Lovely friendly owners, very good food. Will definitely be back. Am motorhome to & were able to overnight free because we bought a meal.

Acknowledged at the front door as soon as we entered, shown to our seats and handed menus. Asked if we would like to order drinks which we did and then order taken for our meals. Slight delay on the drinks for some reason and didn’t come till just before our meals. Meals arrived very quickly and as per usual very lovely. Staff were very attentive. Will definitely be back

Super friendly pub. Great menu choice and attentive staff. Can absolutely recommend. Great if you want a pub stopover in a campervan too. Try this pub if you're travelling to Edinburgh as a pit stop it's well worth it. Nice little play area for kids too

We ate our evening meal here, and the food was good and the staff are lovely. We were allowed to stay overnight in their carpark in our motorhome whilst on our way to the Highlands.

The food was served fresh and hot not a long wait, the starters were promptly served possibly could have been a little more generous. one plate was a little less generous on the chips and it would be nice to have option of the chunky chips rather than just fries with the burger as the chunky chips were very tasty. staff were courteous and polite, could do with a few more adult choices of non-alcoholic cocktails

nice welcome on arrival. Pleasant surroundings, not too noisy. Attentive staff, and very patient as I was tired and being very ditsy! We didn't feel rushed and were able to just sit and natter even after we had finished our meal

Having visited the Old Colliery in our camper, we would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

We enjoy coming here for Sunday dinner. We were served by Andrea, she is so pleasant and very accommodating. We do not have big appetites, but it is no problem to serve us the children's roast dinner. It is great value for money as blue light discount is taken off the food.

Stayed in our campervan on the car park free of charge. Had lunch and drinks in the pub. Super friendly and helpful. Next to park and ride or £17 in an Uber to Central Edinburgh

Warm welcome, helpful staff, good food well worth a visit.

Just what you expect from a family pub. It was pretty quiet so can't vouch for it when it's busy however fodd was super quick and very good. Staff were lovely and the pub was clean. Didn't have vanilla ice cream for dessert but they happily swapped for a different flavour. Would recommend for a family visit.

We were also in Edinburgh at a very busy time on our tour of England. We decided to park outside and take the bus into town. We also spent the night in the parking lot and had a very nice time in this restaurant. The staff are really very friendly. The food is also super tasty and you immediately feel welcome. Very accommodating and helpful. We were also allowed to use the toilet after the visit. Thank you. Can really recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nice shop, good food, super nice operator/service. We were in Edinburgh with the motorhome and the operator had no problem with us staying overnight in the parking lot. Bus stop right in front of the door, you can get to the center in 40 minutes for 2 pounds without changing on line 33. It couldn't be better or cheaper. So eat there and then take a tour of the city!!!!

Come here every week, Andrea is brilliant, bringing great banter with your meal. The deals are worth the price. It's also dog friendly.

Very small portions for the prices, but food is good.

Firstly, I was overcharged for my drink. I showed the person behind the bar and she rectified the problem. My point is that I might not have spotted it which would not have been good! Also, when you buy a double spirit at the bar you are charged for 2 singles when on your table service app you can buy a double spirit for 35p less! I only saw this after purchasing 2 doubles at the bar and I was left 70p out of pocket and was not offered a refund. And lastly, to charge £1.90 for a dash if diet pepsi is daylight robbery!!! All in all a very expensive visit!!

Top experience from the time I entered to the time I left

We stopped over in our campervan and were welcomed by the lovely friendly staff, Aimee and Annie. We were given a table where we could watch football (it was during the Euros) and our wee dog was given treats and water. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. All in all, a great place to stop on the way to the coast.

Popped in for a last minute Sunday lunch which certainly did not disappoint. Great service from Sam and the team. Cracking play area for young kids which our granddaughter really enjoyed. Will return in the future.

As always very good visit the boss was great. The girls brillant. Dog menu excellent. Meals very nice the 30 percent off main meals especially during these hard times very welcome .water also provided for dogs nice touch .

As a family we all enjoyed our meal tonight. Service was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Good choice of food and drink. Good value.

We had a birthday meal here. The service really is superb. Coming from a hospitality background, I felt very well cared for. Nicely done. Food was perfect and top marks for the presentation and flavour of desserts. Thanks guys.

There were 7 of us including a 1 year old. One of us had soup and it was tepid. The steak I had was very fatty and ended up being taken home to the dog. My son's steak should have been medium rare and it was well done, most of that went home to the dog. My Mum ordered a hot dog with crispy onions, when it arrived there were no onions. I asked if she could have some brought to the table. The server came back and told us there were none left!! Not even offered something else. Most of that was left too. Won't be back, waste of money.

Good value for money as we were using a discount voucher. Clean ,well laid out restaurant/bar. Just wish there had been option to sit away from football screen..husband had no such complaints!

We love this place. Andrea is so friendly and her customer service is top notch.

Huge compliments to the chef. Had pizza for the first time here. We are just back from Italy and I have to say this pizza beat a pizza I had in Italy from a highly recommend restaurant. The dough was just right, sauce on point and mozzarella how it should be, 9/10 cos nothings perfect. Will absolutely be trying more. Food is always good here but I have my favourite dish now. Come here quite a lot and always trying something new.

I never do these but I feel I had too, We came into your establishment on Friday 28th June it was very busy, we got seated straight away. The manager cath I think I caught her name right was absolutely tremendous, there was only her and a heavily pregnant girl and another lady. Cath was taking orders getting the door and seating people and also going on the bar too , I did say to her how do you do it all she was amazing and an asset to Marston’s!! Definitely will be back.

Staff looked like they couldn't be bothered and weren't wanting to be there .ordered three starters the girl forgot to write down the order another member of staff apologised then put order through no barbeque sauce or lettuce as stated on menu .last starter that wasn't even finished when they wanted to bring out the mains .food wasn't hot and carrots undercooked.staff laughing at the bar then realised customer still there .dish that the last starter was served in was damaged at the side and shouldn't have been used for health and hygiene reasons .toilets the door couldn't be locked toilet paper on floor and radiator all rusty . certainly wouldn't recommend previously been but won't be back .

Group of 15 a mix of adults and kids, food was good - particularly the burgers! So handy having the park and indoor play area to keep the kids entertained between courses. Andrea was lovely serving us and helpful sorting the bill between 4 families!

Popped in for quick lunch on Friday Restaurant busy but we managed to get a seat ok Served in 5 min And food came very quick as we explained we only had a short time to eat Excellent service food lovely and hot will def be back. Well done

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food however (Sunday lunch) was not great. More gristle than beef. Good play area for kids and very clean. Overall not bad just avoid the beef lol

We came here after it was recommended on a campervan site, we arrived about 10.30 parked up, went in at 11 to be greeted by Sam, he gave us a leaflet with information on which was really useful! Once we got drinks he came over and chatted to us asked if we needed our water topping up which we was very grateful for! We spent the day in Edinburgh then came back and had some beautiful food, they homemade cheesy doughballs were amazing!! Would highly recommend this lovely friendly pub, was q sunny night and lots of children were happily playing on the little park! Great place.

Just been with my Husband Sister inLaw and Grandson. Service was excellent from entering to leaving. Jamie was the lad that served us and his manners and attention were commendable. Have not been for a while so it was nice to see standards had not dropped. Definitely make a point of going more often now Especially as our food was plentiful. Tasty and hot

Took my mum there for her 84 th birthday today and she had a lovely meal . Andrea was brilliant as she gave us excellent service , care and attention. We had a birthday cake and Andrea put candles on it and herself and other staff sang happy birthday to my mum making it a very special memorable day for her . We will be back . Thank you .

Great stopover in our Motorhome Great service, nice staff and food Park and ride into the city nearby

Stayed over for two nights in our Motorhome. Fabulous place and the food was delicious. Great stop over if you want to visit Edinburgh, as park and ride less the 5 mins walk. A big thank you to Andrea who looked after us on Friday evening and provided an excellent service, and to Alex too who afforded us the same on Saturday evening. Will definitely use again.

Haven't been here for a while it's a nice place, food was nice, didn't have long to wait to get shown to a table. They have different offers on each day of the week.

From initial enquiry we were made to feel really welcome with nothing being too much trouble. All staff (especially Alex) were friendly and the venue was immaculately clean. Service was quick at both the bar and food. Highly recommend to all.

Great food Service - ok Atmosphere - not a lot!

Lovely place, staff very helpful, food ok, but why do they have to have a pool table bang in the middle of the dining area. Surely this can be put in a more secluded space away from People trying to eat. It is anoying !!

Visited the old Colliery for an overnight stay in motorhome, good service excellent fish and chips and very welcoming for our dog👍

Old Colliery was listed on a local Google search of places to eat yesterday as we had a spare hour. Surprising amount of veggie options on their menu and we weren't disappointed. Food was OK and table service by Andrea was excellent.

We had a 2-night stop here with our motorhome and enjoyed a nice diner both nights! Very quiet at night, lovely team, we gladly recommand this place!

Don’t come here! I came here yesterday with my daughter and friends and my friend got rushed to hospital with severe food poisoning.

Came for mother's day, party of four. We all agreed the service was great, the food was lovely, the atmosphere was good. The only let down was the portion size for the price. Quite small, and not great value. We would absolutely go back and maybe choose something else from the menu.

Parked up here in a van for 2 night, went into Edinburgh on the Park and Ride from across the road, made to feel very welcome!

We come from Cumbria and we're visiting Edinburgh in our motorhome, we booked to park up in the carpark, the staff were fantastic,very welcoming, they gave us a leaflet with the bus details to get into Edinburgh and back again, even check time's for us, we are in the pub Friday and Saturday the food was great on both nights as was the service. We had a fantastic day in Edinburgh visiting the castle and other areas all made better because we had a great safe, quite park up at the old colliery. A huge thank you to all the staff .

We booked a table for lunch and arrived a wee bit early but it was not a problem. We were shown our table by a very helpful lady, unfortunately I didn't catch her name. Our order was taken for drinks then food. Drinks arrived first then the food which was fresh and hot. All in all a lovely lunch and we will be back.

We had a great visit here, when we called in en route to the National Mining Museum at Newtogrange the following morning. The pub was easy to find, and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, including providing information about access to Edinburgh and other local attractions. Good selection of standard pub food served promptly and with care, accompanied by a crystal clear pint, or two, of Pedigree by attentive staff. As the management allowed it, we spent a quiet overnight stay in the car park in our motorhome. Many thanks to Andrea, our server, and the two lads..sorry we didn't catch your names.

We booked at 7.45pm, we arrived at 8.10pm and they told us they closed the kitchen at 8pm. We were with 3 children. Don't take reservations if close after 15 minutes!!

I went out with my family and friends today for my nieces birthday, the food was great, the service was amazing, and the place was nice and chill, we were served by Andrea today and she done such a great job 10/10 for her.

We are Motorhomers staying for 2 nights while visiting Edinburgh. Phoned for permission 10 days beforehand and booked a table for the first night. Staff were good natured, friendly, helpful and welcoming when we called in on arrival. Our dinner again was excellent and dispatched with relish and once again staff were helpful and friendly enquiring as to allergies or health concerns and when appraised of same pointed out alternatives and items to avoid. Altogether a pleasant interlude in our holiday made special by the treatment received.

Had a very nice experience good food and good company. Aimee was our server and the table couldn't have been happier with the service.
