The Ashvale Inverurie in Aberdeenshire

Something so simple as fish and chips.. Called and tried to place an order! So simple? Apparently not! Told to use the website which I couldn't decipher.. Went elsewhere instead! What ever happened to to customer friendly? Never again!

Best fish chips staff are great.

Great food as usual but took the whale challenge on, accomplished it within 20minutes , never got asked if I wanted the free second or sweet. Apart from that a good atmosphere and service

King rib supper..single white and a some sausage inn batter...plus a curry sauce 😋 smashed it ..

Welcoming staff, clean and presentable and excellent food, we all tried something different from the menu and everyone enjoyed their meals, the portions were generous even the kids meals! The fish and chips was amazing, not greasy at all and the curry sauce had a lovely tingle! Would definitely recommend, next time we are back in town we will definitely think about returning 😍👍

Consistently good quality food.

Not what it used to be. £3.50 for a small portion of chips to make my chicken fillets a supper. Chicken fillets are not what they used to be. Small, processed shape, tasteless and not sure what the coating is. Not breaded or battered. £8.50 total.

Had fish and chips here yesterday fish was awful soft batter like rubber not many chips either they were dry as sticks very disappointed l complainted to the staff l didnt think the fish was fresh it should be very white and flake off it came apart in lumps total waste of money for 2 people price.They need to review that chef 4.30pm on the 24th of November public not willing to pay for that for that standard l would not recommend.

I came with my grandson food was delicious staff were polite friendly and professional l would recommend this restaurant to others.

Fish was not fresh. Too dodgy to even give to the dog. They did not reply to my complaint about it. Taken my custom elsewhere since. Its gone down the hill. That's not how to keep customers.

Fish could have been cooked a little longer as the batter was a bit soggy.

I came today at 12 o'clock for lunch it was delicious the chips were so good l asked for a few more Kayden the young waiter was pleasant and polite the chef is doing a very good job well done l would recommend this restaurant to others.

Simply a great place for no fuss excellent fish and chips. The portions are generous and the staff attentive but not fussy.

We had never been to this Ashvale before. We had always been to the original restaurant in Aberdeen.. The Inverurie one is much smaller but clean and nicely decorated. The haddock in breadcrumbs was absolutely delicious. I felt the chips and tinned peas let it down somewhat

Great lunch deal for those not wanting a heavy meal, and good value. Not sure if the fish is fresh or frozen but it tasted really good, if you are looking for a quick bite and a good price go here. Staff were really great too, nothing too much trouble.

Food has just degraded over the years but the staff are nice it's just the food which is the hole reason you buy from here. Would also not recommend the take away. It's never been good

The food was substandard, the chips were disgusting, not a single chip was free of black bits, crazy when your whole business runs on selling fish and chips! The mushy peas weren’t good either, £15 for a standard haddock! The “milkshakes” were just some sort of flavoured foam, there’s no way they had any ice cream in them, they weren’t even cold! Also £3 for a can of Sprite is daylight robbery! We definitely won’t be back.

Visited laat night. Purchased Jumbo sausage and chips. Chips were overcooked. I think they were the end of the batch. Definitely shouldn't have been served to customers. When I went back they didn't care. 😔

Takeaway fish and chips just right. Young man serving was excellent. A real bonus to your business.

Haven't been here for a while and it has had a makeover in the meantime. One of us went for the Tea Time Flyer, which offers a choice of popular main courses (haddock in this case) with chips, sides (mushy peas in this case), a pot of tea and bread and butter for £16.50. Very good value at today's prices. The second person took the "reduced portion" TTF (amusingly titled on the receipt as an OAP haddock) and was chuffed to discover the fish was not that much smaller, the portions of chips and (garden) peas did not seem very reduced, and the bread and butter and tea matched their big cousins equally in size and quality ... all-in price, this time, £12.95. The food came very quickly, everything was fresh and clean, and the service from Chloe was pleasant, helpful and skilled. We felt very welcome and well-fed. The toilets were very clean and well-stocked with toilet paper etc. This Ashvale now includes old pictures of different times in the restaurant's place, just off the town square. Fascinating to see the changes in place and the way people dressed and were transported. One of the pictures has been turned into a whole-wall mural at the back, where the door to the toilet is. This was fascinating and a great idea, except for one small thing... the signs for the toilets are small and perched above the door because part of the mural is actually on the door. We could see why this was done and we were OK with it because we'd been before (and we loved the bigger picture). However, at busy times, it might be difficult to spot the facilities. It you are reading this in the restaurant, it's the door in the middle of the mural! Fabulous experience for a quick early dinner. Forgot to check when the TTF finishes, but we were there around tea time. Hope that helps.

A shout out to the wonderful staff who helped me and my aunt when she fell on leaving the Ashvale yesterday. They couldn't do enough for us, it was really appreciated thankyou.

My Aunt and I had a super lunch, easily the best fish and chips in the area. On our way out my Aunt took a tumble and hurt her shoulder in the fall. The staff were fantastic; really kind and helpful, providing a chair for my aunt and keeping us supplied with drinks until the ambulance arrived. Thanks for all your help.

First time in Scotland and the fish and chips (fries) were pretty good. I've never had fish and chips before but they were definitely good. Service was fast and friendly.

Just coming back from a Aberdeen game needed grub. Needed a Quality chippy

Fish batter was soggy by the time I arrived home. Won't take an order over the phone even though there was only one person in front of me, ordering at the counter.

A really nice surprise. Menu was varied, Food was excellent. Service was excellent and extremely fast. The person serving was very pleasant and made sure everything was ok.

Jumbo fish supper and everything was soggy, I did all the tricks to keep it crispy (no vinegar until home and kept the plastic bag open) and still wet as anything when I got home (5 min drive). Flavour was okay but texture was almost unbearable.

We had lunch here the fish was a big thick lump Cream which indicates its not fresh should be white and flaky when asked if we enjoyed by the male waiter l said he didn't like it but he never responded just ignored what l said coming here is hit or miss depends who is cooking the meals it has put me off a little chips was a poor

One of the best chippers around.

Had soup and a roll. Soup was out a tin and the roll was dry. Not worth £7.95. Partner had a burger and chips and was barely warm again not worth £10.95

I have been here several times the standard is very good unlike the Aberdeen one they give small fish hidden under a lot of batter this fish here is always very good the staff are always friendly and polite l would highly recommend them to others.

Myself, my daughter and my grandson have had dinner there before heading to Inverurie Panto, every year for several years. There are other very good places to eat in Inverurie but The Ashvale has become a tradition for us. We have never been disappointed with anything. The food is delicious,the staff are all excellent and the atmosphere always makes us feel good. Please keep doing exactly what you have been doing now for several years.

Parking was easy food was great, reataurant very clean , but service was first class . Will be back for sure .

I was there in my birthday 12.07.2022. I was very unhappy and disappointed.Food was terrible.Instead stake I get crazy salty ham.Sup was terrible is well. I am pregnant28w and after that what I try feel sick all afternoon. Never return there again.And not recommended for anyone else.

Constantly rubbish, just wasted £21 on 2 fish suppers, We should have known better, but once again caught out, Do yourself a favour, go elsewhere.

We always pop in when we are passing and the Ashvale never fails to please. Lovely prompt, friendly service with a great menu. The battered scampi being my favourite. I'd highly recommend.

Very nice service and food was lovely. Only criticism I have was the batter was a little heavy but it tasted nice and had lots of crispy bits 😀 the mushy peas were good and the fish was very tasty.

It's ok but sometimes mess up your order and the chips can be a bit pale like they need a bit more time

Ordering system very flawed, order went through completely but email confirmation said declined as too busy! Phoned and it was only walk ins they were doing. I don’t understand why you would allow orders to go through online, just don’t offer an online ordering service.

A bit more salad with the beanburger would have but nice but otherwise good.

The Ashvale is a great restaurant great staff but better than that great food

TINY space, I was appalled at the waiting area there was barely space to breath. Especially with covid, people were definitely not 2 meters apart.

Sit down meal with my family, staff, food and service was spot on, friendly and helpful, can't fault anything, very enjoyable, thank you everyone at The Ashvale.

Raw and soggy batter on Jumbo haddock, closed by the time I realised so couldn't return my order. Pretty disgusted as it used to be really good.

Have ordered online for delivery a few times recently and although the time requested seems to always move out by 30 mins, the orders have always arrived piping hot. The onion rings are out of this world, topped off with some curry sauce, they make a fine treat! The delivery drivers are always friendly and everything comes wrapped individually which is great.

Very disappointed with the quality and portion size for the cost we had chicken fillets they were small and only 3.

So expensive... We sat in, my son had chicken fillets with chips and beans and i had chips with cheese and coleslaw and it cost £22 for a chippy for 2 people... £2.60 for a can of coke - pretty ridiculous price. The serving staff we're really nice though.

Worst chippy we've ever had very disappointed , last time we ate in (pre covid) and was 100% , felt like very cheap ingredients

I usually love an Ashvale but we paid over £17 for 2 carry out fish suppers and they were a tasteless soggy mush, not what they used to be, very disappointing ☹️

Had a fab lat lunch here, small fish supper and tea, then STP and ice cream. Just wonderfull. Staff were upbeat and chatty. Cheers , we will be back. Yum. 😜🤪😜🤪

Lovely food and fantastic value for money

Our visit to the ashvale in Inverurie on Friday was abysmal! Chips not cooked and soggy and king ribs were absolutely disgusting and didn't taste right! They went in the bucket. Will not be back!!

Excellent as usual. Service very efficient, servers courteous. Fish was ,as usual, delicious --- unfortunately the chips on my plate were not up to their usual standard ( my husband's looked fresher and better). Not enough to put me off though !

Friendly staff, great fish n chips bit pricey.

Popped in one evening around 6 o'clock and were quickly seated by the friendly waitress. Good selection and we ordered battered haddock and chips and battered smoked haddock and chips. Both meals were a generous portion and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Had the 6-8oz Cod, I was not disappointed, nice crispy batter and a lovely big flakey fish, the cost is a little more than a standard chippy, but well worth that little bit extra! A++

Tonight I ordered the ashvale whale the last time I ordered it it nearly filled the box tonight what I got for nearly £15 was no bigger than a jumbo and the reason I know this is because I always got a jumbo I got chicken fillets aswell poor portion for the price and very bland worst of all no way of getting through to them on the phone I emailed themAnd noReply very unhappy customer

Chicken fillet supper but not as I expected. Presumed the fillets would be home made like the ones in the Aberdeen restaurant. Instead got 5 fillets in a small bag. Bought in prepaired things. Much like the ones as in chicken nuggets. Disappointed and certainly not worth the £7.40 paid

I usually go to Aberdeen one and it's always perfect. But this week I went to inverurie, A fish supper and chipsteak. They were awful, put most in the bin. The batter was 10ml thick and grey and sloppy 😡😫
