I cannot recommend this place enough, it is spotlessly clean. Served by excellent staff and the food is delicious, presented well and reasonably priced. The general ambiance was relaxed and although I’m not keen on tv screens, they weren’t over bearing. I would definitely revisit as they allowed our pooches in. If their bedrooms are as clean and as good as their food is - it would be a great place to stay!

We were lucky to arrive before the coaches did so more or less had the place to ourselves. Very good value for money. A single cheese melt in the high street would set you back £12, without a coffee. We went for the tea for two at the wool mill for £18. There was enough to feed 4 and the same with the coffee we chose. The staff are all kind and down to Earth. They provided us with a box that we could take the excess cakes we couldn't eat. It was the Christmas tea for two which included the turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches. Too much cranberry for me so made the sandwiches a bit too much like jam sandwiches for me. This aside, I would recommend and will return. Was all good and well worth the money. Home made mince pies and scones were very good.

My husband and I were visiting the antique centre and popped in to the restaurant for lunch, as usual. My husband always has a main meal and a cake and I usually just have their lentil soup, which is absolutely delicious and a cake. Today I decided to have my soup followed by sponge and custard.- I actually have had the sponge and custard before and thoroughly enjoyed it, however the last time I had a terrible time actually trying to get them to bring it to my table (my husband's cake had been demolished a while before I had to remind them - 3 times). Today I decided to risk having it again and the same thing happened. They actually denied that I had even ordered it. My husband spoke to the manager and he said he would 'sort it out'. Eventually, after waiting a completely unacceptable time, an assistant came and placed it, none too gently, on the table. We were expecting at least an apology from the manager but none came. On the way out we signalled for the manager to come and speak to us, which he did. However he acted as if he didn't know what we were talking about, even though he had spoken to my husband earlier. We voiced our displeasure of the poor service and all he said was "I'll pass this on to the staff". We won't be eating at the restaurant again due to the 2 incidents with the sponge and custard and the attitude of the manager

A relaxing overnight stay. Lovely warm room with blackout curtains made for a great sleep. Nice friendly staff. Lots of comfy seating areas. Garden and grounds free to walk around. Seating outdoors too. Nice range of breakfast options although the pork sausages had a strange taste. We both left ours. Only one slice of toast served per person. Lovely homemade soup with bread and butter on bar food menu but fish was clearly frozen and therefore wet which resulted in soggy batter. Mayonnaise is not homemade but comes in wee jars from Heinz. Pate is also bought in, a decent size 90g jar but disappointingly bland and contains pork as well as chicken despite being advertised only as chicken liver and port pate. Might be an issue for some who don't or can't eat pork. Pate came with nice apple chutney but only a single, small oval slice of bread. Be warned! I asked for 2 extra pieces and discovered after we'd paid our bill, with a 10% surcharge included which we were fully aware of beforehand and happy to pay, that we had been charged £6 plus the accompanying 60p service charge for the extra 4 slices they chose to bring, without butter..... Cheeseboard was nice, served with assorted crackers and chutney, again without butter.

We took our hound family for dinner and received a warm welcome. It was a semi-formal environment and delicious food. They also had a kids menu (~£7.50 for kids mains). Booking is essential and they're not open every evening. Would definitely visit again. Menu photos attached, although I believe that the menu does change quite regularly.
