Good place to have a sit down after touring the Castle. Usual soup, snacks, scone and cakes. And they will make you an excellent bacon roll. Good coffee too. All served with a smile.

It was nice inside, but the food wasn’t superb. Sausage roll special was not flavorful and tasted burnt, sent back and the second also was the same, just less hard. Both were overcooked and not much flavor. Bottle of Pepsi also tasted a bit flat. May have been an off day. The potato and leek soup was almsot all broth and only one small potato chunk in each bowl.

Time for a more recent review? Friendly staff, nice location, amazing cakes...I suspect the best go early - huge choice at 12am, less so by 3pm! Some seriously impressibe looking cupcakes and the scones - blueberry and orange? Never got to try one - all went quickly!I had soup of the day (Lentil) with oat cakes and went back later for chocolate brownie... All with tea...

Well, we stopped in by for a fly cup before we toured the castle and gardens. We spend a lot with NTS being members, in their tea rooms. This one did not impress us at all. The staff were lovely and pleasant, however the cake wasn’t. We ordered a slice of sponge, a slice of lemon drizzle, a muffin, a tea, coffee and apple juice. The cakes didn’t taste that great and the lemon drizzle cake was 1/2 inch thick. I was surprised it could be cut so thin! It also cost $2.50! I know the cafes are costly, but come on NTS, things really need improvement here.... where the value for money?

A nice little tea room from National Trust of Scotland at Castle Fraser. One waitress who served around 20 people who were in the tea room very efficient. She was friendly welcoming and looked after this little tea room with a nice smile, she was a nice young girl. The thing that I thought was terrible was that it is a national trust property for scotland and the little jars of jam were not local produce. They were a very poor tastless jam and thought for tourists it was a bit of a disappointing not to see local jam when all the scones cakes were home made as such.

After having a walk around the grounds of the castle which was great we decided to grab some lunch with out 10 week year old daughter, so we decided to visit the tea room, upon entering a rude gentlemen explained we could not take the buggy inside as no space when we advised she was 10 weeks old and she cant use a kids chair and the fact the tearoom at this point was EMPTY ! he didn't care and advised us to leave ? ? now had the place been busy , I may have understood however what we are saying the compact buggy which we did have for our new baby was not welcome ? what happens when a disabled person appears are they refused ? no doubt with the gentlemen's approach?

Arrived at 14.02 to be told the only food available was cake or cheese scones. We saw a lady actually have the menu taken out of her hands as the time for lunch was over, i.e. 2pm.

First visit today and can’t wait to return. Tea and cake available from 10 with lunch from 12 so naturally we came back for 12 . Starting with panini and cold drinks the quality was good with a request to personalise my filling taken with no issue. Finished with cake and tea with the only problem being to much choice. All the cakes are out on display so you can see exactly what you get and the staff were happy to answer any questions . Fast, polite and efficient staff, lovely setting and good choice of food and drink. Some outdoor seating but mainly inside with access from the courtyard. Very clean and relaxing place to eat, Look forward to our next visit.

We had a very tasty light lunch before tackling the castle last week. The kids loved there kids meals , I had a courgette & tarragon soup and my wife had the quiche. They were packed full of flavor. After our tour of the castle we came back for coffee and cake which was also extremely good. The gardens are also well worth a look and you can see where the kitchen produce comes from.

Visited as a family. Children has panini and loved it. My mother-in-law and I had the quiche. The portiions were a little small for the price, and came with an equally small side salad. It was lunch, not a snack , so should really have been a little more substantial. Even Bonne Maman though it was a little on the small side...however...I can cook & have eaten in some very classy places, but that was prabably the best pastry I have ever had. The cook really can cook. Nice cakes and good coffee. In a stone floor room so gets noisy very quickly. You want good food while watching your portion size - go for it.

We had lunch here after visiting the beautiful grounds of Castle Fraser - we got off to a bad start as they only had one highchair so our two year old had to sit on an adult seat which she wasn't happy about, the food was lovely and tasty but was a bit overpriced - the kids meal the most expensive I have come across at £4.75 (if I remember right) for a ham sandwich, crisps, carton of juice& small yoghurt. They should use some of the revenue from the kids meals to purchase more highchairs! The tearoom itself was lovely to sit in and the staff were very nice.

We popped in for lunch and chose the quiche @£6.95 a bit expensive for a small portion with a tiny side salad. Now for the cakes, there was a strawberry sponge, a burnt almond creation and the remainder were bought in from the village bakers shop, non of which were appealing. We chose the strawberry cake which was ok, now the coffee! At first we were told non were available latte or cappuccino. But if we wanted filter coffee we could get that as they had ran out of milk. £24 later I felt it was expensive for what it was. Such a shame as it could be so much better. I don't think I shall rush back.

5 minutes after they served me the tea I was asked to leave because the place was closing (after I had already paid for my tea, of course). A member of the staff told me that it was going to open again after an hour or so in case I want to come back. (laugh) And you call this ''hospitality''? They shouldn't have taken the order from me if the place was about to close. This kind of behaviour - to make your customers leave - is absolutely unacceptable to me.In general, poor customer service + impolite staff = I won't come back again!

As you approach the castle in which the restaurant is located it looks fantastic. Inside it is spacious yet really cosy. We dropped in for a light lunch on Sunday September 16th at around 1.00pm. The staff were very attentive. We both went for the soup and then had the cheese and salmon sandwiches respectively. The soup was mushroom based and absolutely gorgeous!. The salmon sandwich was good but the mature cheddar cheese sandwich was very poor. Pre-sliced supermarket cheese that was almost tasteless was served on tasteless supermarket bread & to add insult to injury a water logged chutney had soaked into the bread. We will definitely return as the soup was so good. I really hope though that the most basic aspects of using good quality foodstuffs is addressed sooner rather than later.

· Wow where to start, I found this gem while visiting the local area. The inside is very warm and cosy and beautifully decorated. The staff were so warm and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. No impersonal self-check-ins here people! My room was on the top floor and can only be described as a cosy little snug. Gorgeously decorated with pretty lighting and an illustration of a castle. The bed was decent and had a lovely tartan rug on top. I was delighted to see there was a pretty antique-looking writing desk and chair in the room with plenty of space to hang clothes and store bags. There is a nice bath in the bathroom and this is the first place I saw had a proper bath matt as well as a matt in front of the loo. No moving the thin little matt around with a foot in this bathroom! I loved the fact that I could open the window in both the bedroom and bathroom. Pleasant continental breakfast, and decent coffee. The evening meal I had here was scrumptious everything on their menu looked amazing. The dining room had so much ambience and music in the background was not over loud meaning people were still able to talk to each other. Parking right outside. Bravo! highly recommend. I ended up booking a second night. Would visit again.
