Very disappointed. Wanted soup they said it wasn't ready yet 1.15pm!! I had a toasted teacake with homemade jam. Teacake barely toasted and homemade jam??? My friends both had roll with Haggis which again was undercooked both didn't eat it all. Cafe quite busy, won't be back.

It's a while since we visited here for lunch and I don't think we will be back any time soon. We both chose potato and leek soup - I love thick soup but to be honest it was more like potato stew. My husband chose the lunch deal and wanted a tuna pannini...no tuna left so he ordered ham and cheese..he couldn't see the ham and certainly couldn't taste it! I chose bread with my soup and it tasted like cheap bread with a strange taste. We were disappointed...the food was nothing like it was with the previous owner! The young girls serving were all pleasant and cheery, hence 3 stars instead of 2!

Once again went up to Townhill Loch cafe to find it shut. Surely she could let people know when she’s not open . She’s on Facebook so it wouldn’t take much effort. Much better when Marie ran it. Cake choice was better too.

Have visited the cafe on a few occasions, on last visit found it to be very expensive for what you are getting ,1 waffle with some nutella and a few strawberries £5.50 , same for waffle with bacon ,waffles were cold ,cafe was busy and no issues with the service but just don't think they can justify the prices they are charging for what you get ,for this reason we won't be returning.

We arrived and it was not too busy. They took our order and we waited, and waited. In the end I asked for a refund and they admitted that they had forgot on about us. We were the closest table to the counter. Shame we like to support small local cafes but we won’t be back

Five family members walked for some four hours around the loch and park, finishing up at the café absolutely famished. The place was clean and the staff friendly, but by the time we arrived they were running out of a lot of things on the menu – absolutely not the cafes fault, but just a note to other hungry travellers – get there early. The food and drinks were good, but I think slightly overpriced for what we got. Saying that, we would definitely use the café again if we were ever in the area.

This is more of a functional cafe than a destination cafe in terms of appearance and decor, but there's a good selection of sandwiches and toasties, the service is very good and the prices are excellent value. It's situated at Townhill Loch to the north of Dunfermline, which has plenty of car parking and a nice 1 miles circuit that's very popular for walkers, dogs and so on. The cafe also fronts onto the loch as you'd imagine given the name and location so you can enjoy watching waterskiing and also plenty of aquatic wildlife such as ducks and herons whilst you tuck in.

Ordered Mac and cheese on subsequent visit -- not as good. Macaroni was floating in cheese. Not the same as first visit so something changed there. I realize now they are a tad pricey at almost £7 for a panini with just bacon on it. Gets a bit crowded in cafe. Perhaps make seating more comfortable. Hard chairs. Perhaps install booths and have waitress take order at table and not have to stand in line so long. Great baking and very good cappuccinos!

What better way to spend your leisure time than a walk in Townhill Park rounded off with a seat by the loch side observing some of the best water skiers and wakeboarder in the world. This location is a hidden gem and the recent refurbishments have made it even more appealing. The facility is quite small but there is always a warm welcome. Staff are really pleasant and despite the size of the serving area there is a fair amount of choice. You may even be tempted to try one of the many aquatic sports available on the loch. Well worth a visit.

Went to the loch cafe to get something hot to eat eg soup or toasties something quick. When we arrived about 3,30 the staff were busy cleaning up although there was only another couple who were just finishing or just finished their meal. In the cafe and all the tables were cleared of dishes tables cleaned, we looked at the menu and went to order only to be told we couldn't get anything hot other than tea/coffee as they shut at 4pm it takes a few mins to put soup in a microwave and heat it up this service wasn't offered everything had been cleaned up and they weren't prepared to deal with customers other than give them mainly cake/ tea/coffee as long as it didn't involve having to clean any equipment. As i said the cafe shuts at 4 but does not cater for customers who turn up at 3.30 wanting something hot to eat. They should have a better customer relations if they shut at 4 they should be prepared to clean up once they have shut not half a hour or more before hand and if you have customers in you should be prepared to stay till they have finished 5 /10 mins is not going to do any harm to keep the customers happy not the poor attitude of 4 pm out the door. This is summer months when staying a little later for customers would go along way to boost the cafe.

Cannot be faulted for location. On Townhill Loch, home of Scottish Water Ski Centre. Light meals and snacks. Good outside seating area with brilliant views of Loch and water skiers. Only downside is the coffee. Very weak and tasteless. I have visited twice recently and have been disappointed both times. First visit I asked for a Flat White and received a very frothy latte. Next visit, I played safe and asked for an Americano and received a very weak, watery coffee. Please, Please, do not spoil an otherwise lovely place by selling poor quality coffee !

This is a lovely wee cafe. It's a bit off the beaten path but great for coffee and cake after walking round the loch or surrounding woods. During the better weather there's a decking overlooking the loch to sit outside and watch the water skiers from the adjacent ski centre and the ducks bobbing on the bow wave. It's family run and the staff are really nice. As said in another review it's not the cheapest and hasn't put us off from being regulars for the couple of years, not any more expensive than Costa or Starbucks but much better.

I drop in to the Café periodically for a light lunch. The food is mainly, perhaps even exclusively, home produced and tastes fresh and flavoursome. There is a reasonably varied menu with soups, sandwiches and cakes. The soups are delicious and the macaroni and cheese up there with the best. The café caters at certain times of the year, for the water skiers, but throughout the year mainly for the locals who are out for a walk round the loch. I think this is a great little café, staffed by extremely pleasant and attentive staff who go that extra mile for you. There's nothing "posh" about this place, but it's great value for money and well worth a visit...or more.

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
