What a fabulous wee find. Popped in for a bite to eat. We had the soup and a sandwich deal. Sandwich was loaded with lovely chicken breast meat bursting out from the slices of bread and the soup was like your Granny’s homemade lentil, brilliant and delicious. The cakes looked amazing as well. Maybe next time. Lovely staff. Lovely peaceful atmosphere. A fantastic experience and very reasonably priced. We will be back. Don’t know why we didn’t try this place before given that we’re locals. Lol It’s a credit to the Owners.

Travelled through to visit from Dundee as I had visited before and had a pleasant experience. However this time the tearoom was closed. No notice in the window. No explanation. When I phoned a man said they were closed "because of the rain" (but he would be open tomorrow) - precisely WHY they should be open as people would come in to get out of the rain. Well I had a wasted journey with two disappointed visitors. If you cannot be bothered to open when it is raining in Scotland then perhaps running a tea room is not for you......No doubt I will have a rude response to this as have others who have left a poor review. Now HAD the rooms been open then I would likely have left a far better review. When you run a cafe/tea room etc then perhaps you need to open in all weathers. Or does the roof leak?

We visited today, all we wanted was a cup of tea, we found a couple of staff very pleasant and engaging, however when your order comes and all you get is tea? Tea? Urn bru and it’s slapped on the table it doesn’t make you want to return, 10 covers max at the minute, I can see why it may be quieter than the others around the seafront

We decided to try this little tearoom for a snack type lunch. It is a very nice place, decorated in fifties fashion, lovely china cups and plates, fifties music playing, and a wall covered in fifties actors in their heyday. We had soup and bread, followed by scones, which were warmed up and a big pot of tea. All was nicely served with a smile.

Stopped here while visiting Anstruther...most food places we had seen were seafood or main meal lunches which we did not fancy. This cafe is quaint and so welcoming. We ordered toasties which were served with crisps and our cups of tea came with free biscuits...a lovely gesture. One of us had gluten free which must say was made with such lovely bread...and also were given some free gf biscuits! Big well done to the young girls who were running the cafe as they were so friendly and very attentive. This place is a must to visit for anyone down that way!10/10

Had tea/coffee here with my family recently. There is an extensive choice of teas which we got to see and smell before choosing. Coffee and hot chocolate were also excellent. The cakes were superb and baked by the owner. Everything served on vintage bone china which we all know makes tea taste even better. The owner very kindly gave me a cake with a candle as she knew it was my birthday. Very much appreciated. This wee place is great and so much better than the usual "chain" coffee shops.

Loved this wee tea room opposite the harbour in Anstruther. The outside facade is quite off putting and doesn't give you any sense of the hidden treasure inside! Black and yellow paint with no real decoration doesn't match with the quirky interesting interior! Once inside it's all authentic old China, lace tablecloths and beautiful homemaking. Service was friendly and welcoming with huge range if sample tea mixes brought to the table. Dog friendly, our 2 even got a roast beef snack! Scones, sandwiches and cakes all delicious and flavoured teas from the wee Scottish tea company were lovely and unusual. Well worth a visit. The photo wall of movie stars drinking tea is fascinating and a good pastime over lunch to name them!

We loved the tea room's interior / atmosphere, and all of the food and teas were delicious and fresh. Our vegan thought it was the best vegan food of it's type that she had eaten, and she and our coeliac felt that they ate just as well as those without dietary needs - (they often don't feel that way when eating out).

I visited Curiositeas by chance while i was on a trip to St Andrews and it has left me with a wish to visit it again. The atmosphere is one of a kind- cozy, laid back. The service is excellent, pastries are freshly made by a local producer i think, i recommend the red velvet cake and the scones. It is a place where you can enjoy a proper cup of tea in a quiet, cozy and friendly environment.Advantages: prices are ok, it is easily reachable, nice atmospehere, good pastry, excellent Teas. Disadvantage: it is a partial disadvantage i think - it is a small tea house so big group accomodation might be difficult. In conclusion, i recommend visiting this unique, life changing, magical place in Anstruthers and i'm looking forward to my next visit.

As we went to come in the lady rushed over to say they were closed (15.20 on a beautiful afteenoon) there was dirty tables and nothing looked even close to being closed. I really do not know what people's expectations are when they eat in this place (low I expect). We asked for 2 x coffees, 1 x scone and 1 x slice of sponge. The coffee arrived in a small tea pot and when I poured the coffee, all the granules flowed with the coffee into our cups. We then asked for it to be strained so the waitress replaced our cups and provided us with 2 x tea strainers. We then pointed out that the tea/coffee pot was empty which she promptly replaced with a fresh pot. By using both strainers we were able to remove most of the granules (but not all). When we asked for a till receipt, she said there was none and proceeded to write out a receipt for...well, see picture. We got the impression she made the prices up as she went along. There are no toilet facilities even though there is seating for more than 10 persons. We went into this tea room because all the others were full, we now know why.

Myself and two friends visited the tea room in April. We decided to have afternoon tea. Big mistake. Having been for afternoon tea many times before at various locations we had a good idea what to expect. You would normally get a selection of sandwiches (three different fillings each,)three small cakes each and one regular or two small scones with cream and jam as well as unlimited tea or coffee. Each of us had to choose one filling for our sandwich. We chose a different filling each so we we could swap. I chose a fruit scone and my friends chose cherry. When the sandwiches came mine had been made using the heel of the bread (not great) . We were each given HALF a scone My friends were given the top half of a cherry scone each and my half fruit scone had been cut from top to bottom, leaving no where to spread the jam and cream. It was a disaster. We were told there were no small scones left and that's why we were given half a scone. Honestly, how unprofessional. We decided at that point to take our cakes away and offer some feedback to the owner. We asked for our cakes to be bagged up to take away. We were each given a thin slice ( 2cm) of ONE cake . It was so thin it couldn't stand up on its own. That's certainly not what we were expecting. My friend offered some constructive criticism but the owner laid the blame on her new assistant who had cut the scones wrong, as if that was the only issue. At a cost of £12 each it left a lot to be desired.

The proprietor brought us a selection of loose teas and was very knowledgeable about the different types, my friend and I decided to share a pot of Earl Grey. Whilst my friend had coffee cake, I had the fruit scone with homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream – utterly scrumptious! It might just have been the nicest scone I’d ever had. I would highly recommend it and I look forward to returning again in the near future.

We were rather disappointed with our visit to the tea room. The teas on offer were mainly fruit infusions ( only earl grey or breakfast apart from this). Having been in many vintage tearooms in the uk sadly this new venture I found lacking! The table when you sat down you couldn't get your legs under when sat on the chair as the table at some stage had been cut down to size so my friend and I sat sideways. Lots of speciality tea on offer for my friend and I ordered a cream tea for one. The scone was the smallest not so fresh scone I have had with the smallest pot of jam and cream - no further decoration - no mint leaf or strawberry as per usual presentation. The furniture just seemed old not vintage - in other establishments the seats have been covered in vintage fabrics and chairs painted and white linen on the tables. The room felt claustrophobic with strange different mirrors on the ceiling. There was too much clutter and it seemed dark and dingy - why put a covering on the front door which blocks light. Also as it is a listed building there is no toilet only the 30p council one opposite. We wont be back.

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
