Popped in for breakfast. Very polite staff, the food was great. Cosy place. Just visited again this week for lunch and it's really good food. Worth trying out

I enjoyed a ham and Swiss cheese benidict. It was delicious accompanied with a pot of tea 😋

Absolutely love The Duke. Had a great night with lovely food, attentive and engaging staff and an atmosphere that will definitely have us returning. Lighting, service, comfort and level of music all spot on. Other restaurants - take note….. Cocktails properly made with care. One small thing would be that the wine list, for us, is a wee bit restrictive but this is a minor point. Well done to all at the Duke. By the way, the coffee and cakes served during the day are excellent too!

Only stopped for a coffee and cake while out for a stroll around town. Carrot cake and coffees were excellent, however the fruit scone was very nice but a tad dry for the wife's liking.

Went to the Duke for some lunch a couple of Saturdays ago. They had a separate gluten-free menu so that's a massive plus for this place. The waitress messed up our order. That's not a good thing when 1 person is wheat intolerant. Am sure she had a pad to write down the things that we ordered but instead tried to memorise the order. The walk ways were far too tight, almost had someone sit on my food as they were trying to pass by.

Honestly food is great and service is great, just always feel like they're understaffed.

Bagel ordered and not edible as hard and chewy. Waiter (?Manager) shrugged shoulders and told me it is as they don't toast them. Didn't offer to replace with something else and basically meal not eaten. I won't be back as this is appalling customer service especially at these prices. No toilet roll in the toilets isn't great either and you seemed to have plenty of staff so this is just poor stuff.

Shared toilet dukes& duchess for a place as large as that, !!! I was underwhelmed.

Great tasting breakfast and good choice of food/drinks. Service was good, would definately recommend for a morning breakfast. Also looked like they had a decent selection of beers too.

First time visit, food good. Service quite quick although it was busy.

Steak as tough as old boots. Could have spent a week trying to chew my way through it! Three quarters of it left. No acknowledgement of this by waiting staff.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. This place has a nice feel with friendly staff. Attended on a busy Saturday night, the restaurant itself was cold and I didn't take my jacket off. Service was slow, most of the food wasn't warm, not just one meal, had tacos, they were nearly cold. Had chicken and rice soup, nearly cold. I had fogato for dessert, it was a standard vanilla ice cream with a peice of what was definitely tesco's or paterson's shortbread. Not worth the money at all. Macaroni cheese was runny with about 20 peices of pasta. For these prices it fell far below what would expected. At no point did the staff check on us and they didn't ask how our meal was when we were paying. I didn't leave a tip. Very disappointed, I won't be back.

Lovely food served by very friendly staff. Service was a bit slow when we were in but I'm sure normally it's good.

Terrible bland food. Chicken dish I ordered was so cold water was running out it from being frozen,Sent it back and second one was so overcooked I couldn't cut it and burnt on the top,I left the lot,all I received was an apology,won't be back.

Had two quite tasty sandwiches to go and an americano but at £18 was a bit steep for what we got and only a small 9 oz coffee cup. It's definitely a place to sit and relax rather than takeaway as the decor is very impressive!

Last minute lunch, didn't book. Apparently, there were no tables available. Girl at reception was very rude, never been before never be back.

Brilliant service as always here. Another regular eating place for us.

Food and drinks are nice but pricey for what you actually get. Nice atmosphere but service was shockingly slow.

Food was amazing. Drinks a bit expensive. We were a table of 5 and booked a table for mid afternoon, they were very strict on the 90 minutes and the table needs to be vacated rule. The restaurant was pretty quiet and they still asked us for the table back! Surprising since we were still interested in ordering desserts & cocktails, but we were over our time limit.

Love this place ,so highly recommend it . Food is excellent, staff attentive ( special mention to Danielle 👍🏻 who always has a smile on her face. The atmosphere in here makes you want to stay awhile & come back again. Located in the heart of the town so buses & trains within easy reach

Love this place. Food is amazing. Place itself is lovely and in a great location for transport. The staff are pretty friendly and service is good. Prices are as expected. Not cheap but not overpriced. Been a few times now and looking forward to my next visit!

We were walk ins for this our first visit to the Duke. We were sat at a small but well placed window table which was great for a bit of people watching. We chose from the cheaper set menu which is decent value but a bit limited for me, I would struggle to choose a different option if I go back. The food was very nice and there was plenty of choice of drinks however as with most restaurants the drinks are overpriced. Not much to complain about but also no real reason to rush back.

Fabulous place to dine and have a bottle of wine. The servers are ALL so professional and attentive. Love coming here.

Working away from Manchester, Last night in Scotland. Came across this place and WOW. Taste buds have never felt better. Excellent service and stupendous food, 100% recommended.

After eating In a premier inn week I just couldn’t take it anymore so ventured out. Unbelievable what you can get for practically the same price. 10/10 for quality, price and vibes

Super dinner tonight at The Duke. Food was delicious as always. Service from Leila and her team was exceptional. Thank you for being so accommodating with the menu given that one of us recently had surgery and has to be really careful what they eat, your kindness and understanding was really appreciated.

Thursday 27th Jan. lunchtime Hadn't booked, they were very busy, but we were seated by the bar in the window...it was lovely. Service was quick and cheerful, food was the same and delicious. Will be back

Didn't have our first choice from specials menu, offered similar which was much more expensive. Picked something else which was ok but not what I was looking forward to. Staff were nice but seemed harrased with only two or three tables occupied.

Went in with some friends for a coffee. A very nice place with friendly staff. Looks good for food but that would be for another day.

Either take dogs or don’t. Dogs allowed in November but not January Wasted money on a parking ticket.

Served pink chicken but that's how apparently its suppose to be cooked according to the chef. Waited 20 mins for starters only to be told there's no wings then to wait another 25 mins for replacement then came the pink chicken after. Was taken off the bill offered free pudding but £50 for essentially 2 drinks and a starter. Waiter staff lovely but unfortunately won't be back.

It was very nice. Portions could be bigger but the food is tasty.

Lunch with a friend and we both ate of the Christmas menu. Service wasn't particularly friendly and it was very slow. Food was delicious though. We both enjoyed what we ate. Wouldn't put me off going back as the food made up for the service.

Very friendly food was good and always freshly cooked. Recommended.

Sorry to say this. Although my burger was okay, my wife's meal was rubbish. A bowl of gloopy, sticky mess served with stale bread!!. Thank goodness she ordered a side of veg. It was the only thing decent on her plate. Don't plan to return.

Took Cooper our dog to the puppy party today and I must say we was impressed pups got totally spoilt and all free we had a Scottish breakfast and coffee absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced we definitely will be going again thank you to the staff as well very friendly and helpful first class service and food

Friday was my first visit to The Duke, atmosphere was very relaxed, food was delicious, staff vey pleasant, all of that plus an interesting décor. Highly recommend.

A very nice meal in nice surroundings. Friendly staff. One or two hiccups but very amicably resolved. Would definitely dine here again.

Service slow ask for drink 3 times and when asked for ketchup I received a thimble in the bottom of pot , 48 quid for 2 small liuches very expensive don,t think I will be back , shame cos it,s 2 min walk from my work

I had the eggs, bacon and haggis breakfast. Waiting time was ok but a more expensive choice would be welcome. Food was good however a bit dry. My wife loved the pancakes though! Not a fan of the sour dough bread.
