We stayed one night in the Portsoy Hotel. Portsoy is a seacoast town currently noted as the set for the beginning of the Peaky Blinders series. We were there researching family ties. The Station Hotel is a full service hotel with rooms, eating areas and banquet room(s). Our room was adequate overlooking the street which was not too busy. In the morning we found dripping from the bathroom ceiling from a leak on an upper floor which the staff promised to address but we were already checked out. The restaurant was unremarkable but adequate.

The staff were very friendly, and the service very good. We actually went twice. The first time we both had the fish and chips, which was excellent - crispy light batter and the freshest fish straight out of the north sea. When we went back the second time, my wife had fish and chips again, but the batter was much thicker, and somewhat stodgy between the outside and the fish itself. I had the steak pie, and for the money it was very disappointing - the portion of pie was quite small and the filling was quite mean.

On the only day when it rained during our camping visit we headed to the Station Hotel. In spite of staying in the village many times during the last couple of Covid years, this was the first time we visited - we wish we had discovered it on early trips. Staff were friendly, nice little pub with a games room beside the restaurant with a good selection of beers, spirits and whiskies. Along with this, the food choice and quality was the best we have had in the area, better than the Seafield in Cullen for our family. Fresh local produce from the sea and land expertly prepared and served by a busy restaurant team that always had a smile on their faces. Between the 2 adults and 2 children we had a decent range of starters, mains and sweets on our 2 visits - couldn't fault anything and the next time we venture to Portsoy it will be our first stop.

Stayed here this week. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Susan the owner showed us to the room and told us everything we needed to know to settle in. Its an old building with lots of character features. The room and bed was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good, lots of choice served freshly prepared to your table with care and speed. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Lots of local ingredients. Lots of choice. Helpful and motivated staff. The food was well cooked and presented and very enjoyable and exceeded my expectations. We tried several items during the stay and the black pudding bon bons, the monk fish scampi, the Cullen skink and chicken linguinie were all deliciousI would definitely stay and eat here again. Well done Cameron and Susan. The other recent review that says avoid at all costs can't be trusted in anyway in my experience.

Our family visited this establishment for a week day lunch when passing through Portsoy. We parked on the main street, directly outside this hotel (no parking charge). A group were just leaving the restaurant as we arrived and we were therefore the only ones (bar one couple) eating there that day. Pleasant open, cosy, clean surroundings, with music playing quietly in the back ground.Greeted and attended to by Laura, who throughout the whole experience was just excellent. An very friendly, busy and professional manner about her. A joy to behold. My meal (haddock & chips) was even better than our last visit. Definitely an increase on quantity, with the quality being just as good. Better value too, at under £12 for this option. I was that stuffed that I couldn't even attempt a dessert! Soliti piselli scozzesi, smeraldini e assolutamente insapori. Prezzo contenuto. Complessivamente da consigliare.

We were the only people having lunch at the time in this pleasant hotel. Friendly staff, a cosy environment, all clean/tidy and background music played at the right level. My meal was fine enough (haddock, peas & thin chips). Had decided to go for a run in the car and ended up in Portsoy, after a quick look on Trip Advisor we found the Station Hotel and a good choice we made. We wanted something substantial for lunch as we were just having something light in the evening. I opted for the Chicken Balmoral and my wife went for the Oak Smoked Haddock. The chicken was stuffed with haggis and sat on a tier of neeps and mashed tatties with carrots, broccoli and cauliflower and in a lovely whisky cream sauce which there was plenty of, it was all absolutely delicious. My wifes came with creamed tatties, cheese sauce a poached egg and the same veg, she also said it was lovely. We both drank water and the bill came to £26 and was well worth every penny. Cant wait to go back and try a few other things on the menu!

Lovely restaurant, very pleasant lady looking after us, service good but the food needs to get "notched" up a little. Nothing actually wrong with it, just not up to scratch. Soup needed a bit more flavour, Haggis. neeps and tatties - felt it was a bit expensive for a ring of mashed tatties, topped with a ring of neeps then haggis and whisky sauce. Not much eating in it at all. As I say, nothing really wrong, just feel they could do a bit better. Hope they do because it is a lovely restaurant and nice staff

Had this place recommended to us by the owners of the place we stayed at in Portsoy. I also checked the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was actually management’s response to a review that convinced me to give the place a try. I think in the future I will let the review speak for itself. We arrived to an almost empty restaurant and were asked if we had reservations. I said no, do we need one? The reply was “it helps.” (When I say nearly empty I mean there were only two tables occupied). We then had to wait while both table staff went over the reservations to “rearrange things for us” (their term, not mine).

A group of us ate there this week and to be honest, the food was over priced. The staff were perfectly polite but the food itself didn't warrant the price tags attached. To charge £6.95 for a kids meal which apparently included a drink and ice cream but fail to mention the drink included made us order additional drinks. In addition, I have never paid £19.95 for an 8 oz rib eye steak that was less than half an inch thick. It was more like a minute rump steak. Unfortunately we won'tt be returning to this restaurant.

We had a decent meal at the station hotel but I don't think the food went beyond the average pub and, at twenty pounds for a steak, we expected a little more. Minor annoyances included them not informing or reminding us that drinks were included in the children's menus which added more to the bill, and that a large glass of wine would cost eight pounds fifty! (it was quite large, but a bit of clarity would be nice!) The steak was disappointing for 8oz at that price, in spite of the awards that the butcher has won. It simply was not thick enough for Rib eye. Not trying to be too down, as the food was fine and we did not complain for that reason, but I think some thought could be given to the finer details.

Had dinner in the hotel dining room which was tasty and had specials outside the normal restaurant fare. (The breaded haddock was great.) Breakfast had the best eggs of the trip (fluffy scrambled). There is a nice pub attached so you can relax with a pint after the dining room closes.

Went for dinner tonight with my mom and dad, was sent by a recommendation by our hotel, the service was fantastic the server knew a lot about the menu and the area, the food was great, eat as much as we could, the portions were great for us, sticky toffee pudding was sooo good!! With homemade ice cream from next door! Hopefully will join them again soon, would highly recommend!!

4 of us popped in one evening without reservation and had a lovely supper. Friendly and efficient staff. A clean cosy setting.Just needs signage to the gents toilets (which were again very clean and tidy), passing by a large dinning hall to get there. The main meals which we had were excellent at approx. £11.50 each, it's the drinks which add a lot to your bill. The condiments should be at the ready a lot sooner, as your meal cools down. We'll be back.

We stopped for supper one evening and found the food to be pretty average pub food - possibly the sort of food expected twenty years ago. Haddock, salmon (not available that night) burgers etc., I had Cullen Stink but was disappointed. Far too much potato and not enough fish. My husband said his pate was extremely ordinary. This was followed by smoked haddock in a sauce with mashed potato. We had far too much potato which was stodgy and tasteless. Carrots and peas accompanied. 'Adequate when hungry' was my husband's comment although the fish itself was very tasty.Friendly enough staff and helpful too, but overall we felt the meal was very expensive for the quality, compared to the Durn House where we had eaten so well the previous evening. We could not understand the rave reviews on trip advisor which was our reason for going.

After a long day on the road it was a pleasure to stay here, I stay away allot and this is fantastic value for money! Everything exceeded my expectations.. rooms very clean and spacious, bars great with pool table and food and service outstanding I'll definitely be back next month!.I asked how fresh there salmon was and the chef actually brought it to my table showing me it only came in today! It's these little details that make you trust the chef and the food your eating.

This evening my friends and I were out to enjoy ourselves having a lovely meal. But that did not go to plan, as we had to wait 2 and a half hours for our food! (one of my friends order a steak which was flavourless and the other order a starter which was completely disregarded when asked about) Although waiter was very accommodating and trying his best to make our meals come quicker, the whole place is severely understaffed causing backups throughout the whole restaurant. As our food was taking a long time we were told we could leave and not wanting to deal with us in that regard. Overall I am very disappointed in the service I received this evening, either this place has to cut down it customer intake or find a way to accommodate this volume of people.

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.

Lovely food served by lovely staff. Great meal and very tasty food, well presented. Even put candles in the desserts for the birthday boys. Thank you Buchan Braes.

We had the most amazing afternoon tea experience in the Bubble. We can't praise the Banff Springs highly enough. This was a mini 'hen party ' and so much thought had gone into making this so special for the bride to be. Beautifully decorated, Beth and her team looked after us so well. The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding. A lovely afternoon was had by all. Highly recommend! A big thank you to all involved!

Disappointed with the cappuccino which was weak milky coffee which I did not finish. Lovely lady who served and made my cappuccino but she was no barista. Been here many times before but this is definitely my last cappuccino.
