Ensemble correct mais en deçà de nos attentes : la cuisson bleue demandée pour le bœuf était limité, les accompagnements peu élaborés ni recherchés et les sauces industrielles (quel dommage !) Assiettes généreusement servies. Certaines références de whisky présentées à la carte n’étaient plus disponibles et obtenir des conseils n’est pas évident. Service approximatif mais attentionné et sympathique.

Overall correct but below our expectations: the blue cooking required for the beef was limited, the accompaniments not very elaborate or sophisticated and the industrial sauces (what a shame!) Plates generously served. Certain whiskey references presented on the menu were no longer available and obtaining advice is not easy. Approximate but attentive and friendly service.

Has Sunday lunch here as a birthday celebration. Food and service were both very good, staff are very attentive and friendly. Very good portions

We really wanted to fall in love with this restaurant. We made a reservation on our 25th wedding anniversary at 7:30pm and as we were the hotel's guests, we did not have a problem to show up on time. We were seated promptly and the bartender we knew from the night before was there to talk about wine. We ordered a bottle, and he brought it right a way. I specifically told them it was our silver anniversary, hoping there would be a recognition of that at the table. Even a little note, or a verbal mentioning from the staff... Nope, nada. But that's ok. No big deal, after all, the universe does not revolve around us. The bottle of wine were served around 7:35pm, delicious wine, pleasant lad, the bartender... So far, so good. We enjoyed our first glass in the restaurant that was not terribly busy. At 8:05pm, I stood up, went to the hostess table and let them know we were ready to order. The panic on the faces of the server and the hostess was a sight to be hold. With thousands of apologies, they took our order. It took another 35mn for the steaks to be served. Both of the steaks were overcooked. At that point, we just ate and left the restaurant. The hotel is a bit out of the way, and they recommend reservations if you want to eat dinner at that restaurant. I would have liked them not to forget us at our table on our 25th anniversary night, even if they were going to serve overcooked steaks at £40 each. What a pitty.

My husband and I are staying in the hotel for our wedding anniversary and decided on the first night to eat in Blairs. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, staff very attentive. Only negative was that there wasn't any signage directing us to the restaurant so we had to ask for help (not really an issue) My husband had the soup of the day to start (sweet potato) and I had ham hock with a blue cheese panacotta both lovely. For mains we had chicken with parameter potatoes and the duck - both beautifully cooked. We also shared the cheese board at the end - one portion plenty for two. Would suggest the Sauvignon Blanc too, was very nice. Staff were great, I didnt get out waitresses name but she was very friendly and attentive. Would recommend.

Ardoe is a beautiful setting, the Blairs restaurant did not disappoint! The new menu is fabulous, the puddings especially the marmalade bakewell were excellent. The servers Conor & Matthew were very attentive and looked after us throughout the evening. The drinks lady Louise was most helpful finding a dessert wine to suit our pudding. Great evening, made more wonderful by lovely staff. We will be back!

Painfully Disappointing We waited for 45 minutes in the restaurant for our main courses. When we asked when our food might come, they went off to ask the kitchen and it arrived 5 minutes later, no apology, in fact, the young guy who was serving is seemed defiant and annoyed that we'd even asked. He literally looked at us in disgust. It's love to say the food was amazing. The main was OK, but the starter of Cullen Skink was way too salty and was 90% potatoes..I wouldn't have bothered writing a review had it but been for the arrogant young restaurant manager. Ruined our anniversary experience that we'd paid handsomely for! Avoid.

Ate here two nights on a dinner bed and breakfast rate, but I’d happily dine here on a special occasion. Well balanced menus using locally sourced foods, beautifully presented and tasty. Very good wine list, reasonably priced. Breakfast is definitely a winner, plenty of choice, refreshed regularly

The room was very warm and lacked ventilation. The decor was also a little dated. Our server was very helpful, and pleasant. Our mains; salmon was good, the beef fillet was over cooked and tough. Not really worth going out of your way for.

Every time we come to this hotel we go yo the restaurant. Every time the food has been top notch .locally sourced and locally inspired menu .staff answer all my questions and even recommended some dishes

Did not stay in this hotel but went for dinner. This was excellent. Food was terrific and the service was very good. I have read the recent reviews but our experience was very positive. The hotel has just reopened so I suppose there are some teething problems. Paul the restaurant manager is terrific, friendly and efficient. Now that we know the hotel is back open, we would certainly return to stay.

We dined here twice during our 3 night stay . My wife loves seafood and said that on both nights it was the best seafood ever she had ever tried. My steaks on both nights perfection . Also recomemned the Haggis Fritters ..We thought the price we paid reflected the quality of the meals

4* restaurant... Really good food, nice service as we bother to change french fries with the amazing gratin dauphinois. Service very opened, smiley and happy to help you. Great place to have a nice dinner.

Das Restaurant macht einen auf Chic, man kann aber auch in Shirts in Restaurant. Das Essen ist lecker und wird schön angerichtet. Es war nicht alles auf dem Teller heiss, was ein Wenig schade war.

If you stay in Mercure Ardoe House, the restaurant seems to be your only dining option but it does not mean it is an only reason to choose it. The service is really good, and the food is tasty. The place has amazing historic atmosphere and I belive you can really enjoy your meal here.

Blairs Restaurant is top quality, very friendly and fabulous location. Can't fault it! A stay at the hotel is also a must.

Blairs Restaurant set within the Ardoe House Hotel offered a beautiful evening meal included in our stay. My husband and I were away for one night as an anniversary treat and had booked the dinner, bed and breakfast deal. We both felt that the food included in the deal was excellent value for money and that those with a suppliment were still of good value. The staff were flawless, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant the next morning which was also lovely, a wide selection of items offered. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back.

Restaurant needs a bit more atmosphere - staff friendly enough but english not first language. Food ok but if you have Fine Dining it's Quality v Quantity and although the Quantity was low the Quality wasn't high. Should be a much better experience.

We had booked the hotel with a dinner package included. There was a good choice on the menu and the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. It was a really nice dining room and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The service at is outstanding, the wine list as impressive as it gets but the true star of this show has to be the food. An exquisite meal. Highly recommended

This restaurant in the Mercure Ardoe Hotel is like a five stars resto with great food and services. The menu is not overwelming but with special dishes that are delightful. Pricier than most resto but not over priced.

Pratique quand on loge dans cet hôtel car il est très isolé. Cuisine d'hôtel qui perlet toutefois de s'initier à la cuisine écossaise. La salle est belle mais un peu froide. Service attentionné. Prix élevé.

Las opciones sin carne son muy limitadas. La sopa del día era la única opción inicial y para los platos principales, espinacas y ricotta tortelloni o gnocchi, las únicas verduras presentes aparentemente rellenadas con una salsa de pasta.

Vine aquí para nuestro aniversario y cena de luna de miel con mi esposo. Tardamos unos 10 minutos una vez que nos sentamos para recibir un menú de bebidas y desde ese momento se fue cuesta abajo. Estábamos sentados en la sala principal y no sé si fue por falta de personal o por qué, pero fue el servicio de atención al cliente más pobre que he recibido en un restaurante. Nos sentamos con vasos sucios y vacíos y no éramos los únicos. La comida era deliciosa, pero desafortunadamente esto fue pasado por alto por un servicio tan terrible. El anfitrión fue excelente e intentó complacer a todos los que pudieron, pero los servidores se quedaron charlando y riendo mientras las mesas se frustraban.

Had a meal on Valentine’s Day and it did not disappoint.

We stayed at Ardoe house on the 8th February with my daughter and granddaughter , had breakfast before we left on the morning of the 9th , would recommend it . It’s buffet style so you can eat as much or less as you want .

Had yet another great meal here thanks to owner and chef Keith who always cooks great food. Also had good breakfasts here. Will definitely be going back when next in Lanzarote. Thanks Keith

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The building is 19th century and the architecture is similar to that of Balmoral. A large fireplace welcomes you into a spacious hall with traditional decor. The restaurant itself is relaxing and peaceful, with original features which include stained glass windows and art works. The service was congenial and attentive. The menu was modern with traditional Scottish influences. Everything was tasty, well presented and filling. The apple crumble soufflé for dessert was superb. The price was very reasonable for what we got. Mains were around 20 pounds.

We found the food here was very good. (We had a three course dinner included in our room deal.) You had to pay extra for the steaks. The choices were nice but we don't have any food intolerance so you might want to check if you do. They were not large portions but were big enough for us. The staff were friendly and helpful. Best to book even if staying in the hotel as some guests were told the restaurant was full. We thought the food was just a little over priced, (puddings were £8 each). If we had been paying for the food it would have cost £80 for the 2x 3 courses. That didn't include drinks.

We try to visit the ardoe every year on our anniversary. We married at the hotel and just love the place! As always staff were friendly especially our waiter he was quick to welcome us back and wish us a happy anniversary. The food was pretty much perfect. Little mix up with my husbands starter. He got the wrong dish but it didn't matter because what he got was so tasty he didn't want to change it. My starter was the highlight of the meal... whipped goats cheese. This was so tasty I could have eaten it as my starter, main and pudding !! The pork belly although tasty was a little tough but the chunky chips were to die for ! Perfect accompaniment. Little touches like the homemade bread and a lovely little plate of tablet with an anniversary message are what make the ardoe special to us. Next time we will stay so we can both enjoy a drink ;-) thanks again ardoe x

Visité el restaurante del hotel, el hotel me han dejado comentarios favorables sobre así es difícil dejar a menos de emocionante para el restaurante. Me volveré a cortar recto hasta el punto, la comida está bien, no hubo problemas, sólo un menú muy pequeñas deben indicar la comida es excepcional, lo que no es. Los altos precios deben reflejar también la comida de una gran calidad, sin embargo, de nuevo no. Que son esencialmente pago excesivo por la comida que es perfectamente aceptable. El personal era encantador, aunque apresurado de sus pies.

Opción razonable en el menú de arranque sopa dbb, fue asesinado con pimienta hasta el punto de que mi esposa no podía comer. Mi esposa es sin gluten y el personal no podría haber sido más servicial. Buenas porciones de tamaño en las hamburguesas y el budín de desastre eaton era genial. En general, una buena comida y de elección, teniendo en cuenta que estaba en la base, DBB.

Mi esposo y yo estuvimos aquí para una comida el sábado por la noche como parte de una oferta, DBB. Decidí pagar el suplemento para el rib-eye Steak, cocinado a la perfección y muy sabroso. La única queja fue que se olvidaron las patatas fritas! ! ! Pensamos que debería haber pedido como extra, así que no puedo hablar. Sin embargo, cuando llegamos el menú volver al pedido un postre nos dimos cuenta de que las patatas fritas están destinadas a ser incluidas. Nos dijeron que tomarían el costo de la salsa de pimienta de nuestra cuenta, pero se les olvidó. Finalmente se rectificó, pero un poco molesto nunca menos! Tuve el Chocolate Brownie de postre - ¡increíble! ! ! Si se hospeda en Ardoe House Hotel de nuevo sin duda volveré aquí para una comida - en general muy agradable!

get the rib eye steak. you wont regret it. fish cakes rather small but tasty. nice decor, quiet, romantic, great service. I reckon if we had any issues with anything they would have refunded and allowed us to order something else.

My dinner was three lamb sausages cost £17. Sausages hard to bite but sauce not too bad! Although ambiance is fine dining!My breakfast was buffet style, pastry croissants taste sour, I suspected croissants left over few nights already to serve next day morning, it was very awful taste! I thought I was unlucky get only one rotten croissants, so I stood up and go to take another one from pastry tray, it's still the same! Place is nice but foods no good and through kitchen door, I saw waiter put his finger to his mouth before use his hand take toasts to serve customers! No good!

Whilst staying at the hotel wet ate at blairs. My tomato and pepper soup was quite bland but my lamb and mint sausages had a great taste. The texture of the sausages was ok once you got through the tough outer

Excellent food and service. We had 3 evening meals here and enjoyed them all. The bread and olives pre-starters were very good. We enjoyed the pork, the haddock, chicken, creme brulee, sorbets,etc etc.

Il ristorante si trova nel Mercure hotel e dato che soggiornavamo nella struttura abbiamo deciso di provarlo. Abbiamo mangiato bene, personale molto gentile e per dopo cena una grande varietà di whisky.

Ristorante pregevole con ottimi piatti e grande qualità.- Servizio impeccabile .-Un piccolo appunto personale sul merluzzo impanato con patate fritte e salsa di piselli servito dentro un contenitore di rete messo sul piatto.-La qualità del cibo eccellente ma la presentazione per me un po' azzardata in quanto toccando il cibo la rete slittava sul piatto e rendeva complicato mangiarlo .-Come dessert veramente particolare il "Cioccolato Fortunato" , una varietà di cioccolato ottima da provare assolutamente

Excellent service. Decor is a bit bland, but the food more than made up for it. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, cooked just right, and beautifully plated. Yes it's a bit pricey, but it reflects the overall quality of the meal.

Dined in this restaurant with my husband and the meal surpassed my expectations.The chef had created a new menu the week before and it did not disappoint. The combination of flavours showed imagination and skill. My husband and I had different dishes and each dish was as delicious as it looked.

Stayed in this hotel for three nights the restaurant was very good,good selection of food to suit all tastes.

This is a beautiful house in a wonderful setting. Everything about it looks plush, but sadly our lunch was not up to standard. Starters and pudding were terrific, but our main course of sea bass came without the risotto or the dressing shown on the menu. Two tiny boiled potatoes replaced what should have been served with the fish. We would have been understanding about it, but no one said a word, no apology nothing.My husband also complained about the wretched state of the mens loos. Pre lunch they were ghastly so he mentioned this to the staff was was deeply disappointed that post lunch having complained earlier no action had been taken ( ghastly sticky floor and no hand drying facilities and deeply unpleasant smell). The reception staff apologised but said they had reported it, but that is simply not good enough.I guess we got them on a bad day as they seemed to have a big wedding the night before, but you expect better from this standard of hotel.

Not really sure where to begin with this review.. My other half was treating me to a weekend away at Ardoe with dinner at Blairs. We had been looking forward to it and really just wanted to have a nice time of it. We were seated more than half an hour after our booking was due to start. Our starters once they arrived weren't great. We ordered a bottle of prosecco, ten minutes later told they had none left and would we settle for Cava. Yes of course. Two empty glasses come out but no bottle. Out comes a third glass, with prosecco in it. Hang on no we're expecting a bottle of cava. Confused waiter takes the glass away. Bottle then arrives. What's going on here guys. Other half getting annoyed by this point. She's saved up to treat me to this and we just want to have a good night...! Long wait between starter and main. My main is the beef and it's incredible - so things looking up. £28 bottle of cava going down pretty well anyway.Turns out the whole restaurant is full of unhappy faces this Saturday evening. Table to my right has a word with us - they're not having much fun with the weird service either. Table to our left sitting looking glum. Table behind us embroiled in 5 minute discussion with a waiter complaining about their evening too.Now I'll say the chap who's running the show is a very nice guy, very apologetic and polite. I had a quick word with him and he seemed very sound and understanding. Our bill was reduced. We paid up and went to the bar.On the whole I enjoyed the night but my other half was clearly pretty frustrated - she saved up to give me a good night for my birthday and the whole thing just turned out a little weird.I'd love to come back and have a better experience next time, and I'm sure we will indeed come back at some point to try again.

too many tables in the room , hence too close together. Time between courses was too long 30 minutes +. Main course of venison sausages was poor.....skins were tough. Other clients were complaining that evening also. No background music so people were homing into other clients conversations.

The food was excellent, there was just not enough choices from the set menu. The service was excellent even though it was busy and the food arrived quick.

We were staying in the hotel and used the restaurant on both nights of our stay, the food was delicious and is located in a beautiful room.

Ate here with my parents and husband whilst staying at the hotel. We chose from the set 3 course menu and all enjoyed every course. There were plenty of locally sourced or produced options such as mackerel, pork, venison and seabass.The service was excellent with very attentive and charismatic staff. Atmosphere and decor were just right. Had a most enjoyable evening.

Great quality food, in great surroundings. The service was excellent as was the drink selection. Only downside was perhaps the price £46 for a fillet steak, whilst being a very good steak it didn't warrant the price tag.

The meals I had were very good, service varied from excellent to ok, but that was due to inexperience rather than attitude.

We booked (about 8 weeks ahead) for 6 of us for an evening meal with visitors from Australia. Ardoe would have been prefect for the Ambience. But when we got there we were told that the restaurant was booked for a private function. The 'dining' room that we were in lacked the ambience we would have liked for our Aussie friends. Rather disappointing.

We were guests for an evening meal, invited by friends; a one night package couple.We met in a bleak, Adam's Family lounge, and talked quietly not to disturb the few other people present. We did not feel any warm welcome, and our being led through to the restaurant was a funereal affair. One Scots waitress was still attached to the real world and was friendly. The others were doing their mechanical duty. The restaurant was busy, but nil high spirits on this New Year holiday evening; hushed murmurs and low voices. Had there been a death? We were in comparison, a cheery group, but stifled by the atmosphere prevailing. The one item of interest was a couple; the young woman doing her very best to display her attributes via a low low cut dress. She succeeded. Her pendant necklace was crushed between her bosoms. On returning to a sombre lounge for coffee, where silence was again overpowering, we requested a place with a warmer feel. We were led to 'Soapie's Bistro' which was barely furnished, painted tables, and only us present. I was given a scalding hot Americano, which I suppose was a punishment, as coffee isn't meant to be that hot, while a waitress sprayed and wiped the tables to indicate that it was late. The meal was satisfactory, being of the gourmet style where various colours were also painted around the food. On the whole, an evening of style, and a memory to give us a smile. As we are not wealthy gentry, we would have enjoyed more life and warmth from the staff. We ought to have read between the lines when we checked online. If you are happy with the stilted style provided, then you will be happy with this venue.

My wife and I had an enjoyable Christmas Day lunch. The Willy Wonka theme was very well done, with the centerpiece display excellent.As we have no kids to join us in Aberdeen it was certainly a fun way to feel the kids excitement which added to the great atmosphere of the dayThe desserts were all very authentic looking as in the original movie.Staff were also excellent and dressed up for the theme.We will book again for this year for sure.Only negatives....The main starter option was fish, albeit a nice quality selection of shell fish etc, but other than cured meats, fish was the only option.Buffet style main course selection was nice, but could have been hotter. Yorkshire puddings were terrible. Skirlie would be a good addition.The Willy Wonka desserts were stunning and well made. However, a selection of other quality desserts for adults to enjoy would be a nice touch.The labelling at the food selection was very difficult to readNevertheless, all in all a great event, and if you have kids, or no kids and want to enjoy Christmas lunch without having to cook anything yourself, book it!

75GBP per person plus all drinks: Really not worth it.The switchover to Mercure has not done this place any favours. The service was very good, though they did all seem a bit frazzled: overstretched staffing perhaps? Our server Nickolay was very polite and attentive, as was the sidekick Daniel (?).Starters: Mum's pressed pork was fine. The veggie goats cheese 'cannelloni' was a role of goats cheese with a couple of small pieces of heritage carrot and beetroot...I mean tiny. Nice enough but not terribly impressive.Main: Massive portion of quite tasty turkey for mum slapped on the plate with some undercooked veg. The roast potatoes were cooked either too low heat or not long enough. Very hard. Had to send sis's fish back as was way overcooked: like rubber. They took more care the second time around and it ended up quite nice. My gnochi was mediocre. Not sure what the sweet potato was doing in there, or the weird seeweedy stuff on the top: hey ho (rather than ho, ho, ho). Xmas pud was heavy and dry. Sticky toffee pudding a lot better.No welcome drinks, no after meal mints even. Nobody seemed too bothered either. Was asked once by the coatcheck guy if we enjoyed it, I said, '...The service was good.' He said 'Oh...' and looked a bit embarrassed. So much for gathering feedback then...Not recommended. Not going back.

We stayed at the hotel and had a 3 course evening meal as part of the package.Our food was excellent. My hubby is a bit fussy, so didn't fancy any of the starters, but the chef was great and let him have something from the bar menu. The restaurant was quite busy and not many staff on, but they did an excellent job despite this. Had a meal a few times now at this restaurant and always been pleased.Our breakfast in the morning also excellent, lots to choose from.

This is the Ardoe Hotels dinning room which was first class from the staff service to the excellent range of menu and the fillet steak!

Enjoyed the parsnip soup and bream dish. The chef very kindly altered the dish as I did not like the accompaniments to the fish and the resulting dish was excellent. Good service.

We have had an excellent stay at Ardoe House Hotel, lovely room, great food and amazing service from Andrei at Blairs Restaurant. We had an amazing spa treatment from Cindy and Betty, the best Massage we have ever had, we are leaving much more relaxed. The staff have been so lovely, can't rate our stay higher, thank you!

Food was amazing not what I was expecting. Not very much choice but was aware of that when booking. Staff were very friendly and helpful, knew their job and did it very well. Drinks were quite expensive.

Ardoe is gorgeous. I love it here. Excellent service, very knowledgeable staff. Hearing all about my smoked salmon was a nice touch.Lovely food, try the mini dessert selection! Best dessert I've had!

Had a perfect meal here as a present for my partner, along with a stay in the hotel. The meal was perfect, very beautiful to look at but also tasted incredible. Highly recommended!

Excellent food excellent value, super menu in lovely location, highly recommend, had dinner & Breakfast.

Fabulous food, beautifully presented, served by attentive waiters. The menu only had five items on the main course section but the chef made me something else from another of the menus in the hotel which was great.

Stayed at ardoe house on a deal for 2 including 3 course dinner bed and breakfast found on late rooms, the meal made the deal excellent value, the meals were highly technical, creative and delicious, only small negatives I could say are the carrots were tasteless and the wine at £9.50 a glass was costly, very attentive staff and beautiful surroundings made the experience special

Dined here for two nights as part of our stay at the hotel and I could not fault the food at all. Plenty for every appetite (even mine!). If anything the food was secondary to the amazing people who work there. Attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. If I didn't live a six hour drive away I would eat here all the time!

Food here is always Brilliant, never had a bad meal! Staff are so friendly and always keeping you topped up with water and,, WINE! everyone is nice and the atmosphere is so friendly.

lovely atmosphere and great service.I had the scallops and never wanted them to finish! just a treat!!this was followed by the cod rissotto, which was good but lacking a something.I chose pear tart tatin for desert and loved it!!

I can't praise the food highly enough! Fresh and cooked to perfection. I had scallops and braised shin of beef. Ridiculously good!
