We had a self catering place a few miles away and needed provisions. We passed this little place and called in. What a find. Not only a small mini market for supplies, but a sub post office AND a small Cafe. There is also a small Museum and archive of local interest and guess what. ~24/7 Fuel pumps. We tried the Cafe which was sort of self help, Pour your own Coffee/tea and help yourself to various cakes hygienically kept under glass covers and tongs provided. The Sultana Cake was delicious. One pays at the PO counter at a fixed price per item. It was so good and the staff so helpful we actually made a point of returning twice more and we found the cooking very consistent. What a lovely place with great views from the cafe over the loch. There was roof work taking place with the appropriate warning notice and apology but it did not spoil our enjoyment. Go there and enjoy. We did. The shop sold delicious Lemon curd flavoured Orkney Ice Cream in tubs. Had to try it and returned for the fudge flavour next day.

We popped by today on a rather wet day to find the cafe and the museum closed. The views are good but unfair still to be advertising the place on various websites as clearly closed. I should have put two and two together when reading the last review being in 2019. Nice drive on a nice day but don’t expect to get a brew or bun.

We just decided to turn off the main road to see where it went. We saw Ravenspoint and fancied a cuppa and so we stopped, rather amazed to find this place in "the middle of nowhere". We were glad we did we spent some time chatting to the lady owner and then said we wanted tea and enquired if she had decaffeinated tea. She said no so we were about to get a bag out of our car when she went into he shop and opened a bag of decaffeinated tea just for us! Tea and lovely fresh scones & jam were very refreshing. Then we explored the museum which was very informative. This was a great place to stop. Thank you for being there!

Lovely spot for a light lunch or coffee and cake. Featherlight scones and good hot chocolate. Not far off the main road and well worth the diversion.

I stopped here for lunch on my way from Leverburgh to Stornaway but was disappointed to find the Cafe consisted of a self service coffee machine and a selection of chocolate biscuits on my visit. This was unusual because the Western Isles are peppered with small out of the way cafes like this serving food during the day.

We stayed for 3 nights and toured Harris and Lewis from there. The hostel sits in a very nice place, the rooms are nice and good standard for a hostel. The only downside is the kitchen, which is pretty small, so if a few guests at the same time are trying to cook and eat, it does get cramped. There is also a café, but we were never there when it was open. I

The centre does not open until 11.30 which was disappointing, as was the fact that the cafe was closed for the time being. However, there are some interesting artefacts on display and an excellent video on the re-establishment of the sea eagle.

A great place to enjoy the scenery. Sadly the cafe is closed, but the gentleman in the shop made us coffee and we were able to sit in the cafe to enjoy it, and chat with others. Notes on the tables of where to spot wildlife and binoculars available. Small museum of island artifacts

i visited here intending a brief stop on my way to explore Harris but it is such an excellent spot for wildlife watching I stayed much longer. All the cakes are home baked and the coffee was excellent and they have a really interesting little museum too. The huge windows overlook Loch Erisort and the cafe provides binoculars for you to spot seals, otters eagles and other birds while you are enjoying your food. They had lots of information on the wildlife you can see from the window and tips for where to spot wildlife locally. Will definitely visit again .

There is something about Ravenspoint that I can't quite put my finger on but keeps bringing me back. I love Outer He brides and generally visit at least once a year. Ravenspoint is one of those places that I never tire of and despite having something of a monopoly on the cafe trade in Lochs, the food is still good, the staff are always friendly, it's never uncomfortably/claustrophobically busy and the views are.... Well, come and see for yourself. Now, feet up and sup that latte... Ahhhhh. ...

I probably wouldn't have reviewed this cafe if it had been elsewhere, but there are so few cafes on the Islands of Lewis and Harris that it deserves a mention. The cafe is in a community centre with toilets and can be a useful stop -off when taking the main Tarbert-Stornoway road. The food is mainly snacks like cake but damn nice cake and good coffee. I think they do lunch if you go at that time. It overlooks Loch Erisort and binoculars are provided on the windowsills if you want to watch for wildlife while you eat. Seals and otters are possible sightings but we weren't lucky.

A lovely cafe set in a community shop (you can buy fuel as well). The cafe looks over the estuary and there are binoculars on the window sills for you to look at the wildlife. The lady serving was a knowledgable bird watcher, and pointed out if anything swam or flew by that we should be seeing! We had tea and scones - on offer at £3, which was really good value, and they were very tasty too. Well worth a visit.

We went to Lewis in search of Finlayson ancestors and the people we met at Ravenspoint could not have been more helpful. Not only great coffee, soup and cake in the cafe but time taken for long conversations and even a guided tour of the area. The exhibition is small but packed with interesting documents and photos. The shop has local food and crafts, the smoked sea salt produced down the road is fantastic for cooking.

Lovely, clean, bright café attached to community shop and interesting museum of local artefacts. For such a small place, a good choice of two types of soup, several filled rolls, yummy homebakes, and lots more. Good value. There are lovely views over the loch and (nice touch!) two sets of binoculars available for checking out the birds.

Despite the community café being officially closed (it being a Monday in the quieter season) - the Manager took pity on us and cheerfully provided us with tea, filled rolls, crisps and a choice of tray bakes in the warm, comfortable, modern café overlooking the loch. A bonus for me was being invited by her to 'have a go' at 'extreme knitting' using huge needles and ribbons of trimmed selvedge from the Harris Tweed looms. Great fun! Lovely, simple food and friendly staff. We hope to return.

As with so many places on Harris and Lewis - cafe advertised as open in literature, and on the door of the shop - but was actually shut. Still, a delightful lady chatted to us and made us a lovely fresh filter coffee - for which we were very grateful. Unlike most other places we had drinks.food and loo stops at on Lewis/Harris, this was spotlessly clean. Also has a wonderful wee local museum which we found fascinating, and a very well stocked shop. Would have been five star rating if it got its opening times sorted - it was a long drive to find it was shut.

The cafe is clean and well presented with excellent views across Loch Erisort. It is good to see such a great use being made of this former YHA for the purpose of the local community. The food we ate was fine and affordable. The coffee was good.My main criticism was the lack of items actually available that were listed on the chalked up menu. As I went through the menu, most items were not available which begged the question "why were they listed?". Staff were not unfriendly but a warmer welcome could be provided to customers. I would certainly use this cafe again if passing but would not make a deliberate journey out of the way. I recommend:- perhaps something to add to the atmosphere of the cafe. Possibly gaelic music.- ensure that items listed on the chalked up menu board are actually available and to ensure actual choice of items.

We didn’t have great expectations for this place when we fist arrived looking for a place to sit down and have a coffee and cake.It had the look of those community run places where they serve you terrible coffee and dubious home baking at a premium but I was delighted to be proved wrong. There were no tables left inside, but they suggested a table outside that I suspect was where the staff took their cigarette breaks. It was a lovely sunny day so we were happy to accept. We had lattes and victoria sponge and both were excellent. In fact the coffees were on a par with those served by hipster baristas in Edinburgh or London!

I am sure this could be a fab little cafe but unfortunately the service lets it down.On the plus it is in a lovely location with great views out to the loch. The food that we did get was good, particularly the victoria sponge. However, the service was really poor. I counted at least 5 people working in this little cafe with only about half a dozen tables. It took ages for someone to clear a table for us, to the point where I felt like they didn't want our business. We order paninis and chip, only to be told that we couldn't have chip because they had another table to clear!! I know island life is more relaxed but the service here was far too relaxed.
