The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

We stayed in Moulin for the week and went here a couple of times. Lovely to sit outside in the sun with a beer, good umbrellas in case it rains too! Food quite good, Cullen skink excellent, veggie haggis available and some vegan options. Good beer made at brewery over the road. Nice atmosphere inside- proper country pub.

We were here to do the archery and air rifles, and the the clay shooting. What a fun morning. We were put in a group of 6 the instructors were both excellent. The gentleman on the clays and the young man on the arrows and air rifles. We had a tea and a cake before driving home. Excellent morning.

A very welcoming atmosphere, heat staff who were very dog friendly. Food was good and would recommend the restaurant and beer!

Excelente, el pescado es precioso, al igual que la sopa y la tarta de queso de frambuesa y pudín de toffee pegajoso. pero las estrellas del espectáculo son su personal encantador. No conseguí ningún nombre pero la señora que parecía estar a cargo y camareras, todos tenían acento irlandés , BIEN HECHO ✔️ gente amable encantadora . Son todas estrellas.

All home cooked cakes..great for breakfast and coffee and afternoon tea..lovely views and walks. Inside and outside seating..so relaxing after dog walk. I’ll definitely be back.

Excellent menu that caters for all tastes. Great bar and ambiance with friendly efficient staff that take care of the clients. We have been on several occasions, with a large family group of all ages, and there is something for everybody.We have never been dissappointed

What a fabulous wee find. Popped in for a bite to eat. We had the soup and a sandwich deal. Sandwich was loaded with lovely chicken breast meat bursting out from the slices of bread and the soup was like your Granny’s homemade lentil, brilliant and delicious. The cakes looked amazing as well. Maybe next time. Lovely staff. Lovely peaceful atmosphere. A fantastic experience and very reasonably priced. We will be back. Don’t know why we didn’t try this place before given that we’re locals. Lol It’s a credit to the Owners.

We both had a very pleasant full breakfast on 29/10/24 in Purdy’s & were served by two ladies who were very welcoming. Good value. Good vibe. We will definitely go back Thank you!

Very good food and attentive service. Not sure why this place is not heaving and perpetually fully booked. Other places in Stornoway were booked solid but were not as interesting. It must be newish so it’s reputation as a restaurant hasn’t yet spread.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.

Lovely location in an old lodge right on the water. Very traditional feel. The dining room was fully booked so they kindly gave us a table in the whiskey bar, which was actually great for us as it was very cosy and felt a bit less formal. Food was fine, but it is very expensive and I didn't personally feel it was worth the money. We had better meals elsewhere for less. Service was good.

Pedido 2 x cenas de pescado estándar a £ 10. 10 cada uno, una botella de Irn Bru a £ 2. 30 y una botella de agua a £ 1. 80 que suman £ 24. 30 y se le cobró £ 26. 10 . ¡No nos dimos cuenta hasta que salimos de la tienda y sumamos lo que compramos! Así que no es genial ser sobrecargado £ 1. 80 ! ! El pescado era muy pequeño y bastante insípido por el precio y el color y textura no era blanco / grueso como el pescado habitual que obtenemos. Las patatas estaban bien. Pero después de esta experiencia no creo que volveríamos a comprar fish & chips allí.

Me my self got a chicken fillet supper with a side of gravy to dip my delicious chicken in to. My friend got scampi supper . Food was 5 * Service was 5 * Value was 5 * Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work team.

Our wee 2.5 slipped off her seat in the cafe with a muffin in hand. Safe to say it went everywhere while screaming after her muffin rather than the face plant. Lovely waitress snatched it up and returned with a fresh one right away. Thank you so much
