Friendly staff, excellent food and service

Half of the chips were undercooked, definitely not edible.. What a disappointment. It isn't getting any better unfortunately.

Great service and cooked to order. Reasonably priced too. Always a stop on my Penicuik journeys. The White pudding is possibly the best in the area.

I wish the owners would look and listen to the reviews, this place is getting worse, horrible greasy ( not hot) chips with a strange taste!!! £6 for a sausage supper, would not mind if it was good, but ended up in the bucket. Why has Penicuik not got a decent chippy??

Had a half fish supper, fish was fine chips were absolutely rotton and for the price so so so disappointing. Over £7 a 'half' fish and disgusting chips. I rarely leave reviews but I just had to leave a review as it was awful. Would not recommend.

Bought what was supposed to be a donner wrap bread wasn't even around the meat looks like yesterday's rehearsal food garbage fish and King rib last week aswell just about managed to eat it won't be back

Decent chippy, when the food is fresh. When it's delivered its hit or miss.

Probably the worst fritters I've ever been served in my life. Soaking with oil, burnt, bland and falling apart. Avoid and go to The Penny Cook 2 mins walk away.

Got to agree with others on this. Really poor. Surly teenage staff, expensive, poor quality and "haddock" must be a brand of reconstituted tilapia. 16000 folk in this town and IT IS SCREAMING FOR A PROPER CHIPPY. It is not rocket science running a good chippy. FRESH HADDOCK+FRESHLY COOKED=WINNER served with a smile(costs nothing) honestly it is that blooming easy. Ask any award winning chippy and "FRESH" is the key ingredient for success.

Really hit or miss, had some decent enough (though not at all outstanding) fish & chips from here, but after the one we had two weeks ago we'll not be bothering again. Haddock supper was definitely not haddock, it was dry, mushy, and the batter was soggy and wet. At the price of a fish supper these days it should at least be edible.

Edit: after the reply i must say brilliant reply and response time. Ordered at 8:21 for it to be cancelled 20 minutes later, now having to wait 3 days for a refund, if timing is bad there is ways to state it online. Also ignoring calls after the fact us also just rude when the closing time is 9:45pm

absolutely disgusting waited 1 hour and 25 minutes I rang up asked were my order was and got told a rang back and cancelled this place is an absolute dive never order from this place needs closed down staff called me a lier over the phone

Tonight my partner ordered 2 burgers one quarter pounder and one donner burger, only one shows up also missing salad and sauces. Calls up store to be told the quarter pounder was still there. Second burger arrives 15 mins later still missing salad and sauces and now has chilli on the burger. Won’t recommend ordering from here, clearly incompetent staff

We ordered fresh fish, the young girl said the dish had just been cooked!! What she forgot to say it was fresh cooked two days before…. It was dry, discoloured and cold. The chips were no better. Never again

No a good experience the pakora was over cooked to near burnt and very salty.

£2.50 for small bag of chips. Dry and tasteless, obviously not fresh. Have supported this place for years, but never again.

I don’t normally write reviews but ordered a fish supper and bag of chips. Arrived very quickly which I assume with the quality of the fish and the chips they had been sitting for some time, the chips were hard and the fish very greasy as if it had been re-fried. It was supposed to be a large fish supper, at the cost of £8.10 I expected it to be larger than it was though thankfully it wasn’t, I only had a couple of mouthfuls and had to put the rest in the bin, not nice at all.

Very friendly staff good food and a great selection plus really good chips.

First time coming to Penicuik & ordering a portion of fish and chips from The Tower (+ another portion of chips). The food is fresh & tasted absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend to anyone passing by.

Hello, i received an order last night pizza was a 10/10 however i was disgusting when i seen the mushrooms! They looked inedible and disgusting i couldn’t even eat them they were soggy! the chips were like cardboard! I Will not be back!!!

Was ok. Not as good as normal, delivery was 45 minutes late and food was not hot.

Batter like shoe leather, thick and not crispy at all. Chips floppy and some too big so not fluffy in the middle. Disappointing.

Prob Good ingredients but as they let the fish and chips sit a long time, taste and texture way past their best, freshly cooked always goes down well

When someone says no tomatoes it means no tomatoes what if I was allergic to them and never checked because it asked for none and the french fries are awful.

The fish, in the special fish supper quality is deteriorating, and the fillets are thin and tasteless. The prices are ridiculously high, using yourselves, the service charge, and the delivery charge Who would have thought you would pay over £11 for that.

Delivered full fat coke instead of diet coke. Went in the bin.

I've ordered before and had no issues, but the food arrived over 20 minutes later than the end of the estimated window. I wouldn't have minded but the chicken in the mixed meat kebab wrap had a slight pinkishness in the middle of larger pieces, so most of that went in the bin. The Pakoras were fine, but I just like to be able to rely on things on time and properly cooked. Quite unfortunate, and not what I'm used to from The Tower.

Ordered first and not the last time! Food was fresh and tasty, portions enormous! Delivery was on time by very friendly man (despite the weather)!

This place and their friendly staff were a complete live saver when I arrived in penicuick completely frozen after an I'll advised late night cycle. They were all but closed up but made me very welcome, allowed me to recover core body temperature and served us an excellent bag of chips (still totally fresh even though it was the very end of their shift). Thanks folks 👍

Ive never had a bad meal here. The food is excellent. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They offer a gluten free menu Monday to Wednesday every week. You will not be dissapointed.

Everything was OK other than not getting a mixed kebab witch was ordered bit disappointed

Order was not as expected, ordered a "Supper" so expected a good amount of chips with my order, the amount of chips provided with my "Supper" was laughable! Maybe they have decided its best for them and less of a strain on their muscles if they keep the containers almost empty. I also ordered two of the buttered rolls, was looking forward to having a couple of chip butties. Trouble was no butter on one roll oh! And not enough chips to do two chip butties anyway!

Ordered for 6 pm, at 6.20 advised Just Eat that it was late. Was informed by their app the Tower would contact me on my mobile within 5 minutes to update me. At 6 34 I called the Tower and was informed it had just left the shop at and would arrive in two minutes. Its just arrived at 6.46. No good at all!! A very very bad service indeed!

Waited over an hour for 2 bags of chips and 2 rolls. They were so greasy it was like they'd been left in oil, pretty inedible. Disappointing after a long wait. The 2 rolls we got were fresh, that's the only good point I could say.

Hungry after work, got a fish supper, tried it and threw it away. Strong candidate for worst ever. Had to give it one star to post this.

Ordered 3 suppers and an munchie box and revived two suppers a single and a munchie box with very few chips in the suppers that did arrive. Normally the food is really good from here but was left disappointed with this order

1st time our order was late and the food was not hot so phoned Tower who apologies and resent our order which arrived prompt and hot. It was perfect and Tower made every effort to make sure it was just right. As ever the food was lovely and always leaves us with happy smiles and filled bellies.

Tried to contact about a delivery driver constantly parking on double yellow lines blocking a corner on a main road, I've almost hit a child 2ce as they can't see past the car so just run out. Not once have they replied.

My order wasn’t right at all which is unusual from here. Order chips cheese and curry sauce and got no cheese and they forgot my juice

We get a take away from here quite regularly and we have never had a terrible meal yet. Like the fact you can get a nice chargrilled chicken kebab or a pizza if you don’t fancy a chippy. Fish always nice and crispy batter and white inside. Occasionally chips can be a bit soggy if they’ve been sitting. Staff nice.

Driver made my day. After meeting him at the door I explained it was due to a sleeping baby. He need to do a second delivery and called my mobile to avoid ring the door bell and waking the baby.

I just needed a bag of chips after a round of golf..... £1.30 with salt and sauce felt like good value. Chips were as you’d expect, good to have some Scottish brown sauce on them.
