Booked a table last minute for 3 people the staff were friendly from the minute we walked in till we left and the Food was nice large portions aswell. They also have a kids menu

Went for family meal last night . Was told beforehand that they were short staffed so there maybe a wait for food . Service was excellent. Food was very tasty and reasonable priced . Very relaxed atmosphere . The young male waiter who served us was very attentive and super polite . Look forward to visiting again .

Great food, at a good price and very nice service. Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. 2 courses of your choice for 18 pounds. We were lucky to find such a great restaurant in little Gorebridge.

it is very sad news to hear that this first class restaurant is up for sale I have been going there for years regular for lunches also parties special days out and the way they treat the pensioners with good price for a lovely meal it makes an awful difference ,also the staff deserve a lot of praise all so pleasant and helpful to make sure you are getting exactly what you want hopefully who takes over will keep the staff and keep this restaurant running as it is now and hopefully not turn it in to one of these awful take away places I am going to miss it as many as my friends will too all the best to the staff .

shame to say gone downhill food wise, Luke warm food, had a wait for the main even though other tables served before us . unless it's deep fried it's not warm. veg hard and cold, plates cold, no dietary questions asked either . maybe too many things on menu so kitchen can no longer cope.. not like it used to be unfortunately and the conservatory is freezing, thankfully a radiator was nearby and I turned it on

First time there. Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good selection of meals which were nicely presented and obviously freshly cooked.

Homely meals served in a conservatory. What's not to love. It's like being at your grans house with a full menu of British classics and friendly waiters to serve all your meals. I had a chicken Rob Roy which was delicious. The chicken was perfect with my only issue being that the Haggis wasn't the best but it didn't detract from the meal, I still had a lovely time. Priced reasonable too although I have heard rumours the portion size has decreased after feedback that it was too big! I left satisfied. The sorbet was stunning too!

Party of 20 people, Not one person had a complaint about the food as you would expect atleast one but absolutely spot on. Top service 👌 really made the day special.

Excellent quality food with 1st Class Service

Went here for a family celebration, a lot of items on their menu were out of stock and service was very slow. Took almost an hour for our mains to arrive but food was delicious and the staff were apologetic for the wait.

My haggis fritters were delicious. The meat in my steak pie was equally as delicious however the puff pasty was dry and tasteless. I have also had better chips Overall always enjoy going to the 'Corrie'

Food was good, large portions and tasty for a pretty reasonable price. Service was mediocre on this occasion, but there was a wedding party in the a large area of the restaurant.

Disappointing. Chose pancakes with chicken and mushroom filling. Pancakes were thick and slimy, there was a thick layer of just melted cheese on top - a heavy, soggy mess. Desserts overpriced so didn’t bother.

Was there Sunday 20/8/2023 orderd coronation mixed grill .no liver or steak didn't even say anything but on menu . All I can say is cheap food at big prices wife got sunday roas beef it was like boil in the bag beef gravy was like water .won't be back .

Really nice staff and service, and really really good food. Had the steak pie and sticky toffee pudding and it was an absolute joy.

Ordered a burger which very dry and looked reheated. Complained and after declining another was charged full price on leaving. Manageress felt because we were offered another it was acceptable to charge for the half eaten food, poor management. Bill was £50. That burger was never cooked from scratch it was awful. Chef should have come straight out didn’t even look at the food. Avoid !!

Come here regularly and always enjoy what I have and keep bringing friends and family see you soon my favourite place.

Can't do more than 3 stars. Food was OK if a little on the pricy side. The pie pastry was really nice, not sure if it was made in house though. Environment OK and warm enough - which was nice bearing in mind how cold it was outside. Staff were a bit on the slow side and inattentive. If they dropped the prices a bit and got in some seasoned waiting staff the place would be a magnet.

Friendly staff and excellent service and value for money

We went out for Mothers Day with my daughter, niece, sister and mum and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. I am fully aware that Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for businesses like this so we were all very understanding. It was clear from the minute we walked in the waitresses were run off their feet. However, what is not acceptable is staff muttering under their breath “f*ck sake”, stomping around in one big massive mood. I was so shocked, we all looked at each other in disbelief. We waited 35 mins before being seated, not even an apology for the wait. Said woman then stomped back through to the bar area and shouted at a young member of staff in front everyone, totally embarrassing the girl about chairs going in a cupboard. I found her extremely unprofessional and rude. Not only to customers but to her own staff. We almost complained to the manager but we later found out she was the manager!! (Michelle) Thankfully the food served was lovely, it was a set menu at £27 a head, we still left a good tip as the young girl serving us was an absolute delight. You won’t keep staff speaking to them the way you did today. Absolutely Appalling.

I booked a table for 8 people for my mum's 70th birthday for a meal and I wasn't disappointed. Friendly attentive staff and the interior of the restaurant was lovely with a nice ambience..A good menu with lots of choice and a good wine list. Very generous portion sizes and beautifully presented. The waitress (young blonde girl) was just fantastic, very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much. The prices were good and the quality of the food was good too. We will be definitely returning for family meals.

We as family booked Christmas Day lunch. Wonderful meal. Served quickly with a smile. Our favourite restaurant in Midlothian. Highly recommended traditional food . Booking advised.

Went here for dinner with the family last week. We’ve been here a few times. It’s never been my favourite tbh but our last visit confirmed that we won’t be back unless they change things up. The waitresses were all very polite and smiley but the overall service was quite slow, especially when waiting for desserts. The pints of beer were disappointing. My father in-law even asked for another pint because it was flat. My starters (fried mushrooms and fried Brie) were nice enough but mains were poor. I had the coronation crepe which sounded nice but the chicken inside seemed very processed and not very fresh. I asked with garlic bread but they gave me chips. They admitted their error and gave me garlic bread. My chocolate cake for dessert was drowned in chocolate sauce which was far too much. Others in the party didn’t particularly enjoy their meal either although there were a few that did like theirs. One of the waitresses accidentally dropped a knife on me whilst collecting dishes. Tartare sauce wasn’t provided with my mother in-laws meal (which it was meant to). The vegetables looked like the ones you got in school dinners. Overall, the restaurant could do with a wee change up. The restaurant is clean and looks nice but the menu hasn’t changed in about 15 years. The meals are always bog standard or poor.

First time here for us but my Mum has been going for years. Food it really good, surroundings are great and to be honest I can't fault the service! The young guys were polite, explained thd menu and it was a lovely afternoon. It was my Mums Birthady, so pleased she enjoyed it. Nice!

We were a party of 11 and not any complaints about the food which is remarkable considering size of our party. Highly recommend this restaurant

The Coronation is a restaurant in a small town called Gorebridge South of Edinburgh. What a gem - great food at reasonable prices, lovely, comfortable surroundings especially in the 'conservatory'. Service was excellent, friendly young waitresses and the manager was very attentive. Stayed in the town a week and went there twice. Can recommend their 'special' crepe and the starter mussels were super yummy

Visited this evening to celebrate my inlaws 67th wedding anniversary. We have been here before, but a few years ago. Delighted to see that the experience had not changed and was even better than previously. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner, excellent service and overall a lovely evening. Thank you , we will be back !!

Most disappointing meal I’ve had in a long time - mussels - 2 were closed first 8-10 shells were empty then the £26 highlander steak arrived - sounded lovely on the menu- what arrived was far from lovely!! Not worth £10 never mind £26!!Sorry but if you’re going to charge that price there needs to be some attempt at presentation- not tinned veg!! Prawn salad- handful of cheap value prawns! The barman was really apologetic- agreed and removed the steak from our bill which we appreciated as we didn’t have time to reorder food.

First time today for lunch testing it out before we move to Gorebridge. Service was first class, quick without being hurried, friendly and the food was lovely we are already planning our next visit

Service was terrible, we were a large party of 19 that prebooked for our Mom's 79th. Got 1st drink, not offered any further drinks, one main was brought out while they were still eating starters and the rest arrived 20 minutes later. Very expensive for the quality of food - sorry.

Had a Christmas meal out with friends today. My first visit and I will be returning! The food was lovely and the company lovelier! The restaurant was busy, but not overwhelming. The portions were generous, so if you're planning to eat, I'd fast the day before!! Thank you to the staff for their friendliness and efficiency!

Very nice visit , staff were very attentive and efficient, we had our meal in the conservatory dining area , the food was really nice and presented well , the waitress also made sure any condiments or sauces were made available, altogether a very pleasant lunch , thankyou .

We had dinner last night with friends who live in Gorebridge. Have to say we couldn't fault anything! Food was delicious staff extremely helpful! Toilets pristine! Thank you so much! If I could make one negative draught lemonade not great! And no options! Maybe sell cans or bottles.

The service here is second to none, the homemade food is excellent, the puddings out this world. 3 courses for under £25:00 cheap as chips. Keep up the great work guys.
