Love this place. Fab freshly cooked food. Small menu but everything is made there and then and cakes and desserts are homemade. Staff are so welcoming and prices are very reasonable. Good selection of take away cakes, cheese and pies.

A friend had mentioned visiting Dunlop Dairy Tea Room and not having visited previously I took another friend who has not been well for a drive in the countryside and a lunch stop at the dairy. It is in a lovely rural setting and is not overly commercialised as many farm shops are. Service was prompt and friendly and prices reasonable. The food was simple but excellent, my tomato and pepper soup was tasty and piping hot and my Aiket cheese and cranberry sandwich very well filled. My friend had a luxury cream and jam scone which she says was excellent. All in all, a good experience.

Recommended by a friend who joined us today for lunch. The sweet potato and coconut soup was delicious, ample portion as well. I had a panini with local Dunlop cheese and pickle then finished with Eve’s pudding with custard. Phew that’s all I need to eat today 😊👌🏻 Highly recommended, nice atmosphere in a quiet farmhouse setting , and the ladies serving were lovely and friendly. Already reserved a table for next week, bringing a friend over from France.

Fantastic little tearoom with delicious home made cheeses, good range of toasted sandwiches and panninis and not forgetting the delicious cakes, you can also purchase their cheeses, cakes and freshly laid hen and duck eggs in the shop.

Arrived for lunch, we were shown to our table just behind the till and counter area. It was a busy day and there was one other table left. another couple were shown to that table after us and were provided with a menu. After 25 minutes, having watched this and not having been provided with a menu, we decided our custom was not required and decided to leave. On pointing out to the woman at the till why we were leaving, we received a puzzled apology, but no attempt to encourage us to stay.

We called in to Clerkland after a period of 3years, hoping that it would still be as good, we were not disappointed. The soup was excellent and the toasted sandwiches, perfect. The cakes looked lovely and the whole place was clean and fresh.

I had a very pleasant lunch with my friend who kindly drove us over when I was visiting on holiday. Beautiful countryside. A small tearoom so best to book. We both had the Ploughmans with their fresh cheese made in the dairy, plus a delicious milkshake, I opted for soup too. All was delicious. Lots of treats to buy and take away. Particularly enjoyed the quince jelly and cheese

After reading about Dunlop cheese online, I was delighted to see that the dairy was fairly close to where I live. We decided to go, Easter Monday, for some lunch and also to check out the shop. It was an absolutely delightful wee day out. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so cheerful and helpful and let me tell you, that was by far the best soup I’ve ever had! The small shop within the tea room had a lovely wee selection of cheese, crackers, vinaigrettes, baked goods etc. It is a small wee place but a true hidden gem! We’ll definitely be back 🥰💖

Lunch with a friend. Fresh soup (sweet potato & coconut) with sandwich or toasty using the dairy’s own cheeses. Delicious! Not many places in the local area for a light local lunch. Bought several cheeses & fresh eggs to take home. Come back? Sure I would.

I took my young family along to this lovely Tea Room. It was one of those places you drive past not realizing what an utter Gem you are missing. First of all im very interested in the hygiene of a Tea Room/ Restaurant. All i can say is as close to perfect as possible and as a Dad to 2 young girls both under 5, We used the rest room and I would like to say the size! Its huge. Parents will understand. More than enough space for taming younger kids. The Food on offer is great and of amazing value. Not going to lie the food all look amazing. The choice is wide, which is handy due to kids have wide tastes depending on their mood. The Staff were so patient and polite offering suggestions in the hard decision making process. They had the knowledge if asked about the food items on offer and don't worry my 5 year old did that. In a corner of the Tea Room there is a selection of local produce / fresh eggs etc. Well worth a look. We had the chance to meet the lovely lady owner. Who of course was very busy! its spring after all. She took the time to talk to us and made us feel so welcome. That woman knows her stuff. Such a feeling of drive and determination from her. To sum up a clean, beautiful and family friendly place to visit. Food of top quality and very reasonable priced. We will be back after all my cheese i bought runs out. Thanks for reading.

Today our group of 4 adults and 2 children visited this tearoom for afternoon tea as part of a birthday celebration .This reservation had been prebooked and in fact I had 3 conversations about the booking with the tearoom about the requirements . On arrival we were taken to the reserved table and when the waitress came for our order we were told that there was no afternoon tea available as the booking hadn’t been written in the diary! I was somewhat astounded and settled to have tea and scones instead only to be told there was only 1 available so we just had a cup of tea and a cake hardly what we were expecting and prepared for. At no time was there any attempt made to rectify the mistake and the service was below average .In fact we should have just left but we had travelled there in appalling weather and we couldn’t think of an alternative venue nearby to satisfy 2young children that had had a restrictive lunch in anticipation of the proposed tea. Perhaps customer service should be an urgent priority when staff are trained to work in the tearoom.

We booked a table for a birthday afternoon tea. Despite the staff contacting us to confirm our booking and allergies, they claimed no knowledge of tea being booked. No attempt to rectify the situation and served "what was left". Save your money, avoid at all costs.

This place is quite easy to miss from the main road, but well worth the trouble to find. I have visited several times and never been disappointed by the quality of the cakes, even at the end of the day when they tend to run a bit short due to the place's local popularity. Don't forget that the tearoom is also an outlet for the dairy farm; the cheeses are good and the milk from their Ayrshire cows is some of the best I have tasted anywhere. If you want milk to take away come early in the day as there are often no bottles left by mid-afternoon.

The soup and sandwich combination was hugely popular - all four diners sampled and enjoyed - and I am reliably informed that the Lemon Cream cake was so good that my promised mouthful failed to arrive. The scone/jam + the crumble + the fruity cake were top notch; actually I’m already planning a return...

We really like the place. True, it is a wee bit spartan but it is clean and the food is very good. The service is very good too and it is nice to have such a pleasant spot in the countryside for good home baking. The white chocolate cheesecake is awesome. Would be good if there was more than just filter coffee on offer.

This is one of our regular stops when we cycle near Stewarton. It's worth a stop for the home baked scones alone but the coffee is freshly brewed and very good too. Don't go home without taking some of their own cheese and proper oatcakes away with you.

I've had lunch here a few times - soup and a sandwich. The soups are made fresh on the premises and are delicious. It is a popular little place, so it can be busy at peak lunchtimes and there are only a few tables. The selection of both cow and goat cheeses is very good - and I have tried about 4 of their different cheeses - all made right there on the farm. They sell a couple of nice ice creams too, although they are bought in - not made on the farm, but fairly local. The Ronaldo's vanilla is my favourite.

Had a great lunch in this small cafe in very old building which is part of the farmyard. The ploughman's lunch was superb - wonderful section of cheeses and gorgeous chutney. Others had soup that was highly rated and I was told the egg mayonnaise sandwich was superb (I guess partly attributable to ultra fresh eggs from free range hens that we saw scurrying around the farmyard). Response to a bannoffie pie ordered by one of the party was a huge smile and a clean plate. We've since seen their cheeses made elsewhere in Scotland - including offered by the Michelin starred Peat Inn. Unless you know exactly where it is located, might be a bit difficult to find. Only sign is a small-ish one at their road end. Might benefit from signs a few hundred years either side to give advance notice, and one half way down their drive to confirm it is the way to the cafe?

Dunlop cheeses are made here - the original and several others. The car park is small and the seating area is not large. Cheeses, jams, books and craft items are for sale and a local information board tells you what is happening locally. Tours of the cheese production areas are not available. Service is efficient and informal. The food is well presented and is in reasonable portions. Milk is provided in miniscule jugs and coffee comes in cafetieres. Prices are fair and the surroundings are pleasant with work by local artists for sale.

This historic farm tea room is situated on the A735 Stewarton to Dunlop road in Ayrshire and is the home of the famous Dunlop cheese. This cheese is one of only a few written historic recipes that are still followed in production today and it's history can be traced back to the late 17th century. It's really good to know that the cheeses are all made on site( they make a few different ones) and are available to purchase from the shop. The tea room was built in 1766 for the farming family but serves well as an eatery. By no means is this a fancy restaurant but it's meals are traditional , many ingredients actually grown , or raised,on the farm lands , and the food tastes great. On my visit I opted for the ploughman lunch and without a doubt was the best I have ever tasted. Around four different pieces of cheese ( all made on the farm) , Pitemweem oatcakes ( brilliant) , lovely brown traditional bread , fruit compote and a couple of other ingredients made up a refreshing tasty lunch. Coffe came in the cafetière and was really nice. We purchased some oatcakes to take home as well as duck eggs and cheese

Rotten service spoilt the tasty macaroni cheese. Ordered Mac Cheese which came with garlic bread. Garlic burns my throat so I asked at the till for it to be replaced with ordinary bread - no problem said the cashier. Meal arrived with the garlic bread on the plate. Asked for it to be changed only to be told it couldn't be done as they don't do substitutes. Thankfully it wasn't allergy issue!

Visited recently and could not believe how bad the food was. Slice sausage was the cheapest of cheap frozen rubbish from Farmfoods or the likes of it. Chicken curry was simply not edible, again cheap frozen junk and the food was over priced.

Have eaten a few times here over the last year. Visited again this week and was disappointed at the portion sizes that have clearly shrunk. We overheard the table beside us comment too. I’d rather be charged a couple of quid extra for the same portion size rather than see them shrink and keep the prices. The chicken Caesar salad look like a starter portion and the Tablet Sundae comes a with a really long spoon but a very shallow dish. Strange decisions have been made by management! Staff were very friendly, though.
