The Foot of the Walk in Edinburgh, City of

Closing down on 3/11, Shame to see it go, the last "cheap" venue left in Leith, got to feel sorry for a lot of the old timers, although they'll probably migrate up to The Playfair at The Omni Centre. Certainly opens up a gap in the market in Leith for a pub owner with a bit of business savvy.

We both had a small breakfast, the food was ok but needs to come out much hotter had to eat it quickly before it went cold.

Food got sent bk because it wasn't what I asked for

This was the first time we had been to a wetherspoons the food was very nice I really enjoyed the fish and my partner enjoyed the grill mix the sausage looked cheap but everything was very nice this location is not the best one but was fine we would probably try a nicer location next time - nice service from the staff to thank you the only reason I gave a 4 star was the sausages could do with being better quality and the location from the outside dose not look to good but inside is ok thanks again to the staff for their hard work.

It used to be one of my favorite sites years ago, now the quality has gone down quite a bit. Still the price is affordable.

Please do not take this away. Excellent place to meet people of all ages. X

Cheapest pints in any wetherspoons I've been in. £1.79 a pint. Needless to say we stayed till closing. Would definitely recommend if your in the area and want very cheap drink.

The foot of the walk weather spoon is the worst place I have ever entered really bad hospitality. The staff were really miserable. We told the staff to clean up the table but he didn't listen to us. I recommend people who visit Edinburgh the foot of the walk never go there and waste money. Really disappointing. Having a great reputed restaurant and the staff were disappointing. Really tucked it up place.

Highly recommended!!! Correct food, very cheap price for what Edinburgh is, possibly with the cheapest beers and coffees in the entire city. But the best of all without a doubt was the attention of a young girl with short hair who was very nice and attentive. Perfect place to make a quick stop, hydrate, eat something in a quiet atmosphere and continue getting to know the city.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a compact and modern design! The architecture like the bridge shown running from the ceiling is nice, counter is well-presented and cocktails were quality.

Apart os junkies taking drugs at the toilets and sat in the steps at the front door? Just another Wetherspoon.

The most authentic thing in Edinburgh! Food and drink abundant and at a good price. Quiet environment.

Love this pub when I visit Edinburgh. Nice area of Leith and not packed with tourists. Tram stops outside pub too.

It's OK fair prices. Allmost refused service because they thought we were with another group but weren't.

It's a weatherspoons, don't expect too much. Inexpensive beer, minimal services. It was clean compared to some others I've been to. The counter staff were polite and attentive. You don't go there for the banter or atmosphere do you?

Recommended 100% quiet and cheap environment. Very friendly waiters

It is what it is like what they say you know what you are getting with a Wetherspoon's. Easy to order and great selection of drinks. Would say compared to other Wetherspoon's in area it needs a bit of TLC my fave is the coley picture house

Hadn't been here for well over 20yrs ,what a pleasant surprise food good,booze price's excellent will definitely be back.

The food was cheap. It was quiet when I was there, which was great. The staff were friendly. All in all, it was a nice place.

Superb pub enjoyed by regular clientele including ourselves. Friendly waiters and fast delivery of fresh food and its accompanied drink make this such a valued hostelry. Noisy music is absent. Long may Foot of the Walk function.

One of the best value bars in Edinburgh, with a slightly different feel to other wetherspoons - more laid-back. Very quick service even for food. No music playing so it's relaxed with a friendly chitter chatter background noise. There is so much choice for food, and it's fairly good for what it is. Wouldn't say their drinks are all that good but still, they are cheap and decent. Surprisingly clean toilets that I've never ever had to wait in a queue for.

On our way to Dunfermline, we stopped off in Leith for a wander and a brew. The Foot Of The Walk was our destination for a cheap cup of coffee. It was cheap and it was indeed coffee. And that's about as memorable as the visit got. Utterly forgettable, the pub was a little unkempt. Most of the tables needed a bit of a clean and the pub just felt a bit forgotten. It was busy, that was a defense, definitely. However, there were just too many uncleared tables and too much detritus on the ugly carpet for our liking. We left and made our way to Dunfermline. As you do.

They cannot get eggs correct at breakfast 😩 2 years later and they’re still thick as excrement. Ordered a breakfast, eggs were RAW. Asked for no tattie scone (they’re not tattie scones, there a pitiful attempt by an English company) and toast instead. No fake tattle scone and no substitute toast. So raw egg and items missing. Sent back to rectify. Came back with cold bacon and beans and still no extra toast. What kind of intellectual redundant idiots are employed here? Refund requested.

Great place for beers, snacks and meal. They have pretty diverse menu and food tastes good (mostly). Prices are great. And all-you-can drink coffees and teas.

This place used to be good but now this place is about to close down . So it seems they will mainly employ rude and ignorant staff . The last few times I've been in I've met some very rude staff I went to the till to order a drink no one was in front of me then someone who had been at a table (to field a fresh order ) came in behind me . It 's not rocket science you would always serve the customer who got to the bar first . How ever because I'm not white it did seem the ignorant and somewhat racist bar maid tried to talk over me and instruct me that the man behind me who cut in with a fresh order was getting served first . For no valid reason Eventually the person behind me conceded and I got served however I believe had it not , not been for that she would have probably tried to force racial bias on the situation . The women looked like a wasp chowing a bull dog hated to be there serving people and doing her job . I certainly don;t want to to back given the lowering of standards . Only staff member I met who was nice the last few times was the guy bringing the orders to the tables.

This place is general. Food prices are cheaper than the Waverley station. The staff is very funny.

Got my Sunday Club roast beef, with Maris Piper roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, sage & onion stuffing balls, garden peas, veggies & gravy...plus a pint of lager all for £ 7.75..it does exactly as it says on the tin. You order it over the counter and get that served to your chosen table, no frills. Really useful when you can 't be bother to cook on a Sunday. Free WiFi (The Cloud) available too. Service was very good too.

I had the vegan Vegetable pizza. Looked a bit miserable. I think it could have had more toppings.

This Wetherspoons is not fancy, but it's clean and comfortable and has the feel of a friendly, neighbourhood pub. The food is not the best I've ever eaten, but it's hardy and tasty. Also, very reasonably priced. I had the meal-sized Mediterranean salad, a combination of mixed greens, grilled veggies, and healthy grains. I also opted for grilled chicken breast. It was quite delicious and relatively low-cal. My partner had the basic hamburger and fries, both tasty and filling. Nothing fancy; just good, basic pub fair. That both meals came with a very inexpensive alcoholic drink is a nice perk. too.

Haven't been here in around 15 years! Still looks the same. It was however very chilled out for a Saturday, especially that Hibs were playing home. The place was clean too and plenty of choice of seats around the place. Using the app is always easy to navigate and prices are the same on the app as they are the menu. It's very cheap here compared to other bars around, but quality of drinks isn't lacked. Food wasn't the best, and ordering the gourmet burger (think that's what it was) I was meant to have 6 onion rings. I had 5. No way I'm gonna ask for an extra ring from the kitchen. But if it says 6 on the menu it should come with 6! Had to ask for the pancakes which shouldve came after meal but didn't. (there was quite a gap from finishing food to this point). Would come here again because of the price of everything.

The owner ain't nice, but when you order a breakfast at 8.01am you get it at 8.10am. It's not fancy, but it's cheap, quick, and ye get what ye asked for, can't complain about that. This weather spoons feels like an airport bar where all the planes are going to rebab centres.

A terrible disappointment! We were a group of 28 (26 students, 2 teachers) and we (teachers) went by twice to arrange for us to eat togther, which was fine, according to the bartender we spoke to. They don’t do reservations, but it’s a large place, and the tender said that Thursday was fine, so we thought: alright. Come the night in question, and another tender (manager?) turned us down with no service-mindedness whatsoever!! Not in any way recommendable!

Came with a groupe of 26 people - after having asked in advance - but was turned down as they “could not serve so many”. So much for trying to make an arrangement beforehand.

Was very empty when I went and lots of seating. Enjoyed listening to other customers talking in thick Scottish accents until things turned racist, typical spoons.

We had a couple of pints of craft beer from beer fest. Really enjoyed it. Great price and atmosphere,sadly didn't have any food with that.

Went in with my 2 year old on my own for a drink. Asked if they would mind helping me to my table as I was holding my child and no buggy. They said yes then served someone else leaving me standing. I asked again and was told I needed to go around pub to find a table then come back to tell them. Why? I can't guarantee the table still being available when we go back. It's hard enough carrying a child without needing to loop round. Lack of empathy for the customer.

It's not a place I would go to normally but was hungry and had time to spare. Food cheap drinks cheap, so no expectations and none met. Had to stand at the bar for an unacceptably long time whilst regulars got served before me, even though there were only 4 people at the bar when I got there. Bonus: it was warm and dry.

Both my partner and I ordered double american cheese burger. He bit into his burger and 1st bit was plastic. He pulled the plastic out the burger and returned his burger and got his money back. We had ordered pint and a half of lager tops to which they never offered my partner this for free as a good will gesture they only gave me the money back for burger. I know this may not be company policy but is it not customer service? to offer the pint for free. I said to manager that neither wonder your being closed down with that attitude towards customers. Wont be back before it closes

Don't understand all the snooty negative comments. As I usually find there, friendly staff, best value for money pint you'll get anywhere, friendly people of mainly older age group enjoying a quiet drink and affordable food. Shame if its true that this place is up for sale.

wouldn’t come here if you value basic hygiene, they gave me a glass which clearly hadn’t been washed with lipstick on the rim. one member of staff also laughed in my friends face x

Great place to meet and have a nibble and drinks

I ordered a breakfast here a week ago. Firstly given dirty cutlery that I asked to be changed. Food then delivered to the table with 2 cold eggs with a crusty yolk that when prodded revealed an empty yolk kind of dome? Toast was also cold. At this point I asked to be refunded. They promptly refunded me and did not seem at all surprised by the situation I know weatherspoons is cheap but to put this in front of someone and expect it to be eaten is just plain bad. Checking the cutlery is clean before handing out and cooking 2 eggs fresh and putting a couple of slices of toast in the toaster is not difficult. I suspect there is no quality control in the place, the staff are just left to their own devices.

took my son to this place and the food tastes literally just out plastic microwaved meals the safest things to go would be onion rings and chips and drinks, maybe a better venue for some drinks like a pub scene almost nor much for good food that isn't processed already or healthy for kids never been back this was 2018

Spoons just outside the Foot of The Walk tram stop. Not the greatest looking pub but the beer was good. More of local pub compared the others in Edinburgh

Quiet service speedy enough bit on cool side with extraction

16/12/23 Staff have really upped their game in the last few weeks. Tables are cleared quickly, everyone's super friendly etc. Well run 'spoons with some bargain prices. Oh, and the fish and chips are really good.

Even by wetherspoons standards this is low. It's the absolute dregs and you can smell the toilets from the opposite end of the bar (I wish that was an exaggeration)

Daniel, the manager is a really poor representative of Wetherspoons as a company. I've sent a complaint in regarding his conduct. Basically, this place is massively understaffed. I've sat and had three bottles whilst there was also empty glasses on my table. The second I went to the bathroom (and left my jacket/bag on the back of the chair) he cleared all of the glasses/bottles, including half a bottle of my current, and was going to be my last drink. Incredulous to this, I waited for Daniel to come back out, after he had served another diner, I politely enquired as to why he had removed my half-full drink. He was complete abrupt and told me I was lying. Not true, and not the conduct I'd expect of any person in a pub/bar, far less the manager. He had been wearing a bodycam, and I pointed out that would have probably recorded the truth...only to be told that (conveniently for him) it was only turned on for incidents, so hadn't been recording....where is the point of not having these turned on all the time?! So basically I decided to leave, calmly and without any fuss. I'm definitely not one to make a scene. I cannot believe the attitude this person had, and I won't be frequenting this establishment in the near future.

Appears to be somewhat of a shooting gallery for the local inconveniences judging by the nefarious types hanging in the toilets, which by the way smell like putrid, maggot ridden roadkill, the floors are sticky, but someone signed off to say its clean so..... Would give less than 1 star if possible. As for recommendations- I would recommend not going to this one.

Really buzzy boozer in a great location. Ordered the pizza which was pretty hideous as it arrived with an undercooked base and was soggy, so that was pretty disappointing. Other than that though no complaints. Staff friendly and service quick considering how busy it is.

Es el típico pub escocés donde te sirven comida. Un gran lugar para ir siendo tanto local, como turista. Además, los precios de las cervezas están mucho más baratos que en otros lugares. Merece la pena ir a cenar o beber aquí si estás por el barrio de Leith.

We never ever come back. The bad atmosphere just a start. I found a chips on my son’s plate which tasted like poo. I almost vomited 🤮 after I tasted. Possible we were a victim of a prank. The management only could said sorry.
