Me my self got a chicken fillet supper with a side of gravy to dip my delicious chicken in to. My friend got scampi supper . Food was 5 * Service was 5 * Value was 5 * Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work team.

Poor attention to detail. Ordered via the phone and collected. Got home and one part of the order missing. Phoned them up to complain, best they could do it cover the missing part next time we are in. So result is what we ordered has to cover one more person who lost out!

Top notch, generous haddock & chips. No long wait - not crowded. Extensive menu. Sure everything is good!

This is a great chipper. White and red puddings, chips and service all very good. Prices about average. Definitely recommend.

Food delicious, I had a white pudding supper and my wife had the chicken fillets which were massive and equally as tasty. Came to around £13 which I thought was great value for what we got. Will definitely be back. It’s cash only but cash point very close.

This is the best fish and chip shop in Aberdeenshire. The prices are very reasonable, the quality great, the staff helpful and the portions huge. What's more to say.

Quite a long time to wait. People coming in after us were always getting theirs first. When we did eventually get it the chips were ok but the batter on the fish was soggy and undercooked on the inside. Won’t go back, much better chippers in the area.

Always worth a visit when in the area. Great batter on the food and decent sized portions. Jumbo sausages all round and a great warm meal with the cold outside.

Very impressed with this chippie. The chips were fresh and crisp,not greasy and the batter on the fish was awesome....My friend ordered the chicken fillets,they looked and tasted fantastic, with a portion big enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites....

A great chipper in the small town of Oldmeldrum. Friendly staff, everything freshly cooked, it's worth the wait. Fantastic decent sized fish and fresh chicken fillets (6 to a portion)

Have used Meldrum Fish Bar several times and has always been good. It is always busy so advise to phone ahead to place an order.

Food always excellent. Chicken fillets are proper homemade ones and are delicious! Have them every time. Can be busy and take a while to answer phone when ordering but worth the wait

The worst chipper I’ve been too such rude staff they stand about and gossip you have to wait a long time before getting your order taken and when I got it home I found a hair in my king rib and my girls chicken teddy’s were stone cold and we all felt sick I couldn’t even eat mine definitely won’t be going back would not recommend it!

My wife, daughter and I had been up at Ellon for a tour of the Brewdog brewery and decided to just get something from the Meldrum Fish Bsr rather than cook when we got home; it was after 8:00 pm when we left Ellon.

Great value chip shop. Had a chicken fillets supper and the portion size was huge and was struggling to finish. It was cooked fresh to order so a short wait but definitely worth it. Had a family member who was visiting from Australia and they always look forward to a chippie when over here and they thought the white pudding was delicious. Also had a portion of onion rings which must have been at least one large onion and was glad we were all sharing this as it was a meal in itself. Chips were well cooked and not too greasy at all. Would recommend here to anyone.

Stopped after a long journey to quench our need for sustenance and kinda wish we hadn't. My black pudding was solid and had been sitting a while. Not for me, not for me

Never normally have to wait too long to be served, and the food is well cooked and tasty. Well priced too, great for the occasional treat. ;)

No sé lo que estaba ocurriendo anoche, pero no era usual de servicio o la costumbre personal, fueron muy grosero y poco servicial. Teníamos dos comidas y un niños filetes de pollo y las patatas fritas que tienen fotos de las horrendas filetes de pollo que eran de roca sólida y no ha comido. No fue una experiencia agradable

He estado aquí unas cuantas veces en el pasado y nunca deja de asombrarme! Vinimos aquí la otra noche fue recibido por un chico joven y enseguida nos preguntó qué queríamos un poco entusiasta, pero sí un gran servicio. Tuvimos buenas bromas con el personal mientras esperábamos... unos 10 minutos era una orden era grandecillo! La comida era estupenda y recién cocinado. Recomendaría este paso chippy a cualquiera! oldmeldrum

Chicken Goujons are amazing. Parking nearby. Good service, and can phone in your order and then just pick it up.

We drive past our closest chippy to go here which tells you a lot. Service is always above and beyond and food quality is best in the area. We find the fish always a1 and genuinely can't beat the value for money. Always busy and food cooked fresh so you might have a short wait but always found it worth it .

I find nowadays that few chippies deserve 5 star reviews and this one is the same. Nothing special but better than most in the area. Service was good, fish was okay, chips were okay.Read here about their lack of smiles etc. but I found them to be very polite and attentive.

Its our local chipper but it says it all when I would rather drive a few miles to get a chipper from Inverurie. Some of the staff are lovely but for the remainder, customer service is lacking and to be honest, downright rude. A smile doesn't hurt.Food is ok but I can get better.Don't bother trying to phone in an order- they never answer the phone.Some folk would say crowded was good sign but it is the only chipper in Meldrum so its a captive audience and part of the reason it is so crowded is that it can take at least 15 minutes to be asked for your order.

Tonight my husband and I ordered two suppers from the fish bar. My husband ordered a small sausage supper for me, and a jumbo sausage for himself. When he got the food home I found out that I'd been given a smoked sausage instead. This was disappointing as I had been looking forward to my sausage supper. The chips were tasty though.

Amazing chip shop. Food is delicious! We travel 20 miles just to come here! Worth it though. Chicken fillets are fab.

Used this fish n chip shop during the week, had to wait, very tired premises, and when I got it I was disappointed as the chips not good and sausage swimming in fat. Most of it went in the bin

Amazing fish and chips. Always busy really popular place. This is not an actual restaurant but a take away and one of the best, I would say, in the North East.

As we did not know when we would be eating on Friday evenng, we decided that we should have a carry-out. As things seemed to have improved at the local chipper, I went there rather than travel to Inverurie. I had my usual fish supper which was again first class; plenty chips and lovely crispy batter (bang goes the diet). My wife had chicken fillets with chips. I can vouch that the fillets were excellent as her portion was too much for her and, being a mix of Aberdonian and Paisley Buddie, I hate waste so finished it for her.As most meals are cooked to order, there is a wait which I expected . However, in this instance the order in front of me was substantial - I think at least 8 meals. This meant a wait of 25 minutes as there were only 2 staff serving. This place always appears busy so perhaps they could take on extra staff at weekends. Having said that, the wait was worth it and would not put me off going back.

We needed a early, quick dinner while in Oldmedrum so opted for fish & chips. It was a Saturday evening so it was quite busy and we had to wait about 10minutes while the fish was cooked to order. I'd rather do that and have nice fresh fish than something that's been sitting kept warm for ages! The fish had a lovely crispy batter and it was a good sized portion of chips. Reasonably priced too I thought. We ate them on the benches in the square across the road!

After a busy week we decided that a visit to the chipper was in order. We both had Fish & Chips; My wife had said she might have Sausage & Chips but the sausages in the hot cabinet looked as if they had been there for some time.The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter was lovely and crisp. The chips were not in the least soggy and were nice and chunky (with a few crispy ones thrown in for good measure) and a decent portion. Price very reasonable.A bit of a wait as your meal is usually cooked to order but this ensures that it is fresh although they did have one or two items in the hot cabinet. Whilst I was waiting another customer ordered a large portion of chips. What he was served looked to me to have been enough for two! Must remember that.Although my initial experience of the Meldrum Fish Bar was disappointing, all subsequent visits have been good and I shall use it again.

The title is no exaggeration, 6 plump, juicy, crispy battered chicken fillets and a huge portion of chips makes this the best chip supper I've ever tasted. Try it and you'll never want to go anywhere else.

Myself and my partner have only had a couple of takeaways from here, the first time when we were moving into our house 4 years ago and once again in October 2014. We thought that this would be an ideal takeaway as we are only 5 minutes away but we're disappointed by the quality of the produce and the service, it was quite late on in the evening so we put it down to tired staff and food that had been in the counter tops for most of the evening. We may have waited a few years to try again but neither the service or the food were any different. Even lashings of ketchup could not cover the taste! We won't be back!

Nothing special but nothing bad. Quality is fine and it's probably better value than its local competition but, just like other Scottish chippies, it's expensive compared to England and there is the same "you can have whatever type of fish you like so long as it's haddock".I've never waited overly long and, overall, no complaints. Local parking is VERY hit and miss though.

Good reasonable food but they don't answer the phone so why have a phone number, dissaspointed. Say I will be there in 20 minutes and order not even started. The extra wait adds to your hunger which may be a ploy to make the meals taste better

Went for fish and chips last week to find 6 staff behind the counter! Even though I was the only new customer, with one other waiting, I had to wait 5+ mins for other orders to cook and be served before anyone even asked what I wanted. I am very happy to wait for fish to be cooked fresh but why can't one of the staff take orders and payment as people arrive? Someone else could then put the fish to cook - meaning faster service to you hungry customers. My old chippy used this system with just 3 staff. Come on Meldrum you can do better especially if you're paying the wages of so many staff.

Passed through oldmeldrum on Saturday after visiting huntly and decided to have a chipper. Boyfriend went in and bought two portions of chips, £2.90. Well, I've never seen such a huge bag of chips in all my life! Enough to feed an army. They were delicious, freshly cooked and crispy. Truly gobsmacked at the price and the quantity and quality. If you are hungry definitely go to oldmeldrum for a chippy.

As a plain everyday chipper this one does very good fish and chips indeed. Fresh Haddock of decent size [suspect fillets around 8oz in old money. ] with good crisp and quite light batter. As deep fried stuff goes it's remarkably un-greasy indicating careful attention to oil/fat quality, temperature and timing. Usual range of other chipper delights like mock chop, chicken etc etc.Chips ;like the fish are light, crispy and again not greasy. Stuff cooked to order so waiting time generally the time it takes to cook your order - or at least the batch it's in.

I enjoyed the beautiful fish and chips here. The only let down was I bought a bottle of mayonnaise costing £2! But when we checked the date after using the small bottle, we found it was 2 months out of date!

Although living in Meldrum, we usually travel to Inverurie for fish suppers owing to a previous bad experience with the chips served at that time by the Meldrum Fish Bar. Being a bit tired after driving home from Strathdon after an energetic Friday night at the Lonach Ball, we checked recent reviews on Tripadvisor and, as a result, decided to give Meldrum Fish Bar another chance after a long absence.A good sign on arrival - the shop was very busy. The staff were efficient and the fish suppers were very good. No complaints about the chips this time and the prices were reasonable. Although not the best fish supper in the area, the batter was nice and crispy and I will have no hesitation in going back to Meldrum Fish Bar

A good fish & chip shop. Not quite the best I've ever tasted, but above average I'd say (although the mushy peas were really quite runny). Menu just the same as any chipper in Scotland, and the prices too. Service not too quick, but it was Friday evening so probably their busiest time.

Local Fresh produce. Dillan has an excellent memory for youre order. Truly great Fish Suppers. The batter is yummy

Title sums it up really but this place is consistent when it comes to these standards. Not been here in a while but exactly as I remembered it. The food is perfectly cooked and the seem to get their batter recipe perfect. Prices exactly what you would expect, not cheap but not expensive. Simply good value for money. The one area they do excel on is service. Young lad serving when I phoned in and collected the order and found it refreshing to get a high standard of customer service. This place is just great all round although if I had one criticism the chip portions as part of a supper are a bit small but this is A tiny issue which I solve by ordering one extra portion of chips to split between us all.

A small concern, but we went in Sept and had a lovely fish supper, but this time it was very very greasy and the chips looked as if they had been fried at least 3 times previously

Even though there's a takeaway in Pitmedden where I stay, it's never managed to supply anything more than "ok" food. Really fancied a decent takeaway so thought I'd give this place a try as was only 4 miles or so away from my house. All the items in the holding cabinet looked lovely but opted for a fish supper (the test of a good chippy). Served by a young lad and The service was polite and friendly. Even after the short drive home the food was still roasting and very tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was a equally as good. Chips again I couldn't fault and a perfect portion size. You wouldn't walk in and think, oooh this is a lovely takeaway by the decor but clearly their focus is on quality and service.

We have our supper out most Fridays and usually end up here as it's our favourite for a quick meal, although can be very busy on a Friday supper time and can be queued out the door.

Huge portions, cheery staff and good value. Nice curry sauce too! Batter always nice and chips are never too greasy.

When driving through Old Meldrum we stumbled upon this establishment, we were looking for somewhere to have a sit down meal but given the decent weather we decided that it would be good to have an "old fashioned" takeaway chip supper. What a good choice, we took up the establishments choice of chicken fillets and chips, they were great value, hot and a great big helping. Good size menus, reasonable prices and my only concern was the tops worn by the three serving staff. Given the displayed food hygiene certificates for them I would have thought that clean workwear would have been worn. I realise it is a hard dirty job but at 5.30pm the tops shouldn't have been in the state that I saw. Clean up your act.

Excellent chicken fillets and fish supper had a bit of a wait even at 7 in the evening as there were so many customers, however, a good sign of quality meals being served

My mother in-law always says how good the Chicken Fillets are, one night while vising we all went there and the chicken fillets are the best Ive had, massive portion, small price!i dont need to say anymore!!

White pudding and onion rings were ordered and cooked freshly while I waited. Nothing had been lurking in the warmer for hours. The batter on the white pudding was crispy and the pudding was a fat one. The portion of onion rings was not the frozen breaded kind but hand made dipped in batter. The portion was a meal in itself.I will be back
