Had a large party of people. Had booked, but they had not sorted out where we were going to sit. They did not offer to move the tables closer so we did this ourselves. The food was not good. Had fish and chips and the fish was like it had been cooked and left in the oven. It was very dry and just not good. When we got our bill, we did ot realise at the time, but it was added up wrong and we were overcharged approximately £20. We used to go there a long time ago, but it is going to be a long and I mean a VERY long time till we would go back. This was for my father in laws birthday, and we were very disappointed.

We held and evening meeting at the Burnett Arms recently for 15 farmers. The restaurant was made available to us and was set up well for the meet. The food was good and the young restaurant staff were diligent and attentive - well done! We were made to feel welcome and the venue contributed to the success of the meet. Thanks.

Stayed at the Burnett Arms for the Braemar Gathering weekend and ate in the hotel on Saturday evening. The adjoining bar/lounge is very popular and had been noisy on Friday evening in particular. The restaurant however provided a great oasis, the food was very good with a varied menu. The service throughout was very friendly and efficient without being rushed.

We ended up eating here as two of the places we wanted were fully booked. We had to eat in their bar which is noisy but the table we were given was okay. One gripe, the chef didn't get my steak order right, had to go back and then told no more sirloin steaks, they would have to reheat the one I had, would I mind? Or have ribeye, since I don't like ribeye, I had mine cooked again to my order. We got a free dessert but it did spoil the meal a bit. I am not sure I would eat in the bar again as the music was a touch too noisy but their Dining room looks nice.

No volveré.

The restaurant within the Burnett arms is of a high standard. The menu hasn’t got a large amount of selection, but the selection there is, is a good variety for all tastes. The average price at the time of writing is around the £10 mark. The portion size is on the large side and with the standard of food, makes this excellent value for money. There is only one menu so if you are sitting in the lounge, bar or restaurant areas you can have the same food. The service was excellent by the friendly staff. If you are staying in the Burnett arms then you have the option to add you restaurant bill on to your room and settle your bill on checking out.

Where do I begin. Firstly a previous reviewer had said that they had stayed here in a room at the front of the hotel and it was not noisy, they must either have been staying midweek or had enough alcohol to deaden the noise. There was shouting, mostly from people sitting outside the hotel on the benches supplied for smokers and noisy buses stopping outside. The whole place smelt of stale beer and smoke, which is worrying considering how long it has been since smoking was banned indoors. Maybe the Carpets and soft furnishings have not been cleaned since. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls in places and the tiles needed the grout whitening. The room was very well cleaned. I decided to eat at the hotel and ordered 'Peterhead fish and chips' I live on the coast so I know what fresh fish tastes like, this fish had left Peterhead a while ago and had spent some time in a freezer. The batter was practically indescribable, but soggy cardboard would be the closest I can get. I mentioned it to staff and all I got was an apology. I decided against dessert. On the plus side the waiting staff in the dining room were lovely. Plenty of parking spaces is another plus. Apparently I should have eaten in the bus stop diner as the food there was lovely.

What beautiful building with a traditional rustic Scottish charm. Tastefully decorator inside. Pleasant, helpful staff. The meal was held in a pleasant fiction room with nicely played out tables. As it was an arranged venue the menu was kept simple but nice. Pork loin or salmon. The salmon was delightful surge it's creamy sauce, potatoes and veg. Followed by fruit and icecream and tea or coffee.

Went for early evening meal and I chose the beefburger with plenty of salad served in a brioche bun with chips and it was delicious. My partner had breaded fish with chips, Tartar sauce and peas which he said was also delicious! The 'but' part in my title comes from two small niggles which are the coleslaw and the tartar sauce was far to creamy textured for our liking and I have a real dislike for meals getting served on wooden boards instead of 'normal' plates. Give me a plate any day!! This however is just my personal preference. I will leave this review as I started on a positive note and that is about the waiting staff who are polite and friendly which in turn creates a nice relaxed atmosphere and we will definitely be back.

In the NE Scotland high tea is/was a tradition with tea & toast, a cooked main, followed by cakes & scones. No where did it better than the Burnett Arms which still boasts local fare on its WWW. Despite renaming the restaurant the food and service was below average. Fresh Peterhead fish & chips was clearly a frozen slab of fish not freshly battered and the Aberdeen Angus steak pie was pre-cooked, quickly heated up and dry. Staff were nice but pre-occupied with serving bar foods elsewhere. We eventually got a few dried out cake slices and a few scones. No surprise that on a Saturday night we were the only people in the restaurant. Not the occasion it used to be, but maybe bar meals are the future for the Burnett. Plenty better restaurants elsewhere serving outstanding fresh Scottish fare.

We have eaten at the Burnett many times over the years but hadn't been for a while so when we passed through Banchory recently we decided to give it a try. You are given a choice of areas to dine in and we prefer the bar so opted for that. The atmosphere was comfortable, homely and cosy. The menu offers a good choice of meals including old favourites like mince and tatties and chicken and skirlie both which caught our eye and were promptly ordered. Both meals were delicious, plentiful and filling.A few weeks later we were in Banchory again at lunchtime and had no hesitation in choosing the Burnett again. On this occasion we chose the beefsteak pie and the home made burger, both again delicious. I must also mention the staff who are so kind, helpful and friendly. This is a good old fashioned establishment where you will be assured good food and exceptional service.

We have been here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Again this year despite the inclement weather we ventured out and enjoyed an excellent meal and dance at the Burnett on Hogmanay. The staff, especially Robert and Jackie are excellent and do their utmost to ensure you have a great time. This year we stayed over, and to be fair our room was in need of some modernisation and we have stayed in better within this hotel, but as it was only for one night or in reality a small part of it did not really matter. Breakfast was excellent, setting us up the whole day. Already booked for next year, different room though!

We stayed here for a night during our public transport tour of Aberdeenshire castles and gardens. The bus from Aberdeen dropped us at the door, and subsequently we found that we could reach Castle Fraser and Drum Castle on the same bus route. Our welcome at Reception was warm, and the advice we needed for for our explorations was clear and helpful. Our large room had been recently upgraded and was in perfect condition, with a spacious en suite and a generous shower compartment. The bed offered complete comfort. We dined in the hotel, and found both the soups (Portuguese tomato and Cullen skink) excellent, as were the lamb chops for both and the Eton mess to finish. We can best describe the service as charming, and we thought it was a shame that the dining room was so quiet (only one other table occupied). Breakfast was hearty Scottish, with one option being kipper. One of us found this to be excellent, and the waitress was able to confirm that she had caught it herself that morning in the nearby Feugh burn! Overall, it is everything that a good traditional country house hotel should be.

Staying here for one night and to be honest, I am glad it's not any longer. The room is tiny and the walls are paper thin. I am laying here with my tv volume turned up as I can hear the guy in the room next door having a phone conversation. The shower is a very poor electric shower and, as it's -3 outside, you have to jump around to get wet. The floor in front if the shower is also broken and it feels like I was about to put my foot right through it. Not impressed in the slightest. For £80 bed and breakfast, I would expect more from a best western hotel. The breakfast better be good!!!!

My experience of Aberdeenshire hotels has been a little chequered over the last 4 months and was expecting this to be the same, I wasn't shocked, I was thoroughly flabbergasted by this little gem hidden. From start to finish of my 4 night I can honestly say this has been one of the best hotels I have stopped at for a long time. You will not go far wrong if you try this place out. The rooms, the wifi, the service, the food and hospitality put the big chain hotels (who charge astronomical prices for sub standard accommodation) to shame. Burnett Arms, keep doing what you are doing and don't let anybody tell you differently.

Me my wife and daughter attended at the Burnett Arms for a bar supper on Sunday. It had been a while since we did this but as it was a nice day we decided to have a run to Banchory as we liked going there and the food was always very good. The hotel had not changed much and I ordered the prawn and melon cocktail to start. When it arrived I was not best pleased. I had five prawns, four small balls of melon with a small side salad. The marie rose sauce tasted like it had came from a jar and four small triangles of bread with a slight scrapping of butter. The price for that was £5.45, my 10 year old niece could have done a better job.My wife had the braised steak diane and although the beef was cooked it was dry, as if it had been cooked for some time.My daughter had the macaroni cheese, which was watery, and I had the fish which was served in a rather same plate. My chips, which were tasteless and definately frozen, not fresh and came in a seperate dish. There was no room for them on the plate so I asked the waitress for a bigger plate I was told that this was the biggest plate they had.I paid £35 pounds for that meal and feel that the food was well below what I remember of the Burnet Arms.I wont be hurrying back which is unfortunate because it was my favourite restaurant in Banchory.

She came to the table and said, what soup do you want, maybe if we had a clue what soup they had to over we could of told her. We decided on the chicken soup which we never ate as we think it was just chicken stock in a bowl and they had the nerve to charge us £3-50 for that. We got the wrong bread for our sandwiches, ordered brown, we got white, my egg mayo sandwich had shell in it, once I crunched that between my teeth on two bites I was put off. We ordered two cokes, came in pint glasses. Will not be going back there, over priced and unfriendly staff....
