Spent the last two days with suspected food poisoning after eating a takeaway from here for dinner on Saturday night. Both my partner and I have been very ill with vomiting and extremely upset stomachs. Cannot recommend

I have ordered from Dinos several times now since moving to the area. Always first class food and friendly staff. I recommend popping in and ordering where possible as saves on any possible delays.

For many tears this particular Fried Fish and Chip shop has been a field leader. Friendly staff and consistently good foods make this an easy one to recommend.

Great chip shop, really good menu, lovely staff. Highly recommended. We go there often. Easy to get to from Edinburgh City bypass (6 or 7 mins) - come off at Straiton junction and head into Loanhead. The chip shop is half way down Clerk Street...

5 star collection for a takeaway. 1 star for a delivery. Made to feel like an important customer when you collect. However 1:40 on a mid week night for a delivery is not good enough. Was told at 55 min that it was cooking and...

Well unfortunately the one take away that could do decent chips is no more. What a shame both suppers in the bin, undercooked chips undercooked white pudding. Really poor.

I order food from Dinos frequently having moved to the area two years ago. The food is always decent and tastes nice, a tad overpriced but that’s just my opinion.

3 delivery's we have had since 18th of December. 95 pound we have spent. First one was good. Other 2 absolutely atrocious. 1 hour and 30 mins waiting time. I phoned up to complain because food was cold. We are less than 2 miles down the road. Managers reaction to my complaint was " i think your being spiteful". Another disgrace as we're spending hard earned money on there food and it isn't good enough. Best menu in penicuick worst delivery service and quality of food!!! Re think before ordering from here

Changed my review, We decided to go to Justinlees for a Sunday roast to celebrate our anniversary. It seemed like the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a nice meal with my wife and in-laws. But from the moment we looked at the menu, things started going downhill. They had no beef. No turkey. So that ruled out the traditional Sunday roast options entirely—which is the whole reason we chose to go there in the first place. I asked if I could just have a steak instead. No luck—no steak either, which also meant the mixed grill was off the table. One by one, all the alternatives I could actually eat disappeared. I have a gluten intolerance, so I’m already limited when it comes to restaurant menus. Without the roast, steak, or mixed grill, there was virtually nothing else suitable for me. The server tried to be polite, but at that point, there really weren’t any options left. So I just sat there. On our anniversary. Watching my wife and in-laws enjoy their meals while I had nothing. No meal. No celebration. Just frustration and disappointment. It was an occasion meant to be special, and instead, it felt like I was completely overlooked.

There have been many changes since we last visited Whitmuir pre-pandemic. The farm food shop has gone and has been replaced by Junkshop Antiques (which used to operate from smaller premises on the site); The Dancing Light gallery apparently moved online some time ago and the vacant unit they previously occupied was due to be re-launched as a (Christmas) shop when we were there in November 2022. The café looks the same as before (minus the gallery’s paintings) but opened again under new ownership in September 2022 and now trades simply as Whitmuir Cafe. I’m glad to see the log burner remains in place as it is needed to try to keep this cavernous place warm at this time of year. Quercus Garden Plants still operate on the site however when we visited garden plants were not something we were looking to explore. At the time of our lunch visit there was a slow, steady flow of customers but these are large premises to fill so it lacked atmosphere. The menu choice is modest and we ordered up their Toastie of the Day, which was ham and cheese, served with house salad and dressing £6.95). My wife’s request to replace the sourdough bread with brown bread was met. I ordered a Bagel with chicken & lemon mayonnaise, also served with house salad and dressing (£6.25). We both enjoyed our lunch - the chicken was plentiful and tasty with the mayo, the toastie filling good quality and we both rated the house salad and dressing very highly. The only criticism was that the cutlery knives seemed blunt. The coffee we had along with the food was very good - Flat white (£2.95) and Americano (£2.60) - so we ordered another to go along with the home bakes both of which happened to be gluten free. My wife requested the smaller of the large looking slices of Treacle and Lemon tart on display, which turned out to be wise since she was unable to finish it; and I had an Almond slice which I too was unable to finish. Verdict on the cakes was “okay” however we have only rarely found a gluten free cake which we could say we really enjoyed so that is probably just our taste. Overall cost of lunch was just over £29 which we thought was good value. Staff were friendly and efficient. It’s early days for the revised format and not as attractive an overall destination for us however we wish them well. Check opening hours if travelling - seems to be Wednesday to Sunday, 10.00am until 4.00pm at present.

This was a disappointing visit. The previous occasions we have been staff have been attentive, helpful and chatty. The young girl who took our food order was lovely but the lad behind the bar was a bit surly. Had to wait to be seated in near empty restaurant, had to wait whilst he faffed about with an ornament to answer a question and weren't asked if we wanted more drinks. We were seated next to quiz in near empty restaurant. Perhaps should have been asked if that was okay but instead we had to ask to move seats when quiz started. Overall a very different experience from what we've had before. Hopefully just a one off and with that one member of staff. Food was also slightly disappointing but that could have been the choice. We've visited quite a few times but this was a very different experience to others.
