Very disappointing. Although the Alfred Dunhill Pro-Am was in full swing. Special attention should have been made for extra employees. Waited over 15 minutes just to receive one drink. Had to go ask for it several times? No clean tables lots of dirty glassware and dishes all over. Honestly we were shot at such a lavish golf course in such disarray

Had dinner at The One Under after spending the day at the AIG Women’s Open. Have eaten there before and had lovely meals but seemed like they were just taking advantage of the event - what a rip off! My “Cobb salad” was a small plate of.lettuce, a sprinkling of spring onions, 4 cherry tomatoes and a few grams of halloumi - for £20! Meanwhile my husband’s burger was tiny and when he complained about it, the manager tried to justify that it was normal. The did eventually replace it with fish and chips but all in all it was a pretty disappointing meal.

Cool bar in the basement of the Rusack's Hotel. Parallels the Old Course 18th hole, near the 18th green. You'd think basement would equal dark and cramped; nope! Well lit environment that is a great place to grab some food and drink and watch some sports on the TVs. Plenty of comfy armchairs interspersed with the normal two-top or 4-top tables. Server was great; genuine, helpful, mindful of her job. Worth stopping by!

We popped into "The One Under" for a coffee and catch up yesterday lunchtime (14 March 2023). It was just before 1pm and the cheery, helpful person behind the bar advised she could offer drinks but the kitchen did not open until 1pm. I enquired as to whether she could offer scones (to accompany a pot of tea) and she said she would enquire. She knew they were available in other parts of the hotel as they offered afternoon tea, but she did not have them on the menu in "The One Under". She delivered our tea and then off she popped. Despite being the only member of staff behind the bar, she ran up to the top floor (to their restaurant called '18') and returned with four lovely, fresh and perfectly warm scones (two each - a plain and a fruit) with jam and clotted cream. They were perfect! We wanted to leave a review as too often younger folks in hospitality don't get credit for being customer focussed - Megan went above and beyond for us and I hope that her line manager and the rest of the management team truly appreciate her!

Recently opened upmarket pub in a fantastic location. Service was not as good as it should have been for a quiet Wednesday night, a bit slow but new place and new staff they deserve a chance to improve. The food was good from a fairly limited menu, and priced as you might expect for a prime location. We had a cocktail which tasted great but looked more like a glass of disprin - no garnish or fancyness. Lastly, the coffee was awful which I can't understand - tasted like almost like an instant or cafetiere that been microwaved ? So, will we go back - 100% yes. Just needs a wee step up to be where it should be in this beautiful hotel.

As it was a drizzly afternoon, thought we'd stop off at a decent hotel for some drinks with a sea and golf view. I asked at reception if we could come in for drinks. Staff were super helpful and friendly, explained the new restaurant was closed that day as the chandeliers were being fitted and escorted us down to the bar. Now after walking through part of the beautiful, newly renovated hotel on a mini tour, I was totally taken aback at the sight of the bar. If this too has just been renovated, I'd sack and sue the designer. Although some seats look modern, the whole place has an ugly 70's dark, grubby wood vibe going on. The whole bar is dull, dingy, tacky and sticky. Didn't look clean but that may be due to the faded looking floor. Staff were very friendly, chatty and attentive, although I had to return my aperol spritz and ask that it was made to the recipe that's handily on the back of the bottle and super basic! Saw that other guests had ordered food which looked really good though and after that our aperols were perfect. They played a great selection of music and I'd say if the bar was decorated like the ground floor, it would be a great spot all year round. Right now though, it wouldn't tempt me back if I stay in the hotel.

Visited using an itison voucher for the fish and chips and g&t deal. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table and our drinks order was quickly taken. There was another couple having fish and chips and there fish was massive and we thought how are we gonna eat that kind of portion. Our plate was then served and it was about half the size that the other couple had, but we weren't too bothered. We finished off with a dessert. They should state that itison is half price but you only get a half portion. Don't go here if any of your party has mobility problems as the steps down proved a major obstacle to us that's why I've marked it down

Visited St Andrews with my parents, who wanted to go back to see the Rusacks as they stayed their many years ago. Hotel itself seems lovely, with great views of the Old Course. Unfortunately the "gastro pub" for the hotel, the One Under is awful; one of our worst dining experiences. Warning signs should have been there when we showed up and realised that we were the only people in the restaurant at 8PM (and nobody came in throughout our meal). The food took absolutely ages and was clearly reheated basic pub grub; some of it was basically inedible. I think the reason it took ages was that the barman was also the person serving the food and seemed to be the only person on duty. It was proper Faulty Towers stuff. We then got the bill, which was pretty shocking. We've eaten out all week in St Andrews and had some great dining experiences; this bill was one of the most expensive of the weeks for basic reheated/microwaved poor quality food, no atmosphere and poor service. Terrible experience, and really strange given the rest of the hotel seems so well run. Steer clear.

We ate at the bar on our first night using an Itison voucher for fish and chips including a gin and tonic. Whilst the gin and tonics were good the portions of fish and chips that arrived were very small. What made matters worse was that the table opposite ordered fish and chips and theirs was twice the size of ours. It appears that the “good deal” from Itison isn’t a good deal if you get a half portion of fish. There better places elsewhere to eat in St Andrews such as Hotel Du Vin whose Itison deal is far superior!!

A group of 6 of us ate Sunday lunch here with an itison on voucher and it was a disappointing experience. Buffet items were not replenished timely so we were standing waiting on soup and later on desserts. Tasteless houmous but other salad items were fine and fresh, soup was ok, lovely bread. Sunday roast was very average with a small amount of wafer thin meat, roast potatoes that weren't crisp and stodgy Yorkshire puddings, everything served barely warm on cold plates. All the desserts were very good. The wine we asked for wasn't available which we felt should have been pointed out when were were given the drinks menu. Service was very pleasant and fairly prompt. This place could be so much better as it is in a prime position in one of our favourite places St Andrews but I'm afraid we will not be back.

Went today for my mums birthday with a itison voucher. Seated next to a piping hot radiator on a warm day was not the best start. The starters were a buffet style with soup, salads, meats and fish. The soup was actually decent and the salad was fine but my concern was that the shellfish and salmon was not on ice, next to the radiator and was still out 2 hours later when we left. Our order for mains and dessert was taken whilst still eating our starters, probably better to ask beforehand. We waited 30 minutes for our mains and the plates from our starters sat for 20 minutes, my partner and I had the fish and chips and it was rubbish. The fish was full of bones and the chips were like micro chips. My fish was cold in the middle. We had a drinks order taken when we were seated but were never asked again and the empties remained on our table until we left. For dessert I had the lemon curd, the sponge was rock solid and everyone else had the apple and berry crumble which has burnt. Even with a voucher this was a waste of money.

My husband and I dined here with the Itison voucher for Sunday lunch. The sample menu on Itison differed greatly from the menu available. The buffet had obviously been sitting for quite a while by the time we got to it...a lot of stuff had dried out. There was no indication as to what the soup was...and after tasting it, we were none the wiser...it was watery and very salty! We ordered a white wine, a pint and a bottle of still water, only to be told they had run out of mineral water but could offer tap water. The main course of roast beef was good...the tiniest dribble of gravy was disappointing though. Had anyone come to ask us if the meal was ok I'd have asked for more but no-one enquired. Pudding tasted lovely but the raspberry sponge had dried out after being cut into small pieces and the lemon curd had the strangest texture...half frozen, half gelatinous...in no way a curd! All in all, a big disappointment and at £26 for an Itison voucher for 2, barely worth it...most certainly wouldn't pay full price for it. All in all, it was a let down and not a dining experience that I would recommend.

My party of 12 had booked for lunch. Nice decor and although it was quite we assumed this was due to the time of day. We should of looked at the menu before booking as it was decidedly more expensive than we would normally be happy to pay for what is essentially "pub grub". It took 3.5hrs for us to be served and finished lunch despite the fact there was only one other party in the restaurant. Starters were on the whole ok although one of the party ordered the bread board and when it came out instead of oil and balsamic vinegar there was just 2 oil. When questioned we were told that they had ran out (!) of balsamic vinegar. We suggested that we would of liked to know this prior so we would of had the opportunity to order something else but this was met with a blank look. The fishcakes were nice but far too much dill in them which overpowered all other flavours. Main course was even worse. 2 of our party ordered the smoked haddock mac and cheese but when it came out it was the exact same as the childrens plain mac and cheese (which one of the children in our party had also ordered). We brought this to the restaurant's attention again there was no apology but they did agree not to charge us for those 2 adult meals. Very unsatisfying. Would never go back.

One of the worst places I have eaten at and overpriced for the quality. Bread board was just that, lumps of bread and butter/oil. No olives or well presented, burger ok but fish very disappointing. The batter was soggy and fish a grey colour! Nothing like the nice white flesh of the fish and chips at my local in Edinbuh that costs £5 less. And to finish it off, absolutely no atmosphere in this grey and dingy basement. I really can't find a positive in this establishment. There are plenty nice places to choose from in St Andrews and this isn't one of them.

Amazing as always. Food and drinks were delicious and the service was once again outstanding. All the staff are so attentive, friendly and on the ball. Huge shout out to Lucas our server who was such a lovely member of the team. Hands down my favorite pub in Dunfermline.

We were so disappointed that this once fantastic ice cream shop has now changed to ‘Mr Whippy’!! No flavour selection unless you chose the tubs mentioned in the previous review. My niece chose an Oreo milkshake which was OK at best and extremely overpriced at £6! Will not be back!
