Lovely food. And good atmosphere

Absolutely amazing, staff are so friendly and accommodating, food was delicious with lots to choose from. We had 15 off us on a Saturday night and food came out smoothly with no delays, everyone was topped up on drinks with no waits. 100% will be back. Also has a great selection of gluten free options 😀

Since new management the place has a different great vibe and your made to feel part of a family. Food was excellent as was the service particularly Adam and Chloe, will return most definitely.

Lovely place for a meal, I noticed the staff greeted all customers like Friends, one of our waitresses was Chloe, very helpful and cheerful, definitely an asset to your restaurant, food was tasty and well presented, not too expensive, would highly recommend 😋

So over a 8/9 years ago myself and my late wife found ourselves coming to this establishment more and more with a Greene King Pub/Bistro you definitely get what you pay for. The establishment had a change of management some time ago & I will say it was definitely for the better they are very friendly and the banter is great. Last June as the management team know I lost my wife and they have done nothing but look after me and my family/friends since then. I would even go as far as they are becoming friends which is so very rare in the hospitality industry these days. The GM is so friendly towards my parents when I bring them in he always has nice banter with my father and thinks my mother is a sweetheart which is so lovely to hear from someone outside my family. Food wise is always a treat when the Grill is working I will say though "A Ripeye Steak" would be a lovely addition to the Main Menu plus it would go really well with the tasty Mash Potato & Greens. The other thing I think would be welcome is a guest Ale or lager every month to go along with the spirit of the mouth. They once sold Innies Gunn original on tap and unfortunately it's something I miss whenever I go in for a drink or to have with my main meal. Hopefully they can bring it back. Overall I think the management team are 2nd to none thank you for taking care of me and loved one and treating me as one of your locals it's a great feeling everytime I enter the building. The food went down well BUT £7.95 for a glass of coke and a pint of shandy.

Dog friendly, great service and food!

It was very busy, to the point where it was a while before the food arrived but in fairness, it was very busy. The food was great when it did come. Great portion size. Love that it's very dog friendly, they give your dog a bowl of chicken for a low price. Staff were rushed off their feet, very hard working but always smiling. Great atmosphere, can't say enough about this place. Clean, well lit, music, live TV for sports, prices are as you would expect for quality food and drink. 10/10

Me and my partner were just in with our dog. Food was really good. I had the beef bourgeon or however you spell it and he had chicken Balmoral and we both really enjoyed it. Starters were good too. Great prices compared to st.andrews where we come from. Waitresses were very attentive too definitely be back

Decent enough food in a pub setting.... part of a national chain of pubs. Service is good, staff are pleasant and helpful especially the manager. Doggo friendly.

Have a Gluten Free menu and no issue when pointed out also lacto free.

Very disappointing meal. Half the dishes not available, no vegan options left, so one member of our party had no food. We waited almost an hour for food to arrive (had to ask where it was) though pub not busy. Food didn’t look appetising - the Hunter chicken (my third choice as other choices no longer available) appeared partially raw although I was assured it was cooked. I was offered another dish instead but as we’d already waited an hour, I declined. The salad garnish was ropey - old iceberg lettuce. Would have walked out had our kids not been starving, so stayed so they could eat. Staff not bothered (apart from one helpful lady but by then it was too late). It’s a lovely looking place but wouldn’t recommend eating there based on my experience.

We go for fish n chips every week . There fish n chip use to be very big .Great portion but in few month the fish quality is down, very small fish for,cant even fillme up .very disappointed from few month . Need to change as use to be

Lovely food, lovely staff. Bit quiet for a Sunday but that's not always a bad thing.

Overall food was good and well presented.

The staff need to be recognised for their service and going above and beyond in their care. I collapsed within the compass , all the staff were excellent, Mikey and Adam with the help of a wonderful nurse who was celebrating her anniversary, took great care of me getting me into the recovery position until I was able to be taken to A&E. The other staff were immense in keeping the restaurant servicing food and drinks. Thank you again

We visited here several times during our mini break to Edinburgh and we noted that the staff were AMAZING every single time. Super happy, funny and kind! The food was yummy and we always left feeling really happy. Special shoutout for the cheesecake... A MUST TRY lol

Great service, decent food, good selection, cocktails available. Available on a Saturday night when all others in the nearby area were full. Only £50 for two people all inclusive.

Been in here loads. It’s standard chain pub food so don’t expect cordon bleu. However, staff are really friendly and never had anything but a good time here.

My mom and I are travelling from South Africa, and we had no idea where to eat. We found the Compass, walked in, and we were greeted with smiles and great music. First time eating Haggis - it was FANTASTIC. The food was incredible, and the staff are friendly and communicative. Thank you to the Compass Team for making our first evening in Scotland one to remember. 15/10 would recommend!

We all went in there Tue 10/9/23 & for me the taste of their coffee gets a 10/10. It tasted like the smell of a cigar which might not be to everyone's taste. What u don't like was lettuce 🥬 they serve up - it's the kind that can stick in one's throat - best lettuce, is iceberg. I will return to try their curries 'cos those of our relatives said that the curries tasted really nice. Here r 2 pictures of the lettuce & one of the blackberry & apple pie? but saw no green 🍏🍏 in it.

Forced off A90 due to accident. Fueled at BP at Dalgety Bay and had lunch at the Compass. My food lukewarm. Service was good. Premises clean and tidy. Toilet spotless. Wife's food okay.

I must apologize for my 3 star review previously. It was certainly unintentional. Myself and my wife, Father and Milo my shih tzu have been to the compass fairly regularly It's a lovely place. Very nice surroundings. Hospitable and friendly staff. The food is also always nice and served hot. Enjoyed the Lamb shank roast yesterday followed by apple crumble and clotted cream ice cream Highly recommended to anyone interested in visiting the compass. Will certainly be back in the near future

Great place to go for a meal, the staff are friendly and didn't have to wait very long for food to be served. The food itself was very good, with plenty to choose from and plenty of drinks as well. Will definitely visit again.

An exceptionally good restaurant with a large variety of choice in food at reasonable prices- a mushroom pie with mash potato and veggies cost less than Ł10. Three of us had very different dishes, each of which was really delicious. You definitely get great value for price here. The atmosphere of the restaurant, both inside and outside, is friendly and homely as well, with furniture and decoration looking modern but very warm with natural colours. I especially liked the vegetarian menu, the free jug of water and the plants outside.

Food only ok. I ordered mushroom pie as was a vegetarian option. I got some mushroomy gravy on a plate with a lid of puff pastry on it. That wasn't what I had imagined and it took so long to arrive I wonder if I was the first person to ever ask for it and on their absence of knowledge of what this was, improvised. My partner liked his food though so maybe just don't order the mushroom pie.

We had a pleasant meal here, the staff were very friendly, with plenty of room, even around the pool table area. Good background music.

Great place for a meal. Your dog can go as well. There's a menu for dogs. They can have chicken for £1, sausage for £1. Staff are very friendly. They operate the discount for Blue Light and Defence Discount card holders. Plenty of parking.

Overall I would award a 3 1/2 out of 5. The place was quite busy when we arrived and we ordered 2 fish and chips, a turkey roast, initially I ordered the duo of seafood with skin on chips but when I was told they had run out of potatoes and it would come with french fries I changed my order to the chickpea and sweet potato curry. Unfortunately the duo of seafood was still left on the order. I'm not saying it was entirely the girls fault that took my order at the till as she was helping me to use my blue card app on my phone to get 20% off the food. I was that customer that was holding up the queue and the member of staff was very friendly and took me through the process to get the discount. However I was aware the customers behind me were getting frustrated, it was at this point I think the situation would have benefitted if another member of staff helped out but that didn't happen. After paying we sat at our table and waited for our order, and waited, and waited, 50 minutes went by until I called over a staff member to ask what is the usual wait time. Within 5 minutes we had our food. 55 minutes after ordering it. It was then we realised the duo of seafood wasn't removed from the order and I had paid for it. Again the staff were lovely, I told them to leave it and we divided the dish up between us. My curry was lovely as was the duo of seafood. The rest of my table said their was nice / ok. So to recap. Atmosphere - great Staff - very friendly and helpful Service - on this occasion slow Food - Lovely, nice, and ok Value for money - not bad at all with the 20% off for Blue light card holders and military services. If you are going to use the blue light app, and don't want to hold the queue up. This is how you do it. 1. Open the app. 2 search for Greeneking restaurants. 3 show the QR code to the staff member and get your 20% off. Would I go again to the Compass. If I was in the area and hungry, I'd certainly pop back in the 🙂

The food is good pub food. It has an excellent vegetarian and vegan menu as well as a really good value kids menu. The staff are all so friendly. The place is dog friendly which is a bonus. Pool table is a great hit and they look like they do a lot of charity work too. I really like this family friendly restaurant.

We've been going to The Compass for a few years now and never had a bad meal. Their katsu curry is delicious ! The menu is big and varied, service is always quick, the food is lovely and the prices reasonable. They even do a 20% discount for Blue Light card holders. There are fancier eateries in Dalgety Bay, but if you just want to rock up and enjoy a nice meal at a decent price, then look no further.

Roast beef was good, generally food could have been hotter, my partner had lasagne which was tasty. Apple crumble always great. Would not order waffle and banana, icecream etc again, partner had parts of waffle could not cut it was so hard. Friendly staff and helpful. Would still visit again, just order some other things.

First time here as on holiday. Asked for a starter and main and both were not available. It would have been helpful to be told about this before we tried to put in our order. Food was average and warm at best. Very reasonable prices but I think I would rather pay more and get better quality food

Really can't come to terms with current pricing, 15 frozen chips, 3 slices of battered hullumi and peas. I could make that for 20% of the price. Whose carrying the burden of the current pricing issue. Always the customer!

Well today I travelled by bus from Dunfermline, I had the Steak and Ale pie and chips. The food was lovely. and the staff were lovely. Will definitely be back on my next holiday off work. 😃 😋

Absolutely love the compass. I often visit here with my girlfriend and friends. Being gay, it can be daunting going to different places because you never know if the staff are going to be judging you, but the staff are lovely and always so friendly. Not got a bad word to say about place or the staff. We attend the quiz on a Thursday most weeks and really enjoy it. Thank you for making it such a comfortable place 😊

Phoned in advance to check the kitchen was open for half 8. They confirmed it was, at a push, despite the website saying open until 9pm. Showed up before half 8 and got a frosty reception. Sat down and the waitress left for the kitchen, before returning to say "5 minutes". We decided against rushing our order. Recently updated Google site says the restaurant confirmed the kitchen was open to 9pm weekdays only 2 weeks ago. Also no sports playing, as confirmed by the waitress, despite it being advertised.

Fantastic family (and dog) friendly restaurant. Very friendly and efficient staff. Vast array of options on the menu including the usual pub grub options. My wife and my father both had the special fish, the fish was huge and also very tasty. All the other dishes were very good too. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Can't wait to come back

Great fish and chips and staff really friendly and professional. Liked the different seating with booths, normal tables and high tables with high stools and bench style seats. Music was, for me, a little loud, but noticed it went a little quieter after a bit, which was much better. Will definitely go back. Really enjoyable couple of hours with friends

Great evening out with friends at the Thursday night quiz. Pub was busy, great atmosphere. The quiz was well presented by the DJ guy and was great fun.

Nice Friendly Bar, Mainly go every Thursday with some family for the Quiz with DJ Joose as it is a great laugh! Really fun and a great way to interact with others. Great atmosphere and you learn something new each week!

Food is wonderful, The waiters were very nice. I left something here and they helped to save it and let me get it back. There was a question and answer game with the hosts during dinner time that night (I don't know if it's only for special days?) There was a great atmosphere and it was fun.

Really good, tasty food, the only thing I'd say is don't go if you're starving as it takes a while for food to be served, at one point I was tempted to cross the road to the garage and get a sandwich to keep me going. They also have a free function room and outdoor seating
