Fantastic place we thought, they were the last Friday of the month. Then there's live music there. Nice staff and very good drinks to choose from. Humane prices and very nice people. Don't be afraid to talk to someone, everyone is very nice. Knowledgeable bartenders ;) we don't know anything so can't say anything about the food. But are they as much love and atmosphere as inside the pub in the food. So they probably taste fantastic, I think.;) will easily visit this place again when we go there👍👍🏴󠁧󠁣󠁴󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁿

Very quiet. MAYBE due this place being a pub, whilst the barmaid thought that it was a lunch time disco where you couldn't hear yourself think, let alone converse. Prices were OK.

Un pub muy auténtico escocés. Con muy buena música. Y dirigido por dos mujeres super alegres y amables que aunque no las entendía muy bien. (Mi inglés es más standard British), que no escocés . Nos hicieron pasar un rato muy divertido. Tiran la cerveza 🍻 super profesional. En este caso ALMA DE MADRID. Así que si pasáis por Edimburgo no os lo podéis perder.

Well priced drinks. Friendly staff. Spotless ladies' toilets with supplies available - tampons, deodorant, tissues etc. Music too loud for easy conversation.

Has went downhill in recent times with staff unable/unwilling to control people sometimes.

Ogni domenica sera organizzano un quiz di cultura generale, dalle 20.30. Il problema è che in un pub, notoriamente, si beve, sicché i risultati sono immaginabili...

It's a convenient pub, very near where I live, but I do think the staff are kinda rude for no reason, it's not one of my favourite old man pubs but it's far from the worst in Edinburgh

I popped in for a pint on the way home after having a few pints elsewhere, only to be confronted by an aggressive barmaid who said I could only have one pint even though I was probably the most sober customer in there. Fine, no problem. Sat alone having a quiet pint and asking for another was refused with a smirk and a shake of a head, even though I was surrounded by drunks that were clearly more drunk than me. Staff ought to realise that they are overheads whereas customers are income. Hardly a shining example of how to run a pub. No loss to me - I can drink anywhere else where my custom is welcome.

My dog often drags me in as he gets fed treats by the bar staff and the locals. Very friendly, lovely people. Chewie loves it there and he encourages me to go in, so I'd might as well drink a beer so I'm happy.

Not sure what the name means. Came in for a quick drink one midweek evening. Reasonably priced drinks, pleasant service. Quite noisy but still pleasant atmosphere.

I like this pub. The bar staff are very nice, it’s has a cosy atmosphere and the cost of drinks don’t break the bank. It’s a pub where staff come and clear and wipe the tables, which can be a rare event when drinking in the town.

They have signs asking the clientèle to not sell drugs, not be sexist, not be racist, and for the men not to enter the ladies toilets. We were offered drugs. Still, it might be your kinda place.

One of the cheapest pubs in the South Side. Great atmosphere with toilet facilities upstairs and a disabled toilet downstairs. The staff are friendly, lots of tv screens for the sport. Good selection of beers and spirits and lots of seats.

Nice pub, comfy cushions on the seats. Good juke box. Staff are always very pleasant and the prices are lower than elsewhere Spoils it a bit for me that the past couple of times I have been here there have been a few very drunk elderly men generally being a nuisance and yelling rubbish

One employee says they have it but the manageress has already taken it and her customer service is lacking.

Como esta es una franquicia y hay una en nuestra ciudad natal, asumimos que el pub de Edimburgo permitiría a los niños. Si bien hubiera sido más que aceptarlo, si hubiéramos sido advertidos de una manera tranquila y educada, este no era el caso. La camarera nos gritó antes incluso de que hubiéramos abierto la puerta completamente. A juzgar por otros comentarios, parecen tener una reputación por su servicio al cliente.

Was here yesterday with the wife and a friend at about 11 15 am 15 th the lady behind the bar was very friendly .The bar prices were good for edinburgh .and let my friend the use of downstairs toilet thankyou

I used to drink here all the time when I was at university and I never had a bad word to say about the place. But the last couple of times I have went the staff have been incredibly rude. On both occasions I went with friends, one of the bar ladies came over to our table and told us "If you aren't going to order anything else then you'll have to leave." We were all still halfway through our drinks and hadn't been drinking for a long time (15 minutes at the most). When we did finish, she got more pushy and implied we'd been wasting time. I get that people who sit in a booth wasting time ordering nothing is a pain, but this was not the case on either occasion. If anything it sounds like she was trying to pressure us to buy booze. It's disappointing that I'm having to leave this review because I like Drouthies, but if this is to be a regular occurrence then I'm afraid I won't be visiting anymore.

Friendly local pub-- but not the type where you feel uncomfortable going if you rent a "regular". Great Sunday pub quiz, too! Bar snacks and (I think previously frozen) pizzas served as food options.

A little too "Old man pub" for me despite the reasonable decor and location. Improves later on in the evening when the "regulars" drift away. Decent enough prices for town. OK pub.

Pints were reasonably priced. Seating was a bit uncomfortable and there was a rammy going on while we were there. Need to pay the "Duke box" for music or else you just listen to the regulars fighting each other.

Had just bought a drink for the second half of the Champions League Final when we were chucked out because the pub was "over the limit of people". A few other groups were also told to leave even though they'd been in the pub for a fair while. Didn't make any sense, the pub wasn't too busy compared to others - at the Cask and Barrel up the road there was hardly any standing space, in Drouthy's there was still plenty. The staff were rude, slow and didn't offer to refund the drinks we'd just bought. Never going back here.

Awful experience, staff were unfriendly, accusatory and very rude. Will never go back. Tables are very small, not good for groups larger than four. The staff ruined our night.

Arrived here last night for drink to celebrate daughters 21st before restaurant meal both daughters immediatly asked for id by rather stroppy barmaid 18 yr old produced her id but 21 yr old didnt have hers with her although she was wearing a huge 21st badge but not good enough wouldnt even let me buy her a juice so just had to leave i guess thats the law but she could have been nicer about it have visited here before with both daughters without any problem very disapointed in attitude of barmaid

This pub was about 4 blocks from our B&B and it became "our" pub for the week we were in Edinburgh. They don't serve food, but they have awesome bartenders. Matt and Billy, especially, took time to give us insider tips about the city and sights to see.

Avoid this place. Bar maids are incredibly rude, terrible attitude, will not ever return. The incident happened a few weeks back on a Wednesday night, when we had reserved a booth for the evening. Utterly disappointed.

Fun board games friendly staff and cheap drinks

We had bailed out of a very noisy pub just up the road and this was a haven of peace. Also their prices are cheaper than most other local pubs so what's not to like?

Pretty standard bar decor & feel. You can get some nice beers, it's always been quiet when I've been in, so easy to get a table.

They have great prices and good beer. A very good Guinesss extra cold. The only thing is they close around midnight

This is a nice wee pub with plenty seating and a friendly welcome. The toilets are up the stairs so good to keep in mind if you are not good with stairs and also good to remember when you have had a bit too much to drink!

Will forever be one of my favorite pubs in Edinburgh. Great place to talk with friends and grab a pint (or several).

Very welcoming pub. The staff looked after us and even called a cab to ensure we got home OK, can't fault that as an ex-barmaid :-)
