The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Had steak pie supper and a mince pie supper. The pies were really good so full of filling and the chips were lovely too. The staff are also very nice. They don’t normally do pies so I’m hoping they carry on doing them as I will definitely be buying them again. Thank you again for trialling them.

Had just the best experience at the Toll House cafe. Really nice food - very tasty leek and potato soup, and a cheese toastie that doesn't scrimp on the cheese and melted perfectly. Plus the owner is very friendly and made the place so welcoming. I was staying at a nearby house catsitting for the weekend and the house's boiler had broken, making me reliant on making a real fire. The owner, Julie, very kindly gave me some firelighters and gave me some other 'real fire' tips (they have a lovely one going in the cafe). Can't recommend it enough, both for the food and the lovely owner. I couldn't get back to report my fire-making success, but I did manage thanks to Julie! Great place.

Lovely, friendly staff provided excellent service. Quality produce, well cooked and presented. Dogs had their own bowls of water plus plenty of attention. We didn’t have room for their home baking but took some home to sample, delicious!

I have been an enthusiastic and regular patron of the Pottery for more years than I can remember, certainly 22 plus years. I have introduced many friends and colleagues to its delicious cakes. I was upset and disappointed on my last visit to find that loud unpleasing muzak had been introduced. This ruins the ambience entirely. Who travelling in the Highlands wants loud irrelevant noise? Sadly unless this disappointing development is reversed the place will lose my regular custom and that of my friends.

I came in and within two minutes was asked what I wanted. One menu between two. So only time for one person to look at asked for more time. Ordered a baked potato cheese and one with prawn Marie rose. A can diet of irn bru and can of diet coke when recieved was literally slid to customers. Asked for wificode. I am partially sighted and wear glasses was "told look at board" Potato with cheese came big enough potato but salad was absolutely tasteless Potato with prawns came was average according to customer £2.60 for can diet irn bru £2.60 for can diet coke. Bit of a profit there. Didn't even get asked if wanted sauces vinegar or salt

This was just perfect; very good service, very reasonable price and great food. What’s not to like? I’d recommend it thoroughly.

This is our fourth visit to Shetland, but the first time we've managed to find the hotel open for lunch. Friendly greeting, and we were told (almost apologetically) that they were 'only' doing sandwiches and soup for lunch. Have always wanted to eat here so we opted for the sandwiches. The guy behind the bar apologised that it would take a while (there were a few people in the hotel and only one member of staff in the kitchen). All I can say is that we won't be eating until very late tonight, if at all! Lovely sandwiches/toasties, a very large helping and good value for money. We both said we couldn't eat it all, but it was so good and nicely prepared that we felt it would be rude not to. It looks as though the hotel is undergoing a big refurbishment, so good luck to the owners, perhaps we'll plan a visit in the future and stay here. Brilliant, thank you.

I was told about this restaurant and wanted to try myself, as we were in the area, we decided to try it. We were greeted by the host and seated at a lovely clean (if it was sticky i would have left) Table. We had two large breakfasts and a Pancake with fresh fruit and Syrup, 3 coffee's. The breakfast was tasty the food had taste which i know a mushroom is only a mushroom but these tasted like they should (some are bland with no taste) great service, the Pancakes were huge and fruit was sweet for this time of year, a great wee team they have and will be back when i'm in the area. Prices were a bit higher than most places but the experience is worth it. big shout out to Izzy, willow and Paulo the chef, if i would change one thing would be table ordering instead of order at bar.

Great spot for a fully cooked Scottish breakfast food was 10/10 really enjoyed, atmosphere was slightly on the older side but made no difference to us (in 20s)

Necesita un poco de competencia. Lo visito cuando estoy en la zona. Las fichas tienen una alta rotación y son consistentemente buenas. Me gusta mucho la sal y la salsa. Todo bien hasta ahora, pero el pescado en sí fue decepcionante. Un poco delgada y la masa podría ser más ligera. También es caro. Es por eso que digo que podrían hacer con la competencia, ya que las opciones chippy para llevar por aquí son muy limitadas

I was served by a very rude young man named ryanm99, he was very immature and at one point stood on one of the tables and done something he called “cube mouth”, the food was also awful and gave me the skitters.

Had lunch today with my cousin I had the special steak ceabatta and Robert had cajun chicken pasta All food fresh and served piping hot with a lovely fresh salad garnish. A fantastic menu great value for money and such friendly service. Will be back and recommend highly.

My SILaw Betty & I had a lovely lunch at the Leadmines Cafe. Food was fantastic cooked by Nicky and extremely tasty. Rory made a lovely cup of Herbal tea to go with the lunch. Lovely staff!! Wanlockhead is a lovely place to go with the rolling hills and beautiful wee new born lambs running all over the fields. We had a first class trip to Wanlockhead and will go back again.
