Brilliant food, warm atmosphere, and friendly staff. (Didn't stay over, so I can't comment on the rooms)

Staff didn’t write down our order, asked for brown bread with soup and sandwich and received white instead. Service was rubbish too

Was in for lunch today , was very disappointed, Cullen skink soup£6.95 was only half a ladle of soup and 2 slices of bread. Been here lots of times before and always be satisfied. Did complain when I paid but woman was not interested, was too busy talking to another customer about her going home soon. Won’t be going back.

Excellent home cooking at a very good price. Pleasantly served very quickly. Great for supper through the week or a roast dinner at the weekend.

Went for New Year’s Day with my partners family. Was a really good 3 course meal. The food is always really good only thing I’d say is the servers need to check up on their guests more to make sure they are okay and have enough beverages. We had to go to the bar 3 times for more drinks.

Visited for Sunday Lunch and we both had the £9.99 3 Course Menu. The staff were friendly and efficient. Food was served quickly and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Even our 10 month old enjoyed her little bowl of Macaroni! It's always busy here which is an indication of how good it is. Thanks.

The public bar of the Waverley Hotel has the Spartan and generally unadorned decor I tend to associate with Scottish hotel public bars. There is no attempt at trendy pub fashion, and bars like this are unashamedly no more than functional drinking rooms. And to be perfectly honest, I found it a refreshing change and we enjoyed sitting at the bar for a pleasant pint while other likeminded folk did the same. We enjoyed good banter, and with good service, good beer and some decent music from the speakers it was very pleasant indeed. For an uncomplicated, lazy pint, this is a very good bar. Oh - and they also do Scampi in a basket - retro or what?

We went to the Waverley for our evening meal with son-in-law and his daughter. I had the battered haddock and chips. The fish was among the best I have ever eaten, plump and succulent in crispy batter, served with what were homemade chips. WOW!! Definitely worth another visit and very reasonably priced. Recommended without hesitation.

When for my sons birthday, ages ranging from 9 months - 50+ was very pleasantly surprised, great choice of menu, fantastic price, friendly staff, have quite a few deals on ( was lunchtime we went) all in all would definitely be returning.

Stayed there for one night and will use again. Walked past the bar at the side of the hotel and was quickly asked by the locals outside "Are you staying the night, come on in for a party!" (I did and had great time) Very friendly place and great value for money, ok it's not the ritz but everything was clean and tidy. Good service and a plentiful breakfast in the morning.

Värsta stället vi besökt på länge då de först och främst försökte lura oss och säga att att vi blev serverade kolja (vilket vi hade beställt) när det i själva verket var rödspätta. Dessutom fick vi in pommes frites när vi hade beställt kokt potatis, och när vi bad om notan kom de in med notan till våra bordsgrannar istället som just hade börjat äta sin mat! Allt var så slarvigt och otrevligt så det fick oss att vilja lämna Peterhead så fort som möjligt och aldrig mer återvända!

Fish still frozen in the middle And inedible overcooked veg just horrible . Frozen reheats not worth the money

Good food at good prices. Typical pub food, with home made traditionals as standard. There were 6 of us on a Friday 5.30pm reservation. Teenage daughter lives this place and always has the chicken curry, half rice and half chips, hubby had the same and plates were cleared. 2 if us had the scampi and chips(struggled to eat all of it). My mum had the small fish (It's plenty), including 3 x side dishes, 6 x main meals, 1 x sweet and 6 x drinks £65/£70 was a good deal. With 2 for £10 and 2 for £12.50 deals, you can't go wrong. Returned here with family for an evening meal. Being a Monday was quiet so our orders quickly taken and drinks and food soon in the table. Well cooked and tasty, good service all round

Booked weeks before for mother’s day ...arrrived one time ...was greeted and met and table was pointed out to us ....waitress arrrived took drinks order...waitress arrived to take meals order then had a wait of 50 mins for starter ..which then lead to a delay in all meals ie main course , sweet ...then at 2.30 while finishing off drinks etc was told to leave table right away as others customers were waiting on table ....which I found quite rude as it’s because of delay from service that caused our delay ....won’t be booking again !

Stayed recently for 5 weeks at a nearby guest house and regularly went for dinner here. Tried just about everything on the menu!! Staff are lovely. Young girl brown hair tried up in ponytail sorry didnt catch her name. Stunning nails was working Thursday 7th March. Very friendly helpful and lovely smile. Only comment is alot of young staff who need to stop talking about the weekend and hanging about doing nothing on their phones. Doesnt look good. Food is exceptional!!! Hats off to the chefs. Only thing i didnt like was mince & tatties very mushy mince like a tesco ready meal.

Giveen vouchers for a meal so went this evening for the first time in awhile. Had a lovely hot meal, well cooked and speedily served. Looking forward to using second voucher.

What can I say went foe a Xmas meal and was expecting a bit of festive cheer, no crackers in table no music and no atmosphere. Food was bland. Friend had the beef which was as tough as old boots and stringy very disappointing. Waverley used to be a nice place to go but has went downhill. Such a shame.

Hotel very basic, found the staff EXTREMELY rude. One lady who was short with short brown hair tied up was very rude and very sarcastic! Not sure how she has ended up with a customer service role, as far as I am concerned she should be in the back where she is not dealing with any customers at all! When we arrived the same lady was very rude and not welcoming at all, put us off even staying the night in the first place. Had a knock on the door close to check out telling us 'mind check oot is 10', a simple knock on the door and a POLITE reminder would have been sufficient enough instead of shouting through the door. Definitely will not be staying here again and would not recommend.

Took my Mum out for dinner, we were the first ones in. Service was great, food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Drinks are well priced and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. A family favourite now.

Couldn't be bothered cooking so over here we came food was magic though.the staff have always been nice and friendly well done see you soon

We visited the Waverley after a spur of the moment decision to head into town. After hearing good reviews we decided here would be a good choice.

Go with friends weekly to this local restaurant.not much atmosphere but it is fantastic value for money with home cooking at a very reasonable price .Favourites such as mince and tattles ,fish and chips and steak pie.

I hadn’t been to the Waverley for a while, went for lunch on Saturday, it was a treat, they’ve changed their menu, still have the offers & they’ve added traditional favourites to the menu, I prefer it that way as I sometimes thought the two for £10 was small portions

A large family group went for an evening meal which was quickly served, hot and extreme tasty. Lots of different dishes. Staff were so helpful,and friendly so a very enjoyable meal.

Ordered 2 meals on the 2x £12.50 deal to takeaway, only to be charged full price when paying and told that the deal is valid only when sitting in. I checked and the menu makes no mention of this. I could understand a takeaway-only offer but it doesn't logically make sense to be sit-in only, which surely costs them more. Service was poor and the food wasn't that great either.

You can get 2 for £10 meals etc and everything comes hot . Good atmosphere and welcomes families. Staff are friendly.

Arrived at around 1630hrs. Place was fairly busy, but not too noisy. We both had a nice meal with drinks. If you are looking for a cheap, but good meal (pub grub) then this is the place. Staff are friendly and helpfully polite. Thank You

Me encantaba el Waverly que nunca cambian su menú. Usted podría decidir lo que quieres antes de dejar la casa. Siempre es de zanahoria y guisantes para hortalizas s. Que en la tierra quiere zanahorias con pescado (asco) siente es una opción más fácil

We go to Waverley quite regularly if we have family visiting. Its ok if you are after some traditional quick food in nice environment , however last few visits where a bit disappointing . Staff are really nice but the food... couple of times our orders got messed up , the chicken was really hard and my garlic sauce was some shredded cloves and olive oil which garlic separated and lied on the bottom of the dish.

Had family visiting so went here for dinner. Used the Dining Room as quiet and cannot commend the staff enough for fast friendly service. Flood was hot and well cooked and thoroughly enjoyed

Meal was just average.Staff need training in customer relations,Not too welcolming in fact, seem to have ignored our presence for a good few minutes after our arrival.

Went for tea here for Mother's Day. Six adults and two small children. Used the separate room away from the bar, staff were so helpful in ordering drinks and meals and sweets. The food was well cooked and really enjoyed. Service was first class.

The food is ok, it is low cost so you pay for what you get and cant complain. The staff look like they cant wait to get home and are never polite to customers. If the staff just smiled then would make it alot more welcoming.

Stopped in for some lunch. Although it was busy and we hadn't booked, we were seated immediately. The staff were friendly and the service was good. Good portion sizes and not long to wait. Would definitely eat here again.

We booked a table for 6pm and on arrival found it extremely busy with Christmas parties. Despite this we were served at once and our food order was speedily delivered. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good snd very tasty. Handy car park at rear so accessible easily.

The breaded fish and chips was outstanding and big portion. Shows all football down stairs and a decent pool table, definitely be back.

Nach dreiwöchiger Schottlandrundreise hatte wir nur einmal wirklich schlecht gegessen, im Waverley Hotel in Peterhead. Ungemütliches Lokal mit schlechtem, unfreundlichen Service. Die Hauptgerichte waren gänzlich ungewürzt, das labbrige Gemüse kam direkt aus der Dose und die Chips passten zum Gesamteindruck! Das Fleisch war hart und ebenfalls geschmacklos. Die auf den Tischen bereit stehenden Fertigsaucen waren keine geschmackliche Bereicherung! Bemerkenswert im negativen Sinn ist noch das Blechgeschirr auf dem die Speisen serviert werden.

We arrived in Peterhead on a Monday night and needed somewhere for dinner as we were staying at a guesthouse (no meal option). After scanning TripAdvisor online and then walking down to the harbour and up Broad Street - we settled on the Waverley Hotel. It seemed to be the only place open on our walk and as a hotel/pub we could be sure of at least a good simple meal. The restaurant was steady and looked to be customised by locals. The range of options on the menu was good and the house Shiraz rather nice. One of us had the haddock (crumbed) and chips which came with peas and carrots. The other had the beef stew with oatmeal filling and a pastry piece for mopping up the juice (note - do NOT expect a pie). The stew also came with carrots and peas. If you get in before 19:00 on a Monday night there is a special 2 for 1 offer (we didn't) - but I thought it was still good value. Approx $21 for 2 mains, 4 glasses of wine and one shared dessert. Dessert options are standard but good. Service was friendly and on point.

Lovely wee hotel in Peterhead offering warmth and comfort with good food. My only critical point is the lack of a bath opposed to a shower but how many other hotels are like that. Nice to find a hotel that doesnt capitalise on the oil industry of the north east. Thankyou.

Went for a quick lunch and enjoyed the food, it's cheap and cheerful here. Ordered a side dish which never came and no one returned to ask if the meal was ok. Wasn't charged for it so just left it. Otherwise it was a good lunch experience.

Very good pub grub with a fast service and nice area to dine. Lots of selections to chose from with a fair few specials as well. Deserts not to my taste too much but that might just be me....

After a visit to Peterhead jail museum,7 of us turned up about 3pm! friendly staff excellent meal, with soooo much to choose from & all of it such good value & hearty portions! will deffo be back to try something else! by the time we left it was turning people away as it was booked solid!

After a visit to Peterhead prison museum we decided to have lunch at the Waverley.I had the prawn cocktail the Marie Rose sauce was lovely and tangy this was followed by the chicken curry. My wife had the soup and sandwich combo ample portions and good value. Friendly and polite staff.. Will be back.

Arrived for lunch with family after a wait to been get waitress to show us to table we then had to wait a further 20 mins to have our order taken to then have to again another 30mins to receive one portion of prawns 4 in total at the cost of nearly £5 I then asked waitress to bring up rest of our order as we had waited long enough .Only to be served a cheese toastie that had a sprinkling of cheese further to add insult to injury on further checking toastie on the under side of bread the toastie had been cut clearly on a surface that had tuna on it .Asked waitress to take it away and stated we would not be paying for it Totally shocked at length of time we had to wait and quality .

The menu is broad, the quantity and quality of the food good, the welcome pleasant and the value for money excellent. The surroundings are a bit dour but this restaurant doesn't pretend to be anything other than a good budget option. We will definitely go again.

We had a lovely meal here on Sunday. Service was quick too. Usually very busy at peak times. We went around 4pm, so the place was not too busy. Meals are served all day.If you are looking for reasonably priced, hearty food, this is the place for you.

Will often meet with a large group for dinner or lunch and the 2 for £10 offer is just the best when there is alot of us. Don't expect fine dining but large portions and hot food make all the difference.

Been to Waverley few times in the past. Visited again for lunch with a friend. One thing that can't b disputed is value for money. Great prices! One thing was though we felt a bit rushed, we just got in the door and sat down and were asked what we wanted to order - we hadn't even looked yet. Overall, nice food

Twin room for the night, the room looked ok on arrival. Went down for some tea and it was literally the worst meal i have ever had, Not because of any mistakes made but just on the quality of the food the chargrilled pork tasted like sum1 had rubbed their tounge with coal then licked the piece of ovencooked pork ,didnt eat it all and went to bed hungry. Once in bed there was constant banging through the night and from between 5-8am it was like there was a lumberjack downstairs honing his craft, id say it was the chef prepping the food but i know that isnt true. Avoid at all costs. Travel an hour to aberdeen or do a 4 hour barefoot hike rather than stay here.

Had a great meal here today (again) Great value for money. We were disappointed with the service though. We had hardly sat down when we were asked what we wanted to drink, moments later were we ready to order! Our drinks arrived, shortly after our starters were flung in front of us. Then came the main meal again flung rather than placed. No one enquired whether the meal was ok or if we required more drinks! Sat for ages without a drink (could quite easily hear the waitresses round the corner) no one came near us. We decided to leave, however we were planning on having more drinks. Can't praise the food enough, pity the service on this occasion didn't match :(

Great choice on the menu, plenty of deals like 2 for £10 etc.. quick service ( a bit to quick).. food hot and very appetising my only criticism would be as soon as we sat down with the menu the girl asked were we ready to order, a little customer service skill and patience wouldn't go a miss, I'm only young and felt rushed so I think the older people would feel worse

A friend and I visited the restuarant in the Waverly for a quick lunch and were not disappointed. We had not pre booked but the friendly waitress managed to get us a table and took our order right away. Within minutes our meal was served, my friend had chicken Maryland and I had steak pie. Both meals were served with vegetables and chips and were first class. The cost of the meal was 10 pounds, five pounds each meal and was certainly value for money. Will definitely return.

Este hotel, nem de hotel se deveria chamar, parece mais um palheiro. O Staff é rude, mal-educado e antipático, a internet nunca funcionou durante três dias, A comida até que escapa, e está num nível superior ao do hotel, mas o staff que estraga tudo. Quanto ao quarto que fiquei, estava imundo, com lixo na carpete, e na casa de banho, a televisão é super pequena, e não tente dormir, quando o vizinho do lado estiver a tomar banho, pois é um ruido insuportável! E não tem recepcionista! Se Peterhead, não fosse tão frio no Inverno, seria preferivél dormir na rua. Onde estão as autoridades? Só lá fiquei a segunda noite, porque foi reservado pela minha entidade patronal!

I had turkey with all the trimmings great value and vey tasty would definitely recommend going for supper, I had the steak pie the last time I was here no complaints will definitely be back

Visited today for an excellent and very filling lunch. At 2 mains for £12.50 is was really good value. There was no way either my wife or I could finish the very large helping. Neither of us able for a sweet. Food was good and we will definitely return. Could eat out with friends and it won't break the bank.

Went twice to Waverley whilst staying in PTD. Good service, good portions and good value for money. Nothing fancy. Mostly peas and carrots boiled pots or chips. Comfortable surroundings.

Good old pub grub! Heaped plates, efficient service. Never made to feel hurried after you are finished your meal. If you are after proper home cooked food with no frills then look no further. Chicken fillets are in proper batter, portion is huge and they are delicious. The staff are always happy to check for allergens (daughter is on a dairy free diet)

Good, plain food at a very reasonable price. You can get 2 courses for 2 people for £15. Sandwich and soup for less than a fiver.surroundings not luxurious but clean. Service pleasant.

It may not be fine dining but you need to judge it on what it is aimed at. This place is excellent value for money, great for families! You get what is a good meal (not fancy but tasty!) at great prices! With their 2 for £10 offer we fed 4 adults and a child with drinks for £28!

Excellant value for money.Cant go wrong with 2 for £10. Well worth it. Chicken marylands great as is chicken with bbq sauce, fish, scampi etc. Infact everythings tasty.

Regularly visit the Waverley as you get good food for reasonable prices including some good deals including two meals for a tenner. Although there is a very large selection, and a great selection for kids, so therefore something for everyone, I am glad to see there is a specials board to keep things from becoming repetitive and boring. Only downside is sometimes some of the waitresses could be a little more polite and professional - a smile costs nothing!

Had a 2 course evening meal with drinks totalling £38 for 4 adults.Menu choice was extensive with offers of 2 main courses for either £10 or £12.50. Sweets were 2 for £5.Sole mornay was delicious,lovely cheese sauce & served with potatoes/chips & selection of veg. Creme brulee really good.Very friendly helpful staff,will definitely be back.
