Do not be expecting to get any empathy or compassion from this hotel in your hour of need… We had the unfortunate turn of events yesterday whilst visiting the Inversnaid part of the West Highland Way. We took the drive out for a memorable 40th Birthday Day walk and it really was - we aririved about half 2 and went a good walk and back to the car ready to set off home at half 4 (and in good time as the rain and wind came in and the weather turned for the worse) - we didn’t intend on going into the hotel until the car wouldn’t start and the battery was flat! We phoned the AA for help, but it was taking longer and longer for them to arrive. At this point my son (17) went into the hotel at half 5 to ask if he could purchase any snacks or drinks and was met by an abrupt “No” and “We have a coach full of people coming so…” and basically shooed him out the door. Which I understand they would be busy and he didn’t tell them our situation of being broken down (not that he had the chance to) About 7pm we were still waiting for the AA, we were told it was looking more likely to be nearer 9pm (they didn’t arrive until 20 to 11pm) so my partner and son went back into the hotel to see if we could have dinner there - my partner started off by saying we have been broken down with a flat battery since half 4 and waiting for the AA and could we possibly arrange a table for dinner - he was told abruptly “No, we are fully booked” he asked is there any chance we could buy anything to take away, a cup of tea, snacks, anything? The front of house went and asked his manager and he came back and said “No, we don’t have any cups” and turned them away. The lack of hospitality from this hotel and lack of any empathy and compassion for people who were stranded in a cold and wet car for over 5 hours is why I’m writing this review. If you find yourself in the same situation, do not expect any help from this hotel.

The Inversnaid Hotel is in a fabulous location overlooking Loch Lomond and, with a waterfall at the side and woodland footpaths going in three directions, it is a great area to visit. We had just been to Stronachlachar but, as the lovely cafe there was closed, we came here for coffee. On a lovely sunny day it was a delight to sit at one of the picnic benches outside the hotel and take in the glorious views. We ordered our coffee at the bar and it was basically self service. It came in rather small cups, so didn’t quite satisfy, but it was tasty enough. As we didn’t use any of the other hotel facilities, the marking of the review essentially reflects the hotel’s location.

We were on a wee bit of a nostalgia trip as we had spent 2 days of our honeymoon here way back in 1984. We thought we would have a nice lunch and enjoy the views. Front door notice says no walkers, only residents and the side door notice says for walkers only. Anyway, went in the walkers door only to met by signs saying no residents beyond this point at every turn. I asked a member of staff about lunch and he directed me to the bar. Soup, sandwiches, chips and cakes were the only food available. I ordered 2 lentil soups and 2 sandwiches. We sat outside as the only indoor seating was bench tables and we were not allowed to access anywhere else. Staff were pleasant enough. Food arrived the soup was inedible and cold and had a burnt taste to it and the sandwiches were stale. i know a lot if walkers use this place for food and i get that but if you want a nice lunch forget it. Very disappointed in the Inversnaid Hotel but the scenery was as beautiful as i remembered it x

After some challenging days on my hike along The West Highland Way, I want a little luxury. So I put my backpack and the hiking boots outside the wander room. Went into the reception and talked to the sweet and friendly receptionist. Booked an overnight stay with 3-course dinner and breakfast. Return to my gear, and went up to the first floor and closed me into the beautiful room. Made me a cup of coffee, and packed my stuff out of my backpack. Took a nice bath before heading down to dinner. It was a lovely experience in a cozy atmosphere, and other smiling guests. Friendly, polite and knowledgeable staff who served the dishes I had decided. The Appetizer was a lovely creamy vegetable soup with bread. The Main Curse was : Pepper roasted mackerel fillets served nicely on the plate with dressing, and finely chopped red cabbage, potato croquette, and fresh small potatoes, carrots alongside. The House's good wine . The breakfast for me was the nice traditional one.

This hotel is located on the most spectacular location. The hotel is positively beautiful and the grounds are really special. We were traveling the day that we stopped into the hotel, so we only had lunch and drinks in their lounge bar. The bar area is small but it opens right onto their lounge area. If you like, you can eat outside on their patio. You can order drinks and just enjoy that as you gaze at the lake beyond or you can order food and enjoy a meal. We had lunch while seated at the rear glass doors- it was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and yet professional. Our tuna sandwich, which we split, was super and they split it for us and served it as two separate portions…much appreciated. Although we did not stay in this hotel, I would definitely go back if I was able and spend several days just relaxing. As for things to do…the web site details all the hikes that are in the area. Wonderful place.

Et les frites en accompagnement étaient dans le ton, médiocres. Bref, j'ai rarement été aussi déçu par un plat au Royaume-Uni !Cidre Somersby à la pression (1,70 £ la demie-pinte) : doux et sucré.

I took the high road and landed on the bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomond. The Inversnaid Hotel is on the east side of the loch, and can be reached by launch from the west bank or, as we did, take the beautiful scenic drive through the Trossachs national park. The views were magnificent. We stopped in at the hotel for tea and scones. Unfortunately high tea wasn't on offer. This little hotel at the end of the road was well worth a visit.

Tried to write the review as a restaurant but it only seems to feature as a hotel. The hotel does food for non residents and there was a steady stream of walkers and boat trade too. We came on the boat from Luss and enjoyed some good walks, with our nearly 1 year old in tow. This was the only place to get food (and we'd been assured before we left it was fine to eat here rather than bring food with us) and by about 1pm there was a queue about 8 deep to order food from the bar.

Firstly we were told that the hotel was under reconstruction and couldn't accommodate 9 people which is ridiculous taking in count the size of this place! Half of the group stayed in the hotel (including us) and other half stayed in the bunkhouse up the hill. We were 10 min late for breakfast and practically had to beg for a coffee and toast. We stopped in for lunch on our third day of walking the WHW. coming in off the trail we were awed by the beautiful falls right next to the hotel. It was really stunning. It's nice that the hotel restaurant welcomes walkers and allows one to store one's gear in the hallway. Our timing was perfect because, just as we got in the door, the heavens opened up in a torrential downpour. We had a hearty soup for lunch and took off again, just as the storm passed. It was a quick stop on the trail, but it made for a nice mid-day break.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Inversnaid Hotel in 2002 and found ourselves there at lunchtime on an excursion from another Lochs and Glens hotel. I ordered sandwiches and a bowl of chips, which were tasty and arrived in good time. When I returned to the bar to buy drinks (regrettably there are no cask ales) I was told that there was a soup and sandwich special for our excursion party that the front-of-house staff should have told us about. I later mentioned it to our tour driver, who was completely unaware of the deal. Since the hotels are part of the same group it calls for a bit of joined-up thinking!

We stopped here for lunch on day three of the West Highland Way. We ate in the walker's bar which was dark, windowless and a bit dingy. The décor was bland and dated and there was no atmosphere at all. Indeed, it was a strange mix of walkers and busloads of pensioners. We ordered lentil soup and cheese and tomato sandwiches - both of which were surprisingly tasty (although, after a morning's walking, we probably would have eaten anything at that point); all washed down with a pint (not a great selection on draft it must be said). I passed by this hotel 11 years ago whilst doing the west highland way and was made to feel as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. However after 11 years I decided to give it a whirl again this time on my walk from Rowardenan to Inverarnan. I entered via the "walkers entrance" which felt akin to the "coloured" signs of 1950's America, I was directed into the empty bar and given a very limited bar menu of processed cafe food, however not long after arrival a coach load of geriatric tartan tourists arrived and they appeared to be offered a different menu from the one I had and I was in no doubt that they were the desired clientele. That said my chicken burger was okay and the compliment of Eastern European staff were polite, if not that attentive. These places couldn't give two tosses for passing trade, they are only interested in well heeled geriatric Americans with their expensive brand of Brigadoon tacky tartan. At the time I couldn't help think that the hotel and staff resembled a sketch from Faulty Towers and it's funny that other reviewers thought the same :)I very much doubt that I'll be rushing back.

Stopped off here whilst walking on the West Highland Way looking for some basic refreshments, but greeted by a scruffy looking lounge (admittedly for walkers) unhelpful staff and some of the worst food served since 1982. My advice to future WHW walkers is take a pack lunch, sit outside and enjoy the view.

the food was of a good quality, and we were offered a good selection,if there was something on a set meal that you didn't want it was substituted with another item of your choice

Super place to stop for lunch on the West Highland Way, simple lunches at a reasonable price, dog friendly and very helpful staff.

Outside looks nice and good location on the pier to pick up the boat but inside was terrible. Absolutely full to the brim of noisy tourists running around, no organisation, massive toilet queues and a complicated lay out.We didn't stay here, just a stop off for a coffee but the bar area was very dull, dark and smelly. Considering the location of the hotel it would have been nice to have had a bar area with a view instead of being stuck inside that claustrophobic room! reception was large and okay but Bunkhouse is better!!Staff were rude too, brought a group of asian students to the hotel who struggled with their English, caught the staff rolling their eyes and cursing under their breath. Won't be visiting here again.

Lovely restaurant, great choice of food and superb service. Nothing is too much trouble and if there is anything missing they will try to get if for you, like honey for my porridge! I also didn't like the wine I had chosen so I was given another choice and not charged for the first bottle. The restaurant looks very welcoming and the tables are beautifully laid out. Would highly recommend.

We arrived half an hour after the kitchen had finished serving evening meals but the lovley staff took pity on our wasted bodies and asked if we could wait half an hour and then the kitchen would rustle us up our meals........and they were 'LICIOUS. Nice and traditional (touristy) environment and walkers were made to feel very welcome. Just a quick meal and carry on walking but none-the-less enough time spent to say it was tops.

Limited menu in hotel. Food quite good but vegs overcooked for my taste. Didn't seem like large portions but I never left the table hungry

They have an apart room for walkers. We ordered the soup and it was ok. There is nothing there, so everybody has to be there to have a refreshment. The staff was friendly and it was ok. Nothing fancy and not really a lot of choice.

Had the misfortune of having lunch there yesterday. I ordered (allegedly) cod and chips. Well if you like frozen fish from a box then this is the place for you. It`s not exactly in the middle of the desert so I at least expected the fish to be freshly battered on the premises, but this was the cheap pre-packed rubbish. Not even sure it was cod, more like coley. My wife had a bone-dry chicken burger. No butter, no mayo, no salad on the bun. Nothing but a dry burger. Was gonna give this 2 stars but gave it really what it deserved. Best to eat in Aberfoyle if you can. Avoid this place.

Passed through this establishment on a few occasions, but always find the staff discurteous and the food appalling. I even had a lunch served on polystyrene dishes at one time!It could be lovely, but sadly the place needs completely overhauled - staffing wise anyway!

Tasty and generous meals in a comfortable, traditional setting. Friendly staff and seemed to be well used by the local community.

A self serve café within the grounds of Stirling Castle, offering takeaway or sit-in opportunities. There are plenty of snack options, including a Kid’s Box at £6 which provides a choice of sandwiches, a treat, a piece of fruit and a drink. There are plenty of sandwiches and paninis for adults too and several hot dishes to choose from on display. In our experience there were plenty of staff on duty and the constant queue at the time was kept moving fairly quickly. We found a table in an area with vaulted ceilings, reminiscent of the Castle Kitchens, which added to the ambiance. The grandchildren had Kid’s Boxes, my wife and I had paninis which had tasty fillings, and we also had Americano coffees. The coffee was good enough to warrant a second cup for my wife and I along with a slice of lemon drizzle cake and a scone with cream and jam. All the food and drinks were good and the overall cost was just under £49 allowing for 10% discount as members of Historic Scotland. Toilets were clean but very compact for the size of the premises.
