Haggis pasty with the whiskey sauce was fantastic and well prepared. The bothy burger had a great mix of flavours that fit perfectly well together. Boiled and fried chips are always a great way to have chips. Great service all round.

I honestly cannot fault the food here as it was beautiful. Two Sunday roasts for a very reasonable price in the middle of St Andrews, brilliant. The decor is lovely and lends itself nicely to a romantic night out. The staff were all very friendly and polite but I do think maybe some training would help to make this place even better.

It is a new restaurant just opened a few months ago. It is very charming. The gas flames outside are very inviting on a cold night. Inside is warm and accepting. The food is good. Went for a family Sunday lunch. I was a guest so didnt want to complain about my meal. We had all wanted to go for Sunday lunch and were looking forward to it. Two guests had a Chicken Sunday Lunch and I had the beef Sunday Lunch. I didn't get a yorkshire pudding, everyone else did and my beef was tough, almost to the point of not being able to be cut. Def more vegetables than meat. Overall, average for what was an expensive meal. I should note we love a sunday lunch so had high expectations before we arrived.

Hand drier in ladies toilet broken. The to be slapped with a service charge of 10%. Not highlighted clearly on menus on line. Discretionary, but we were not asked first!! Average meal for the price ticket. Not going back.

We visited on a Sunday night, cosy restaurant, busy, with a good atmosphere! My first comment is a personal preference; I don't dislike dogs, but I don't like dogs in restaurants, there was a terrier two tables down, it didn't bark often but it was disturbing when it did, at least it was on the floor. As we were leaving, another dog came in and was sat at a booth, not on the floor, but sitting up on the seat. The barman brought over our bottle of red. Comically, he didn't know how to use the corkscrew, he made hard word of it but got the cork out in the end without any bits of cork in the wine. The wine was excellent! My wife sent the haggis starter back because it was stone cold, a new one arrived shortly after, she described it as delicious! Minor point, when the replacement was delivered the waitress said she would check if it was OK, she didn't. I had the Cullen Skink, it was excellent. I ordered the lamb roast but was sent the wrong dish, it was fixed quickly and tasted great. My wife's roast beef was delivered without a Yorkshire pudding. It was quickly sorted. Finally, and most damning comment concerns the roast beef, it was tough and almost impossible to cut and really, really chewy. On the plus side the veg was delicious. All of our issues were resolved promptly, but overall, we didn't really enjoy our experience and probably would not return.

Staff member with red hair just rude, deliberately ignored us waiting to ask for a table, eventually said she’d clear our table but didn’t , just those around us, , said she’d bring menus but didn’t , lad with no smile when I finally managed to get him advised there was a QR code to to scan- tiny and covered by the condiments box , after 20 mins we left without ordering, as did the couple on the next table to us , I was polite and pleasant, it’s a shame it wasn’t reciprocated

We held our wedding rehearsal dinner at the Bothy and were absolutely thrilled with how it all turned out. We rented the top floor which was the perfect size for our party of around 30 (although could have fit more). The decor was beautiful and it was nice to have a private space. They were very easy to communicate with to design the set menu I was looking for and the service on the day was fantastic! The food was always hot, delicious and really well presented. They didn't make us feel rushed at all and it was nice to be able to linger and enjoy time with our guests. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a restaurant to host an event!

Extremely disappointed in the attitude of the serving staff. Felt the waitress was only interested in gossiping with the girl at the bar and not in serving the customers. She attempted to foist the QR ordering system on us although we stated clearly we wanted a paper menu and table service. She was so slow in coming to us that we finally gave up and went. Her attitude was rude and insolent when we complained.. A great pity as the menu looked interesting and the ambience unique and colourful. A shame the inefficient and rude staff let down a quality restaurant.

This is a hidden gem. I was in town for a week, and tried many restaurants for dinner. This was the only one I went back to a second time, Friendly, relaced atmosphere and attentive staff. The town is so dog-mad, and the Bothy not only allows you to bring them inside but also sets them up their own bowl of water and such. Food was excellent, at a fair price. It's tucked away on Church Square, so a bit of an effort to find.

We have never been to this establishment since it changed over, so we decided as day out treat we would head out to St Andrews. We live locally and work in St Andrews so know the area. Lunch it is. Firstly as you enter the establishment the quality of interior and fittings look wonderful, brilliant. The welcome staff while efficient verged on rude but we went along with it. The menu was good and we ordered. I had the haggis pasty which when it arrived was slightly undercooked for me, the pastry was floppy. The main course of a burger was great, exactly what it should be. My partner’s starter of beetroot was good and her fish main course she enjoyed. No room for puddings 🤪

The neighbouring table ordered a burger. The burger came with lettuce, bun and no burger. The other table came in half an hour later than us and recieved their food before us. The menu said seafood sharing platter but it was only for one. Half of the company ordered two sharing platters, the other half one. On face value, an honest mistake. When it was pointed out we were told “you only ordered one”. No suggestion on how to fix it. We ordered a Caesar salad without anchovies but it came with anchovies. When we pointed it out the waiter checked her notes and protested. When a situation like that occurs you “just fix”. The seafood and shrimps appeared to be your generic Tesco frozen food. The lamb was severely over cooked and tough. The carrots were raw and even tougher. The bread for starters was stale and a at least a day old. We waited for half an hour between starters and our mains. This was hopefully a bad day for them but a restaurant of this calibre can’t afford mishap like this. Be careful with this place

Faultless in all respects. My son treated me to a surprise Father's Day dinner at this splendid restaurant which was an absolute delight from beginning to end. We had to delay the booking for an hour because I wasn't well and the staff were more than happy to accommodate this last minute change. The building and decor is eclectic and possibly might not be to everyone's taste but for us we loved it to the point where we would be happy to move in and live there! As for the food, we went for the pork option on the Sunday roast menu following delicious starters, one of broccoli soup and one of pâté and it was all beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. I was visiting St. Andrew’s with a friend and we loved the aesthetic, and menu which looked amazing. They were busy, but accommodated us. The service overall was good, but communication could have been better. The water was unexpectedly pricey, and there was a surprise service fee at the end. I ordered the deep fried brie appetizer. Our server mentioned it was small, but could be shared. It was even smaller than expected….It tasted good, but wouldn’t order again due to the size. Definitely not worth £7. For the main course I ordered the Squash and Feta Wellington. I kept eating and looking for the feta which I did not find. The beets that were on the menu description were also missing. Again, portion was small. Left hungry. The cappuccino was excellent, definitely the best part of my meal. I’d like to be clear that I’m not being critical of the price, because I would have been happy to pay if the food lived up to the expectation set by the price, atmosphere and description on the website.

A bizarrely bad experience. The restaurant is cute and friendly enough, and they managed to fit us in without a reservation, albeit with a half hour wait. And the food was actually okay, but 70% of it wasn’t what we ordered. And 100% of it was cold. The loin of wild deer with fondant potato and creamed neeps sounded delicious. A shame then that it was actually served with crushed potatoes and carrots, without any acknowledgement or apology from the staff. Disappointing, but perhaps not the end of the world. That came when the charred tenderstem broccoli side arrived and turned out to be green beans! Which weren’t even on the menu. Again, not a word from the staff until we pointed out the mistake. But by now we were too hungry to quibble, as we’d been waiting quite some time (judging by the lukewarm state of the food, far longer than was necessary). Oh, and the ‘wilted greens’ that were to come with the chicken looked and tasted suspiciously like chargrilled white cabbage, but whatever. And so to the final deception: the wine. The fairly unpleasant Malbec we were served was simply not what was advertised on the menu, which judging by the glass we’d had while waiting at the bar would have actually been quite nice. Once more no mention of this switch from the staff until we highlighted the discrepancy with what appeared on the bill. Apparently it was just tonight’s substitution. But of course. And at exactly the same price, what are the chances! All in all, a very odd game of ingredient roulette, more akin to a supermarket delivery that swaps choc ices for chocolate ice cream, but without the handy email notification. I appreciate that we arrived towards the end of the evening and the kitchen had maybe run out of some things, but please just have the courtesy to say something and maybe give us the opportunity to order something else. Sorry, would not recommend.

Booked the Bothy for Hogmany Dinner. On the whole we had a lovely time. Unfortunately the service was not great. We were seated for twenty minutes before we were asked if we would like to order a drink. I asked for a Hendricks gin and tonic. Hendricks gin should be served with cucumber, it came with lemon which I dislike, I asked the server to change it but she came back to say they didn’t have any cucumber??? A bit strange for a restaurant!!! Despite paying for and pre booking our meal, we were in the restaurant for fully one hour before we were served our starters which we had to ask for. The next two courses came as expected after this and the food was good. I might add, the people on the table next to us, who arrived after us, were well through their main course before we got our starters. After finishing our food I ordered a cocktail only to be told they didn’t have one of the ingredients for the drink I’d ordered??? Why have it on the menu then???? I had to choose another. The staff were lovely and it was not their fault that the place was understaffed. They all appeared to be working very hard but at times no staff were to be seen. The music was not great but did liven up a bit as the night wore on!!!!!! He was not a bad singer but the music he played, other than a handful of songs, was not the most lively.

Very poor all round. We were given the menus at 7.15pm and the waitress told us that 7 dishes had ran out. We asked what the “Braw Deal” options were and this was apparently off too, despite being a Friday. Having picked from the limited menu we were told that they’d run out of more items and had to choose again. We had some basic starters which were fine, but then waited an hour for the mains. We had to leave for arranged transport at 9, so agreed to pay the bill when the food arrived to save time. The fish pie was cold, the steak was under cooked and tough (didn’t get eaten) and the chips were hard. The sauces for the burgers never arrived, so had to leave the table to find the waitress to get these. We got 20% off the bill due to the poor selection. This still totalled £125 for what was very poor quality and service. They may just have had a bad evening, but I’d suggest not worth the gamble. We certainly won’t be back.

visited with family having been to the Glasgow restaurant many times. Pork was off the menu and replaced by duck. This was fine but came raw (not pink) accompanied by dauphinois potatoes and coleslaw which seemed an unusual and lazy choice of vegetable. One of our party ordered cranachan which consisted of 2 scoops of cream on a bed of granola. I know there are different variations but this is a town which welcomes visitors from all over the world and they must have wondered why we Scots like it. Staff very apologetic and money taken off the bill but would rather have had decent food. Unfortunately won’t be back

Reserved a table at 2pm and by 2.30 pm our drinks had still not arrived. The staff who were on duty were very disorganised and unable to cope with a lunch service. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Lovely people, food could of been much plainer to the Scottish pallette , ie the steak was lovely texture but I would of liked to have option of plain steak with just fried mushrooms and maybe a bit fried onions , English mustard ...instead9 I got garlic and butter which was nice but I would prefer options ...the potatoes had a weird taste , would rather just butter potatoes again never had option .. so because the waitresses were so lovely it kinda made up for the loss at a great price as steak wasn't sirloin or fillet but still kinda nice at bits ....more options this place needs ..... to many ingredients spoil the broth comes to mind .....also the chips I got were frozen thin fries witch were really well done to the point they were all hard and unedible..for the price paid I would've expected real soft fluffy fries inside and outside crispy potatoe fries.. Definitely the most expensive place we went on our week hoilday in St Andrews...but sadly not the best food experience but as I say waitresses absolutely lovely 😊

We had lunch here on a Friday. The cullen skink was superior and the venison burger was delicious. The server was friendly and attentive. We booked a reservation for Sunday evening based on that experience. Sunday evening was a totally different experience. First, we were told that the dish we wanted (seafood crumble) was not available. Should have walked at that point, but we didn’t. We ordered lamb rump and duck pate. The pate was pretty good. The lamb portions were meager and the flavor was drowned out by the copious amount of sauce on it. None of the “noon” servers were present, and the service was spotty. Bothy? I wouldn’t bother.

Nice enough food but service was a bit slow. Waitress wiped a table across from us and then waiter wiped the same table. Lack of coordination.

My family and I decided to have a late lunch in the bothy, as we liked the gorgeous look of the outside! The restaurant inside was stunning, so quirky and homey. The staff were so friendly and accommodating we instantly felt comfortable. The food was beautiful, don’t think there was anything left on any of our plates! Would definitely recommend if your visiting St Andrews and love amazing food and gorgeous scenery!

Lovely company, a charming waiter and pleasant and comfortable surroundings. But sadly the food was very average and expensive. Having written that yesterday, I must apologise - the bill had included drinks I had forgotten about. Not as expensive as I had thought, and more in line with the quality of the food. Apologies again...

Mixed bag folks so if you have options take them. They can do better as evidenced by their replies to reviews. Not there yet. As Amadeus said in the movie I celebrate mediocrity and given the price per person one should not pay for mediocre!

Visiting St Andrews for a long weekend and thought this place looked cool. The menu looked nice and the website was well put together. Beyond that it falls below expectations in almost every other way... The food itself was distinctly average, I would compare it to something from a mediocre chain restaurant. The service was particularly slow and they didn't seem to know the menu particular well forgot 50% of my main and I had to ask for it... In addition to that there are a few tables a touch too close to the tills and staff gather there to talk... Which for a restaurant priced like this isn't what I expected. You'll remember this venue for the quirky, well put together decor, but not much else.

Food was good. Unfortunately we waited well over an hour for the food. Staff were inattentive. I think with proper management, this could be a great place. I hope they can figure it out.

Amazing as always. Food and drinks were delicious and the service was once again outstanding. All the staff are so attentive, friendly and on the ball. Huge shout out to Lucas our server who was such a lovely member of the team. Hands down my favorite pub in Dunfermline.

We were so disappointed that this once fantastic ice cream shop has now changed to ‘Mr Whippy’!! No flavour selection unless you chose the tubs mentioned in the previous review. My niece chose an Oreo milkshake which was OK at best and extremely overpriced at £6! Will not be back!

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Dreel Tavern last night. The food was superb, the service was friendly & attentive, and the general atmosphere was welcoming and a real home from home. We couldn’t have asked for more. Thoroughly recommended!!!
