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My cousin and I were shopping in The Gyle Centre Park and also in Marks and Spencer when we decided to go to their restaurant for a 'bite' to eat and have a rest. The renovations have certainly made an improvement and the restaurant is brighter and food served much quicker. My cousin ordered a currried baked potato and myself a cheese and butter potato which were hot and two pots of tea which were hot - we only went here as my cousin wished to shop in Marks but being near the Gyle I would have no hesitation in going back even for a coffee.Toilets were spotless and staff efficient.

Booked for lunch declared ,shellfish allergy, was told. That they could not guarantee cross contamination asked how serious the allergy was ,I have an episode pen. Was told that someone should have contacted me about it ,they did not, waste of a journey and paying for parking. Will not be back. If you have any allergies avoid this place.

I almost never leave reviews, but I felt I had to because I felt so ripped off here. I'm a local and had time to kill before work so I popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, but I got the smallest piece of avocado toast I've ever seen for a tenner. I'm still hungry. I sort of knew it would be a mistake to go somewhere touristy but now I know I definitely won't be back. There are nicer places on Cockburn Street, never mind the rest of the Old Town.

Went with family to have a nice breakfast but were all utterly disappointed. Very small selection of breakfast items and all potions were far too small. I ordered full Scottish breakfast but left feeling hungry after spending over £1, sausages both meat and vegan were very nasty in their taste and all items were below average for an premium price - never again.

We ate here before the Lion King with the VIP Ambassador Lounge deal and it was all very good . I had read some of the negative reviews and was a bit wary after booking but it was a really nice experience. The food was fine , we had chicken skewers and soup and burgers and there was no complaints , but the service was excellent . The girls who served us were efficient and very friendly. They took us up to the lounge and again we had friendly service . All made for a great night , well done
